Right before the busy Memorial Day weekend, they squeezed my mom's car in last-minute for her registration and an oil change, getting her in and out incredibly fast. To top it off, they prepped my truck for a massive cross-country trip and charged next to nothing for it. The mechanics are top-tier, and the customer service is exceedingly superior. Cove Tire used to be my go to place for all car services. The manager or owner Mike was in an accident and his wife took over the operation. To put it mildly, she is a witch. She seems to want to put the business into the ground. She is outright rude with the biggest chip on her shoulder. There is absolutely no communication between her and the customers. I now go to Maximum Tuning up the street from this place and they are excellent...fair prices and when you walk away you are confident that your car has gotten the best care. They also have great communication skills! read more

I want to warn others about my experience at this shop. The woman who answers the phone and works behind the desk is extremely rude. Her tone, the way she speaks to customers, and the pushy attempts to upsell higher-priced items are completely unnecessary. There are plenty of other options in the area for an oil change. I have gone to them before and have overlooked her rudeness because I think that mechanics are good there, but do yourself a favor and choose a place that values your business, rather than one that assumes they can treat customers poorly and still keep them. read more

Short story. I collect cars. Brought in one of mine for alignment, car still needs work from the previous days closing so i come back in everything is fine until im approached by someone i didnt know starting to tell me things EXTREMELY rudely that i had done to my car even though i can show i have never done work to my car. Happens to be the owner and the employ whom i was working with starts shaking his head in disgust seems the owner is a know RUDE person. NEVER have i been approached by someone in a car shop this way specially over work they couldn't finish the day before. We need a quick annual emission inspection. First went to a place in Glen Cove. Wow, arrogant, are you kidding met?! Left quietly. So happy we came to Cove Tire! A very clean, nice respectful place and people. The owner s daughter was very sweet came up to help us once we walked in. Done! Simple and efficient. I miss Mike. This used to be a good shop. Now it's just a tire shop. They refuse basic work like replacing a shifter cable on a transmission they installed a few years ago, on a car I bought from them. Told me to bring it down the road so I'm out a towing fee but found a great new mechanic. Won't be back. read more

Cove to the rescue! Nobody's driving during the pandemic and so when we returned our leased car and decided to keep just our 10-year old car, we did not anticipate actually relying on it for something important and then having it not work. On the day before my Covid vaccination I went to start up the car and sure enough the battery was dead. We called Triple A and asked them to take the car to Cove Tire. I told Cove we needed it fixed because of my vaccination appt. Cove fixed it and then came to fetch me that afternoon so I could drive my car home. A week or two later, the same thing happened. Apparently something in the car was draining the battery and we did not realize it. This time, it was the day before my husband's vaccination appt. Cove came over with a mechanic to see if they could fix the problem without taking the car in. They wound up starting it and taking it in for a diagnostic. They spent hours checking why the new battery could have been a problem. They enumerated all the things that can drain a battery (including not driving!) and recommended what to turn off while we're not driving. We purchased tires 4 months back and was told that it came with alignment for free. Unfortunately we were short on time and unable to have the free alignment completed at that time. The technician did however tell us that it was free and that it was a good idea to have it done (even though the car felt perfectly fine to us). They also told us we only had limited time (30 days) to come back and have it done for the free promotion offer. They called us last month and told us that they wanted to honor the promotion and still offer it to us for free (even though it expired) and we had agreed to scheduled an appointment. We dropped the car off and an hour later they called and told us that we had a bad tie rod on each side, front bar bushings were very worn and that the car was not safe to drive. Being that we are not knowledgeable with cars and trusted their diagnosis, we agreed to let them change the parts. The bill came out to $870 after tax. After we paid the bill, they told us to bring it back in 2 months so that they could re-check the alignment for free and make sure that its perfect. When I brought the car to our mechanic yesterday for our yearly inspection, we showed him what we had done to the car along with the bill. Our mechanic told us that we were taken advantage of by Cove Tire. He then told us that the parts for that job should have been very cheap and that it would only take him less than an hour to do the same job. They charged WAY too much for the parts. We were excessively over charged and taken advantage of. We are filing multiple complaints against the company. COVE TIRES BILL: PARTS: Outer tie rod ends: 2 @ $140 each Sway bar bushings: $315 Free alignment (because we previously purchased tires from them) Free oil change LABOR: $205 COVE TIRE CHARGED US $870 FOR A $260 JOB!!!! I clearly needed a new tire cause my tire was flat and there was a bubble in it. I bring it there at 8:45am this morning and the woman there was so rude. She tells me it will take 45min for someone to look at it which i was fine with. Her 45min meant 4 HOURS. 4 HOURS for me to just get a call and say "yeah it needs a new tire but we dont have any for the car". WOULDNT YOU THINK THAT BEFORE I GAVE YOU THE KEYS YOU WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THE TIRE IS IN STOCK IF NEEDED TO BE CHANGED?!?!? she clearly just didnt want to be bothered and sit on her ass. I dropped my vehicle to get a state inspection. I dropped it off at 8:05am at the shop. The shop is around the corner from my home. I drove by around 10:30am and my car was moved towards the back of the parking lot I drove again around 11:45am and it was still parked in the same spot. I called to follow up and they told me that the vehicle did not pass. Ok, I said to my self, I went to pick it up at 11:57am the women that was at the front desk said that they called me and left a msg. I showed her that I did not get any phone call and I explained that I drove by twice and my car was parked for a hour and that is why I called. She keeped explains to me that it is the law that the car did not pass I told her that, that was not the point I told here that I never got any phone called from them I showed her my phone. She called the mechanic over he stated that he text me I didn't understand if I got a call or a texted. At this point I did not believe that I was ever called I took a day off and wasted my day for nothing and then he told me that the car failed at 8:45am. That means that the car was done for three hrs and I never received any calls. I think that all of the information-that was giving to me was not accurate and that is not part of customer service. I will never bring my car back to this repair shop or I will never recommend this place I don't think they are running a honest business. FYI the women at the front is very rude!! read more

Some months ago I needed to have a tire replaced, and Cove Tire put a new Michelin on my car. About 4 months later, I got another flat on the same tire. I must have run over a large screw that was embedded in the Michelin. I went back to Cove and the young woman at the desk said that Michelin might replace it for free, since I had it less than six months. I was doubtful, since the flat was not due to a tire defect, and was pleasantly surprised when I picked the car up, and found that Michelin did replace the tire for free.
