Came here for some afternoon drinks on Sunday. The drinks themselves were fine, but the two stars is due to the service. Yes, there were a good amount of people at the outdoor bar area, but the bartenders were completely not attentive. No welcome or greeting when I sat down. Completely ignored for a long time after asking for a menu. It took several times of calling, making eye contacting, and signaling that I needed service for someone to finally come over to me. Love the location, right on the water - great views. And I can't say anything about the food, since I only had drinks. But the service in the outdoor bar could be extremely upgraded. The food looked and smelled delicious, so I may come back to try some next time I'm in the area. read more

Wedding My wife and I attended a wedding here today. I just wanted to share what a great spot this is for a wedding or large party. The setting is beautiful, the space is charming and the staff is very professional. We started with Bloody Mary's and they were top notch! The bar staff was fast and deliberate with a smile. The passed hors d'oeuvres just kept coming and were delicious. First course was clam chowder. The chowder was in my top 5 best I've had. My wife had the salad which she enjoyed. Next was the main course. My wife and I had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steaks were huge and cooked Medium with lots of charcoal flavor- really good! For desert we had ice cream with home made whip cream and chocolate hot fudge etc.... I asked for one more. The day was perfect I didn't hear one complaint from any of my family that attended. Came here for today for lunch. Prior to coming I looked at the menu online and checked out some pictures and reviews from Yelp. I decided I was going to get the Maui wowi sushi roll and my husband was looking forward to the lobster Mac and cheese. We arrived around 2 pm. And we seated shortly after on the upper deck. I searched the menu for the sushi and Mac and cheese but was very disappointed to not see it. We ended up ordering the lobster stuffed mushrooms and a bowl of the clam chowder as appetizers. We could not find nor taste any lobster, but there was definitely tarragon which seems to be the theme this summer. Not much clams in the clam chowder. For our main courses I had the blackened mahi sandwich. Just ok. Was not a fan of the tarragon flavored tartare sauce. My husband had the French dip with cole slaw which was dry. My daughter had a Caesar salad and my son had chicken fingers. Both were nothing to brag about. Do not think I will be returning anytime soon. read more

The location is beautiful, the food is average and waitstaff are mostly rude. I recently brought my inlaws who were visiting from NH here for lunch. My wife and I have been here a few times before and like the location. We wanted to take them somewhere nice that had a patio and figured Cowfish was perfect. As we walk in the server asks what our plans are and we say we would like to sit outside for some drinks and appetizers. She says go ahead and go upstairs and grab a seat in the bar area. When we get to the bar I see that servers are seating people on the decks and try to get their attention. It took all of us looking like lost puppies for one of them to acknowledge our presence and are told that we need to go BACK downstairs and ask the hostess to be added to the list. I alone head downstairs and she explains that we can ONLY have a table if we are having lunch. I told her those were our original intentions and she begins to get flustered and says we will have to wait about 20 min. I take in account that it is summer and a weekday after the 4th but notice that it really isn't busy. Back to the bar for a much needed drink. We all order drinks from a very friendly and attentive bartender. We finally get our table and order lunch. We order three burgers and a chicken club. As we wait for our food, we are being forced to listen to pop "hits" from the 90's and 00's at a less than desirable volume. We overhear some women complaining about how their day drinking plans on their day off were ruined because the restaurant was busy and were asked to help out. They have attitude with the wait staff and leave. Ok, our food arrives now. The burgers are done to our specification and taste great. However, the chicken club is FULL of cheese and has very little chicken. By this time my wife and I are a little upset with the whole experience. We pay the 150+ tip and leave. We both decided that we will be taking our business somewhere else the next time we have company. read more

Today my colleagues and I hosted a luncheon at cowfish for our clients and we were beyond pleased. Too often when hosting a private event at a restaurant are you left making guesses or filling in gaps. The event ran so smoothly thanks to the attentiveness of the management and staff on hand. We were permitted to arrive early to place additional gifts on the counters. They designed printed menus for our guests to make selections from the pre-fixe menu. They even made a last minute accommodation and moved us into a different dining room when a few of us decided we were a bit too warm on the patio in the shade..and made the switch over in minutes. The food was great too! Burgers, salmon and rotisserie chicken..YUM! Definitely consider them for your private event. EXCELLENT!! read more

I was so excited to finally come here as I am a huge fan of their sister restaurant, Rumba. My advice? Go to Rumba instead... The positive: It is BEAUTIFUL! Gorgeous location and building, great outdoor seating with multiple bars and floors. Appetizers of guacamole and a dip were delicious, perfect to munch on while sipping some beverages. The rest: It started with the drinks. I ordered a drink off of their drink menu, after waiting a while, the bartender said they were out of a key ingredient (used in many of their signature drinks). Not a problem, but you'd think during the summer season they would keep everything stocked (and this was early on a weeknight, not like they ran out of it as the night went on). He suggested to make it with substitute, it wasn't really good, told him that, and he charged me full price for it anyway. Again, not a big deal, but any other bar would have given an experimental drink on the house, especially when it didn't turn out too well. The guacamole and dip were good, and everyone was raving about the cornbread, so we ordered 2 for our large group. I wasn't impressed! Very, very overly sweet and drowned in butter so much that it was soggy. Maybe some like it like that, but I don't want grease in every bite. For dinner, I ordered the Shrimp & Crab Remoulade Salad. For the price (somewhere around $20, give or take) the portion was small, which could have been overlooked if it was amazing. It wasn't at all. Huge lack of seasoning and texture, just tasted like bland mush. Came with a few thin slices of crustini which offered texture, but there weren't enough to enjoy with the dish. I felt duped into spending so much money on "fancy" blandness. Looks pretty, that's about it. Needless to say, Rumba is about 30 seconds away. Went to Cowfish tonight with my family for my father's birthday. Service was great and food was even better!!! We all ordered an appetizer....the corn bread (which was the best cornbread I've ever had), tuna poke (which again was amazing with so many different flavors), and the oysters (which I didn't have but my husband did and he's not very enthusiastic about anything so he said they were good). For our entrees we were all very happy again....two people order the salmon special and it was amazing, a filet minion was also very very good, and the ribs that just melted off the bone. On top of the great food and service the view is gorgeous. Being a long islander and loving the water it was the perfect spot for me!!! The indoor decor was fun and rustic with beautiful artwork. Another great thing is the property, which has Adirondack chairs to sit in on the lawn if there is a wait.....and a cute little playground ship for the kiddies, which my daughter loved!!!! All around great dinner and extremely happy with our pick!!! We will definitely be visiting Cowfish again and again!!!! =) read more

Ordered food for pickup went had to wait a few minutes so food should have been hot ! then 10 minute drive back food was ice cold and packaged like crap . Scallops a $36 entree thrown in a big take out box with a container in the same box of the side juice from scallops all over the box under container the worst presentation I'd ever seen , stuffed mushrooms cold the best thing was the coleslaw so 73 bucks later that's what I got had to heat In Microwave . Will never ever order anything from them again over priced no food excuses for what I got and four scallops medium size horrible . Should call the place blow fish cause it blows !!! I took a friend here on a Thursday night and we ate at the outside bar. Stunning ambiance, very friendly people around you and bartenders knew the menu inside out out. Mostly feasted On the sushi which was inventive and incredibly fresh. Also had to polish off the sea fare with some good old fashioned turf and went with the Cowfish burger. Amazing on all levels. Took 14 girls here for my bachelorette party dinner, Eric and Lauren helped me set up a set menu for everyone, however when we got there it seemed that no one had any idea about it and neither of them were there. Well it didn't really matter because after a quick conversation with the manager working he got it all taken care of for us and everything went very well! The food was amazing !!!! We had the corn skillet, spinach dip and hummus appetizer, all were awesome! The filet was outstanding, cooked perfect and served with a huge loaded baked potato. I am a huge scallop fan but am often very disappointed at restaurants, this was one of the best scallop dishes I have had, served with a creamy rice and prosciutto bits, it was fabulous! Some of the other girls had the chicken and I watched as they scrapped the bone clean! No ones plate had anything left on it when we were done. They sent me out the chocolate chip cookie skillet, which was delicious!! It was rustic feeling inside but still had that long island beach feel to it. The large bar outside with waterfront seating was awesome for some cocktails after dinner. We took the boat over that was offered free from the restaurant to there sister location, Rumba. Which was nice if you were going for a casual dinner, but we were all dressed up and the bar space was very small and the rest of the restaurant was pretty packed, so we had a drink and hopped back on the boat. Came here for lunch with my friend on a weekday in the summer. Unsurprisingly, the place was pretty empty as the weekenders weren't in town. We got some champagne although I can't remember specifically what kind and shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer. It was seriously amazing. Especially dipped in the sauce decorating the plate. I could eat those all day everyday they were amazing. I ordered the shrimp and crab remoulade salad. Basically a stack of guacamole, shrimp, lump crab with tomato, and corn on top. It was accompanied by perfectly toasted crostinis and a Parmesan kale salad. Very delicious and not too heavy. The perfect summer salad. The location, decor and atmosphere is lovely. Drove past this waterfront restaurant while in Southampton so decided to check it out for lunch. The views are the best thing about the restaurant. Our server did her job but I didn't feel like she was too friendly (there was a sign saying they wanted to hire more friendly people). We came with a big group around noon on a Friday and there was barely anyone in the restaurant! By the time we left, there was more of a crowd but still no wait. Despite having a big group, food came out quickly. The appetizers came out after just a few minutes. We were hoping to have more seafood options than were on the menu but still tried a lot of things. I was generally a bigger fan of the apps rather than my entree. From what I remember: Appetizers: **Deviled eggs with brown sugared bacons (3) - the best menu item I tried **Oysters Hampton (3) - fried oysters with Reggiano creamed spinach spread underneath and garlic aioli/sriracha on top **Skillet corn bread - because all of the other appetizers only came in 3s, we expected the corn bread to also be small but it comes in a decent sized skillet. You can definitely see and taste bits of corn and jalapeño. Love love love LOVE this restaurant. Been here a handful of times and I'd rate it 5 stars every single time. First off, the location is beautiful. It's right off of the Shinnecock Bay, so you're surrounded by water and boats-- perfect summer spot to grab a bite as the sun sets or come with friends for happy hour. During the warmer months, there is an outdoor bar & patio with lots of seating, so it's also a great idea to go earlier than your reservation and grab a drink or two so that you can enjoy your surroundings. There's outdoor seating for dinner located on the top deck when it gets a bit warmer as well. Another really cool thing about CowFish, is that there is a "Rumboat" decorated like a tiki hut that will take you across the bay to visit another really cool restaurant, Rumba's. This past time that I came here with my boyfriend, we got here an hour before our reservation hoping to enjoy the nice night. It was still a bit too chilly for outdoor seating so we grabbed drinks and the hummus app at the upstairs bar until it was time for us to be seated. They were offering a prix fixe 3 course menu for $29 (if I remember correctly) which was a great deal. This was my first time seeing their prix fixe menu and it did not disappoint. The portions are large-- we were so stuffed after our entrees, we decided to wrap our dessert to go. Our dinner choices were: the strawberry and goat cheese salad and lobster Mac for an app, the ribs and the seared tuna for our entrees, and the berries with mascarpone and cookies and cream cheesecake for dessert (both amazing). Everything was perfect. My favorite was the lobster Mac with crab meat on top-- it might have even been the best I've ever had. The French press coffee deserves it's own paragraph because, oh my god, I couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was for the rest of the week. If you are a coffee lover, GET THE COFFEE. I was in heaven. There were two older women sitting next to us who caught a whiff of it and asked what we were drinking because it smelt so delicious. They were surprised when we told them what it was because they both weren't coffee drinkers. Seriously, get the coffee. Service was quick and attentive. We had two lovely ladies serve us (one was in training) that did a great job. The hosts, bartenders, and servers are very professional here. Don't forget to check in for 5% off your bill! All in all, Cowfish is an EXPERIENCE to say the least. You can create a lot of memories here if you take advantage of everything it has to offer. I had the pleasure of dining at Cowfish for the first time (today) for my Aunt's birthday party. The setting is lovely, the service was excellent, and the food was superb. Hors d'oeuvres consisted of deviled eggs (I didn't have any but they looked delicious and were being devoured by the crowd), and a hot spinach dip with homemade tortilla chips which was out of this world yummy. The appetizer was a Brussels sprout salad. I've never had anything like it before. I want the recipe. Enough said. There were three entree choices for the party: a salmon dish, chicken, and I believe beef was the third. As I am a vegetarian, I can't comment on flavor, but each dish looked fantastic, everyone was raving about the food (including my picky husband, who had the salmon), and I noticed several people with take-home boxes with their leftovers. I did try some of the yams that came with the salmon (traded with my husband for some of my asparagus), and they were fantastic; caramelized and tender - perfectly cooked, and sweet without being dessert-like. I'd like that recipe, too. ; ) The staff was very accommodating and made a special vegetarian platter for me consisting of a delicious slaw - just enough sweetness, not drowning in dressing, and very fresh, hummus with sun dried tomatoes and fresh garlic cloves served with pita triangles, a delicious wild rice salad, and bright green, perfectly grilled, tender baby asparagus. As my cousin baked the birthday cake for the dessert, I didn't get to sample any of the Cowfish desserts, but I'm willing to bet they're as delicious as the rest of the food we enjoyed. By far one of my favorite spots out in the Hamptons! Great year-round option (they don't close in winter like some other places). Ambiance is fun and much more laid back than pretty much every other place out here. Mahi Mahi sandwich is always a winning choice! Kale salad is another delicious option - you can add shrimp, or chicken. Guac and chips, Spinach and artichoke dip also very GOOD (appetizers). Dined here many times, sometimes just as a couple, other times with family, visitors, and large group - staff is always friendly and professional. Consistent good quality. In the summer expect a VERY long wait - waterfront dining is worth it though and hard to come by in this area. Beautiful spot year-round! Admittedly, food here is on the heavier side overall, but they certainly have healthier + lighter options. read more

We've been going to cowfish for years and are VIL members. The ambience is always very nice and the staff is very friendly. We just went last night for Prime Rib Night. This is the 3rd time we've gone this season for the Prime Rib and have been disappointed. My wife and I ordered the same exact meals (prime rib medium rare and the loaded baked potato). Both items came out colder than room temperature and The Rib was so chewy it was borderline inedible. You could barely cut it. This was our goto place but we have now had 3 straight bad meals here. I don't know if they've changed their chef or something but it's been "off". We will try them one more time, not for the prime rib, and hopefully it's better. If not, we will sadly have to take our business somewhere else. read more

Cowfish is worth the visit for the view alone. Two outdoor decks on the 2nd floor provide an excellent view and a great outdoor dining experience. Another waterside bar just opened and I could easily sit there all day/night. But the "goodness" doesn't end with the view. I've been there 3 times so far and each experience has been a delightful surprise. Waitstaff is excellent -- speedy, informative and overall nice. The Homewrecker speciality drink is delicious. It's by far my new favorite cocktail. I've tried several appetizers on the menu -- all really good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The tuna poke is one that stands out. The Maui Wowi roll is enormous and easily can be shared with several people. Entree portion sizes are plentiful. The caesar salad with corn bread croutons is memorable. Today I tried the lobster and crab remoulade -- and loved it. Very fresh and tasty. I can only imagine this place getting better and better as they just opened. read more

Cowfish, I love you! We went there on a Friday night, severely underdressed for such a fabulous establishment (think shorts and t-shirts, as opposed to maxidresses and polo shirts), and didn't mind the 90 minute wait for a table. They have an amazing outdoor bar next to a dock where you can get very reasonably priced cocktails (for the Hamptons) while you wait. Once our table was ready, I listened to my friend's recommendation and ordered the fish sandwich not listed on the menu. I got this delicious piece of mahi, grilled to perfection, on brioche bread. It was seriously everything a fish sandwich should be. Husband ordered the burger and ate the whole thing, which is unusual. The service was excellent, considering the place was packed with people watching the supermoon. Definitely going back there on my next Hamptons visit. read more
