I've been buying F-150 trucks from Leif Johnson for almost fifteen years and I just love this dealership, the people, and the vibe of the building and location in Central Austin. It's a lot of positive things, but I guess a big part in that it feels like a small town dealership where you can know everyone in the middle of a big city. I grew up in a rural area and I love being valued as a customer and recognized when I walk through the showroom! It's like the 1970s and I love it! It's really about relationships and overall, I've had great buying and service experiences here and I enjoy interacting with everyone from the front doors to the parts house on the street behind the dealership. Like always with negotiating deals to buy a vehicle, there can be a little contention in the process, but I always get a good deal based on pricing ( check on Internet for deals and specials to get lowest price) The thing that really makes my experiences there solid in addition to the sales team and managers is the finance and the service team who really are hard working and offer great communication and transparency with a sense of urgency. In a few months Leif Johnson Ford will be moving southwest to a new modern dealership and I believe that it will only be better! Can't wait, although I'll miss the Koenig Lane and Airport Blvd location. read more

How many service techs does it take to change a lightbulb at Leif Johnson Ford? This is the worst Ford service experience ever in Austin, TX. It started when my daughter who is a UT student brought her car in because she couldn't see when she was driving at night. The Leif Johnson Ford service department took a few hours to diagnose it and then told my daughter there was nothing wrong, and she didn't know how to use the automatic lights. They shamed her and mansplained how nothing was wrong w/ her lights. They made her feel bad about it, and did not fix the problem. So she had to drive w/o headlights for a few more weeks. So I was in town a few weeks later visiting, and my wife and I took the car back to Leif Johnson Ford Service Department and explained the problem, and I swear we had four Leif Johnson Ford Service Techs staring at us like they didn't know what could possibly be wrong with our Ford Escape, and couldn't see anything wrong w/ the headlights. It was shocking the low level of intelligence and communication. "I don't know what it could be?" I was finally able to prove the headlights were out - and the service rep took the car for a day and changed the bulbs for us. My wife and I had to rent a car for the day, and spend hours going back and forth, after my daughter had already spent hours on her first visit to Leif Johnson Ford Service in Austin Texas. I'm not sure what is wrong with this place. If you are a woman or a University of Texas student, I would avoid this place for sure. If you want good service, I would avoid Leif Johnson Ford Service. When I spoke to the service manager and asked him about why it was so difficult for us to get our headlamp bulbs changed, he explained that all cars are different and the lighting systems are very complex. And I'm like, hey man, this 2017 Ford Escape is Ford's best selling vehicle and you're telling me your best service techs have never seen a burnt out light bulb? When all was said and done we were sent away. No discount. No apology. Only arrogance from Leif Johnson Ford. Stay far away. It took Several months to get our Licenses Plate, they did not inform of us of the change to the DPSs system. Which resulted in us driving around with an expired dealers tag. When they tags did arrive they didn't call us for another three days. They lied about processing our trade in and that also took several months to clearup. We were getting letters in the mail of late or missing payments for a car they said they had paid off. All during this process our sales person never once answered any texts or calls to explain. Worked with used car dept back in November, first i asked them to not run my credit as I already had set up financing from my credit union. They ran my credit anyway. Secondly, we were trading in a vehicle, i told them not to take off license plates or start transferring our vehicle to them until we were done with the deal. They did it anyway. We could not come to an agreement on buying a vehicle so we walked. SO glad we did. When it was time to renew registration we were told by tax office that our plates were invalid. The dealership put through paperwork before we signed the deal, so the state had our plates as invalid. Luckily we were not pulled over at any time as it would have shown we were driving illegally. Now we have to order new plates before we can renew our registration. We were told all paperwork would be discarded once we decided not to buy a car from them. They lied. I would not recommend dealing with this dealership for anything. read more

So I left this wonderful review for Leif Johnson Ford on Konig Lane yesterday. But now I see it never saved it. I want to reach out mainly to the disabled community. The Ford dealers now have a new service. They will come pick up your car and take it back to get fixed and then drop it off to your home free of charge! I had said I never heard of this service before and I've had my Mustang for 11 years. The gentleman had said no this is New and I said oh how wonderful is this for somebody like me. Also for certain recalls, they can actually do it in the driveway of your home. I also had that experience with Leif Johnson Ford again this morning. My car is back in for a third recall and they're right on top of it they came to get it and then they'll bring it home whenever it's done. I must commend this company for seeing a whole new type of customer than they're used to. And all Ford dealerships will be offering the same service. If for some reason, they're not sure when you ask them it's because not all associates have heard of it because there's a lot of new hires in the beginning of every year. So just ask them if your car's gotta go in for anything they will come get it for you no matter how far I am 28 miles from where there are now. And they still picked it up and brought it back home free of charge. This is an outstanding service for people with disabilities or other physical types of situations. I can only drive a certain distance about maybe 15 miles at best because my legs get tired easily due to my disease called CIDP. It's a nerve disorder where your white cells it's auto immune your white cells chew on your nerves making them less effective and at times making your feet and legs numb. On those type of days, I would never dream of touching my car. But most of the days I can drive and I'm thankful for the Lord giving me that gift that I can keep. Again, this is not about me. This is about Leif Johnson Ford and they're amazing Customer Service they've been through a lot and a lot of turnover but now they're definitely producing a great service to everyone so for all of you out there next time you need a service for your Ford and you bought it at any Ford dealership call and ask them about the service. You will not have to go there or leave your car. Have someone bring you home? Nothing like that they pick it up and drop it off and bring it home Home Again and that's it. God bless all of you at Leif Johnson Ford. I bet you're the ones that started it and the others followed. I had an amazing experience in 2016. I had previously had a good experience and thought I would try them again for service, cost me around $800 more than it should have and I will not be back. I had to have a radiator replaced and they cost $3141.oo which didn't feel right and I asked multiple times as to why it cost so much, parts costs were the reason. I approved it to get my vehicle back and felt sick enough about the experience to go get quotes. Kwik Kar and Maxwell Ford (Group 1 Ford) quoted $2340.oo and $2552.oo respectively. Both of their labor rates and parts costs aligned and were roughly 37% less than Leif Johnson. The delivery manager Troy returned my initial phone call and then made no further attempts to reach out to possibly resolve the discrepancy. I approved the repair, that's entirely on me. But I will not be back. read more

I took my 2017 F-150 for service as it was experiencing rough downshifting within a specific gear, which is a known problem for the F-150 with ten speed transmission. The known fix is to clear the adaptive learning table for the automatic transmission shifting. The service tech claimed he cleared the transmission table but it didn't work. The service rep said the fix was to change a part within my transmission, which would cost over $5,000. I was able to purchase an OBD scanner and the FORScan program and fixed the issue within two minutes. The issue has been resolved with the transmission shifting smoothly now. Not only did they not try to conduct the simple fix as I told them what they needed to do. They also charged me a diagnostic fee of over $200. Be warned. read more

Honestly worst place I've ever been to I am trying to get some warranty work done with a ford f-150 platinum. They did not call me back with any updates I had to call them and come to find out it has been put outside for pick up and they could not find any codes in the car when I saw them on my own scan tool. After going to pick it up because "there was nothing else they can do now" I found my rear differential locker has been broken off from the dash and just set back in its spot loose ,again no notice of this happening seems like they like to hide things like this. Also while talking with a service advisor apparently they do not clear codes from the car at all to diagnose current issue once I used my own scan tool I found that they in fact did clear codes because the evaporative system tests had not passed it's ready monitor. Word of advise do not do any warranty work with them you will get nowhere please try another dealer or independent shops if u can. read more

If they say you have transmission issue, get a second opinion before you have them do anything!! My ford fusion was not drivable, I took it here to see what happened. I get told I need a whole new transmission and it would cost 9k. I knew it would expensive but I wanted a second opinion since my sales person wouldn't give me anymore detail besides that. I had it towed to another location, after fighting with them to pay the 250 bucks to diagnose it. Sadly had to drive up there to pay my bill since they wouldn't text me/email me to pay it. SO GLAD I did it! Turns out it wasn't my transmission at all, it was a simple circuit board and a rat that ate several wires. That 9k comes down to 1k. Save your money!!!! read more

Had them change my brake, transmission and rear differential fluid. When I got home after, the transmission pan was absolutely destroyed and leaking, brake fluid everywhere and to top that, the rear differential cover wasn't put back on, bolts were partially screwed in. They replaced the damaged trans pan and added fluid but caused thousands of dollars in damages originally. Avoid them. read more

The dealership has not been honest about the existing issues with the vehicle. The salesperson became unresponsive immediately after the sale was completed and has failed to return any calls or messages regarding the problems found with the purchased vehicle. Furthermore, a Buyer's Plate Receipt containing the personal information of a previous buyer was discovered inside the vehicle, raising serious concerns about the dealership's handling of customer privacy and vehicle preparation. We do not recommend this dealership, and Ford Motor Company should investigate this privacy breach and the dealership's overall business practices. read more

I recently took my car to Leif Johnson for a recall service and had an amazing experience--especially thanks to Brandon Large. From the moment I arrived, Brandon was friendly, and helpful, and went above and beyond to make things easy for me. At the end of the day, when the car was ready, I wasn't able to pick it up. Without hesitation, Brandon offered to have it delivered to my home--even though I live about 30 miles away. I mentioned that my gas tank was empty, and he went the extra mile (literally!) by putting some gas in the car before sending it out. The driver who delivered it was also incredibly courteous. The whole experience was smooth, thoughtful, and so convenient. I truly appreciate the outstanding customer service and will definitely be back. Highly recommend! read more

Looking at reviews, I should have known better. We scheduled a regular service and because of the way ford made its lights, you have to take it in to replace a blinker light. They kept my car for two days. Leaving me without a vehicle while having a child in school where I have to pick up and drop off. As if that wasn't enough the front was not put on correctly and was essentially hanging. How about that for safety?! Taking it back between Dr. Appointments and husband missing work AGAIN Mr. Ken Hatler was my contact and he was absolutely rude and condescending. Who hired him as manager. I dont care if they got bought out and all staff is being fired. I expect good service. Ford Corporation needs to be alerted. I want to give a personal shout out to my salesman his name is Kareem .He went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of Through out the whole process of buying the truck but even after when I needed the truck to get serviced. He was there making sure that I was taking care of and all my issues were addressed. i bought a service truck and traded in my old work truck and had lots of tools and in my bed. It would have taken me hours to transfer my tools, it was 100 degrees that day and he seen me out there and didn't hesitate he jumped right in to help me. I really appreciate there whole team. they work with me on my price and payment. Over all it was an excellent experience. they will definitely get my business again in the future. We took our Ford F150 to Leif Johnson Ford with what we suspected to be transmission problems over a year ago, and they agreed we needed a new transmission. AT THIS TIME WE WERE UNDER WARRANTY with Preferred Warranty, who came out and said there was no issue with the transmission. Leif Johnson Ford did nothing to attempt to replicate the problem and returned the car to us. Of course the issue persisted over the next year, because the transmission wasn't replaced, and our truck was back with Leif Johnson Ford multiple times. Finally our truck became un-drivable two weeks ago so we took it to the nearest dealer to where we were at the time, Covert in Hutto. We have since learned that the transmission does in fact need to be replaced at a cost of $9000. Our 21-year-old son did a YouTube search and immediately found there exact, known issue with our model of truck, verified by Covert's diagnosis. Of course now the truck is out of warranty. Leif Johnson has this documented in their service records from back when our truck was under warranty. They knew we had a problem and did nothing to advocate for us with the warranty company. Now we are faced with a $9000 bill that should have been covered by the warranty. Leif Johnson Ford needs to do the right thing and work with the warranty company, as they should have before, and cover the repair at no expense to us. With this level of customer service I cannot recommend Leif Johnson Ford to anyone at all. read more

Weren't expecting a visit but on our way to Thinkery the under engine protection plate of our Honda came undone after hitting a bike pump randomly in the middle of the road. The metal started scraping the road so we had to pull over. Lo and behold the next place to pull in is this dealership and auto repair - what are the odds. Even though we had a Honda, we were very welcomed in and the car was brought in right away to try to fix it. Although they tried to get the part from the Honda dealership, Honda was closed. So they removed the metal part that was dragging and sent us on our way to be very careful and schedule a repair at Honda when they opened. Didn't charge us a dime. This review is the least we could do. They made what could have been a major halt to our fun day an easy way to get back on the road. read more

I had to return a Subaru, which I purchased from Leif Johnson, just to go 11k upside down on a used Colorado. The Subaru sold to me had after market parts, which caused engine issues. Once in the Colorado, I found that someone tried to hide a scratch using a Leif Johnson sticker. Completely unprofessional. Upon signing for the Colorado I had an associate wave me down to finish the paperwork which I assumed was already completed. After spending all day at the dealership, and having returned 5 times (in 6weeks) prior to service the Subaru I felt mentally and physically drained. Worst customer service experience ever. Was made to feel like I was being done a favor only to find out that I'd be upside down 11k, which I reluctantly accepted seeing how I need a vehicle to work. I will never return to Leif Johnson, and will be telling everyone I know to stay away. I questioned how this could happen on a diesel truck with only 120,000 miles. So they did a quick fix , kept my truck over night and charged me over $500 the next morning. Just bought a Bronco recently from here. Cullen Walsh, one of their salesman, was an absolute pleasure to work with. He made the entire process so easy. Very personable and hardworking. He worked at all hours the day beforehand to make sure everything was ready to go as I had to drive in from out of town (they had the best deal near me). I had family join me and he immediately welcomed us with beverages and had the vehicle detailed and ready for a test drive. My family had nothing but nice things to say about him even days after the sale. He was very honest and straightforward from the get go. Never tried to upsell or uncharge or waste anyone's time. He was also very knowledgeable specifically on Bronco's as he himself also owns one and believes in the product. Even days after the sale he still checks in and updates me. I cannot say enough nice things about Cullen and my experience at the dealership. I highly recommend you asking for. him personally. Ryan with financial services was also great to work with! He tried his best to make the extra upgrades worthwhile but was totally respectful and not pushy when I declined almost all of them; he was honest the whole time and made the process as quick as possible. I bought a Corolla this summer from Leif Johnson Ford at a time when I needed a car as soon as possible--no time to wait. I worked with Robert Juarez, who is on the sales staff, and Scott Tell, the manager of the used car division. They were both a pleasure to work with. Scott saw to it that the tint on the back window was replaced when I asked him to; he was always pleasant, helpful, and patient no matter how busy the dealership got, and he took the time to chat with me a bit, which I thought was very nice--customers really do appreciate personal attention. My only advice is to go on a day that is not Saturday, as the place is very busy and so you might have to wait a bit. But that's a good sign, right? This is not my first review of the service I have received from Leif Johnson Ford in Buda, Texas. However, I feel compelled to write another review about the service I received this morning, August 30, 2024. Last night the battery in my 2014 Ford Edge decided to die...and at the most inappropriate time. I was able to get a "battery jump" from the person parked next to me and to get myself back home. I called Leif Johnson's Mobile Service department this morning at 9am ...speaking with Charles Trujillo. He remembered me from my last car issue with my AC. I told Mr. Trujillo what was going on with my car battery and asked him what I was looking at as to the cost of a new battery and installation. He said he would check on prices and get back with me. About 10 minutes later, Mr. Trujillo called me back, gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. He told me that I would be called later today as to when I might expect a service tech to come to my home to install the new battery. About 30 minutes later, Mr. Trujillo called me back saying he was on the way to my home himself...he did not have an available tech, who could get to me today, and he didn't want me to be without a vehicle over this long weekend. Being an older individual, having reliable transportation is a necessity, given the possibility of unforeseen health issues, especially at this time of year in Texas (referring to our excessive heat). From my initial contact with Mr. Trujillo at 9am this morning to the time he exited my driveway, having installed the new battery, not even two hours had passed. I challenge any other company...large or small...to beat that level of customer service. I have no ties with Leif Johnson Ford of Buda, Texas, other than that of a very loyal customer. The price I pay for products and service is not discounted, just because I might write a positive review. I'm writing this review simply because I want to share my experience, so others can have the same, when they do business with this company. read more
