Cousteau's creates the best milkshakes I have experienced in my 60+ years. Thick and flavorful, my go-to is the Be Still Cody, served with espresso whipped cream. I arrived as they were opening for the day. Counter help was friendly and ready to meet the work day. He was responsive and efficient and made our order quickly. This is a very unique place for a sweet treat. Though not really specified in their name, they are also an ice-cream shop with Mayday Ice Cream. If you like that ice cream, you'll like the selection here. HOWEVER, the milkshakes are not made with that ice cream. I can only speak to having the Whirlybird waffle and Mayday ice cream, not a milkshake. The Whirlybird was ok. My waffle was a bit tough; I can't tell if that was because it was stale or because of how the apples had soaked into it. The apples weren't that special, either. They were a bit overpowering and made the whole thing a tad sloppy. If they were diced apples instead of sliced, it might have been a bit easier to eat. The whipped cream and vanilla ice cream were a great accompaniment to it all, though. The insides are very clean and neat. Everyone there was friendly and attentive. They served us a great many samples as we decided on what to get. I would come back again to try a different waffle creation. They did have serval that sounded great. YOU NEED TO STOP HERE AT LEAST ONCE! We stopped by on a road trip from Gainesville, Florida. Had a full day at the beach and stopped by at 6pm for some ice cream on the trip back. Such friendly staff right when we walked in, and such easy service. I am celiac gluten free and the staff made sure to dig from the sides of the ice cream for samples and clean the spoons for limited cross contamination. My friend ordered a strawberry milkshake and I got an off menu item, an affogato with two mini scoops of favorite mug espresso ice cream and cloud 9. SO GOOD! My total was 8.36 and it's so worth it. I love this place! My favorite is the Bella Fonte - a waffle with Nutella and strawberries with whipped cream on top and it's absolutely delicious! I came here because a friend recently told me about the amazing decor and how the entire business is themed after Wes Andersons movie Life Aquatic. I left with a delicious milkshake! It was a little confusing finding this location. We first came to the location in downtown St Augustine. This location has some themed decor but nothing like their beachside location. The decor is actually pretty amazing. I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures and hand painted Murals. The associates were friendly and helpful. They have handmade waffles, hand spun milkshakes and just simply icecream if you don't want it all. The milkshake options all sounded really tasty. If you love milkshakes this is the place for you. We went to the Downtown one years ago and loved it so much that we were so excited one is on A1A now(don't have to worry about parking lol!) the restaurant is huge and the decor/art work is so fun! If you are wondering if there are celebrities on the wall-you are right! We were looking and I was like "well that looks like William Dafoe and that one looks like a Jeff Goldblum" it's because it was them! So we went to the other location in downtown St. Augustine the day before and the kids insisted they needed another shake. This location is much bigger with more seating and seemed like more ice cream options because they were out on display. They also had to-go pint options and I noticed cones for the ice cream that I do not believe the other location offered, which is all great, but the service and presentation was not as good as the other location. We tried the electric jellyfish this time and it looked a bit different from the electric jellyfish at the other location, we had seen another guest get, but I assume they were the same.
