We were visiting Family in Sonora over the weekend and we wanted to bring a little something with us. After a quick yelp search we settled on baked goods and it seemed like Cover's was the place for that. We got so much more than a bakery. This is the cutest little place! They serve food (the breakfast looked amazing), baked goods, gift shop,train, park and a petting zoo. We settled on the Mile High Apple Pie and oh my God. It was SO good! Fresh baked from the oven with a perfect buttery crust and full of cinnamon apples. It was so good that we brought the leftovers home (which was 4 hours away). The Apple cider is one of the best I've ever had and I live near a Apple ranch that is known for their cider. I am so glad we found this place! We'll be back for sure! read more

Fun for kids, that includes healthy food that tastes great. Lots of home grown items. Price is on the high side but worth every penny. Baked goods are excellent. Superb sandwiches and soups. Pot pies are yummy too. Only set back is they close at 4 pm and closed on Sunday's and Monday's. My other half remembered going to this establishment as a child, thus, we stopped by Cover's while staying in the Twain Harte area. We purchased an apple pie, an apple dumpling, a cookie and a chicken pot pie-- all phenomenal. If you can buy 2 of their pies, do so. The actual property is pretty awesome, with a running train, an eating area inside where you can actually sit down and order from a menu, as well as a petting zoo. I have been coming here since I was a child, my family has always had a cabin in Twain Harte and this was always a staple when visiting. From their apple dumplings, to their turnovers, and cider- everything from here is delicious. You literally can't go wrong. During COVID, the drive thru option was perfect so socially distant. Great service I was expecting it to not be open because of the snow. It's wonderful to be able to go eat when most businesses are closed. The place is very clean and cute with many things to look at. I thank Yelp for helping me find this place! Homemade baked goods (includes gluten free cookies) and also "Take and bake" gluten free (and regular) pies available, but since I called ahead they baked one for us (GF ones usually frozen) and we went over there to eat it! We are just visiting the area (Black Oak Casino Resort) and even enjoyed some delicious tri-tip sandwiches on homemade gluten free bread which came with freshly made potato chips! They also have a good breakfast/lunch menu for people with normal diets. AN ADDED PLUS- there is a little farm for kids to see animals, a little train and playground :) Definitely a hidden jewel and I JUST might drive all the way out here to pick up pies for our holiday season (we are all gluten intolerant) to keep in the freezer. The gluten free apple pie was SO delicious that everyone licked their plates clean!!! We will definitely be stopping here every time we visit the area! This place is run by a family and fellow Old Brethren Church members so it is a very quaint and friendly place. They sell all sorts of jams/jellies, homemade fudge, and homemade wholesome snacks! Plus they have some very cute boutique-type items for sale :) They are CLOSED on Sundays! You can also call ahead to special-order a pie (I'm think a gluten-free peach, boysenberry, or strawberry-rhubarb pie will be on my wish list! They have the best cinnamon rolls! They have one with regular glaze and the other with buttercream. The buttercream frosting is my favorite cinnamon roll! I've also tried they breakfast sandwich with biscuit as my choice of bread. Best decision ever! You can tell it was homemade, so light and fluffy with a crispy outside. Definitely would go back and try their other items. A tip- first time we went, it was about 20 mins before the breakfast cut off. We were told that the chef was overwhelmed. The second time we arrived a lot earlier and there was about a 25 min wait time for our food. So go early and when you're not in a rush. read more

This place has THE BEST apple juice and apple cider I've ever had. Even beats the fresh pressed cider I've had elsewhere. I came here with my boyfriend during a romantic getaway in the mountains. We went in for breakfast, and also checked out the petting zoo and bought a ton of goodies to take with us. We went when it was raining, and I think some remodeling was going on, so there weren't a ton of animals, but the goats there were super cute and very affectionate. It looks like they also have a little train ride for kids, along with a pretty decent looking playground. Our breakfast was pretty good. I got the breakfast burrito and my boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy. Both were your standard country fare. Hearty and simple. The coffee was self serve with little flavored creamers. The coffee itself was tasty, but would be greatly improved with some fresh cream... just a thought. The pastries and pie we took to go were also hearty, simple, and tasty. The apple juice though. Unbelievably good. I got a four pack of the cider and drank it all in two days. I need more. Oh my god. Speaking of god... this place has an interesting history! It's changed hands a bunch, but now run by a large group of... I believe they are Mennonites. So you will see women dressed in a similar fashion to that of Amish women and get a real old school vibe from the place. Overall, a great way to spend our morning. For the family; the train ride is fun! It travels around the property, past the playground, the area where the cars animals are located then passed a pond you can't see via walking. Then takes you through a tunnel, like you are traveling through an old mine shaft passed the pond with a windmill back to the train depot. There is a playground for the youth a barn with farm animals, an penned area for pigs, goats, chickens and ? They have feed for sale out of a quarter gum ball style dispenser for sale to feed the various animals if you feel so inclined. The store offers freshly baked goods as well as other souvenirs. There is also a working bee hive where honey is being made by busy little bees you can watch as the make our honey! read more

This is a great place to stop with the family and grab a slice or whole apple pie to take home for later. They have so many baked goodies! However, their Mile-High Apple pie contains 3lbs of apples! In addition to their baked goods, they have picnic grounds and a farm/play area that is free for the kids to explore. There are bunnies, cows, horses, pigs, chickens and geese. One thing I really like about Covers are there cinnamon rolls. They're about $5 for a cinnamon roll the size of my face! and don't get me started on how generous they are with how much frosting they put on. 100/10 would recommend to someone who hasn't gone here before. read more

One of the only places we stopped in the Tuolumne county area. The food is made from scratch daily and always tastes fresh. Especially good are the homemade jams and pastry deserts. You can tell the chefs and workers really care and put extra effort into everything.
