I came for the $12 bar pie. I'm not what you'd call a big sports fan, much less a Pat's fan. I was in the marching band, if that explains anything But with the Pats first playoff win, Cowesett Pizza was offering a special through today - one topping bar pie for $12. They also had a deal on a regular one topping for $10 but I made the trek from the office in Milford MA all the way to West Warwick instead of home today. I was a woman on a mission. I came in and took a seat at the bar. I had been here once before so I knew that the place was small but clean and bright inside. I ordered a beer and my pizza, then sat back and waited. The staff worked like a well oiled machine pumping out food and taking care of every customer with ease After a while, my beautiful baby landed right in front of me. I chose cherry peppers as my one topping, wanting the heat and vinegar taste. I was hungry so I immediately dug in. The crust was crispy but gave way when I bit into it. The sauce and cheese together were salty, savory and sharp. The beer was a good choice to have with this pizza for sure. The lacy crunchy edges were fantastic, the cooked down cheese having a taste I can only describe as similar to extra crispy bacon. Awesome. Before I left I snagged a slice of the Dubai Chocolate Cheesecake by The Side Slice who sells incredible cheesecakes thru preorder on his page or you can find a rotation of slices in the Cowesett cooler. I waited until I got home to enjoy this wonderful dessert: chocolate cake base, filled with pistachio cheesecake, topped with a thick layer of pistachio kaitafi, covered in chocolate fudge frosting, pistachio whipped cream, and chopped pistachios. The bite was divine. I cut off another bite and ate each layer individually, such different but wonderful textures and flavors. I managed to stop halfway through the slice to save the rest for tomorrow but I will be thinking about that cheesecake as much as I'll be thinking about that bar pie. So if you haven't made the detour off Route 2 to have some pizza and cheesecake, you need to fix that asap. And sorry to all those who missed out on this deal, because I had a three course meal for $27 with leftovers for at least two more meals. Thanks so much! read more

I was drawn to Cowesett Pizza because when I'd post reviews of other pizzerias, their account would show up writing positive things about those places. That's pretty rare. Most places are too busy promoting themselves to acknowledge anyone else exists. I thought it made sense to reward that kind of energy and try the pizza, even though I have to drive by six other pizza places I enjoy to get to them. Turns out the pizza's worth the drive. Cowesett is one of those neighborhood gems you only know about if you live around the corner or stumble upon it by pure luck. It's no-frills and familiar inside. A few bar stools, a couple of tables, local sports plaques on the wall. There's a sign over the kitchen that says "Great Food Served Here", and like the staff T-shirts that read "Cooked with Love", they're not lying. Most of the business here is takeout. People call ahead, swing in, grab their food. But if you stick around, there's space to sit, and no one's rushing you out. The staff are very friendly and equally efficient. They know the regulars. They're happy to help everyone though, without making you feel like an outsider. Just nice people doing their jobs really well. I ordered the half tray square pizza on my first visit because I'll always choose a square over a round. Square pizza always tastes better. It's not an opinion. It's some form of food physics or alchemy. Like how sandwiches taste better cut into triangles. Some truths don't need explanation, they just are. I went with pepperoni. What came out looked simple but nailed every detail. The crust was medium thick, super light, crispy, and airy. Baked perfectly. Golden on the bottom with a little crunch and a lot of character. The sauce had a savory flavor and a little bite. The cheese melted clean and was definitely good quality. The pepperoni cupped and crisped at the edges, exactly how you want it. Nothing fancy. Just really, really good pizza. I've been back many times since. They're consistently great. That matters more than a single perfect night. I switched my order a couple months ago from pepperoni to grilled chicken just to see how they'd handle it. Turns out it was a revelation. They prepare the chicken fresh on the spot before putting it on the pizza to cook. That's a pro tip. Many places don't understand how that works and end up drying the chicken into rubbery waste. Knowing that you want it surrounded with enough sauce to keep it moist, my go-to became square half sheet with grilled chicken, extra sauce, and light cheese. Cheese is just a condiment to me on pizza. It's among the best pizzas I've had anywhere. Perfectly brown, perfectly tasty, super high quality ingredients from top to bottom. Maybe I'm crazy but I always feel like when I eat grilled chicken pizza instead of pepperoni, I'm somehow eating health food. More protein, right? That's exactly how it works in your brain even when you know it's probably bullshit. Like I'm thinking "but it's CHICKEN, so this is basically a gym membership" while I destroy an entire half sheet by myself. The owners, Chris and Britt, are among the nicest people I've met in the pizza business, or anywhere, really. Quality and community focused. They use the best ingredients and do their best to keep prices reasonable for the neighborhood while also doing right by their employees. Great pay. Long-term disability coverage. Retirement matching. How many pizza places do that? I can't think of another one in Rhode Island. And they don't rest on what works. They developed an awesome bar pie. Now they're working on a Detroit hybrid. They keep pushing. They keep trying to do better. They're also generous with their time and money in the community. Fantastic food, model business, outstanding neighbors. Cowesett Pizza's square pie is good enough to be a destination pizza, not just the best option in the neighborhood. Really good thin crust pizza with excellent rich tasting cheese and packed full of ingredients, all the way to edge. I enjoyed the oily tasty pepperoni & tons of black olives. Next time I'll ask for a side of marinara to dip in. I do love a red sauce but with this thin a crust I get the need for very minimal sauce. My first time trying Cowesett Pizza and it did not disappoint! I found the local pizza shop from the RI Pizza Fans page on FB and heard mixed reviews so had to try it myself! I got a Large Bar Pepperoni pizza and it was thin, crispy, and chewy. It had just the perfect amount of crisp and dough. The pepperoni was cooked perfect and had a nice perfect saltiness to it. The dough is made fresh in house. The garlic parm wings were also delicious and a good size. Great quality chicken! It was more of a dry rub on the order so next time I would order extra garlic parm on it. The staff were great! I called the order in and they picked up right away and very kind and polite. We were greeted right away when walking through the door and even the staff in the kitchen were great and let us know an update on the order while we waited. The restaurant itself is small but gets the job done. There is some indoor seating and a counter top/high top stools but I took my order to go. I ordered a pizza, it was wet and couldn't keep its shape, it was way too thin. There was no sauce. Like it wasn't even there when I lifted up the cheese. The cheese tasted stale and over cooked. The crust at the end was burnt and cut up my mouth. I will never come here. It's disgusting. read more

I had never been here before but looked at the reviews and they were all very good so I decided to order delivery. I'm glad I did! Delicious tradition pizza with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The crust wasn't too thick and wasn't too thin (I feel like Goldilocks), but was just right, and had a nice golden brown crust. I got mushrooms, which were plentiful and nice (not the rubbery canned ones). I would go here again to get another pizza and maybe a calzone. My husband and I tried Cowesett Pizza last week . We ordered by phone we were told it would be ready in 25 minutes. It took over an hour for our pizza and what they called the turkey wrap to be ready.. the pizza was overcooked no taste. My turkey wrap was so small perhaps only one slice of turkey in it.. I did put a note on Facebook . 1) the owner wrote me a long note on Facebook say I was an ignorant customer. He called me names. He also told me that I was banned from him his establishment not that I would ever go back there anyway apparently does not know about the first amendment.. very rude. We were also told that there was a virus going around. everyone was ill well we were not told about this is not on the news. My grandchildren are in daycare. No notices sent out and my daughter and I are practicing registered nurses there was nothing out there. Just an excuse. I certainly would not recommend them to anyone not even my dog. read more

Yesterday was my first time here. Ordering online it was a breeze. Super cute little pizza shop. It was very clean inside and the two women working were very friendly. I tried the bar pizza and a small regular one. They were both awesome. The large bar pizza was huge. Nice thin crust with tons of pepperoni. I got pepperoni and olives on the small. Came for the bar pie and it did not disappoint. It was perfect. I love my pizza well done and thats just as it comes when you order it this way. Also ordered the chicken tenders platter-fries ans chicken were good but 3 of the "tenders" were more like chicken nugget size so that was a disappointment. $36 for the pizza, onion rings and tenders platter which I thought was a great deal. More of a take out place in my opinion even though there are some tables and bar stools. Order was promised in 30 minutes and came out right on the dot which is always appreciated. I have 5 words for you.. Bar Pie from Cowesett Pizza. I've heard a lot of buzz about cowesett being a stand and finally just got around to try it. We went specifically for their bar pie which created a a lot of buzz in a specific FB group that discusses pizzas locally so had high expectations going in. As soon as we walked in the staff was very friendly to greet us and let us know our order would be up in a couple minutes. Inside was small with a little bit of seating, gave off classic pizza joint vibes which was cool and usually means you are in for a good one! At a glance the pie was looking delicious and indeed it was. This pizza was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, zero flop, and the well done edges were great! Their large is huge but it was so good we almost took it down in one sitting lol. They loaded it up with ronni and it held up on the first no problem. Only complaint I have about it was maybe a little more sauce but no big deal, overall delicious pizza and can't wait to go get another one! read more

My wife and I haven't found a decent pizza place in West Warwick since moving from Cranston 4 years ago. Twisted Pizza is garbage and their customer service is atrocious. PVD is ok. Tried a few others places that obviously didn't leave a lasting impression...until now. Cowesett Pizza is now our go to place when we don't want to spend almost $100 on Frank Pepe's. We got the cheese bar pizza, which is so damn good and addictive. Great wings and dressing with big chunks of bleu cheese. The Italian grinder was solid but not the stand out. The star was the pizza. After a hectic Friday, I asked the wife what she wanted for takeout, and she said a chicken parmigiana grinder. She had this place in mind, because we'd gotten them from here about three years ago and they were good, but she couldn't remember the name of the restaurant, only that it was next to a Del's lemonade. With that clue, it was easy to look up the name and number of this gem of a local pizza place. The man who took my order over the phone was extremely polite, and said the two chicken parm grinders would be ready in 10 minutes. Cowesett Pizza has a small, unlit parking lot, with some cars parked behind other cars, but the restaurant, though very small, is brightly lit and welcoming. There are only a few tables and a few stools at a small counter, so it seems more suited to takeout. It appeared clean, and the owners were friendly. The chicken parm grinders (a large for me, a small for wifey) were just as delicious as I remembered from a few years before, and reasonably priced too. I've never had their pizza, but several other reviews vouch that it's good as well, and I have good reason to believe them, if my sandwiches are any indication. read more

Fantastic establishment! This is the place that you see in movies from the 80s about the 60s, a local place. I've been here at least 10x and every time I'm there the owner sits down and talks to his customers. They remember what you ordered and things you share with them. Usually this place is very good for service. Tonight they sent me home with a disgusting pizza and I didn't know until I got home. They clearly forgot the sausage the first go around so decided to throw some on there and put it back in the oven only to burn the rest of the pizza and still have raw sausage. We chose Cowesett Pizza to be apart of our Gender Reveal Celebration! We order 5 pizzas (cheese, pepperoni, meatball, mushroom, and our pepperoni gender reveal pizza) Brittney handled our order and went above and beyond! We simply requested her to write a "B" or "G" in pepperonis on a large pizza depending on what our secret envelope said. Brittney was excited to take on the task and offered to call me when it was ready, which put me at ease as I was worried something would get messed up. When I came up to pick up our order I was pleasantly surprised that she had upgraded our order to a larger square pizza at no charge and spelled out the gender instead!
