The manager wouldn't honor an online discount to set up my service with cox. I was trying to switch internet providers to cox, where an "online only" discount that was available at my address. Cox phone representatives set me up, I went through the steps for the online discount, paid the deposit and the only needed to go to the store to get a modem and complete the billing process... but this manager at this location refused to do it. It felt like he was negotiating prices with me on the spot rather than going forward with an online discount I have in writing. When I went in the store the manager did not believe the online discount price, so I showed him. He disputed its validity so we put in my information together and it showed valid. However, he said he will not accept that online discount and would not push my online enrollment/payment through and give me a modem that I already put a deposit down for. Gianeva, the store manager was very helpful when I called in with a very frustrating billing issue that I haven't been able to resolve through the Cox central number. The Cox central number is useless. All the calls get routed to some central location and all they do is take down your remarks and issue ticket #s and you never hear a follow up again. But Gianeva from the Woodbury location was able to pull up my account for me and explain to me what had happened. Too bad she didn't have authority over billing issues but at least she clarified what was happening and gave me advice on how to resolve it. I've been with Cox for three years and expected decent service, but my recent experience has been nothing short of frustrating. According to their website, you're supposed to be eligible for a new router every three years, which makes sense since routers don't last forever. But when I tried to claim mine, the customer service reps gave me nothing but excuses. I spoke with two different people, and both refused to send a new router despite the fact that my current one is slowing down. Instead, they pushed for troubleshooting and other useless options that didn't address the real issue. I work from home and don't have time to do their job for them. Cox has no problem charging a $75 technician fee but refuses to provide a basic service that they advertise on their own website. If you're considering Cox for internet, just know that their customer service is unwilling to help and doesn't honor their own policies. They clearly don't care about their customers, just about squeezing as much money out of them as possible. Avoid them if you can. read more

Conner is the worst sales person at the place. I was working with Lando and Conner stepped in to "assist". He did not take a step to understand that I was picking up a modem and tried to sell me on some services. When I tried to explain the situation, he started to raise his voice. He told Lando that it was not his fault and looked at me. I matched his tone and said it wasn't my fault, and he asked me to sit down. I feel bad for Lando who seemed to be in training. Beatriz ! Best customer service I have received at a telecom or phone or internet provider company, ever! She is very professioal, courteous, and knowledgeable. I came in to upgrade my cable modem-wifi-router, and the entire transaction took 5-10 minutes. She even asked whether anyone would be inconvenienced, if she deactivated the cable modem at the house, so that she can activate the new one. This saves the hassle of me having to call back to activate the new modem after installation. Everything went very smoothly in-store, and at home, due to Betriz's stellar service and care. Cox now offers cellphones on Verizon, so if you're thinking of getting a new Verizon phone, I would definitely go to this Cox location, and ask for Beatriz. read more

I am writing this review for the excellent service provided to us by David Cardenas. He was polite, knowledgeable, honest and best of all - he was able to resolve my concerns. I accidentally dialed the Woodbury store's number thinking I was calling the Quail Hill location. I intended to downgrade my service because as we all know, the rates are getting ridiculously expensive every year. Over a week ago, a rep at the Quail Hill location quoted us $ 90 to keep internet only. Prior to speaking to David, I called & spoke to a female representative from the Retention Department to see if they can lower my bill and I was told by the rep that those promotions have expired. She was trying to convince me that even with the higher rate at $ 217, that this was the best deal available, and that the promotion extended to me before was no longer available as they were taking a loss on those. I then asked for the $90 internet only pricing quoted by the Quail Hill rep and this female rep added another $ 45 to the $ 90 if I wanted to just keep the internet so over $ 150 for internet at 150 mbps. That was when I dialed the Woodbury store by mistake and David Cardenas picked up the phone. I explained my situation and he quoted me a price of $ 87 for my internet service bundled with HomeLife and the price will be guaranteed for 24 months. When my husband and I showed up the following day to pick up the modem, David confirmed it is $ 87 and no other catch. I had spoken to multiple people and nobody at Cox (store, chat or phone support) gave me this option. Everyone I spoke to (before David) provided a much higher price. We also asked David to price a package with TV as well, and his quote was a lot lower than the others. Kudos and thank you so much David! Cox needs more people like you. read more

I came to this store for the first time ever to try to renew my TV/Cable package, it seems that after my contact ends, the monthly fee changes from $165 to $220+ per month (no longer including movie channels which I had). There was no other customer in there so I got served immediately and the rep in there was courteous and professional enough. It took him almost 5-10 minutes for him to bring up my account and give me a quote of nearly $200 which was actually more than what I found online. Not sure why it took so long to get a quote that is not even as good than I could get myself, but the rep there did almost the opposite of what I expected, he didn't seem to care that I would not renew, he didn't try to explain other packages or ask what I wanted, I told him that AT&T has a better deal and he said okay, I can just return my equipment at the final date. So while I didn't have any issues with rudeness or a pushy salesperson, I did think that the packages and the sales was really not useful or attractive at all. It's no wonder cord-cutting (via YouTube TV, Hula TV, Sling), is growing so fast these days, these cable companies seem to be giving up without a fight for our business. read more

We pay $250/month for TV and Internet. The DVR is trash and my supposed 1gig download has never been more than 175mb and that was at 2AM. When I called them they asked for a $10/month membership to some scam service for them just to look at my connection. On top of the slow speed and constant disconnects their garbage internet has a cap and you'll get financially punished for using what you are paying for. read more

This post is directed at the machine who monopolizes the fiber optic channels so working class folk can't afford to have internet, to do their school work and, now work from home. This company continues to partake in unethical/ deceptive business practices such as the bait and switch technique. They lock you in @ 79.99 then send you a letter saying your promotional period has ended and you have two choices to renew which both are lesser than the service you subscribed to not including the higher rate with a 24 month obligation example 105.00 a month. Both plans offered mbs lower than the one in the promo. This is reminiscent of predatory lending. I am very disappointed with the spectrum, i call many times and talk with multiple people but they charge for the the location which i left before one month and i call them in 12th to cancel my service from 19th but I don't know why they didn't canceled the seven and had to call them back again in 20th to ask why they don't cancel my service? but they said their service billing start from 19th and i call on 20th but I don't why they don't set up cancellation when i call on 12th now they send me bill for the whole month and when i call them again they said i have to pay, I don't have any other choice. Personnel seem to lack the technical knowledge to help customers and routinely close early and have a long line to process any type of transaction. Personally just closed my $70 internet only agreement for 2gb/s service that was returning 250mbps actual service. I came in to return a piece of equipment that wasn't working when first received and the clerk actually had the nerve to lecture me about returning things on time! Got me to sign a 12 month contract after seeing an ad for a deal that stated I'd pay around $50/mo for 100mbps (and I took a screenshot to show the confirmation online), then continued to charge me $60. I called the company and the first representative I spoke to stated that she changed the billing back to $50/mo (+ another $10 for the modem). However, after I checked online it still said I had to pay around $72 (they still charged me $60 instead of the $50), and when I called a second time (what a pain, honestly), the representative condescendingly told me that was never even a deal, and that the price was firmly $60. And I had already signed the 12 month agreement so I was basically trapped. Cox is a scam :( don't fall victim to their false advertising. So relieved to be done with their services. read more

Cox cable company is so dishonest. So for four months in a row, the card I have on file with Cox cable to pay my monthly dues has gotten compromised three times on the 8th of each month and payment for Cox is due on the 9th of each month. So incidentally I close my credit card and they send me a new one. Well today before I had a chance to go online to give Cox my new number, they had already for a fourth time charged me $25 late fee even though I go online and pay my bill. So each time I must call them to get them to credit me the $25 late charge when I paid same day as it is due. This company is sooo dishonest. I even saw Cox come out and disconnect my Wi-Fi, from my surveillance camera. But I did not know that until I called them to come out stating my Wi-Fi is down. The guy comes out and told me it's my router. Well prior to him coming out, I looked inside outside cable community box in the ground and noticed my wire disconnected that runs into my townhome. So I decided to wait and see what this guy tells me. Boy was I furious when he tells me it's my router. I then called him out on his lying. I told him to hook me back up. He did and left. I opened my surveillance cameras and saw the evening prior a Cox technician was out at the cable box on the ground. He disconnected my wires. I complained to customer service but they did nothing. I've tried both cox and google fiber for internet and I must say google DOMINATES! Cox always has network issues, inconsistent speeds, and bad equipment. Google has been a way better experience. Consistent and fast speeds. Equipment and customer service superior too. I even tried cox again at 50% faster speeds and cheaper price but surprise surprise it was not even close to advertised and now I'm back on fiber and couldn't be happier. Cox just upped my internet bill again from $59.99 to $89.99 without saying a word. Fortunately I caught it. I called them up and asked why and they said I was on a promotional special that ended and they no longer offered, and they no longer offered 150mbs service. I asked how we could reduce my bill and they said I was at 150mbs and they could reduce me to 100mbs for $69.99. I reluctantly agreed thinking it was time to switch to ATT. I looked up ATT and they had a special going for ATT offered 100mbs for $50, and 300mbs for $50 for 1 year. It would increase to $60 for the 100mbs and $80 for the 300mbs after 12 months. I called Cox and they matched ATT's price saying "They had the same special offer". Of course the Coxuckers never mentioned they had another special going. They were happy to hang up the phone with me paying $89.99. I hope Cox goes out of business for their unscrupulous business practices. Not just this, but they used to rearrange the channel line up when I had cable and sell me back the same channels at an inflated price. read more

Terrible workers. First time someone knowingly lied to me about the services/products being provided. I came in to sign up for internet because I needed it same day. I found the offer I wanted and came in and basically said this is what I wanted, $39.99 for 150Mbps line (thank you Google Fiber for being a competitor so they would give me these kinds of promo). The guy (Christian) told me they have to look up my address to see what's available and found "the best deal he's ever seen" at $64.99. I told him I wanted the $39.99 but he kept trying to go on about how great this deal is and how much I'd be saving. I told him I would rather just sign up online then and he was finally magically able to find the package. He said it would be $39.99 + $5 in taxes and fees. It's been a while since I signed up for Cox and I do remember them doing this "taxes & fees" stuff so I hesitantly believed him for a minute but since I did not see it showing any taxes & fees online I repeated the question probably another 3-4 times "The plan is $39.99 for the internet and $5 in taxes and fees right?" and he said "Yes" every single time. When he finally brought out the equipment he brought along a "Contour Streaming Player" which I thought was weird since I never asked for it and I asked him if I'm paying anything for that and I remember he said "No". I asked him later on again "This doesn't cost anything right?" and he said "No". I asked him to show me the breakdown after, which he agreed to but he never did, and I forgot about it. Finally when I got home, set up my internet and was pretty happy for a day. I then checked my billing the next day and the $5 "taxes & fees" was in actuality the $5 monthly cost for renting the "Contour Streaming Player". Christian literally lied to me 6-7 times that day. I called Cox customer service just to reconfirm and yup Christian had added on something I NEVER agreed too. It's not a lot of money but now I have to deal Cox customer service and everyone knows, that's no fun. I went back and called him out on it and he kept trying to say that he said the streaming player was "included" and not free and that he's "sorry you heard it wrong". When I brought up how Cox doesn't do "taxes & fees" anymore and that he was straight up lying, he said froze for a bit before saying "well, there's always taxes & fees". I asked to see the manager as I thought they should know he's straight up lying to his customers but honestly, the manager didn't seem to care much, which makes me believe maybe they're even trained that way. I returned the streaming player and they promised they would credit me back $5 for it. I check it the next day and guess what, they charged me for the two days I had which was like $0.18 or something. It's not enough for me to go back and further complain, my time isn't that worthless but enough to show I should go with someone else. If you can, I highly suggest you avoid Cox and if you must go this location then especially avoid Christian and no matter who you get, make sure the billing comes out right. There's no such thing as "taxes & fees" anymore, Cox doesn't do that anymore. On top of that, look up how to change your DNS server cause the Cox provided one will slow down your internet. I switched to Google Fiber and despite being forced into paying for a higher plan, I'm wayyy happier. Google has provided the best customer service I've ever seen from any Internet Service Provider (which isn't saying much tbh). Every single person I've interacted it from Google has been super friendly and easy to deal with. They even provided these cool Google Wifi Routers that creates a Wifi mesh around your home to ensure you'll always get great signal. I'm happy I can pay only slightly higher and not be forced into supporting a terrible company like Cox. I did an live chat with Cox for like an hour only to be giving wrong information (lady claimed Elite Gamer didn't come with Panoramic Router, this is false, it does). I've never dealt with AT&T and wouldn't expect much better from them but I also doubt they can be worse than the experience I had. Oh and almost forgot, if you plan on cancelling, be prepared to say "No" about 10 times and listen to how they can't even do anything for you. Ive only been here once, and I thought my experience was very great. I had just moved into the area...right in ESPERANZA and my roomates told me to handle the cable bill, so I did. I drove across the street and entered the store. Note: THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD EVER HANDLED ANY SORT OF BILLING ISSUE I walked in clueless, with no idea of what to do or how to do it. I was greeted by an asian girl (the hotter looking one) and was helped right away. She explained to me in detail how the cable system worked and what were the available packages. She also told me about the promotions as well. While I was talking to her, she was also very patient with me as I called each of my roommates asking them if they would both agree to the package/plan that I bought. Couple of minutes later, package/plan was purchased and walked out of the store a satisfied customer. No trouble, no problems, no wait, nothing at all. No resolution until 6 months later after paying $40 extra every month. They finally suggested a new modem since mine was old. Keep in mind I have had Cox for several years with no change of usage. Just recently they started charging data overage. To make things worse I went to this location to return my old modem. Explained the situation to the manger and he suggested to sign for tv service to get a bundle discount for unlimited internet. He told me just to plug in the box and the package they gave had everything to connect the tv. It's been over 4 months still not able to plug in the tv device since I do not have a coaxial set up in my living room.
