I had a great cleaning experience here. The dental hygienist was excellent and gave me a good cleaning despite my inability to open my mouth very wide because of arthritis in my jaw. I was a patient of Dr Cox for 9 years. Though I have no complaints of Dr Cox of the dental hygiene support staff, I am very disappointed with the overall practice and patient experience The front office staff was very rude and unprofessional. The practice is so busy that they take long time patients for granted. when I arrived , there was not even a greeting and when I left, I was asked to pay the bill and here is the kicker (in a very rude tone), " You have not paid your bills i.e. $9 for the last 6 monts, we have been sending you remainders". The sad fact is they have not sent me any remainders. This after having spent more than $6000 on the practice over the years. Dr. Miranda has been my dentist for the last 10-12 years. Dr. Miranda has always taken good care of my teeth and his staff is more than wonderful. Michelle is my go-to for my regular cleanings. She does a really good job and it's never uncomfortable. She remembers a lot about me and always asks about my parents (who are patients there as well) and it really makes me feel special. I highly recommend their office. I've had a bit of cosmetic work done with Dr. Miranda too, and he did a really good job. He's totally fair and I really appreciated the way he structured the pricing for me at the time so that I was able to upgrade my smile! read more

As always, the dental work is great, but we hate the Homer Street location and are looking to find a new dentist.

I loved coming here for my dental needs (but I moved, so I found a new dentist). Seriously. The receptionists were always helpful and kind. The waiting area magazines weren't so great, but you could watch CNN on TV while you wait. I didn't see Dr. Miranda that often but every time I did see him, he was charming and gentle. He helped me with my dental emergency and also redid my chipped tooth (and he did a fabulous job - the original dentist who fixed me up was so horrible that I avoided dentists for a few years). I usually saw Michelle (miss you Michelle) for cleanings. She always cleaned my teeth thoroughly. Her old office had a nice view of trees and I felt at peace as she worked on my teeth. I try to imagine that I'm in a spa while my teeth are being cleaned. The office has state of the art dental equipment. It's clean and very conveniently located (by Stanford Shopping Center). Dr. Cox is an absolutely great dentist! Always pushing me to not only fix current dental issues but want healthier teeth; always doing whatever he can to get me to come in and solve my dental problems. When I was having wisdom teeth complications after surgery, he called me all hours of the day to check in on me ( even though he wasn't the one who removed them.) Never have I seen a dentist so dedicated. I would absolutely recommend him. It breaks my heart to see any poor review. Dr. Cox has been my dentist since I was a little kid... dealing with braces. You know if you still like your dentist after that.... it's saying something. I have extremely sensitive teeth and TMJ, he has been nothing but gentle and comfortable. I've been going here for many years. Previous to that, I had frequently switched dentists. But when I found these guys I was done. I usually see Dr. Miranda. But I've also seen Dr. Cox a few times. I can't say enough about how skilled, caring, and committed they both are. The entire staff is excellent. They're all out to do the best job they can. I was one of those people who always hated going to the dentist. But I genuinely like just being in this office. Everyone there likes what they're doing and likes their co-workers. The original doctor I saw close to 30 years ago told me that he believes in keeping all live teeth. So to this day, I have all my wisdom teeth. I agree. Solid establishment in Palo Alto (Stanford Campus), plenty of free on-site parking, and also has a great list of specialist referrals whom I had great treatment. Dr. Miranda is by far the best dentist I have seen. I have terrible teeth, a low pain threshold and am a very nervous person. Dr. Miranda is consistently gentle, patient and kind. He is an amazing diagnostician and approaches all issues conservatively to limit intervention and cost while insuring great care. He graduated at the top of his class and is very skilled technically. I feel so thankful I found him as my dentist. His staff is always thorough upbeat and helpful. They always squeeze me in for emergencies and work with my schedule. Dr Miranda has been my dentist for 15 years. He has a lab to make crowns etc and did an excellent job matching color and making natural looking veneers for my front teeth. I had a dental emergency and they got me in right away and took care of a few other items while I was there!

I met with Dr. Miranda who I think generally does good work. However his partner, Dr. Cox seems to not have the skill set you would expect from practicing as long as he has. I would avoid this office because if Miranda is not in, Dr. Cox will work on your teeth and you don't want that. You never really know what you are getting from a doctor or dentist unless you are one or consult with one after the fact. I had a simple cavity that needed to be drilled that Cox identified. I could tell during the procedure Cox had struggled a bit. I went on and thought nothing of it. 4 months later I am visiting with my friend in Dental School and I get a checkup. From the x-ray my friend (a student at the time) asked me,"Who the heck fixed this cavity?" Apparently the work from Cox was so bad, he asked if he could show it to the other DDS. Each of them looked at it and said essentially, "It was one of the sloppiest filling they had ever seen. Especially because of the easy placement of the cavity." read more

Dr. Miranda was recommended to me years ago by a friend who deals with bones for a living; he told me that he has amazing technical skills and is also very nice. This friend of mine doesn't suffer fools and so I kept the advice in mind. When my old dentist retired a couple of years ago, I started going to a new dentist; unfortunately she didn't have much experience and was not communicative. So I decided to switch. I'm extremely glad I did. Dr. Miranda has the sort of deep knowledge that someone very smart who deals with something that interests him can develop. I could tell this even though our conversations have been very limited due to the pandemic. Just one thing he told me has been exceedingly helpful: he told me I grind my teeth. I had no idea. No-one had ever told me that before. So, I'm now wearing a guard. Suddenly I have hope of keeping a tooth that was getting worrisome. The only downside is that he is not on the list of dentists that my insurance covers most nearly fully; it costs more. However, if I had stayed with my old dentist I'd probably have lost a tooth by now. I really value information and so the extra cost is okay with me. read more

His calm personality and professionalism made everything easier. Natalie is an expert in her job, and I totally trusted her doing whatever was needed to be done . . Dr Miranda is great. I started going to him when I moved near my work in palo alto, and although I live in SF now, I continue to drive down to see him. Thanks to his expert work, a crown that had consistently fallen off when attached by other dentists (its a challenge as there is not much tooth to grab onto) he has managed to have stay on for almost a decade thus far. And recently I was having an oral health issue (outside of the world of dentistry) and he took the time to talk to me about the concerns and to recommend exactly which stomatologist (mouth doctor) I should see, as he knew them all. Great guy. Very warm and kind. He's done my cosmetic work for years and is a true professional. The support staff is great as well. One of the cool aspects to visiting Dr. Miranda is the cool mid-century building they're located in. Apparently, there are plans to demolish it and replace it with a new, larger (probably ugly) modern building. I met Dr. Miranda around 1993-1994. He is also from the same country as I am and where I came back in 1996, after my son was born. He was always very kind with me and with my dental problems and with my pocket too. I wish I could get in contact with him after all these years, and thinking that once again I will need the same kind of help, but here, in Chile. I didn,t like the two exeriences I had with dr. Miranda. On a brief consult for another dentist, hesaid the tooth bonding would be around $300.00. When I came in I was handed a bill for about 1600. I was very surprised and sent the assistant back with the bill. He came back and said they had included a number of other teeth. He adjusted it to what I first was told. The second time, I waited 10 min. Then an assistant came in, and didn,t have the paperwork I need. he went to get it. the 10 min later Dr. Miranda came in and looked what I need to have done and then told the assist to mix some amalgam, then he disappeared for 20 min. I asked about waiting, then I did again 10 minutes later and I asked where he was. the assistants didn't know and he wasn't in the office. At that point, I said that this was unacceptable , that I was leaving and won,t be back. Aside from this, when I had seen him he was unfriendly and rushed. Be careful of the bill, ask beforehand and prepare to wait without any Explanation or apology. Also, I had come back because the work was not done right. read more

Went in for a 15 minute consult with Dr Cox trying to find a DDS I liked. He never touched my teeth or even took an X-ray although he did look in my mouth. I was charged $147.00. Beware of this office. Found another wonderful DDS in the mean time whose first consultation was free! She now is my new DDS. How sad that we can't have a meeting with a DDS to see if we are comfortable with them and not be charged for it. read more
