I just got Cox bronze bundle $99.99 / mt which included an extra $9.99 for phone FCC fees monthly. When I called them after the first 10 days of service and wanted to downgrade to the Contour TV/Internet only for $89.99, I was told I was on a promotion price and if i downgraded, I would lose the promotion and the new price for just TV/Internet would be $164 / mt and not $89.99 / mt!!! I was so pissed as SALES lied to me and told when I got service that I had 30 days to downgrade/upgrade if I was not happy. Nobody told me I would lose my promotion bundle and have to pay extra. Now I am stuck with phone and HBO since I do not need it?? I have read countless of issues and bad customer service with Cox but there is nobody else in Foothill Ranch I could use and I feel Cox is screwing with its new customers. read more

This company has extremely bogus, pathetic and unbelievably incompetent service. We are a small business(a doctor's office) and switched from ATT&T to Cox today. Cox technician came placed the modem/router in one corner and refused to connect the modem to anything stating that " That was not his job!!!". We don't have an IT department or even an IT person on staff. When we tried to switch the routers we lost the internet and our VoiP phone service. We had a busy afternoon and not only we couldn't check any clinical information on our patients(Our EMR is in cloud!) but we had no phone service! When my office manager called Cox, they told her that they can bridge the phone line and restore the internet service in a second- but for security reasons, she has to call from the landline phone(which was down because internet was not working!). Well, there is no way to call from a phone that was not working. Finally, my wife got a technical service person to help. He was able to restore internet to 2-3 computers and 2-3 phones stating that the rest of the computers and phones were not connected right!!(Apparently, these were connected right when AT&T was providing the exactly same services a few hours ago!!!!). We lost quite a bit of business and probably upset a few of the patients. How ridiculous and insensitive a company can be! I am going to ask them to pick up their junk tomorrow and stay with AT&T. Well, this had nothing to do with the Irvine location. I had to choose a location. Cox just sucks. Cox communications always aims to charge more money. Recently about one to two months ago, they said that they were working to upgrade to all digital and that the old TVs would not be able to receive signals anymore unless a mini box was installed. I have a very old TV so I ordered a mini box. I followed instructions, tried for half an hour. the mini box didn't work. So I had to call customer services. They didn't know how to make it work over the phone so they dispatched a technician. When the technician came, I asked if I did anything wrong in installation. He said that everything was correct. The problem was that I needed to first to be on channel 3. He changed to channel 3 before final setup. Everything worked. The funny thing is that the instructions did not mention that it needed to be in channel 3 before finishing setup. I specifically asked the technician that I should not be charged as the instructions were incomplete. He said that he'd put a code in so I would not be charged. The next time the bill came, I was charged $25 for his visit. I see that they intentionally made the instructions incomplete so they could charge the technician visit. Luckily, I look at the bills. I called their technical department and asked for the credit back. I wonder how many out there getting charged by the missing info in the mini box setup instructions. If you don't look at the bills, You would end up with getting ripped off intentionally. Also, Cox raises what they charge every few months. The inflation does not go up not much as the government reported but I certainly see high inflation in the cox bills. read more

They do not even deserve one star! Its been two weeks and Im still waiting for them to come back to fix what was not properly installed the first time. That 2 HOUR window they give you.... DO NOT count on it!!! 1-3 is more like 3:30. My 2 hour window turned into a 6 hour appt and it was still not set up correctly and that is if your lucky they even show up at all rather than make a lame excuse that they tried to call you several times and knocked on your door then cancel your appt which happened for my second appt to fix what tech #1 didn't no. There is a Voicemail for a reason. I do not believe COX service techs are even trained on customer service. After waiting on sat for my two hour window and calling right at 10am letting them know no one showed, i was told the tech cancelled the appt because he tried calling me and i didn't answer. NOT! He left no message, nothing. I spoke to a supervisor and she stated she didn't know the protocol as to if they leave messages, etc. My case was to be escalated and I have not heard from anyone. So today I called and the tech tried to fix some issues but could not. I have no working phone, no dvr and channels not coming through. So why should i pay for service I am not receiving? Extremely by far the WORST customer service I have received. If I had a choice on my provider it would definitely NOT BE COX!!!!! My 3rd appt is scheduled for sat since I cannot miss work to deal with this, but I get to waste a whole sat (day off) hoping this time they finally get it right. read more

Been with the cox network for a year now and I've called their customer service at least 12 times. I live in the smallest apartment and yet I can only get wifi connection when I'm only a feet away from the router. Everytime I call them and beg them to send someone out to come and look at it, they come up with a billion excuses. My phone data goes over limit because my home wifi doesn't work when I want to work. And since last month they raised my bill an other $20 dollars for something that DOES NOT WORK!!! Word of advice. If a loved one suddenly gets put on life support without first signing a POA (power of attorney), don't expect any sympathy from Cox. Despite having a letter from the hospital, a copy of my loved ones bill and all the codes needed to sign onto their online account and make me an "authorized user", Cox refused to allow me to cancel the service (apparently they want to continue billing my loved one even though they cannot -- and probably will not -- EVER be able to use their service again) and, believe it or not, said they wouldn't even allow me to return the equipment without a POA in hand. Apparently they just want me to clear out his apartment and leave the equipment there so they can try and collect from the next sap who occupies his apartment!! My Rancho San Joaquin apartment in Irvine was supposedly already wired for TV, internet, and phone service. When Royce and Carlos from Cox subcontractor Sunshine Communications came to do my "simple" installation is wasn't SIMPLE. One connector was painted over and had a very poor signal while another was completely dead and ALL the phone digital lines (3) were non-existent. They worked efficiently to solve all the problems and had to virtually re-wire the entire apartment including adding a new connector. When they left I had TV, internet, and phone service. I feel lucky to have had such GREAT installers!!! read more

Absolutely the worst people to deal with. I signed up with Cox a year ago and was told the promotion that I signed up for would be for 24 months. After 12 months I received my bill and the payment went up approximately $71.00. When I called to question it they told me when I received my first bill it explained (in small print) that they could raise my rate after one year and by continuing to make the original payment on a regular basis, it construed my agreement to the increase. I signed up for automatic payments, so I don't even remember getting a hard copy bill. Don't do business with these people, they know they are losing business to online streaming, and they try to make their current customers make up for the loss. read more

I am so tired of not having choices when it comes to cable/internet services. I thought monopolies were against the law. This P*S cable works only when it feels like it. I have missed the ends of movies, exciting football plays, important breaking news because it will just shut down and restart on its own time. If I could give this service 0 stars, that's what it would get. The internet actually works great. The cable is an entirely different story. Worst I've ever had. I should get free service for a year. Worst Worst Worst service. I would give five negative stars if I can. COX has exclusive rights in Irvine area. They think they own us and we have no other choices so takes advantage of us. I recomment every one to write about their bad service to Federal Communication and to the Attorney General of California. I can't imagine they are getting away with all wrongdoing like increase your rates if you don't lock for two years after few months when you start without letting you know and every time you call, you waste at least half a day. I was quoted a raste and once I agreed to add the package, when I asked for the bill, it was $50.00 high. When I told to remove the service, my rate went up more and their answer was that I only would get discount if I have three services. It is ridiculous. Everyone should protest and get the Google fiber as soon as it is available. I am sick of COX. read more

Cox Contour boxes don't work as often as they do. We have been frustrated beyond belief. We we called their tech help, they offered to upgrade the boxes but we would have to pay for the tech to come out and do so. I needed help with modem/Ethernet connection. First, it is so hard to get someone on the phone and when I finally got someone twice they told me the wrong thing. Thank goodness for the tech, Chase, who came to my house today. He went ABOVE and beyond what he was supposed to do. First he was able to change my telephone land line connection to an Ethernet connection (not part of his normal duties but he was nice enough to do it anyways) and then he went so far as to look at my cox security system. Something I did not ask for (I had called for modem and not security system) but he offered and was able to notice the back up cellular communication SIM/module was not working so he replaced the main control system. He also replaced my batteries on the sensors that were signaling low battery. Thank you Chase. If it were not for you then I would have given Cox a lower rating since Cox security system never notified me that the back up cellular connection was not working (how would I have known had Chase not checked my security control system) and also for the 2 times I called technical support and they gave me the WRONG information. read more

This review is for Cox Communications in general (not specifically their Irvine, location) but I was required to pick one specific location. I have been a Cox customer for over 17 years. I have had the same business phone number since the inception of my business in 2000, which was our main business line. Three weeks ago the number was taken away from us and given to another phone carrier. I immediately called Cox upon finding this information out from one of our customers. Cox advised that any other phone carrier can take a number from them as long as they have the business name and correct zip code. I found this extremely frustrating as not only do I have to provide my name, address, and phone number to talk to a representative about my account, but I also have to provide a 4-digit pin before anyone will even speak with me. To make a long story short, it is now three weeks later and we still do not have our number back. Our business has taken a huge financial hit and we have lost numerous customers. Cox has advised they have no paperwork they can provide to us regarding the other company's request for our number as no information was required of them (such as our consent, signature, PIN, written notification). Pretty much Cox advised our number was just handed over to them and that this is the FCC policy. I called the FCC and they advised me that Cox is completely wrong about this. They said another company can not just take my number from them without my authorization. The FCC said this should have never happened. Bottom line is it sound like COX made a error in releasing my number. I do understand human error and that this could happen, but what I don't understand is if it was that easy to get rid of my phone number why Cox can not get it back to me. I get a different story from every representative I contact. I can call my number and it is answered by another business. So frustrating at this time I just want my number back so the problem doesn't put us out of business. I would definitely recommend another company due to the poor handling of a problem that is so big for us. read more

Terrible customer service. I pay more than $50 a month for TV Japan so that I can watch sumo. Last night it didn't work. I called Cox technical support this morning and the lady told me that the problem was with TV Japan. I then called TV Japan and was told that they had hundreds of complaints from Cox customers (not one call from a single Time Warner customer). So, I called Cox technical support again at 11:09 AM and spoke to a very rude man named Scott (boy, those people at TV Japan are polite!!) who told me that he didn't have any information. Scott was brief in his response and rather nasty in attitude. I asked him if there was any compensation for this inconvenience. He responded snarkily, saying, "What? For missing a tv show?" "Yes", I said. He grumbled and said, "a dollar sixty-seven is your compensation." Understand that sumo is on for fifteen days every two months. I get up at midnight to watch it and when Cox has a malfunction, I expect the employees to be more professional than Scott. read more

Dear Cox, I spend $75 a month for internet from you. I get 95% slowdowns EVERY NIGHT, that's right, I get 5% of what I pay for for almost 12 hours a day EVERY day. I have called over 6 times, had two technicians sent out, both of which were late and did not solve the issue, they didn't even improve it. I have spoken to customer service reps who have said there is nothing that they can do to help me, and when I asked to speak to a manager they informed me, 'they will say exactly what I did'. Which happened to be a lie every time. One manager kept pushing the fact that they will need to send a tech out despite tech's already coming here twice with no results. When the last tech came out he took one look at my set up and had to call his friend (who didn't even work for COX) and asked how to power cycle a modem... WHAT?! He left after 5 minutes, then informed you that I needed to replace my router even though he didn't even test. which lead me to owe you a $75 service charge. First off, I tested my speeds directly from my modem without issue. Makes sense right? Well apparently not to your managerial staff, because I had to argue for over 5 minutes with the rep who told me that the charge will stand because, 'that's just what the tech said'. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with your internet consistency AND your customer service. I was promised to be called back after I requested a permanent discount on my account but never received that call. I can't wait for Google Fiber, and I'll be convincing everyone I know to move over with me. What a shame. read more

If there was something below one star I would definitely give it to this company. Never in my life was I deceived and cheated into a service just to make a deal. The representative kept pressuring me and telling me that we can make a deal before year end and it will be discounted and it will support my needs when in reality it doesn't even load a website on my phone and I haven't used it once. Cox business lied to me and told me that they would give me Wi-Fi that supported both my POS system and my security cameras and I believed him. I tried talking to the representative 3 days after they installed service and told him it's horrible and doesn't support either POS and cameras and he was like ok you can upgrade to a higher speed for $300 something a month!! I'm like no because you promised me this speed will support. He knew I was on an extremely tight budget but he didn't care just make the sale. I even try to escalate it escalated to his manager and just like him he did not help. I keep on asking to be escalated to someone higher or even corporate because that's how far I'm willing to take this since nobody is listening to me but nobody will give me a number that can actually help me. I'm never ever going to work with Cox again and I will tell every single person I know how horrible this company is. It's been about four months now and I still have not paid the bill for this service that does not even work for me and I refuse to pay it and I'm locked in a two-year contract and I will not pay even if it goes to collections and I've never had anything go to collections on my record before but because this is beyond ridiculous and horrible I refuse to pay it read more

Personally I think one star is way too much. For the past month I've had to place the same order for new Internet twice now three times. The customer service representative said do not supply you with enough information and do not elaborate on the details of your contract. After taking the day off of my three jobs today I had to sit through a five hour phone conversation between me and five different clueless customer representatives. And after wasting five hours of my time and money I found out that the technician wasn't going to show up at the time that I reserved him to show up. So now I have to schedule another day off on the 29th to waste my time with Cox communications again thank you very much but no thank you. I agree, I would give negative star rating If I could. Over the years I've had service from most providers but Cox is by far the absolute worst. We moved in and started service 3 weeks ago. The cable has gone completely out twice and when it is working there are issues. The customer service and tech support reps only know the absolute basics and once they hit their limit there is nothing they can do to help. They just don't care at all. Today would have been the fourth service call in 3 weeks for troubleshooting and/or repair. Was sitting here waiting for them to arrive in the usual tine window. No one shows up. I called and they said there was no appt made despite it being noted on the account. I called Friday afternoon and spent two hours doing the standard troubleshooting over and over. They offered to send a tech and first available was Sunday morning. ALL WEEKEND without cable & internet. I was already unhappy but now they don't even show up!! And there is nothing Cox is willing to do to remedy this problem even though it was clearly their mistake!! COX = THE WORST!! read more

Got an automated call last night asking if we were still going to make our appointment today...replied yes. Got off work a couple of hours early ($$$$ lost)...to meet this idiot cable guy and he NEVER showed up???!!!! GRRRRR THEN when we called to let them know (Cox) they said sorry we can reschedule your appointment but the next available appt. is NEXT WEEK!!!! UGH!!!! I HATE THESE PEOPLE!!!!
