Long story short, my internet was working and did the on/off, plug/unplug process with customer care and they deemed that I needed a new modem etc. told them I would pick it up but of course they decided to ship it instead. But that was when I met Monica, she handled my frustration professionally and MOST importantly, she was able to fix my internet issue, I got home, it was working. No need to change anything. Was trying to install fiber. They said they will call 30 min ahead of the appointment. They called 5 min prior to let us know they were there. This was from dispatch. The driver never called us like they were supposed to. I rushed home from work to open the door but they left because no one was there. The worst part is that they use vendors and vendors can care less about customer satisfaction. read more

It has now been 24 hours since I got my google fiber and I can't say I love but can't really hate it. I was tired of cox so I switched because they kept sending me thousands of mail about their $70/mo offer for 1gbps speeds. The application was so simple and the pickup was ready by next day. The office is located inside The Village apartments so parking is terrible because there's never space in front of the store. The employees there are presumably college kids who couldn't care less what customer service means. Not a single person stood up or acknowledged me upon entry except the one who was actually going to help me out and even then he didn't bother to stand up to greet me. He spent his entire time sitting at the chair he was already at and plugging away at his MacBook. If you were a touch and go individual then you wouldn't mind the lackluster service but don't come here expecting something spectacular. I got home and started setting up but grew frustrated because the Ethernet to my fiber Jack wasn't working throughout my home which led to me plugging one of my wifi points directly into the fiber Jack itself in order for it to work. During this issue I found that it was free to have a technician out to install which was neat but I work from home and didn't have any time to waste. The following day I received a text message from who I assume is the sales rep that helped me out. He messaged me because he couldn't get the serial numbers written down correctly on my file which provide to be extremely inconvenient because I had to open up my electrical closet just to retrieve this info for him. I obviously have no clue if this is something he could've just checked himself before handing me the product but it just adds to my annoyance as well. The last thing that really annoyed me was the fact that the service boasts of 1gbps and yet it never went above 200mbps.... However, if you do a speed test on the google fiber app it shows 800+mbps. Seems shady to me and truthfully I see no difference in speed having moved from Cox. But alas, service providers never get a good review because their customer service and rates are never that great. Went in to return my prior residence equipment, process was quick and easy! Staff is friendly.

G Fiber makes it incredibly easy to sign up--but canceling is a nightmare. There is no option to cancel through the app, so you're forced to call. After calling to cancel, you're required to return the router to avoid being billed--unless your router model has been phased out. In my case, the representative assured me that my router was outdated and should be recycled. Despite following their instructions, I was charged twice after cancellation. When I called to dispute the charges, I was informed that my account had never been canceled and that I still needed to return the router--contradicting what I was told. Thankfully, I documented the call, including date and time, and the issue is now "escalated." Avoid this service. They are not BBB-accredited, and in my opinion, their tactics are unethical and obstructionist. Canceling should not feel like a trap. read more

I got a text at 8 am that I had a 10 am appt and that I would receive a link when tech was on the way. By 9:45 I had not received a link indicating they were on the way. To be on the safe side I started heading home to meet them . I got home and began texting to ask about when was the tech going to be heading over. . At 10:26 I got a call with google fiber claiming they had been here already and asking to reschedule . They said they could not come back til 2:30 pm. I said please have the tech come back if they had been here , they had a 30 minute window to arrive, they had a 2 hour window set aside to get the job done , they never gave notice they were on the way and I am here at home ( I'd left work to meet them) I was placed on hold twice , they said it was hard to reach the tech. By the time they answered they said they can come back at 2:30 since they had another appt. Well, what happened to my appt . I cannot wait for then to come back for a 2:30-4:30 pm time slot, I can't take 6 hours out of my day for this appt . Anyhow, looks like they decided to have a long lunch . This is my only day off until 7 days and I waited over a week for this. I asked to speak to a supervisor because I question if anyone ever even tried to come over today , but I'm not allowed to speak to a supervisor . I asked why didn't I ever get the notice that the tech was on the way as stated in this morning's text? The person on the phone said they are not aware of that link. Amazing and Easy!!! The new apartment complex I just moved into has google fiber as an option so I opted in to trying it out and wow it was quick efficient and beyond amazing customer service! My WiFi is quick which is needed since I work from home and always using some type of internet so I would definitely recommend using google fiber! This location is beautiful and convenient for those who live off this traffic circle set up. For the rest of us, it's a little annoying to find. Thankfully, I went at a time when there wasn't high traffic so I was able the take my time and slowly find it. The storefront is attractive and clear. Once inside, it is a bright and welcoming space with 4 distinct spots for people to relax and wait or meet with their consultant in. This helps to reinforce Covid safety measures. Speaking of Covid, they have plenty of masks and hand sanitizer available. Restroom is unavailable at this time. Now to the service part. My consultant was very thorough with explanations. He showed me step by step how I would be setting up my internet at home. He even proactively thought of what kind of questions I might have and addressed them there. I see some folks are giving reviews of the Google Fiber Service and not the location but I will give 5 stars to both. I've been a Fiber customer for years and have never had issues at either apartment complex I have lived in (both Irvine). Since I had an old network box they upgraded mine free and sent me one online but I was a little confused about hooking it up so I took a short drive over to the Google Fiber Space store with the box and Gina was awesome and gave me clear directions. I got home plugged it in, all was well and I have a nice new box. They even gave my sweet dog Bo and nice portable water bowl to keep him hydrated on our walks! read more

I switched to Google Fiber from Cox about two years ago. I had no complaints against Cox. I'd experience good service for over 10 years. Fiber was promised to be faster, less expensive and more reliable. Not so. I lose signal often, sometimes as much as 100s of times per day. Since I'm moving out in May, I'm not going back to Cox. If you live in the Portola Springs area and are considering Google Fiber - do your due diligence. I have been waiting on installation and there have been multiple, inexplicable delays. Examples: 'We need to postpone by 3 days as we haven't checked outside installation readiness" (this should've been factored in the original appointment schedule. Next, "The conduit is blocked, we need to delay by 5 days". And on it goes... I'm still waiting. Unless your property is already configured for Google Fiber, I suggest you reconsider. The customer service rep candidly told me that they are totally dependent on 3rd party contractors for the outside configuration. And, that these contractors can be less than reliable. If you are reliant on having a fixed date for Internet services, think twice before relying on Google. They can't commit. read more

Had 2 great experiences with Gina. I had to switch out equipment for work and needed a faster set up . She was so patient and very knowledgeable for someone who doesn't know anything about internet. She even drew a picture so I can follow along at home. The 2nd time she helped me was just a few minutes ago. I needed upgraded equipment and she helped me get set up and troubleshoot some problems . She stayed on the phone with me until my internet and extender were both online and working. I really appreciate how great her customer service was , her knowledge, and just that she went above and beyond for the customer. Thanks so much! I was so excited that our new apartment offered Google Fiber and was hopeful since it's a service by Google but their "1GB speed" barely gave us 200mbps on a good day... and went as low as 10mbps [while in the same room near the modem] when it's bad which we cannot deal with when working from home. On top of that, we're gamers and play late at night, you'd think the speed would be better with less people awake, nope, it's worse to the point that I lose connection some nights. I tried to call support to figure out why & see if there's something we can do to fix it... their support is nonexistent. Yo Google Fiber is the best in the internet biz. No Contracts. No data caps. No rental fees. 1TB of Google Drive storage with your plan. I've had the service for like 2 years and the price for the 1 gig plan hasn't changed once. Customer service at the Fiber Space is the best. Phone support could use some improvement but overall 100 times better than my last internet service provider. Only thing I need to tell other people is that the 1 gig or 2 gig internet plans that Google Fiber promotes is only if you have a device that can support those speeds. Also if you are wired into the router using a CAT5E you'll get close to 1 gig. So if you only use WiFi internet best you are going to get is around 100 megabits to 500 megabits and that's with any internet service provider. Educate yourself about Internet speeds, wired connections to routers, and what kind of devices you are using and that way you can get the best results with any internet service provider. read more

They don't deserve even a Single star, I switched to Google fiber because i though Google is quite big organization so i will get best quality and service. Since morning my Internet in such a low speed that i am not able to join my office meeting and also not able to access my system. I called their customer service and spent 1 hour they were just transferring call form one team to another, they give appointment of 1 day later the technician will come. so its like loss of pay for 2 days. The speed they commit the are not delivering at all. I am a new resident to The Irvine Company Apartments and having fast internet is very important. While the speed is not much of an issue, the customer service is one of the worst. I called with my girlfriend and was told to contact the management company about fixing non-operational ethernet ports and adding another port in our office. The management company said to contact Google Fiber. I contacted Google Fiber today and the representative said they cannot send a technician out even. I asked for a manager and got the same answer. I am starting to wonder why I went with Google Fiber other than the convenience of the store nearby. The solution: call a 3rd party provider to fix the non-operational wires for the free wireless router and add an additional port in the office. They don't even offer a 3rd party list of vendors. I am tempted to find a way under the apartment myself and try to fix it myself since these slags are inempt. Should I call Cox and ask if they would send out a technician to solve my connectivity issues. If so, I'll switch providers and keep posting terrible 1-star reviews all over the internet for Google Fiber. If Google Fiber wants to resolve the issue, I will happily remove the post. After receiving maybe over 100 mailer advertisements and having them stop by with food trucks every month - I figured I'd give google a shot vs. cox. I called to set up fiber and spoke with 2 unknowledgeable agents over the phone and they recommended that I go into the local Google Fiber store for assistance. I made my way there from Ladera Ranch and was welcomed in. After knowing that my new residence has google fiber they did a check, said that someone already has google fiber and they can't even help me. They said to come back and to keep checking. They're running a promo to give a google home mini with new service. I told them I want to sign up, want the mini and they denied both. They couldn't even put one on hold for me since they couldn't set me up. Unfortunately after requesting to speak with the manager, Victor finally came out and he came off as super insensitive and like he could care less - no no no no no is what he said. Google- why spend tens of thousands on advertising to gain market share and then provide crap customer service to a customer who's actually wanting your service. Train and allow your team to provide excellent customer service and to bend the rules if necessary(he could have put one of those minis on hold) since YOU couldn't set up the service due to your system not being designed to do so. They neglect to tell you that canceling your service any date after the first will require a full month payment, along with waiting an addition month for 99% of the payment to be refunded. They're essentially holding 70+ dollars hostage for 30+ days because their agents neglect to not only tell you these things when they ask for a cancellation date, but because their outdated system can't handle adjustments. read more

Talked and met with Carol. Very nice, fun to talk to, and helpful. They had a booth at my area, decided to stop by on the way home from work. I knew I was going to sign up when I got the flyer in the mail, so I immediately sealed the deal. The process took literally less than 5 minutes. It's actually kind of crazy. All the rep told me to do is to sign in with my Google account, set up a PIN, verify my payment method (which if you have any Google subscriptions, for example: YouTube TV, etc. then it is already setup), and I walked out with a FREE router. She didn't ask me for my ID, social security, or any other stuff Cox or any other internet provider would. No contract, no tax, no installation fee. Setting up is easy. Chances are, if you are able to sign up, then your house is already pre-configured for Google Fiber. All you have to do is to plug in the micro USB cable to the Fiber Jack. From there, just plug the router to the wall ethernet plug, and set up your WiFi. I got the 100Mbps plan for $50 flat. No tax. Just did a speed test and it goes a little over 100Mbps down and up. I know this may change as they probably don't have many users in the area, but for the price and convenience, I'll take that. Much better than dealing with Cox for sure. read more

Horrible internet service. Cannot handle 3 devices at once at suppose 200Mbps. WiFi signal is very weak does not reach past 25ft radius from modem. My previous ISP AT&T Uverse at a mere 30Mbps was sufficient for 3-5 devices at once. I do not believe that Google Fibers 4 star Yelp review is by real customers. Check out other message boards and they get 1-2 stars, consistently. read more

i would give them negative stars if i could. first when we got our service it was great, fast speed and all, but couple months down the line we noticed the service was becoming more slower and not reliable. we even switched out our router and everything did test runs, so after two years of service we moved out so cancelled our service, they bill us mid month so we already paid for a full month or service so cancelling at the end of the month, google said they would credit us back the remaining days for the month, then next month comes around and we get charged again! so not only did we NOT receive our refund, we got charged again! we called to get this sorted out and they still charged us for another month! why?! does not make sense! so google basically jipped us $100+ bucks! read more

Service takes over two weeks for them to install at Villas Fashion Island, where the entire complex is already pre-wired for fiber. Rude staff. We apparently "aren't allowed" to install it ourselves though they specifically advertise self install kits. All this bureaucracy apparently only known after payment. Been without internet other than phone hotspot for a week. Absolutely. Worse than just normal downtime from Comcast or ATT. FYI this is for internet only. We don't watch TV! read more

I haven't used the service yet, but based on my recent experience from calling in to picking up the equipment, everything has been sort way better than expected, almost surreal. Googles philosophy is to provide great, fast, reasonable priced service. Without having used the internet yet, so far they have surpassed those expectations. David from the over the phone setup has been great, and store employee was very thorough. I like the concept that the company is a conglomerate, but the service is simple & true. I recently dumped Cox 50 Mpbs internet at $72.99/mo (before taxes) for Google's 100 Mpbs internet at $50/mo, taxes and fees included. I found out I could either pick up my equipment from this location or have the item shipped. Being someone with zero patience and living in a world of instant gratification, I opted to visit this locale. Staff was super friendly, helpful and never once tried to upsell me. The first job I ever had, 20 years ago, was installing fiber networks. However, since everyone is an 'expert' at everyone else's job, I let them walk me through everything like a newbie, without being an arrogant egotistical man trying to claim I understood everything under the sun. Set up was quick and easy, they activate your account and you're out the door in no time. Keep it up Google and you'll have more business than you can handle shortly. read more

A few years ago, Me and my family were so excited to sign up for Google Fiber as soon as they completed the major installation work at the apartment complex where we live. The Installation Team & Security was extremely friendly, clean, and on point! This morning (Sunday) we had an experience that confirmed we made the right decision. The box stopped working (it happens) and when my husband called for help, the woman he talked to over the phone was really nice, helpful, and he could even hear a doggy on the other side, which made him smile because we are animal people! We were also very happy to hear that they were taking careful and proper Covid-19 (plus Variants) health and safety steps to ensure their staff and their customers were kept safe. We were shocked, in a good way, my husband was able to set up a same day appointment a few hours from the time he was on the phone. Our son is on Distance Learning and my husband is working from home, so it was really important that we were able to take care of it asap for tomorrow (Monday). Then, I received a call about 20-30 minutes later from the Service Representative (Joseph) that he is 10 minutes away from our location and asked me in a friendly tone if it was okay if the appointment was earlier. He could be here in 15 minutes. I answered, something like, "of course, that would be great! Thank you so much!" He arrived so quickly and followed Covid-19 safety precautions (we appreciate it) and was done in a flash! What?
