We took our two dogs there in June 2022 and they apparently had a great time there. They were able to stay in the same kennel during their stay and they gave them walks during the day and also fed them twice a day per my instruction. They just need current Rabies Shot records from your vet and they are good to stay there. You'll just need to set up an appointment for availability. I was glad that they had availability last minute and they were there for about a week. We missed them alot but, my husband was in the hospital for a week or less. The employees also asked if they had a certain type of food that they eat and if they do, I brought their food for them so that they aren't eating something that they aren't used to. They are very accommodating with the food we gave them for our two Dachshunds. I am Recommending this Cowboy Kennels and they are located off the 281S & Basse Rd. read more

I had a great experience with Cowboys Kennels!!!! Let me just say, we were displaced for 31 days following hurricane Laura, which meant we had to have a place for my dog to stay. I was recommended Cowboys kennels and I'm so happy I was ! My dog was well taken care of for her VERY extended time there. I hated leaving her but I was able to receive updates and pictures and they were more than happy to do so. The entire staff was very accommodating and understanding of our situation and I appreciated that, especially at a time like this. I hope I never have to leave my dog again for this type of situation but I certainly know she would be taken care of at Cowboys kennels. read more

Every time I drop off my pets here, they come back clean, and happy to see me. I enjoy how they give me a 'report card' chronicling their water intake, disposition, etc. Fortunately, my Nasdaq always gets straight A's. He's such a good lil' cat. Yes he is! Meow! So I keep an eye on what goes on behind the scenes when I pick up or drop off my pet. I like what I see. I saw a girl taking each cat out of the cage while she cleaned them out, held the cat, and stroked him, and talked to him a bit before setting him down carefully. She seemed to have such a loving nature. The hours could certainly be longer. It sucks that they're not open past 6, so you gotta get in there fast before they close, or they'll keep your lil' bugger an extra night. read more

I booked this place last minute out of desperation. I was a little uneasy because of the obvious lack of attention to detail in terms of the condition of the facility, but needed to rush out of town on business for two nights and just hoped for the best. After picking my dog up I noticed him scratching profusely. Sure enough, he had fleas. He was not in this condition prior to staying at this run-down place. I called the owner to discuss it, and she said she was in the middle of eating and hung up on me. read more

My baby Chip stayed there Feb 18-20th, I paid for the luxury suite, so I could check on him periodically. The camera would not move so I could see the whole room and quality was horrible. With the luxury suite, you can have your dog bathed before leaving, and when I picked him up he smelt and his hair was greasy looking. He had a bath the morning I dropped him off, so they did not bathe him. When I got him home, he was so hungry, all he wanted to do was eat, so not sure they fed him twice a day or enough while he stayed there. I emailed Maddie Sunday when I got home and she has not responded after 3 days. I don't normally give bad reviews, but feel if you are going to leave your pet there, you should know my experience. Cowboy Kennels does a great job taking care of my dog. The staff is friendly and accommodating and they definitely love animals. They let my Great Dane relax in the reception area so he is given plenty of attention. They always give me a run-down of everything he has been up to during his stay. The cat area is large and they allow each cat to roam around and explore safely inside the cat room by themselves away from other cats periodically throughout the day, as well as giving them individual play time. My dog did have an issue where he hit his tail hard enough on the corner of the wall to cut himself, and the staff was quick to take care of it so it did not get infected. They do a great job and pay attention to the animals at all times. I would recommend this kennel to anyone. read more

I went to Cowboys Kennel to check out the cat boarding area before making a decision on where to board my cat and boy am I glad I did. I saw at least 5 dirty litter boxes and the staff did not seem like he knew anything. For example when I asked how many times do yall check on the cats? He answered all day. Okay .. does that mean only when you have time?? Or does it vary depending on the staff that day? I did like that fact that they have a play time for the cats which is when they let one cat out at a time to play. But he never told me how long they could play for either. Then right after I exited the cat boarding area I saw a random cat just hanging around the vet's office. I didn't know if that cat escaped or what but I knew that I didn't want to take a chance boarding my cat there and having her escape. read more

Would definitely recommend Cowboy Kennel! I have a hard dog to watch as he has seizures and anxiety. They were very accommodating with my pup as they went above and beyond for him to stay! The staff was great and my pup seemed like he had a good time. read more

I had my hopes up after speaking with a very friendly and informative woman last week, I made sure they had individual kennels and that they could accommodate walks and play times that were not shared with other animals, my dogs don't play well with others. This just means they cannot mix at the party. She assured me that was not a problem, so we reviewed their records and we needed some shots, I took them to the vet and had updates. Today when I called to schedule, another person helped me, when I sent the records, I reminded that they don't play well and one can jump fences. So that's it, suddenly everything I checked on is not OK, they do not accommodate anything and she thinks my animals should not be able to see another animal ever??? I realize the tone of an email can be misjudged, but it felt extremely rude and as if they simply are not interested in the business. So, only perfect pets allowed here! I have a place in Boerne that me and my dogs love, and they love the dogs too! I just needed some day care while there are repairs made on my house and I work downtown. Beware: Bait and switch kennel. Called ahead to find out what we needed to board our Lab on a cross-country trip. Thought I had everything settled after the conversation....upon arriving, we took a tour of their regular kennels and asked if we could upgrade to the luxury kennel mentioned on their website (comes with a camera and bath for $40.) She said that the camera wouldn't work until morning and seemed reluctant, so since it was only for one night we settled on the regular kennel. We were then quoted a bath for an additional $30 to the $30 boarding price. Decided to skip the bath. Then the gal said they usually require influenza shots but since our dog was staying only one night, it wouldn't be required. We were 15 minutes away and in downtown traffic and she called asking for permission to drive our dog to the owner's veterinary clinic to get the influenza shot! What!?! (Her sheepish tone implied that we wouldn't be charged but I asked and she said it would be $35.) At nearly 5 pm we either had to pay and ok this or find another kennel to board our dog. She said the influenza shot is on their website, however, we have had no problem boarding our dog with 3 other kennels. We went and picked up our dog and thankfully found another kennel with 30 minutes before closing time. Boarder Beware. Something's up with this place. read more

Ive boarded my dog at this place 3 times.. the first 2 times were fine i was so glad i could finally find a place i can trust; but the third time it was over christmas break we boarded him for 5 days in the luxury kennel. When using the luxury kennel you get a bath at the end of the stay and you can see your dog through a camera. I've noticed he wasn't eating his food and when he did he never finished it with is so unusual for him. We went to pick him up and he didn't seem himself wouldn't greet us the same way he usually does; my husband notices that his chest area is wet and smells like poop! he tells the guy so he said well give him another bath. We went to pick him up for the second time and find the manager saying that they "just" discovered he has a hot spot on his neck/chest area with reeked of the smell of puss. Theres no way they didn't notice it the first time they bathed him and that means that no one was gonna mention it if my husband didn't notice it! she apologized and said we can go to our vet or theirs and they'll cover the bills all we need to do is to fax the bills. We went to the vet right away, we couldn't stand the smell in the car the puss smelled like ammonia, it hurts your eye!! after they shaved the whole area we found out that he had a HUGE hot spot covering his whole neck, put in mind that our dog is a 130lbs Rottweiler! We also discovered that he had 3 ulcers in his mouth that he didn't have previously. We tried to call the kennel so they can arrange the payment and of course no one answered; the vet faxed the bill and we paid. We had to go to the vet again after leaving by 2 hours because he omitted twice and didn't eat and he was panting like crazy and restless. They ran a blood work and found that he had sever dehydration and electrolyte loss due to diarrhea (which he had at the kennel because he went right outside the kennel when we picked him up) so he had to get 1.5 liters of electrolytes at the vet through IV. And once again we pay and send the bill to the kennel by fax. I call them the next day and the manager says she's not authorized to refund me my money which i demanded nor she can pay for the bills till the owner gets back from her break. A week later and i get nothing!!! We paid $1000 that we didn't prepare for and till then the owner didn't even reply to my email. After several calls, she gets back to me and basically saying its not their fault he got it and that they won't pay anything to cover this!!!! their vet calls us which is her husband, and says that the 2 vet visits are not really related, whaaaaattttt???? so my dog got dehydrated and lost a lot of electrolytes in 2 hours???????? thats just ridiculous.. he said from the report he got he doesn't see how the kennel is responsible for this the hot spot could appear in an hour!!!! I'm sorry but with that much puss and that size its IMPOSSIBLE. he didn't even speak with the vet that treated my dog. He basically diagnosed a case and gave his professional opinion as a professional veterinarian form a report!!!! he didn't even see the dog!!!!! All they did at the end is refunding $200 for the boarding..oh thanks a lot!! all i can say is that were glad our dog is doing fine and well, i just hope no one goes through what we went through! read more

I would highly recommend Cowboy Kennels to anyone in the local area. I had a sticky situation with some friends who were watching my dog, and Pam, the owner, took care of everything for me, including her shots so that I could have her sent back to me. She was very friendly and helpful, and very understanding of my situation. My dog came to her last minute and badly in need of grooming and is now happy and groomed and caught up on all her shots. The prices are very reasonable and even though I live far away, Pam kept me up to date and informed of everything that was going on, as well as sending me an itemized list of everything on the bill. read more

I just picked up my 6 month old lab about 20 minutes after normal closing because our flight was delayed only to be met by a grumpy complaining owner. I called the minute our flight landed a little before six only to be called 15 minutes later to be checked on by the owner. When we finally saw our puppy, she looked like she hadn't eaten in days and devoured an entire bowl of food as soon as we got home after the owner told us she had just been fed. My little Spencer ( A yorkie) died the day after his stay at this kennel. I left typed instructions about his condition( kidney disease) and specifically told them to call his vet and me if he didn't seem well or wasn't eating . Apparently, not eating or drinking for 3 days is not considered a problem at this kennel. When I picked him up he couldn't stand up , he was panting,his mouth hung open and he had uremic breath and the tip of his tongue was black(rotting). They gave me a report card showing he did not eat for 2 days and the third day they really had no idea what he had done. His kidneys shut down and then every other system. I took him to the emergency vet after picking him up and despite trying everything to save him , he was too far gone . He was perfectly happy and trotting around at home before I left him at this kennel. When I called to check on him ( the day before he quit eating and drinking, they thought he was a cat.They didn't even know he was a dog. I had arranged for him to be taken outside every three hours to pee and it seems they didn't do that either or they might have noticed he couldn't stand up. His coat was wrapped around his front legs so he couldn't have walked ,even to his water bowl. IF he had received help the day after he quit eating he would likely have survived. I am heartbroken and do not want this to happen to any other dearly loved pets. DO NOT TAKE YOU PET TO THIS PLACE -THEY MAY NOT SURVIVE THEIR STAY!!!!!!! read more
