This place isn't worth your time. Went in twice in the last month. The first time they forgot half of our order. The next time I had to wait 30 minutes while the guy making the pizza cursed under his breath that he had too much to do. We moved to the neighborhood 6 years ago, and have eaten here on and off for the entire time. One word; Inconsistent. I've eaten here by mistake twice because I also have Cousins in Norwood stored on my phone, and I felt bad and didn't cancel my order. It's so close that we could walk, and conveniently for them it's a good location. We gave up awhile back because of the inconsistency and that cantankerous rude lady who hangs up on you before they get the order right, and don't care or compensate when they get it wrong. I haven't heard her answer for the last year, so I guess she's gone. Smart move, I assume she is the matriarch. Well, anyway I could go on and on about how fantastic the pizza is sometimes, and how stingy they are with the ingredients at times. One tiny pepperoncini in the Antipasto salad? We ordered the Greek pie and it had like three measly spinach leaves and a few sparse feta crumbles. So disappointing. This was an accidental order, Cousins in Norwood would never do that. The crust wasn't too bad though. After that we wanted to give them another chance for awhile and we just asked for extra toppings each time. Been Ok, for a couple years, hit or miss until tonight. Ordered a large pepperoni pie, came home only 1/2 pepperoni. Ordered meat lovers pie which isn't on menu and the variety of toppings was acceptable. But both crusts were dry and flavorless. I like to enjoy the crust at the end and dip it in my, one pepperoncini and two tomato antipasto salad dressing, but it had no heart, it was dry and stale and old tasting. The dough must have been frozen and thawed, it just had no life. I should have my head examined, but I wanted to try something else tonight, and was in the mood for fish. The kids love fish and they've had squid plenty of times, mostly Tempura style if it was fried. I love genuine Calamari with hole pieces tentacles and all, but I asked, and they said it wasn't like that, but I was willing to take a chance. I mean even if it's frozen, all they have to do is throw it in the fryer and the lemon will do the rest. They didn't put it in the fryer till I got there to pick up, which I didn't mind thinking they were being conscientious. As soon as he brought it to the counter, I could already smell it, and it was like I was at the bait shop getting ready to do some surf fishing in the bay. Just a good old cheap stink that I wasn't surprised about. Stunk up the car and then the kitchen, and my wife didn't want anything to do with it. Pulled it out of the bag and there was no lemon and the marinara sauce was sloshing around inside the tiny plastic container. It was like water. And the taste was gone. I cut a lemon of my own up and saturated it. Took a bite without dipping and I could taste the bottom of the freezer burned bag. Just a soggy mess. My 11 y/o daughter said it tasted like it was raw. HA! The 5 and 8 y/o boys didn't mind and ate it up. At least they were just getting their fish on and didn't care. I usually look forward to a cold pizza breakfast slice, but I guess we'll have to try another time when it's a hit. read more

Horrible experience. Walked in I asked what special slices they had and I was screamed at and told "look what's there is there". When I ordered water, my friends did to and they yelled at them and told them they should have ordered all at once. Then after accepting payment we were informed that they "ran out of plain pizza". Finally, the worker dropped his id and said pick that up. While my friend was bending down he put a piece of pizza on the end of the table and it fell on my friends NEW sweatshirt. PROS: There were only three things I liked. They had a TV, the pizza was great, and the staff seemed very nice. CONS: The place was very unkept. While looking run down, the place was unsanitary. The tables had crumbs on it and were very sticky. The bathroom was so disgusting, especially the toilet, that I simply walked out of there and held it in. This place is such a gem. I started following them on social media. I ordered last night and they were super busy when I went to pick up and they were so really kind and apologized for the delay. Really nice guys. Cant be mad that they are busy totally understandable. Now to the food. I have had plenty of pizza in my day and this is probably the best I have had. The sauce is so delicious and not too heavy on the cheese which I appreciate. The crust was so tasty and crispy. Hand down best pizza in the area even Bergen County. No Joke. Let me tell you these sliders are better than white manna in Hackensack. The penelope chicken sandwich is so crispy, spicy and flavorful. And the spicy sauce and spicy honey drizzle unreal. I had the Cheesesteak Rice Ball really big and nicely stuffed with delicious and seasoned sliced beef and cheese. At a loss for words for how unbelievably rude the Manager is. After being an excellent customer consistently ordering delivery from Cousins for the last year, whether it's a simple night at home or a larger gathering where we order a larger amount of food, they dropped the ball BIG TIME. How is it that an order for two garlic bread w cheese and garlic knots turns into a two hour ordeal and heated argument w the joke of a Manager at their establishment. I ordered my food at 3pm and here we are at 5:36 writing a scathing review because the imbecile who calls himself a Manager refused to believe that my food wasn't delivered. I requested that my food be left on our enclosed front porch as we've done in the past with zero issues. My food never came, my son who was home the majority of the time vouched for the fact that he saw not food on the porch and no one delivering food while he was here. I called to inquire about my missing food and all was fine until I spoke to the "Manager." Who initiated the conversation with the "food was delivered" in an accusatory tone as if I'm trying to get over them? Yeah I'm trying to steal 15 dollars of delivery from you after I've been ordering from you weekly for the last year and I was treated like a the dirt beneath your shoe for asking what happened to my food. Gets better!!! I tell the jerk I spoke to on the phone that I love their food and would like to continue doing business there but his tone was inappropriate. This guy started yelling at me!!!!!!! WTF, as if he I am wrong for asking what happened to my food. He says to me "My delivery guy is not a liar" ...... who even mentioned the word liar? Not the biggest fan of Cousins. Ordered twice and ate in twice. As others have reviewed, eating in is a bit difficult if the place is a dirty mess. Ordering in the other hand wasn't a ton better as it took forever without an excuse or courtesy but what we did get was attitude. Onto the actual food now. We've only ever ordered pizza from there. No parms, no wings, etc. pizza isn't great. Not super flavorful. Wouldn't recommend with Broadway Pizza in Westwood being less than 10 mins away. read more

Not so good. I thought the deep dish pizza was very good, the dough was nice and so was the sauce. The crust on this pie was lacking though. However the margarita pizza, which is usually one of my favorite I thought was dreadful. The cheese didn't taste very fresh and overall it was lacking. Does anyone remember when Pete used to own this place or is that going way too far back? Really good place to get some pizza. The prices are cheap and you always get a good amount of food... but I don't know how much that holds true after Pete left. And like I said, the pizza is very good, especially for the price, but if you're one of those people that need to dab your slice with a napkin to get rid of the grease then you will definitely need to a do a fair amount of that here. For Italian food connoisseurs, who I might I add, are Italian, notice the following as true. That it is exceptionally rare to have an establishment that makes both great pizza and dishes. The pizza here is more than decent- in fact, if they only sold pizza, they'd be better off. The dishes however are another story. Order their Chicken or VEAL dishes and you'll sorely regret it. The Veal especially. Tastes like a rubber tire and that's because they've served this dish up for so long that they've become complacent about quality. When was the last time they've tried their own Veal Parmigiana? I think they'd be surprised. (The VEAL dear they serve the public dear friends would not pass any quality inspection given by Mama.) When was the last time Cousins sat down with their crew to eat and experience what their customer experiences? When was the last time they've initiated this kind of review? It takes an awfully forward thinking set to humble oneself (especially in this business) to be self critical without taking offense - and in this business, this kind of mindset is rare. After-all, we are not dealing with a bunch of intellectuals, but culinary craftsmen. With respect to the manager, I have to agree with some of the comments on here. The overall vibe / bedside manner of the individuals working in the front of the house is less than what you'd expect in 2017. With so much competition out there, one would expect a superior customer service experience out of Cousins- especially given that cousins has been part of the community for so long. In the final analysis, Cousins, needs a refresh. An outside consultant or something coming in to provide them with some unvarnished truths about their food because it seems, free reviews such as the one we take time to post - go unrecognized (and that's not just this business, but a majority of restaurants out there. The cold hard truth is, if these restaurants took our views seriously, they'd make immediate, positive changes, or at the very least, survey the public. This being said, they get 3 stars because this place is NOT TERRIBLE. The pizza is delicious and fresh- they use good ingredients. If only they took the initiative to improve their poultry and meat dishes- this place would be dynamite and worthy a 5 star rating which potentially, it could be. read more

This was always our default to get the kids a pie on weekends but ever since they remodeled and changed up their pizza we go here a lot more often. After hearing good things about this place and passing it for over 20yrs, I thought it was time to give it a try. Sadly I realized why I had never tried it and will now continue to drive by it. It ranks towards the bottom of my pizza eateries experience. Pizza is one of my favorite foods, it is our Friday night staple in our home. Being such a fan of this food, I am always on the hunt for the best all around pizza pie. While the sauce had a nice sweet flavor, the cheese was a bit on the lite side for my liking. What was lacking (as seems to be a common theme) was a good crust. It honestly had no flavor and I might have well be eating cardboard. NEWSFLASH to all pizza shops, "a great crust overcomes other short comings". I am convinced that some pizza guru business guy has showed pizza shops how to maximize their profits by minimizing ingredients. I'll bet these shops actually weigh their materials prior to pie construction. ATTENTION ~ this will not work with a true pizza aficionado This cheaper pizza phenomenon seems to have started when commodities prices (wheat) spiked in 2008 and increased by 25%. Thats when pies went from 9.99 to 12 per pie. Its also when bagels prices doubled to nearly a dollar each ! Well the prices settled back down a year later, but the shops kept their costs up. In reviewing recent reviews of this establishment, I can only surmise that someone is fluffing the review to promote business. Anyone with taste buds would quickly realize that this place just misses the mark T......as a foodie and a pizza lover this review is completely non bias ~ sorry cousins sometimes the truth hurts. Heres my free consulting advice for you.......Focus on a killer crust, put another 5 ozs of cheese on your pies and the lines will be out the door. Anywho, if you are located in Rivervale and have been reluctant about trying Cousins, PERFAVORE give them a try. First off most of their dishes are HOMEMADE and are super delicious. Have you ever heard the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Well take heed with that saying when it comes to Cousins. I know there are other pizzerias around town, but they do not compare to cousins. The other restaurants might look more appealing to the eye but the quality of food is no where parallel. Cousin marinara sauce is absolutely delicious. There are four foods from the menu I recommend and are super good. Buffalo wings (they are breaded and friend), burger (I had the bacon cheese burger deluxe; med rare), Cheese Ravioli ( Mr. Kolby love to order this dish once a week), and homemade spinach pie (one of my FAVEEEEE). *** I'm gonna write this very moment a mini quick review on their homemade spinach pie**....I have never in my life had a spinach pie before, I'm not Italian, and I've never been to Italy! When I took a bite of this thin-flaky-crusted spinach stuffed pie I couldn't believe what my mouth was experiencing.
