Pandan/Klepon Lattes + Pastel Ayam, Roti Bakso, Nagasari, Risoles (crepe, creamy chicken filling)
    Sabrina J.

Hijau Coffee might be the first Indonesian coffee shop in San Jose. I went on a Sunday at 12 PM, the day after the grand opening, and it was not too crowded. We ordered: - Pandan Latte ($7) - very good, nice pandan flavor, not too sweet - Klepton Latte ($7.50) - also good, the coconut milk flavor shines through, not too sweet - Pastel Ayam ($6) - basically an Indonesian empanada, okay - Roti Bakso ($6.50) - milk bun with ground chicken, the bun was a bit dry - Nagasari ($5) - steamed rice flour with banana filling in banana leaf, pretty good - Risoles ($6) - deep-fried rolled savory crepe with creamy chicken filling, really good, would definitely recommend ordering! The interior is very tasteful with nice Indonesian textiles on the walls and theme of green. It's very spacious with lots of room to chat with folks or work on a laptop! As someone who values sustainability, I also like that they offer reusable glass cups if you dine in. This will probably become one of my go-to coffee shops in the South Bay. They are off to a great start!

Stumbled upon Hijau Coffee's grand opening and we were so lucky we did! I haven't had coffee from Indonesia since my trip in 2017, and after one sip I was immediately transported back! Almost ordered the pandan latte then did a double take and Ordered the Klepon- pandan syrup with coconut milk and coconut flakes!! The espresso was strong but not overbearing! Loved the vibe of the cafe! The staff was really friendly and attentive; all very excited for the new cafe. Very family friendly too- they have a lactation corner and they even have a shelf of children's books. We will definitely back again!

Hijau - what a welcome representation of Indonesian coffee in the area!! Pandan latte was a solid drink but nothing that blew me away. I want to try their other drinks The place had a good amount of seating so I would love to do work here or hang out with friends. The coffee shop is in an interesting corner so there are technically two sides for seating. The parking garage seems pretty hit or miss with spots especially on weekends where it's crowded. I'll be back to try the other drinks!

Hijau Coffee's new store is open, so I decided to visit since I missed their pandan lattes. Parking near the store is limited, and I ended up parking in the Safeway parking lot across the street. The interior of the store is beautiful, and shows a lot of Indonesian culture and art. Service is nice and fast. I got the Pandan latte for here to enjoy the vibe of the store. The drink tasted as great as I remember, with that subtle yet prevalent pandan taste I love. I also got some coffee beans as well, to take the flavors back home. I'll definitely visit the shop from time to time, especially when they got new seasonal drinks! What a great coffee shop, and I'm happy I can once again get their special lattes again!

I heard about this place at various media outlets, so I decided to check them out. To begin with, parking could be a little confusing with there to enter. A key thing to remember is that the entrance is outside of the garage, on the street. When I walked in, I was immediately impressed with the decor: they had a live tree and what looked like live potted plants. I could tell that they tried really hard to bring greenery inside. I ordered the Klepan and Nastar Latte: I really enjoyed pinnacle syrup in the Nastar Latte; it added a really nice fruitiness to the coffee. The Klepan was also really good with the coconut milk. The staff was also really friendly and helpful.

4.5 STARS Just what Man Jose needs...another coffee shop? There's been hella coffee (and matcha) shops opening in the bay so what makes Hijau Coffee stand out? They're the FIRST Indonesian Coffee Shop to open in the South Bay, and the third in the bay. And, they're not just another third wave coffee shop that's all about "the vibes" and your socials. Pop-up turned brick and mortar, Hijau's beautiful new space feels intentional - warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed with earth tones, greenery, and cozy lounge spaces. There's also few outdoor tables. Love the relaxed, community-oriented feel to it. In-person orders. Restroom available. WiFi available. M E N U Limited soft opening menu with three signature lattes, espresso, and matcha ($4.25-$7.50). Indonesian origin beans used. Decaf available. Oat milk +$1. Array of American pastries available; e.g. morning bun, croissants, muffins, and scones ($5-$6.25). Hopefully in the future, they'll roll out Indonesian snacks/small bites like nastar (pineapple tart), martabak (stuffed flatbread), kue lapis (steamed layered cake), etc. D R I N K S * Iced Pandan Latte w/ espresso, house-made pandan syrup, sub oat milk ($8) Creamy, lightly sweet, and vanilla-y, the pandan latte was our fav of the two. The coffee flavor is on the lighter side, letting the pandan flavor shine. * Iced Klepon Latte w/ espresso, coconut milk, housemade palm sugar pandan syrup, toasted coconut flakes ($7.50) - Cannot sub coconut milk If you enjoy tropical nutty flavors and not so coffee-forward drinks, this will be your jam. S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. P A R K I N G Difficult street parking. While there's garage parking, it's shared with The Breakfast Club and other businesses so on the weekends, you may be at the mercy of someone leaving. Overall, Hijau Coffee is an awesome addition to San Jo serving up a solid pandan latte in in a warm, community-oriented space.

Finally got to stop by Sat morning at opening time 8am. There was still alot of parking in the garage luckily at the time but im sure it fills up later in the morning as there is a breakfast/brunch spot next door as well. After walking thru the long corridor from the parking lot entrance, u see alot of light wooden pastel decor and it is so welcoming and cute! They sell coffee beans and other merchandise like cups and bottles and hats. They sell coffee, matcha, as well as pastries (and are able to warm it up for u). Ordered the pandan latte whole milk regular sweet bc they said it would be perfect sweet. Partner got cappuccino with oatmilk. We also got the asiago scone and banana bread. Pandan latte whole milk- 4/5 i think regular sweet for me was on the sweet side and would have been better if it were less sweet. But very subtle and unique flavor, vanilla-y with pandan. Cappuccino w oatmilk- partner said it was good. Asiago scone- 4/5 tastyy, a lil dried but scone r like that, cheesy and warm in the middle Banana bread-5/5 super moist, sweet, cinnamony very delicious! Overall would recommend and hope to come back to try different pastries and drinks.

I had the opportunity to try Hijau during their soft opening and all I can say is I can't wait to go back!! At first glance, the aesthetics felt so earthy yet so pristine, calming & inviting all at the same time. I'm south East Asian, so maybe it just felt familiar. I love the mixture of wood and bamboo. They made some really good choices with the furniture - so cute! The lighting felt right. Love the overall vibe! I'm coming back solely just to work in this space! I've only tried their iced pandan lattes and can't wait to try other things but so far, it had a good amount. A lot of places fall short of the pandan flavor, but not this one! I'm curious what their pastry offerings will look like once they're a little bit more settled. Keep up with the good work and can't wait to see how this place grows in time!

Love this new addition to the rose garden neighborhood. Quiet and tasty drinks. Hope they add more bakery items.

Hijau Coffee has been a spot i've been eyeing for a long time but never had the opportunity to visit while they were a popup, but they've now opened a storefront in the heart of midtown! The new space is very bright and open, with plenty of seating. I especially liked the open countertop seats! I visited right as they opened (First customer!) and got to chat a bit with the owner and the baristas. Everyone was super friendly! The pandan latte, one of their signatures, is one of the best versions I've had to date. It is very balanced and not too sweet, which I find can be hard to get right with how distinct/strong pandan can be. They take advantage of their strong specialty coffee very well! I think Hijau deserves all the hype i've been seeing and I will definitely be returning to try their other drinks!

Have been going to Hijau Coffee since they were a pop-up in SJ and Cupertino. Now they have this store front, amazing! Still the same tasty coffee and latte with the Indonesian-inspired decor to match. Add to that, some Indonesian snacks and desserts. My go-to: the Pandan latte. Savory, not too sweet, with a hint of the pandan smell.

This coffee shop is so precious and lovely. The staff are very kind, and are very attentive with your drink order and any questions or concerns you may have. Very excited to make this my new regular spot.

Pandan soda- Crisp natural pandan flavor. Lovely caffeine free option for a hot day.

Nice place to hang out with friends or families on the weekend. Lots of seating area. Loved their coffee offerings, especially the pandan latte. They also offered kid friendly options- such as pandan soda and pandan milk. Like the light snacks options as well. The service was great. The barista was very polite even it took us a little bit to decide what to order.

I'm already drooling just thinking about it and would 100% order it again in a heartbeat! Char Kway Teow (10/10): Amazing stir fried noodles. The flat rice noodles had a smoky, slightly charred flavor and were tossed with savory Chinese sausage, tender shrimp, egg, bean sprouts, and garlic chives. The dish offered a satisfying blend of sweet, salty, and umami flavors. It was comforting, flavorful, and wonderfully satisfying without feeling too heavy or oily. Singaporean laksa (10/10): This dish was similar to a Vietnamese curry with a fragrant, coconut-rich broth that delivered a balance of savory, spicy, and subtly sweet flavors.
