Chicken and waffles ($17) nov 2022
    Valerie N.

Service is a 5. Food is a 3. So I'll average it to a 4. The bartender and staff are all extremely friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Thanks for that! The food leaves something to be desired... I wouldn't come back for food. Potato chips: 4. They're good. Thinly sliced so they have a nice crunch. It reminds me of the potato chips from comedy cellar. Could these be sister comedy restaurants? Chicken and waffles: serving size was small, but potentially reasonable considering the cost for the area ($17). The waffle wasn't super crispy, not flabby like other restaurants. The waffle lacked flavor though. The chicken was crispy but it lacked seasoning. I was hoping to get a flavor explosion, but no such luck. I think the chicken was over cooked but it tasted exceptionally dry, even for white meat. Perhaps because the chicken is cut thinly. I wouldn't order this again.

What a brunch!!! We hadn't heard of Ways & Means before this outing, but decided to take a chance on it. We arrived right as the restaurant was opening. Settled in at the hightop by the window. The restaurant and bar are mostly white with dark modern touches. Clean, bright and streamlined. We came for the bottomless brunch and were so happy we did. Excellent cocktails! I'm pretty sure we sampled them all. Started with mimosas, then tried the Bloody Mary, Margaritas and spiked lemonade. All very good. For food we ordered the AM burger- Chuck, brisket, rib eye, fried egg, bacon with crispy fries. Also tried the Garden omelette with home fries. Liked 'em both enough to order them again. The staff was great. Checked on us often and made us feel welcome. Mixing alcohol was the only regret, especially having four each, but every drink was so tasty, it was worth it! Next time we'll check out a comedy show, too.

Let me just say this...... BEST SERVICE EVER. I would die for these bartenders. They were so accommodating and friendly. Great vibe and ambiance. Ummmm.... Not to mention a comedy show as well??? IM OBSESSED

    Marinated steak skewers and Calamari
    Edmund G.

Stopped in on a Friday evening before a show that was at The Bitter End as we saw that they had good reviews and small plates. We had a Vodka/Cranberry, a hot tea, and a coke, as well as Calamari, and steak skewers. The service was average as the person behind the bar area seemed to be interested in her phone quite a bit. The Calamari was good, and the marinated steak skewers had a good flavor but were very chewy. The meat was supposed to be Strip Steak but I have my doubts as I spent 42 years in the meat buisiness. ( I could be wrong, but leaning more towards sirloin ) Before we finished our plates and drinks we were asked to move from our seats as they had someone coming in for entertainment and they needed the end of the bar for that. Probably will not return but not a total bust.

Pink Paloma and Mediterranean gin and tonic
    Julia S.

I was walking around greenwich village and stopped by for drinks and a quick bite and ended up really liking the space. It's well decorated and has a fun, lively atmosphere. We got the Pink Paloma, Mediterranean Gin and Tonic, and the French fries. I thought the Pink Paloma and fries were good but not outstanding and the Gin and Tonic was a bit on the sour side. The host was very nice and attentive throughout the evening even though it was a busy night.

I had brunch at this little gem and the bottomless drinks are well worth your money!! You can get mimosas, certain cocktails and even some beers. I don't write reviews often but the service here was absolutely phenomenal and I wanted to give them a shout out. Thank you to the manager (or owner?) here who brought us a variety of hot sauces when we asked for a kick in our omelettes. I'll definitely be coming back for the comedy club tucked in behind the restaurant.

Went here for bottomless brunch and it was excellent! Lots of drink choices but the margs are the way to go and very well made. The service was excellent and the staff was extremely attentive and kind. The burger was solid no frills and tasty. Cool interior and ambience, recommend.

    Salmon, steak frites, crab cakes
    Charles C.

naurrrrr We came in on a whim as the table by the window looked lovely. Drink orders were taken right away but we waited ages before flagging someone down to order food. Crab cake was okay. Steak was unforgivably tough as it was ordered medium-rare. Fries were whatever - an aioli of some kind on the plate would've rocked and maybe helped the steak. Ate half due to hunger + the char grill flavor was present. I have no idea how my friend's salmon was but she finished it so probably better. The vibe in the bar was odd.

The expansion into the building next door tripled the Taproom, and the crowds tripled with it. Here's the thing though. The Irish Coffee is still the best in America. Served warm, not scalding, cream whipped to order and floated so it sits like a lid. Three tables around me ordered rounds at 2pm and nobody was wrong. The Parlor upstairs is where the actual bar still lives. Sixteen cocktails you can't get downstairs, table service, relative quiet. Downstairs, skip the fried chicken (it's tenders, whatever the menu says) and get the fish and chips, which are honest. Service was fast and a little impersonal, which is what happens when your ground floor is 60 percent tourists photographing the dollar bills on the ceiling. The 1828 building still does a lot of work, low ceilings and all. Is it the world's best bar anymore? No, and half the old bar team has scattered to open their own spots around town, Limo in the East Village being the latest. But a Guinness and an Irish Coffee here on a weekday afternoon is still one of the better hours you can spend below Chambers. Book the Parlor, treat the Taproom as the warmup.
