Very disappointing, I tried to dine here on Monday night. It was a party of 5. I have a service dog and a gentleman said they won't allow service dogs. Had dinner here for a bachelorette party and it was everything we hoped it would be! We were seated on the upper outside porch area overlooking the water and despite it being a bit chilly, it was beautiful! Our waitress was friendly and accommodating, which we enjoyed since it was a very busy Saturday night and were worried our group would get mediocre service. To be honest, the food exceeded my expectations. I half expected it to be a too-fancy-for-its-own-good kind of place that boasted high prices with middle-of-the-road food. Our appetizers were delicious, especially the skillet cornbread. I probably could have eaten the whole thing by myself were it not the for the fact that I was at a bachelorette party and needed to be ladylike for that evening. Half of us ordered the filet mignon with the loaded baked potato and the portion was HUGE. In a good way of course. The quality of the filet was great. It was a gigantic helping and was so rich and filling. The loaded baked potato was on point too. I don't think I will ever complain about a fluffy, salty, buttery spud covered in cheese, sour cream, and bacon. Cowfish is in a beautiful location on a marina in Hampton Bays, it is a great place for a drink. But that is about it. The dinner menu was extremely disappointing. For a restaurant on the bay, near the ocean, surrounded by farmland, you would think the menu would reflect its surroundings. Not at all. There wasn't any raw bar offered, there was some "sushi" but it contained mostly fruit, one roll had steak included?? Other menu options had way too much going on, i.e. sauces, cheese, cream. I've been here a handful of times and absolutely love it. Both on and off season, it is great!! I had the blackened fish sandwich and enjoyed it... Came with coleslaw too that was nicely dressed! My husband surprised me and we came here for my birthday. What an amazing dinner!! The lobster Mac n cheese was to die for!! My husband loved the clam chowder. I had the amazing baby back ribs and he had the steak with huge baked potato. Amazing dinner. The white chocolate cheesecake was delicious as well as the berry dessert with marscapone cheese. It was consistently a full restaurant and service never lacked for 1 minute. Staff was constantly attentive. We will be back and can't wait to try RUMBA!!! read more

Went out to the east end for a girls weekend getaway. We had a reservation for dinner at Cowfish and had a great meal. Everyone got something different and we tasted and loved all the dishes (scallops on risotto was especially tasty). We saw the brunch menu looked good and actually came back for brunch the next day. Cowfish was lovely for dinner but shone during the day. We were seated on the balcony overlooking the water and the view was lovely. Everyone had some drinks and a different dish. It was all really good but you guys. The Chicken and Waffles was hands down the best chicken and waffles any of us had ever had. To make a great brunch even better, our server Cara was lovely and really added to our experience. Would highly recommend giving Cowfish a try! read more

This place is awesome for lunch! It's hidden behind another building so look carefully for the signs and arrows. It's right on the water and the atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. I LOVE this place! One of the best places to be at during the summer on LI. Right on the water, valet parking, outdoor/ indoor seating, outdoor/ indoor lounge and bars. Staff is always friendly. Never been to the bar inside, but the outside bartenders are always nice and know how to make a good drink. Their margaritas are great, they have some signature cocktails that are good as well. I think it's called "the home wrecker", it's a martini and it's amazing. Not a great fan of the mojitos unfortunately. They have a "tiki" boat that takes you back and forth to cowfish and Rumba which is fun. I recommend going for drinks and apps. I'm not a fan of seafood but I love the water and being outside dining on LI so it's hard to find a place that the cuisine isn't primarily seafood. Their hummus and buffalo shrimp are amazing and addicting ! The spinach dip and guacamole is very good as well. read more

We were here last week . Although the view is beautiful, especially in the upcoming season, we left feeling unsatisfied. Not only did we have to wait 20 min to be seated past our reservation time, once the appetizers were ordered it took 30 minutes for them to arrive. When they finally did arrive, they were room temperature at best (meant to be served hot, or course). Time passed and eventually our meals arrived, and again, the food was not served hot. The dish was very heavily salted and quite honestly was not worth the price tag. The food servers tried taking our unfinished plates off the table multiple times, after we asked multiple times for them to stop, as the rest of the guests at the table were still eating, and so was I. Finally came time for dessert and a warm baked cookie was served...raw!! The food runner took the cookie back and then returned telling us that the cookie was meant to be hot and soft, but it was raw and cold. We were also told that it was cold from the ice cream on top which was not even melted. It was raw cookie dough in a cute cast iron skillet. "The customer is always right" motto seemed to fall by the waterside along with everything else about dining out with this pandemic. They took it back and took it off the bill which was good, but I don't know if I'd be running back to this place. Certainly not worth the hype or the price. Even on a crowded holiday weekend Saturday night, the Cowfish provided an excellent meal and experience. A little advance planning goes a long way towards overcoming the only obvious negative of this waterfront spot: the wait. They take reservations only for large parties, and seat other parties in order of arrival. Knowing this ahead of time, our group of four took advantage of their valet parking, put our names in for a table (wait time cited at ~1.5 hours), and hopped on the Rum Barge to take us to their sister establishment (Rumba) for a cocktail. This little interlude filled the time perfectly and we were at the top of the table list when we got back. Cowfish markets itself as featuring "New American Fare". I am never sure what this phrase might mean but, like "pornography", you tend to recognize it when you see it. The diverse menu focuses on interesting preparations of grilled proteins and seasonal vegetables. The Sushi section seems a bit of a non-sequitur, but our Cowboy roll was very good. We started by sharing the Cowboy roll and lobster stuffed mushrooms, and followed with entrees of the seared scallops, NOLA shrimp Rumba, cumin crusted mahi, and a simple grilled preparation of one of the daily fish specials. The entrees were good, but the appetizers honestly provided the two stars of the night. The mushrooms were evocative of a lobster rolls and they were not shy with the shellfish. Among the entrees, the scallops stood out, and their accompanying corn/basil jasmine rice was light and delicious. The only potential "miss" was the slightly overspiced and oversauced NOLA shrimp, but even that was pretty good. We were too full to try the desserts, but I see a return trip in my future. read more

So this place I heard from other locals (cuz I'm new here) is great for its drinks and atmosphere but not for the food. Lol so I tried it anyway. Went there at night for dinner on a Saturday night at 9pm and forget it! The wait was 2 hours. Ha! So I turned around and went to out of the blue for food which I heard and it's true that the locals go there for food then go to cowfish for drinks. Ok so I came back during the day on Sunday the next day. I sat outside and yes it was def nice. Great atmosphere and totally different from the previous night when it was completely packed! The bloodymary was very very good! Their mix whatever it is, is awesome! You NEED to try it! All I had for food was the salads since I wasn't that hungry. We came with a large group of 13 for brunch, made reservations (which they didn't have when we arrived), but luckily we showed up just before they opened at 11:30a on Sunday, so we were seated right away. The view right on the water of the boats is awesome. Everyone was very happy with their food, the bananas foster french toast was very good, and the drinks were great too. The rum punch was very flavorful, albeit a bit weak. The only knock on this place is that it's a bit pricey...but hey, it's the hamptons. After receiving one drink from the bartender we were ignored for one hour and fifteen minutes. After politely requesting service, we were acknowledged and then ignored. We did have to wait a little over an hour to be seated, but the food was actually really tasty. I got the buffalo shrimp and the brussels sprout salad. And I loved both of them. Little heavy on the cheese on the salad, but that is rarely a bad thing. We also got dessert which was pretty tasty! The service was very efficient. The setting is gorgeous. Beautiful views from outdoor tables and their large outdoor bar. The restaurant gets very busy. If you don't want a 530pm dinner, expect to wait at least an hour for a table. They do provide plenty of options while you wait. Drinks and apps in many outdoor locations and snow upstairs indoor bar. Even a playground of sorts for the kids with grown up chairs right next to the water. The food is excellent. Skillet cornbread or lobster stuffed mushrooms are great starters. The scallop dish is a top chef challenge type winner. I don't recommend the sushi here. Very overpriced and not exceptional. Desert however is a winner. Cast iron cooked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream is awesome. Prices are on par for the Hamptons....high. But a great value for a excellent meal out. read more

Last night I went to Cow Fish for my birthday. We were greeted by the Manager Catalina who showed us around the grounds. Catalina introduced us to the outside bartender and even treated us to the first drink. Our table was comfortably situated and attentively addressed by Catalina. The location is ideal on the Shinnecock Canal. Although my boys aren't little, this place is both kid and adult friendly. Much of it is outdoors so on a rainy day it wouldn't be accommodating. We ate swordfish, salmon and Mahi Mahi. They were all very good. The sides of corn and beans and wild rice salad were something I will try to recreate at home. We liked the food selection better at sister restaurant Rumba, but Cowfish is definitely worth going to. read more

Went during restaurant week for my birthday (April) and the menu was amazing and the food was so fresh. My boyfriend and I loved the red pepper bisque. Brought family with us again that same week, everyone loved the atmosphere and food. Went again for our anniversary in January and something was lacking in the menu and food. I definitely think this restaurant thrives in certain seasons. Wouldn't go again in the winter time for sure. The service was also better the first time but overall very kind, helpful staff. The staff was setting up for what seemed like a party for the next day (moving tables around, etc.) so that kinda ruined the atmosphere a little bit. Like I said the first time was amazing so thats why I said 4 stars, would be 5 if not for the third experience. read more
