I recently stopped by Yummy Future in Palo Alto, and it's definitely worth checking out! What first caught my eye were their long hours. It's open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM which is perfect for anyone who loves to find a spot to work or study late. The vibe inside is incredibly calm and peaceful. They've really nailed the modern, futuristic aesthetic with polished wooden tables and a sleek design that makes for a great atmosphere. My partner and I ordered a medium iced black sesame latte and a vanilla latte, which came out to $15.82. Watching the coffee being made by a machine was super cool, and both drinks were really delicious. The ordering process is fully automated via a kiosk, so don't expect a barista to take your order. There is one staff member present, though, who calls out names when orders are ready. It's a unique, machine-centric experience. If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable place to relax, bring your laptop, and get some serious work or studying done, this spot is absolutely it! read more

This is a cool coffee shop with excellent vibes. I saw a bunch of people sitting and working on cubicles. There is even a self ordering kiosk behind them, even if they could have just got up and ordered in the front. Not sure if the engineers are startup founders. But it is cool to see a coffee shop that looks like office. Even in the front I found people just pitching and explaining software concepts. As for drinks, I went with an iced pistachio cream matcha latte. It was a good drink, could have been stronger on both pistachio and matcha flavors. I loved the Honey Cake. Great cafe to go sit down and work/write/do quiet hobbies! There is plenty of seating, however, it does get full even though the cafe itself is long and goes inwards. Sometimes it feels like the walk of shame looking around for seating and finding none at all. There are a few small awkward, non-functional tables they have when you walk right in, and it just hurts your back to sit there. Unsure of why it is there.. But the drinks and the pastries are delicious! The drinks are made by a robotic arm, which is terribly gimicky and so palo alto but okay. I especially enjoy the black sesame cold foam that can be added to the drink, makes my latte more enjoyable. read more

Went on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty busy. There's a good amount of seating, but most of the tables near the front are no-laptop zones (though I saw some people using their laptops). Cute wooden aesthetic, but sitting on my wooden stool hurt after a bit. The back also has white boards along the walls for those who find that helpful. Free wifi and lots of outlets. There are also tablets to order from placed throughout the cafe. Free 2-hr street parking outside, plus free 2/3-hr lots depending on what zone in downtown you're in. I was able to find parking pretty quickly, but it can definitely be busy depending on when you go.  -iced pistachio cream latte (4/5): only comes in medium or large. I appreciated how customizable their drinks are (#shots, syrup, and the usual milk/ice), it's similar to Starbucks in that way. Overall the drink was good, nothing crazy. The pistachio cream didn't taste artificial which I appreciated, but the coffee could've been more aromatic  Overall, a cute spot to do work or hang out with friends. Parking is a bit difficult, but there are plenty tables around to do work. It was a busy afternoon when I went. There's a self serve kiosk and it was fun to watch the robots make my drinks. There's also a really good selection of drinks, pastries, and snacks. For tables, there are places specifically noted not for laptops. I was able to journal here and relax. I didn't realize this place was robot made so I may have picked a real barista but I already paid so I'm trying it. The girl at the counter was friendly and helpful. Tried the black sesame latte and the pistachio matcha. The matcha was kind of mid, pistachio cream was alright, and the black sesame was the standout though not amazing. Ambience is what sells this place. Long layout, warm lighting, lots of wood. Some tables say "no laptops" but people ended up ignoring it, and the comfy laptop spots in the back were filled up. Staff was friendly, though a machine is doing most of the drink making. Good spot to work if you're nearby, otherwise not worth going out of your way for. read more

5 stars simply for the space!! This is the best working cafe I've ever been to. I've been working here daily for the past 2 weeks and it's amazing! Several seating for individuals and longer tables for groups. Outlets are available as well as white boards on the wall! A perfect place to get work done. It's not loud, with soft music playing in the background. I haven't tried too many of the drinks here, just a regular soy latte, which was good. A robot made my hot chocolate this morning. So you place your order on a touch screen, pay on the same screen, and the robot moves a cup to a machine which makes your drink then sets it on a counter. A human calls out your name. So this is basically ordering your drink from a vending machine and it tastes like it. read more

This is my favorite place to study!! It's clean and big inside with lots of comfortable seating and outlets. The music also isn't atrociously loud like some other cafes. Very conducive for getting work done! They have a good selection of drinks and food as well. I only tried their caramel cream top cold brew which I thought was alright. Interesting coffee shop. It's very chic and the gimmick is there is a robot arm that is preparing most of the drinks. It gets the cup, adds ice if it's a cold drink, gets the coffee / drink, and puts the cup down. It's fun to watch it zoom around. There are iPad kiosks but you can also order with the baristas if you want. I tried the iced vanilla latte with decaf and thought it was fine. I did one less pump of syrup (so, 2 pumps in total vs 3) and I still found it a bit sweet so I'd try 1 pump next. My spouse got the iced pistachio latte. It was a bit sweet. But the space is great to get work done so pretty worth it and so many outlets for laptops. There's even areas for no laptops. I always see this place passing by but never tried it until now. I saw the pistachio cream jasmine milk tea online and decided to try it. I purchased the monkey bread and the tea, and I think it was about $14 total for both items. As I was waiting for my drink to be made, I realized all the employees were chit chatting and that's because ... a robot arm was making my drinking lol, so the name is fitting I guess. It is not clear to me exactly what this establishment is trying to do, but nevertheless I think it is great. The sandwiches and pastries are all delivered from nearby vendors (Manresa and Sprout Cafe, I believe) rather than made in-house, but the interior is spacious, warm, and inviting, and with a definite techno-modernism that is surprisingly uncommon in Palo Alto. There's a great deal of space to work, and indeed the space invites you to stay and linger. I hope to see it thrive! read more

Writing this review based on aesthetics and pastries. I have yet to try their robot barista coffee. I believe it's still a soft opening. Their pastries are yummy, had their plain croissant. Let me rave about the inside tho-- So beautiful and warm. Great place to work and drink or meet a friend. The outside may looks small but it's big inside. Ive seen robot baristas at the airport so I'm curious if these are the same or better. Is it gimicky? Are they just going to pull premade drinks on top? This was a cute cafe with lots of seating deeper in for you to sit down and work. It's not too loud, but lively enough. The cashier helping us order our drinks was very friendly and she walked us through how to order on the app for rewards instead. We got the pistachio matcha latte and toffee nut vanilla shaken espresso! It was cool to see the robot make our drinks! The pistachio latte was pretty good! Good pistachio and matcha flavor! The toffee nut vanilla was not bad, but it wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be based on the name and the picture. They had some cool drinks on their menu! I was a bit taken aback when my drink didn't match the image they advertised. I got a matcha with sesame. It's really bright and distinctive and comes in an actual glass in the advertised photo. But as you can see in my photo, the green matcha and Grey sesame just blend together. Also, I don't like that they only have plastic cups. I also thought it was amusing that they ask for tips when a robot makes your drinks and charge the typical price when the drink comes out of the heavy-duty drink machines available for hotel and workplaces. As for the drink itself, I found it decent. The interior is quite lovely. I'm not sure if I'll come back though given the plastic cups. read more

I think I found my new study spot! Yummy future has plentiful seating, warm lighting, and lots of outlets throughout their cafe. Yummy future's drinks are made by a robotic machine that you can watch make your order. Would give this place a 4.5/5 for the reasons listed below: Food: drinks are delicious! Ordered a lavender cream matcha and strawberry cream matcha, which both had great flavors in the cream! Would 100% order again. Will have to try the pastries next time I'm here. Service: Staff are friendly and attentive to needs; worked super quickly to refill the toilet paper in the bathroom. Ambiance: Cozy and clean, with lots of warm lighting and seating. Minus 0.5 stars because food was a bit pricier than expected ($8 for a medium cup of matcha with oat milk). Parking: lots of available street parking. Based on how this place is advertised, I thought this would be a fully automated end to end experience. While you can order at the kiosks, there is a human worker behind the register to also take your order. I ordered an iced americano. I didn't see how my drink was made, but I did see the worker walking over with my drink and calling out my name so I'm not sure how much of the process was automated, which I was hoping to see. They also have a few pastry selections to choose from in addition to their drink options. The inside is modern with plenty of tables and benches. The middle portion is a "laptop free" zone which I think is a bit ironic given this is supposed to be a tech forward establishment. read more

If you like working in cafes, definitely add this place to your list. The cafe is very spacious, the pastries are delicious, and the drinks are pretty good too. Each table has plenty of outlets, which makes it perfect for working. I do wish the cold brew was a bit stronger since the coffee is lighter compared to places like Philz or Starbucks, but I honestly did not mind it. I really loved and enjoyed this cafe, and the pastry I got was so good that I will definitely order it again. The staff is very nice and friendly, the place is clean, and ordering is easy. Theyre more than happy to provide recommendations and customize your drink as needed. The foams are delicious - i tried it in strawberry and black sesame. Great study and working space - very peaceful and quiet. Wifi is also strong here. I got the matcha latte with strawberry foam and it was pretty tasty, but the matcha tasted a bit watered down. Overall I'd come here if I had work to do and we need more public working spots! read more

Cool concept. Not good coffee unfortunately. Robot was great, very quick, and very efficient. This is a good alternative to Starbucks, but not for a craft shop like Verve, Blue Bottle, or GoodThing nearby. If the business name didn't mention "coffee," I would have been more inclined to try something else. The flavors and drink creations are very fun and trendy, but are over-sweetened with syrups that mask the actual coffee/espresso, which is tasted a little empty.. Similar to other automated machine-made espresso drinks like the ones at IKEA. Staff is very friendly, interior is very clean with a nice vibe. This is a great experience but not somewhere I would choose for good coffee. I'll have to try their other coffee-less products for a later review. read more
