We have had numerous issues with our phone, internet, and cable TV service. 3 visits from technicians and our problems are still not solved. To add to our frustrations, when we call to report the continual problems and ask for a service credit, we get put on hold forever. Sometimes they promise a credit, but the next time we call they say they have no record of a credit issued. This happens so consistently that I believe this must be intentional, simply trying to wear you down until you give up. I wish I had another cable option, I would switch in a minute. read more

I have not had a solid 7 days in a row where Cox internet did not go down or have a service disruption. What they do is they claim to have found some damaged equipment somewhere that needed to be fixed. With fixing that, this will somehow solve the problem. Then they just extend the ETA of the repair each day to its max duration before it passes 24 hours. They can call it a service disruption if it is only 24 hours. Then they claim to solve it and the internet does work for a small window. Then you wake up the next day and boom, service disruption again with a short ETA. ETA comes and goes, and boom its another all day outage. This has gone on for more than a month now. Only thing that keeps companies like Cox alive is the monopoly they have on internet services. Wish I could give zero stars! I moved here from California and thought no one can top Comcast but wow Cox you sure did! My bill was heading to $325 and they couldn't do anything about it. After their passive aggressive customer service people I gave up! I now have Century Link, I was in time to get the price for life and I'm loving it! I have high speed internet and a home phone for $110 (includes the modem) got Netflix for $14.99 and Sling for $24.99. I have so much stuff to watch, it's fantastic. My bill is less than half with everything added in. I am so happy every day that I don't have to be mad and price gouged. I love century link and have no problems. I like them and their service. If I could give less than 1 star I would! not only does this company have a monopoly for cable and internet in Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix area but they are the absolute worse when it comes to technical resolve of issues or installation problems. They don't honor or value customers time when we set up an appointment a week or two in advance and you confirm the appointment they still screw it up and not show up! I'm sick of wasting my entire day waiting for the technician to show up only to find out he's not gonna show and didn't bother to let the customer know. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I'm being stood up for a set appointment even when Supervisor confirmed the appointment with him. Everything from account set up, bill pay on multiple accounts to technical support they fall short on all levels and they don't care because they have a monopoly something needs to change with internet services in Arizona. Also they damaged my stucco wall by puncturing holes into two sides Thru the brick wall because they were too lazy to install and phish the cable line Thru properly. I choose 3 stars simply because the actual service and equipment was always up and running (never any issues even during storms). I am canceling my cable but kept internet and phone. There are so many other cheaper options when it come to TV. When I called to do so the representative was very rude and could not believe I was choosing another route with my cable. Most of the customer service was decent over the years but this last phone call was a little over the top with attitude from the gentleman from Cox. Cox charges way too much for internet speed and service. Upgraded services still are throttled unless you buy an unlimited plan (still too expensive). They also charge an installation fee (first I've ever seen for internet). I'm going to Century Link for 1/3 the cost (no installation fee) at fiber optic speeds. Cox customer service was very slow with a bad connection when I called to cancel. Can't help but think this is intentional for cancelling customers (they give you a phone number just for cancellations). Cox is a bad act and we are lucky to have a competitor in our area. read more

Cox Cable is ridiculously unreliable in Scottsdale! I had more reliable service in Sun City (an old community where utility and cellular service infrastructure is pretty old and not invested in as it should be) for approximately 8 years, than I have ever had in the past year and a half living in the well-monied, Resort Corridor area of Scottsdale. I am so sick with being given the same lame excuse for service outages over here. Cox is a highly profitable corporation with really no competition in this area yet they won't invest in upgrading infrastructure to meet the needs of their customers. Prices are always creeping up but service remains unreliable. The usual excuse for outages? Too many people online at the same time. At what point will Cox get some healthy competition? Only then will this corporation take steps to expand and upgrade infrastructure. They operate like a monopoly and take advantage of their customer base by not providing decent service to justify the exorbitant fees they charge for service. read more

Like the past three years I arrived in Mesa AZ in October. I called Cox to start my internet service. I have my own modem so this is usually a no brainer and service is turned on within moments. Not this time, they tell me they can't do this and I would need to pay $100 to have a tech come out and run a new fiber optic line. I am 68 years old with one computer and only want to answer emails. I don't do downloads and streaming so I really wasn't sure why I needed new lines. I just wanted the same service my neighbor has that's been living here year round with no issues. So I had to pay the fee and wait a week for the tech to arrive. After his review he was not able to fine a place to run a new fiber optic line. He wasn't sure why I was not able to use the current cable line for what I needed. Its now three weeks later and I managed to get my money back. I feel COX was trying to scam me into buying something I didn't need. For whatever reason even after the tech told them there was nothing wrong with the line I have and my neighbors have. They still will not turn on my service. This company is unbelievable. read more

I've called cox customer services multiple times and every time I speak with representatives they all say the same thing "It shows the internet is being wonky, let me reset your modem" but when that doesn't work they'll try and send someone out here then charge me for it! COX Cable in the Phoenix, AZ area advertises low rates if the consumer commits to a 2-year contract. What they don't tell you is that just because you commit at one rate doesn't mean they won't change the terms of the agreement and increase the rate. In March 2017, I signed up with COX Cable for internet and TV services. The FIXED 2-year rate was supposed to be $129.99 per month. When I agreed to this service I assumed that my cable and internet service would stay the same (content and cost) until the end of February 2019. WRONG! In agreeing to this plan, I also signed up for electronic statements and automatic payments. One less thing to worry about. The payments would be made automatically. COX got paid and I would have uninterrupted service. Perfect, right? In August 2017, I received an email from COX telling me that my account was more than $249.63 past due. To make a very long and crazy story shorter, when I called them to find out what the problem was they told me that the campaign I signed up for in March had ended in May 2017 and my cable bill is now $218.00 per month. Yes, almost a $100.00 more per month. I was informed that the potential for the increase was explained in the monthly statement. Admittedly I had not been looking at the statements. I saw that the payments were made (alerted by my bank) and I knew I had an agreement with them for the fixed cost until February 2019. This practice seems very deceptive and unfair. How can it be legal, fair, or, appropriate for COX to be able to change an agreement and be allowed to raise the cost of service that much. COX won't tell people but maybe you can. If I can find another service I will say good-bye to COX. If for no other reason their unethical and unfair practices. read more

I was going to switch from Cox to CenturyLink (I'm in Phoenix, AZ) but after reading  a few reviews -- all bad -- I will have to stick with Cox. Cox randomly marks e-mails as spam when they are not. I have asked a supervisor at least three or more times to handle this problem but no one knows how to do it apparently. Three times with no results. Now I have another problem in addition to the first one. The e-mails do not travel from Cox to my Mac Mail. This just started happening with no warning. When I called and talked to a senior tech, he said their e-mail servers were down and he did not know when they would be fixed. This was a week ago. My overall experience with Cox has been bad from the beginning. They are extremely incompetent. The last two times I called they wanted to charge me $75 for help when it is THEIR SERVERS WHICH ARE MALFUNCTIONING. That's not all that's malfunctioning. So I'm stuck with them since it appears that CenturyLink is even worse. read more

There should be an option for ZERO Stars for companies like Cox. Have you ever played 3 card monty? That is what the constant jerking around of your bill feels like. They scam and play games here how it goes.... You get your "surprise" bill, the one that jumps up dramatically...might even double in value. You call and they say that was a promotional rate & it has expired "let me see if I can find you another discount". Then the discount they mysteriously find they present it to you as a huge savings but they are comparing it to the jacked up higher bill you just received & called about that nobody is willing to pay in the first place. However even with the "new discount" now applied if you compare it to your previous bill it still went noticeably up which is how they get you. Then you get the every 6 or 12 month rate increase "just because" which is on top of the promotional discount debacle. Cox Cable is, without a question, the worst service provider that I've ever had the misfortune of engaging. One is torn between which is worse: 1) Their provision of service or 2) Customer service. My internet has been down for 4 days. I go to their app and it advises there is a network outage impacting my service. After 24 hours without service, I called them and they said they have no record of a network outage. I advised them it was on their app and they even sent me "updates" via text. When we have a "technician" come to our home, it ALWAYS a contractor from out of state. When I was chatting with them, one was from NE and he worked on sewing machines and another was from MI and he worked on washers and dryers. They don't understand their own equipment and have never been trained. We all need to go to the PUC and beg them to dismantle their monopoly or force them to upgrade their provision of service and customer service. THEY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GET IT! read more

The customer service representatives have always been extremely friendly, professional & courteous...however the service provided by COX by way of the Internet & Cable are horrible. We have service interruptions almost daily now. We've had @ least 3 service attendants visit our home with the intent of resolving the service issues, however the issues remain. Awful cable and internet service. Internet would go out once a week and then they wanted to charge me for a technician to come out. I switched to century link internet and it has been amazing. I kept cox cable and got the contour upgrade. Half the time I have to unplug then replug in the cable box and it still doesn't work. Cable companies are a monopoly and I would switch to dish or direct tv if my complex allowed me to have a satellite dish on my balcony , wish I could give cox negative stars. I called cox with the request that I have the cheapest possible Internet and cable that included Disney channel for 3 rooms. I specified I did not want a contract or any additional services such as a house phone. The installation tech comes to set up services and the work order had a channel package that doesn't include Disney channel, had a 2 year contract and a house phone with only 1 room. After being on the phone for 2 hours they finally adjust my terms and include what I initially requested. I was happy. But then I try to use my wifi and it doesn't work anywhere in the house. This is by far the worst cable provider experience I've gone through and I don't recommend it to anyone. read more
