After a history of purchasing approximately 12 or more automobiles/trucks from Covert Chevy in Bastrop, and being responsible for 8 or 10 more sales to others, on approximately the first of October of 2021 I made a deal with Robby Turner, a Covert Salesman, to purchase a pickup that was "in transit". I offered to send the money for the new/trade-in difference, but was told that I had been a friend/good customer for a long time, and that was not necessary. In April of 2022, the Covert website showed a very similar truck in stock for the same price, so I emailed and called Robby Turner to ask if that one would be available for the same price as the deal we made in October. I never got a reply to either. I periodically checked their website to see if the truck they had sold me had arrived. On the 9th of June, 2022, I noticed that it had arrived at the dealership, so called Robby Turner and asked him when I could pick it up. He started telling me how he didn't want me to take that truck, that it had sat on the lot too long, and those had to have new motors and were getting 8 MPG, had many problems, and he wanted to check the GM computer, and on and on and on. I never heard back from him, so I called a few days later, and he stated the GM computer was down, but he had a similar one in stock that he would let me have, but it was $4,000 more than the deal we had made. The repeated evasive strange stories I was getting made me suspicious, so I contacted the Covert Sales Department and was informed that the truck I had made the deal on the first of October of '21 was sold a day or so after it arrived at the dealership the first part of June of '22, and they told me the price it was sold for. It then became obvious that they made more money on that sale than the deal I had made in October of '21, so they sold it out from under me after I had waited 9 or 10 months for it to arrive. I then called Robby Turner again and listened to several more lies about why I shouldn't accept delivery of that truck before I informed him that I knew it had been sold out from under me. He feigned shock and did his best to act surprised. Having dealt with the owner of the dealership directly many times before, I texted him that I would like to talk to him, to which he replied he would return from out of town on Monday. I took one of my cars here to get an oil change on 5/11/18. The major issue they caused is now my car says "engine oil low, add oil". I just had them change my oil!! How can it be low?! Am I driving without enough oil? Secondly, they did not know how to take my tires off to rotate them properly, they only did half a rotation-which meant my husband had to finish the job. They thought they needed a special tool to take off my tires but must not have even tried to do it since my husband used the normal tools without a problem. On top of all this, while in the waiting area, during the oil change, there was a slide advertising their oil change rebate. I asked my service guy & the cashier for details & no one had a clue how to submit the rebate or how it even worked. The buying experience was good. Devin did a fine job getting me into a 2020 Z71. The service department is horrible. They set me up with an appointment for a spray in bed liner today. I took off work so I could leave my truck there all day. Turns out the guys that do the bed liners aren't even there today. Someone should know that. No apologies from anyone. Update 12/18/17: Went back to covert today and spoke with Jim McClain the service manager. Told him what happened and he stated that he would take care of it for us. He had a wrecker come and get the truck and they gave me a loaner for the day so I could get to work. They called let me know that it was ready to be picked up and that they would cover the next oil change and rotation. I went to pick up my truck and was met outside by Jim, he asked me if it was possible that some one tried to steal my rims. Are you kidding me!?! I told him that it was not possible! He said "...well these things happen, you know, we put pressure on people and things happen..." Again I say ARE YOU KIDDING ME! In my opinion it was almost like they tried to sweep it under the rug and act like it never happened. I checked the lug nuts and they did not look like they were new...they looked like my missing lug nuts that they forgot to put on my truck in the first place. I am very displeased with my service from this "certified" service center. I have never had a more horrific experience from your service department!!! I got a normal routine Oil Change and Tire Rotation on my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 and everything was going ok... then I parked my truck for the night (Tuesday 12/12/17) since it is my truck I use for Work only, I didn't use it again until Friday 12-15-17 when I noticed a "bump bump bump" noice coming from my tires... when I got home that evening I checked my tires and to my surprise I am MISSING 6 LUG NUTS!!!!! Not one, not two, S I X lug nuts!!! Your service department could have KILLED my family! I brought in a LEGAL TRUCK and you gave me an ILLEGAL vehicle in return, and charged me $300 dollars for it too???!!!??? Who do you think you are!!! We had our truck towed to Covert Bastrop on December 9th, 2021 & after giving the Ok for repairs was told they would start on it Monday the 13th & that it would take 3 weeks. We were traveling for the holidays & upon our return between Christmas & New Years, we were told that it wasn't ready but they were just waiting for a part. It took multiple phone calls & ignored messages to get that out of them. We went to check on it personally as soon as we got back in town & imagine our shock when we discovered the truck had never left the spot it was towed to! They hadn't even STARTED the repairs but the worst part was the lying! My husband got with the service manager & excuses were made but they did finally start & we got it back yesterday (Jan 17th! ). No explanations for the lies & they returned it to us with the Bluetooth messed up, the check tire light stays on & they didn't even have the courtesy to wash the truck before handing it over. We are so mad that we don't even want to bring it back in to fix the aforementioned issues which are still unresolved. I would NEVER, EVER, return to Covert Chevrolet even if insurance dictates it again. We plan on filing a complaint with State Farm on these issues & leaving as many bad reviews as we can! Oh, I forgot to mention that we're out over $3000 for the rental truck as our insurance only has a $1200 allowance for rentals. I live in San Antonio and was recommended to check out Covert Bastrop when I was looking for my new truck. I am so glad I did. I literally HATE the car buying process normally. The endless back and forth BS between the sales guy and his/her "Manager". The painful hostage negotiations in the Finance area. This experience was SO different. I had built my ideal truck on GMC.com and then checked inventory...so when I spoke with Chris Crawford and Rick Bowles I already had a VIN number to ask about. They were running a huge sale that I hoped to take advantage of...the challenge was that my truck was on a train and I wouldn't be able to take possession of the vehicle until well after the sale was over (a condition of the terms of the sale). No problem from their end, they said. Well, what about my trade in? I live in San Antonio. Do I need to drive over to Bastrop to have them evaluate my car? Nope! Just take pictures of your car (all 4 corners and the windshield) and text them over. Done! The result? About $3K over the max value estimated on Kelly Blue Book. My conversation with Ben Brightwell in the finance department took about 3 minutes...and the bulk of that was me asking some clarifying questions. It was literally the easiest conversation I have had with a Dealer Finance department. When my truck arrived, the had a porter deliver it to my home in San Antonio and drive my trade in away. This was by far the best purchase experience I have ever had. These guys were incredibly nice...all of them. The service and customer focus was outstanding. I got an amazing deal and never felt like I was going to have a Lucy and Charlie Brown football moment. Rafa is a hero - got me a new truck for what I was about to pay for a used one that had 60k miles on it at a Chevy dealership (won't mention) that swore up and down I'd never find a truck for the price I was looking for - You're an absolute fool if you don't give these guys a chance to earn your business because one thing will happen for sure they will earn your trust. At this point we were very anxious to close the deal on our new car on Sunday. It seemed that after 2 months of searching and dozens of inquires we had finally found what we were looking for, and from our favorite dealership no less. But as fairy-tale as it seems, this is not where the story ends... Sunday, 1:03PM, Voicemail from MK Sunday, 1:06PM, MK: Didn't know if you got my voicemail or not... Need to move the appointment till about 230 or 3 if that's OK with you Me: (Called MK on cell, no answer) 1:16PM, MK: Are you here? Strike 1... Finally we get into MK's office and it seems as though he has gotten amnesia, asking me all of the same questions again. Somewhere in our conversation I guess he remembered and asked to step away to fetch a vehicle he thinks fits our description. When MK returns he is driving a White Suburban, and it is LOADED (remember what I said about low MSRP). So, it's not a Yukon XL (which has the discounts I needed), and it's got every option except the darn engine block heater (Who needs that in Texas?) Strike 2... We kindly explain to MK that we do not think that he can get the price of the Suburban within our budget and ask him to find something else. MK asks us to drive the Suburban anyway, which we politely decline. Keep in mind, MK is working another deal simultaneously as he accepted a walk-on customer even though we had a previously scheduled appointment. At this point it is becoming clear to us that MK is trying to delay as much as possible to give time to his other deal. MK disappears for about 15 minutes, we are assuming he is locating the vehicle we had spoken about during our text conversation. When MK returns it's with bad news...he does not have ANY Yukon XL's with Adaptive Cruise Control. Strike 3... So there we were, 1 hour into our appointment, with 3 children in tow, after driving for an hour to get to the lot, and not even a single vehicle meets our criteria. Heartbroken, I believe is the word I will use. Pissed off works too. I tell MK that I'm sorry we couldn't make a deal, and that if anything changes to call me and we will see if work something out. But I wasn't done... Even though it was the middle of summer and over 100 degrees, I knew the odds were not in MK's favor that they had NO Yukon XL's with Adaptive Cruise Control. After all, they had over 50 in stock. So, I went for a walk down the Yukon XL aisles. Here is my last test to MK: Me: There are more than half a dozen Yukon XL's out here that have it. His lack of a response did not surprise me. I sure hope MK sold that $35,000 truck for the walk-on customer he decided to take instead of dedicating his time to my appointment. Sad that he let me walk out of his dealership with a $75,000 check from my bank just because he didn't want to do a little legwork. read more

My girlfriend is (was) dealing with a salesman for a $26,000 used car. Seems like they'd wanna help us out and sell us a car, right? Nah. She saw the SUV yesterday but wanted me to give my thoughts on the purchase. Her mind is (was!) pretty much made up, she really wants this vehicle and we've been looking for quite some time. The sales guy tells her he has to leave before closing but says NO PROBLEM he'll leave the keys with another salesman. They knew we would be arriving late because it takes almost an hour to get there from Austin. We arrive 20 minutes before closing and walk in. The sales guy hasn't given the keys to anyone and he's left for the night. For 10 minutes the receptionist and one sales guy look for the keys and finally find them at 10 minutes til closing. The sales guy tosses me the keys and says "My wife was expecting me home a half hour ago, the truck is over there somewhere, give the keys to the receptionist when you leave". Over there. Somewhere. And off he walks. Right then and there I made up my mind that NO WAY IN HELL would we be spending $26,000 at a dealership that can't even help you *during business hours*. I ask the receptionist, "You guys close at 8 today right?" I was very puzzled that no one wanted to sell us a car. The lady says "it's 5 minutes til 8" instead of YES we are open until 8. I remind her that it's in fact TEN minutes before 8, not 5 minutes before 8. If the original sales guy had done what he said we wouldn't be looking for keys at 10 minutes til closing. When we told the people at Nyle Maxwell in Hutto we'b be arriving shortly before close not only were we offered a test drive but we were also invited in to sit and discuss the vehicle after our drive was complete - even though it was 15 minutes past closing time. That, to me, is good service and indicative of how I'll be treated down the line. We go to look at the car and frankly I'm unimpressed. I'm 100% sure the lackadaisical attitude of the key tosser skewed my view..I mean if they don't even care to show you the car how are they gonna act when you have an actual problem?? One final thing: there is a fresh ketchup stain (still gooey!!) on the front floor carpet that was NOT there yesterday. Went in for a code and they couldn't figure it out. Richie the service Rep did not communicate unless I text him. Did not offer me a loaner, had to ask for one after a month. under no circumstances should you bring your vehicle for any service, i brought my 2016 Equinox in for an oil change, they screwed that up my not properly securing the oil filter cover, most of the oil leaked out inside the engine compartment, when i spoke with the service manager they sent a tow truck to bring my vehicle back and "correct" the issue, which apparently means lets just add oil and send it home, about 2 weeks later i started hearing a rattle and smelling burning oil, brought the car back and was told the camshaft bored a hole in the timing cover, the engine is ruined, and it has nothing to do with the messed up oil change. I have not had any major issues with this car, and i get the oil changed regularly. the 2 times i had the car there nothing was mentioned about any issues, and i was even told when i went to pick up the car the second time everything is fine, there are no leaks or issues. UPDATE, my car has now been there for 3 weeks, " in line to be torn down" not sure how any diagnosis as serious as this has been made with out a proper tear down, still receive no updates or calls, even when they say they will call, unless we call them first. Finally emailed the owner today, At this point i wouldn't even buy a soda from their vending machine. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE DEPARTMENT! 6 months ago they left lug nuts loose on my truck after a simple tire rotation and I was told by a FORD service manager that I was very lucky. Then thinking they might have had a bad employee I scheduled my vehicle to be dropped off with them for a check engine light. At that time the "so called service advisor" (what a joke) told me that it would be at least a week and half maybe more before they could repair a check engine light. Then I said okay make me another appointment for a week and half. Then this dude says well I can't do that because a week and half things change on our schedule and then it will be another week and half who knows. I was in such a bind because my car left me stranded and I couldn't find anyone who could come pick me up and take me to rent a car. As a last resort I called Covert in Bastrop, over 40 miles from where I was, within an hour they had a tow truck and loaner car brought to where I was stranded at. My car was repaired quickly and I was treated like I was a person of importance to them. I bought a 2021 GMC Canyon from a dealership in SA. I have 700 miles on truck engine light came on and took it to Covert Bastrop to have code read. I waited 2 hours and had no update so I asked for status since I was the first person there at 6:50am. They told me it would be another few hours before anyone could even look at it. I understand I did not have an appointment and there were people there who did, however, they could have had someone quickly look at the truck to see what the codes mean. The Service manager Todd was rude and arrogant I asked about a loner car so I could leave my truck there for them to look at when they could fit it in. He would not offer me once since the truck was not purchased at his dealership. Again it only has 700 miles on it and they are a dealership. The experience just ensured I won't even take my truck into that dealership for service. It's really bad business to take such a bad customer service stance. I would think dealerships back up all manufacturer vehicles but apparently Covert Bastrop only does if you purchase the vehicle from them. Horrible customer experience. Who thought the car buying experience could be refreshing?! Not me, until we worked with Covert. My wife and I had an absolutely terrible experience with Autonation. A friend gave us Chance's email and I reached out. Based on our past experience with other dealerships I didn't have a lot of hope or expectations. I got a call from Chance. He IMMEDIATELY found the car we were looking for. Within 5 min he had his sales guy send me a video of the car. 5 min later we agreed on a price that was better than anything I'd seen at any of the other dealerships. Then Chance had me text him a pic of my driver's license and said he'd put a plate on it and have it delivered to our house in Austin first thing the next morning so we could make sure the car was exactly what we were looking for. Again, past experiences with car dealerships - I was skeptical as it was already 3 PM. Sure enough, the car was sitting in front of our house the next morning before 8 AM. We drove it for 2 days and it was perfect. Covert overnighted the paperwork, we signed off and sent back. Done! It was really that easy! We had mentioned we wanted the front windows tinted and Chance had promised he'd take care of this as well. After all the paperwork was finalized they came back out to our house, picked up our new car, dropped off a loaner, and had our new car back with the newly tinted windows the same day! No additional charges or ancillary fees. Just great service. I told Chance and the folks at Covert I'd tell everyone I know about our positive experience so they too could walk away with a great deal and have a smooth, seamless experience. Bottom line - quit messing with the run around other dealerships will give you and call Chance. They'll make the car buying experience what it should always be: enjoyable. After not hearing from them for 4 weeks I called in. They had no record of me or my request. Very annoying waste of time. Bought a Z71 Tahoe, fully loaded. Spent lots of good money. Their service is horrible. We've tried to get the loud squeaky window fixed five times. We were told when we bought it that we'd get a loaner Tahoe while it was in service. Now they state we have to drive a car because they don't have loaner Tahoes. This is especially annoying because they originally gave us a loaner Tahoe a few times. They don't return phone calls or emails. First of let me tell I have bought a lot of cars, my Fathers business which I worked for from the time I was 20 tell I was 31 required use to buy a new car every year due to the miles we would put on them. So I have been though the buying process many time. Never was I treated so nicely. I had to buy a new work truck. They put the options on the table. Never pressured me, They walked me through all my financial option. Bent over backward to get me the best truck and deal I wanted. Eddie the sells guy was amazingly patient going though all the details. Jon Michael the finance guy was also very kind and patient, he also give my advice on another financial problem I was having that he didnt need to do, but did anyways. It is in you best interest to go see these guys ask to work with Eddie and Jon Michael you'll be happy you did. Dont pay attention to all the shollow bad comment about oil changes and what not. Had a great experience with Matt Murphy at Covert Chevrolet. We live much closer to two other Chevy dealers, but drove to Bastrop several times because of the great level of service Matt gave us. He called and emailed back promptly (on his day off, no less), had the colors of the vehicle we were interested parked and ready for us when we drove up. More importantly, Matt was by far the most knowledgeable and was able to demonstrate all the bells and whistles of the new 2015 Tahoe. With absolutely no pressure, he helped us figure out the features that fit our family best, and was always prompt to answer calls and emails. We were so pleased with our experience, we referred our daughter to Matt for her first ever solo car purchase - She had the same experience we did and we're both loving our new Tahoes. Our paperwork experience was painless - although we went with our Credit Union, their finance office offered us a great rate. THIS IS A CAUTIONARY TALE SO PLEASE READ BEFORE SPENDING ONE PENNY OF YOUR HARD EARNED CASH AT COVERT BUICK. I recently paid of my vehicle so this review has taken me years to write but I simply can't remain silent any longer. Before I begin, I must say that the lovely Buick Verano I purchased from Covert is truly a fantastic vehicle and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. I LOVE my Buick Verano! That being said, I should have avoided the Covert Buick dealership like the plague. I walked through the doors with APPROVED credit for more than $10k above than the MSRP on the Verano. Despite this fact, the salesperson I had an appointment with handed me off immediately to another (C Team) salesperson without any explanation OR another client regardless of the fact that I had scheduled the appointment with him the day prior. During the purchase process, I was never offered a demo or a test drive and it took more than eight hours total over two days to complete the purchase process. (I'm still furious with myself for putting up with this type of abuse!) On day one, after more than four hours of what (negotiation?), I left with no vehicle and a very offended & sour taste in my mouth. The following morning, a Saturday, I called another dealership and with only one phone call and one and a half hours wait for financing to write up the deal, I had a better deal on a vehicle with more features. Did I take the better deal & tell Covert to stuff it? Alas, no. I received a call from the Covert salesperson telling me that her financing office was willing to offer me anything I wanted to seal the deal which of course, was a complete & utter lie. It took yet another four hours to finalize the sale. UGH!!! I have been harboring frustration with myself for not walking out within the first five minutes and I take full responsible for not doing so. I'm fairly certain that my entire purchase process with Covert was a case of me trying to prove somehow that I was going to buy their vehicle even though they clearly did not want to sell it to me. In hindsight, this is such a shame because the other dealership was FAR SUPERIOR IN EVERY SINGLE WAY. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER purchase another vehicle from Covert and I share my experience with anybody I know who is in the market for a new vehicle. Literally the only friendly staff I encountered who seemed to want me to purchase a Buick from them was the service staff. Take your financing to a dealership who knows how to treat their customers. I won't name the competitor in this review, because I plan to write a glowing review for them. All these years later I still regret not purchasing my wonderful Buick from them instead of these @ssholes! Also, DO NOT believe the JD Powers rating for Covert. The initial work done is suspicious, as the transmission needed additional repairs, and I had to seek help elsewhere because the staff here failed to return a phone call after I spoke to an advisor in person, who reassured me that they would be able to do the work. I tend to flip in and out of vehicles often. So, I have spent my fair share of time in dealerships. Covert was one of my best experiences. In fact, it ranks #2 on my all time list but is still worthy of 5 stars. John was honest and straight forward. I absolutely cannot stand the back and forth game car sales-people play. I am an educated buyer. Spreadsheets on m iPad, etc. So the marker on the white paper "if we get you here will you buy" crap doesn't fly with me. I don't do it. Thankfully, John at Covert Chevy did not do that. He was patient with us (specifically my wife) by allowing us to look at multiple interiors and color choices. Never did he pressure us to "do the deal." He treated us like we were long term customers even though we just met. I appreciate that. We will be back. Give them a look if you are in the market. They will not (as least John will not) beat you down like most sales-people/dealerships. read more

Hard to believe I would give any rating to a car dealer, but here I go. In the case of this dealer and our salesman ( Rick Zamora ) this was a most positive experience. Possibly the only positive buying experience in my life and I have bought a lot of cars. Fast, no waiting, no BS, just an offer and close. They even found the car I was looking for in Austin but somehow got lost and the team amd GM in Bastrop had it delivered for us to see it closer to home. Rick was awesome and we even got to meet and talk to the owner who came over while we were waiting for paperwork to make certain we were having a good experience. I was in need of a new car. I hit a deer on the 71. This was 1 year ago. I purchased a used Tahoe from this dealership. There were a few things that did need attention. The Salesman promised me they would be fixed. Brakes, paint chips on the body, crayon marks in the interior,The new face for the radio, sunroof was messed up, and the biggest issue was the engine was misfiring. One year later and I am still dealing with the issues. The salesman has stopped answering my calls. I have taken the car back on regular scheduled oil changes as well as other issues that have come up. Oh and the battery just stopped working, completely died! On my last visit I finally got to speak to the manager of service and he instantly felt the issue with the car, without test driving. He said he would follow back up with me and he never did. I had to leave work and bring it in. At this point everyone in my office thinks I bought a LEMON! So I did end up bringing it in. I've been a week with out the Tahoe again. And I get a call from the service department. The guy is great but the price he is giving me is very high. Here is where I would expect customer service to kick in.... and it did not. Here I was hoping they were not like other places known for being car salesman... but in the end you end up being right. All they want to do is sell you and forget about you. I drove from bryan because their website showed 10 ford f250s on their lot and when I got there they had none. I called them and thier response was thier had multiple Locations in different cities and they have all their inventory on each locations website. Are you kidding me! So dont waste your time dealing with this dealership, it's a waste of your time. read more
