I was in the East Greenwich area and wanted to try pizza from a shop I had heard a lot about nearby, Fratellis. So I drove 10 minutes down the road to the Center of New England... boulevard. Fratellis is situated in one of the shopping strips along the boulevard. Lots of open parking, always a plus in my book. Inside, the big windows of the front offer a lot of natural light as you walk inside. The set is simple, straightforward and clean. A few tables, counter seating at the windows and the register, where a nice woman was waiting to take our order. We went simple today, a Detroit half cheese and half pepperoni. I had heard great things about the Detroit and I wanted to taste for myself. After about 20 minutes, the pizza arrived and it was time to eat. The first thing I noticed is this is a VERY cheesy pizza, some might say overly so. I would be one of those people. But if you love lots of cheese, you will love this. Although it was a lot of cheese, it was delicious. The pockets of sauce were great, I love a chunky, savory sauce. The crust was buttery, crispy but pillowy thick. The caramelized cheese edges nice and crunchy, always my favorite part of the Detroit. We are blessed to have many great options for Detroit now here in Rhode Island. Fratelli's is absolutely among the top in the state. If you like Detroit, you need to add this place to your list to check out ASAP. read more

The Centre of New England is a shopping plaza in Coventry. It is not the center of New England. The actual geographic center of New England is Dunbarton, New Hampshire, two and a half hours north, and nobody from Rhode Island is driving there for pizza. Coventry is, however, the geographic center of Rhode Island, which means whoever named this plaza was close, swung big, and overshot by about one state. None of that matters. Inside, Fratelli's is clean, sunny, and bright. Patterned tile floor, white subway tile on the walls, a wood counter running along the window where you can watch cars pull in and out while you eat. A Pepsi cooler. A TV with a cheese ad on a loop.The room is not trying to wow you, even though it's very nice. They just want to feed you. In addition to their hand tossed pizza, they make Detroit style here, and they make it correctly. The pan comes out lined with parchment, the frico edge running dark and almost black in the corners, caramelized down to something that crunches and adds a welcome bitter contrast to the flavors. The sauce goes on top after the cheese, the way it's supposed to be. Flip a slice and look at the bottom: deep amber gold, wall to wall, the kind of color that takes a well-oiled pan and real heat and no shortcuts. The inside of the crust pulls apart in layers. I ordered half pepperoni, half grilled chicken. The pepperoni did what pepperoni does you know the drill. The chicken is what you need to know about. Big chunks, marinated, substantial in a way that most pizza chicken has no clue about. Not the pale, dried-out afterthought that shows up on a lot of pies when someone tries to do something other than sausage or pepperoni. This was the kind of chicken that makes you stop mid-slice and reconsider whether you should have ordered a whole chicken pie. I didn't expect to reach a verdict this fast. This is as good as any Detroit pizza I've found anywhere in the state. It's a strip mall but don't judge the book by its cover, order the Detroit, get the chicken. The location will not give you much of a story to tell. The pizza will. read more

Cute small place, very clean and nice inside with some tables. Vast menu, I got an Italian grinder, sandwiches are huge and well stuffed with ingredients. I was really looking forward to trying Fratelli's in West Greenwich, but it ended with me being disappointed. The garlic knots were not enjoyable--very little garlic, and what was on top was definitely burnt, which gave them more of a smoky, bitter taste than anything appetizing. The pizza itself was very generic, nothing that stood out, and honestly there are many other local spots by me, and around Rhode Island that I'd prefer. I placed a takeout order over the phone and was told 20 minutes, but I didn't leave with my food until almost 37 minutes later. Not a huge deal once in a while, but it added to the overall letdown. Not the type of location to stay and eat, the location was very sterile with no ambiance. The pictures online made me think it might be worth a try, but in the end the food was just mediocre at best. I had to try the hot shot grinder. Breaded chicken cutlet cooked perfectly, melted fresh mozzarella, hot pepper relish, onions, lettuce, and a great balsamic glaze. The menu said there were hot peppers, but I didn't have any besides for the hot pepper relish, which tied the sandwich together nicely. Let me start by saying my 4 stars is a 3.5 to 3.75. I'm always on the lookout for pizza shops that push the envelope away from the dime a dozen Greek pizza shops in RI and I think I may have found one in Fratelli's Pizzeria. My wife and I ordered delivery the other night and were pleasantly surprised! Where a new pizza business could easily phone in their food, Fratelli's seems like they're pushing to be different. As far as what they do right, the delivery was quicker than quoted, the driver was friendly, and the food was great! I'm a big pizza hobbyist and the Detroit style pizza was on par with all I've had so far in my life. All the flavors were great, texture was great, and sauce reminded me of casertas. However, as you can see in the picture, they were a bit skimpy on the sauce. Also, although not a deal-breaker, with the size of the Detroit pizza it could/should have been cut into 8 slices. Neither of those things will keep me from ordering again, but I'd hesitate to order it for a group or something of that sort. My wife ordered an Italian grinder. She has no complaints, but that's not necessarily a good thing. To her the sandwich was "fine". Nothing great, nothing bad. If we decided to go out for Italian subs, we could think of so many other places to get one. Again, not bad. We've just had so many other Italian sandwiches that this wouldn't make the short list for a cheap dinner. What's basically missing is just something to set it apart. Maybe another meat? Maybe sharp provolone that you don't see as often as you'd like, pepper relish, or a specialty bread. I think the final word on the sandwich is "unremarkable ". Fratelli's did enough to make me want to go back and try other items, but they didn't do enough to set themselves apart. In a world of cookie cutter pizza shops, I have high hopes for Fratelli's and they seem like they have the ability and the vision to meet expectations read more

This has got to be the best pizza so far in the Coventry/West Warwick area. This is the quality you'd expect on Federal Hill, and it beats everything else here, including Pagliarini's, which is good, but been slipping lately. The pizzas are generously topped, baked perfectly, and use an old-fashioned type dough. In this age of skimpflation, it's great to see a place like this, and hoping they keep it up for a long time. This pizza is puzzling to me. Ever have a pizza that's actually better the next day? I like exploring/trying new places for pizza. None of my family were especially impressed with this pizza when we ate it fresh, but, we all agreed, it made for excellent next-day/leftover pizza. Whether cold, out of the fridge, or reheated in the microwave, it was some of the best leftover pizza we've had of all the places we've been in the area (and there are MANY). Put down the phone!!! I can't stress enough how stressful the simple order process was for a pizza. The woman on the phone was, to be kind, infuriating. She got almost everything I said wrong, I had to repeat literally every word. She got the toppings wrong, she got the card number wrong, she got the address wrong, her read back was so misconstrued, that I had to ask if there was someone else I could talk to, but no! She kept blaming me for not being able to hear me, but the noise was on her end. When my Sicilian pizza arrived, about a half an inch thick, ok, not all together bad size, but the toppings were all wrong. From phone call to delivery took about 50+ minutes, from what is about a 10 minute drive, when I called looking for my pizza, the woman said about 5 minutes, then "well, maybe 10 minutes". almost an hour is far to late to go through the order and delivery process somewhere else, so I was stuck, and then to have it arrive wrong and thinner then it should have been, was beyond frustrating. If you can't order in person, and able to check the food before you leave, Don't go there, especially if it's meal time, because you wont want to wait for them to unscrew it up, and be prepared for one of the worst communication issues in restaurant history, but if you do, please have her read back everything, and be prepared to correct it all. After explaining that my wife was not able to eat the pizza, as the toppings didn't agree with her, I was assured a full refund, We wont be going back, I tastefully suggest caution if you go there. Sorry, waited an 1 1/2 hours for an order for which I was told 30 minutes. I wasn't the only one that was complaining every customer in there had the same experience. I wish I could say the pizza was good to compensate the wait but it wasn't. Not sure understaff, not enough oven space but this is my third attempt. read more
