Ordered a Philly cheese. Came out in 2 minutes so hot I couldn't hold it. Obviously microwaved. So much for fresh.

The guy at the register is hustling and doing as much as he could. They were pretty busy when I showed up. Waited about 5 minutes to be helped. People behind me in line left. The man at the register was doing the front counter, the drive thru, and running orders out the door. Poor job by management. The man was very respectful and polite, doing the best he could. The place is new and beautiful! Very cool building! The food was good. It wasn't the best I've had from cousins, but I'm happy. I love cousins and really hope they clean it up so they can keep this location and be successful. UPDATE: I made another visit May 31 and they were already well improved from my last visit. They had some more staff on the clock and were getting orders out pretty quick. The food and service were pretty good. read more

The last time, which was last week, the bread was especially fresh and tasty. My wife always comments how nice the people are at the store and she enjoys buying from here. My friend and I went through the drive through at approximately 215 pm on 12-21-25. We ordered 2 subs and a large fry. We forgot to ask if this could be on separate bills. When we got to the window the clerk said no, we couldn't do that. We asked if we could cancel the order to separate them, he said no. Then we proceeded to wait for 10 minutes for our food. Mind you, there was nobody behind us, and maybe 3 cars in the lot. When we were finally given our food and I asked him why it took so long he only said there were 3 orders before us. He never apologized for the wait, didn't offer us any coupons or something. We will not be going back to this Cousins location. I usually love Cousins but this was a terrible experience. read more

I have tried this place twice now since it has been open, and honestly, not too impressed. Biggest complaint is the lack of meat on some of the subs. Especially the philly cheesesteak I ordered one time. The lack of meat and onions and peppers for the price I paid was ridiculous. And the other time I ordered a ham sandwich and it seemed there was more veggies than meat and cheese on it. Overall, I would say it's disappointing unless you either order a sandwich where two meats come standard on it, like the club, or pay extra to get a double portion of meat. It's nice they have fries and cheese curds though, and I did enjoy the curds. But for me, that's not enough of a reason to visit Cousins. Plus, between the two times I have visited, service was inconsistent at best. One time I had my order within a few minutes of placing my order. The other time, it took over ten minutes to get my order. And that time, which was when it was busier, I overheard the staff rudely sniping at each other. I'm sure they were stressed, but not a good sign when the make line is within earshot of the customers. Overall, I'd rather pay more and go to Jersey Mike's. And if I want speed, I'll go to Jimmy John's or Milios. There are so many other sandwich options in Sun Prairie that this place is lackluster at the best of times. read more

I'm a longtime Madison guy. I've had Cousin's before.They've always been okay. That's all. Just okay. In the sandwich pantheon of the greater Madison area, they're smack dab in the middle of the back. They're above Subway, but below Jersey's Mike's. They're on par with Jimmy John's or Milio's. They're no better or worse than most places. They make a decent sub, but I find their stuff is really lacking the quality ingredients. They don't put enough meat on their subs. They add too much lettuce. And the bread overwhelms the sandwich. The bread-to-everything-else ratio is off. Still, it's an acceptable sub. For the money, though--I'm going elsewhere. I think Jersey Mike's has sort of hit the peak of the sub market, although some of the indie shops around Madison (Chiba Hut) are doing some great things. Bottom line, if I'm going out for a sub, Cousin's will never be first on the list. I'm probably going to Jersey Mike's. Heck, even Arby's "market-fresh" turkey sandwich on two standard pieces of bread has more meat than Cousin's. But Cousin's isn't bad. It's not great, but it's far from bad. It is a wholly mediocre but acceptable sandwich. read more

First is store wasn't very clean. Only one person at the counter. I ordered a 15" sub. Added bacon, bacon says it is 1.99 and adds 58/116 calories. Kid charged 3.98 for bacon. I asked and explained how the menu looks. He said it was 4 pieces of bacon each side of the sub, so I figured sure why not. But then I get the sandwich and it was only 4 pieces total. Not the end of the world but I don't like being misinformed or lied to. read more

I went to Cousins late on a Sunday night to order 2 subs. I had a discount code that the cashier had a problem entering. The cashier went to go get the manager for help. The manager literally came running from the back to help enter the code. He politely showed the cashier how to enter the code. I was so nice to see how the manager guided the employee through the process. I know how intimidating working a register can be. This manager gets it! The subs came out perfect. Everything was evenly proportioned and well constructed. Quite possibly the best sub I have ever had. The restaurant was as clean as the board of health. I'm a neat freak, so cleanliness means a lot. I've had a few good visits and a few bad, but last night was the worst of the worst. Went in and had to wait until one of the 2 males standing around talking came over to take the order. No hello, nothing barley said anything the whole time. Ordered and went to sit down. All tables were dirty. We had to clean one to sit down. A female employee came in and started cooking on the grill. Finally, after 19 minutes, I went and asked where our 2 subs were. While waiting I got to talking to a guy that was there when we got there and his order was supposed to be done 45 minutes ago prior. Finally got our food to go cause it took so long and got out to the vehicle to find one of the subs missing the main ingredient. Not happy with this visit at all. read more

I was excited for Cousins to be back in SP -- it's probably my favorite fast food sub shop. Unfortunately this new location has really not impressed me with their service. I've been here several times, never waited less than 10-15 minutes for my food, even when it's dead. Once they suggested adding cheese to my sub, I said sure, and the up-charge was ridiculous for a few slices cheese (and they didn't inform me first). They once let me order soda without telling me their machine was out of all but two flavors. Etc. If I go there after 9pm, they're cleaning & trying to get ready to close asap...it's obvious they are not happy to stop for a customer. I get it, but sorry, your sign says you're open. I just don't like the experience here, management needs to step up read more
