Just switched back to Cox from Direct TV....I left Cox years ago because of their business practice of continuously adding extra charges to their invoices after you contract with them. Wow, just received my bill in the mail from Cox Communications, and after two years of service, they just INCREASE your bill by $75 or more, then are completely rude in customer service when you try to speak with them about lowering the rate. Oh, and then they PRORATE you and charge you for the week's worth of services you were unknowingly paying for at a new much higher rate, and say "there's nothing we can do, sorry." I would never recommend Cox because of these poor customer service standards and will be happily switching over to a non-cable provider that has higher standards. I am a long time customer of Cox Cable and could not be more frustrated with the customer service staff. I have had several issues w/my service and was told that I would receive a credit once the issue was resolved but I had to call back to get the credit. After spending more time on the phone and talking to 2 people and getting disconnected once, I finally got what was promised to me. How can a company be this bad? What can we possibly do to not have to argue with the company to get better pricing every year when they give the best pricing to their new customers. I just called and they wouldnt talk to me because all my pins were changed, security number erased and apparently i set up a security question using my pets name! Wtf i never had a pet! What happened to Cox? They keep raising our rates, and the quality of their product is getting so bad that it frequently interrupts our TV watching with freezing and tiling of the screen. I called the customer loyalty department 2 months ago, and they lowered my bill to $213 (oh gee - thanks...). They told me this rate would be good for a year. Tech support solved a problem that has persisted for over five years. The Tech who answered recognized that the solution would require escalation but that it could be resolved. My service never performed to the advertised speed. I was forced to increase my bundle in an attempt to solve issue. I was upset that I lost my promotional pricing, but the speed was still not consistent enough for my needs. I was ultimately promised a refund on 3 separate occasions, but this never happened. This is based on my experience with the customer service people on the telephone. I have been a Cox customer for over three years now and have been looking to cut down on some of my services. I called to request to do so and I was speaking with a gentleman named Glen. I let him know that I wanted to downgrade my services at which time he completely began to obsessively question me on why I wanted to downgrade my services, and told me what a poor choice I was making, and be completely unhelpful. I voiced to him that I did not feel like being interrogated at which time he became much more aggressive with me telling me he was not transferring me to supervisor that he was canceling all of my services. I literally had to argue with him for five minutes in order to get him to transfer me to his supervisor. Finally when I spoke to her she was helpful in helping me with my problem and found a nice solution for me however she completely disregarded his behavior and made me feel like I was the one who was acting inappropriately. When I was speaking to Glenn he told me that Cox was my only provider in my area and that basically I was screwed if I didn't decide to keep them. I have never had such horrible customer service in my entire life. He is right Cox is the only provider in my area and that is truly unfortunate that I have to be stuck with them. I would not recommend cox to anybody for any reason they are absolutely horrible. read more

COX is a horrible TV/Internet/phone service. They raise the monthly rates every month...If you call them, they lower the rate for 1 month only to raise the rate back to the overpriced rate the very next month. If possible, go with another provider and hopefully COX will price themselves out of business. read more

Believe all the negative reviews you see! Cox is absolutely horrible and they couldn't care less what their customer base has to say. Most major companies review sites like Yelp to make sure they are servicing the community. Cox obviously has zero interest in customer service or apparently their products and services either. I have business telephone service and internet. I'm being charged $25.00 per month just to keep my previous numbers. This was never mentioned when they set up the account because I would have just used new numbers. They also won't allow you to cancel that portion of the service without paying a huge termination fee. My experience with the high speed internet and email service is awful. Constant outages and intermittent service. My best guess is that the only reason they have any customers is from locked in contracts. Counting the days to cancel my service. read more

These people are crooks!!! They promise you a monthly service fee then raise it without even telling you. I have spent hours of my time on the phone with their representatives who insult your intelligence and don't have any resolutions. then after an hour you finally get to talk to a manager and then they just disconnect you then you have to start all over again so I finally went down to the Cox communication store in Irvine where they had helped me before when I couldn't get this solved over the phone . Few weeks ago I canceled my TV and I've been waiting on them to send me a return package for the setup box and still haven't received anything. There are no minus stars so I am stuck with this one. We have been a customer for 34 years which makes no difference to Cox. Our phone has been out of order for 5 days. The 1st technician didn't show up in the allotted time so we waited a day to get the next technician. He diagnosed the problem as a burned part in the box on the street. It still smelled of smoke when he opened up. He said a maintenance crew would show up in 24 hours. Apparently the possible hazard was not important to them because 48 hours later they still have not shown. Now we are told that it will be 24 to 48 hours (workdays) until they show up. Every time we call we get a different answer but never an apology or a sign that they care about our loyalty. Now I am on hold for a supervisor. We have had it! read more

Truly, Cox deserves 0 stars but unfortunately that is not an option on Yelp. What boggles the mind is that Cox does not have a true appreciation of how customers view them, and that an average of 1 start review does not raise a 5 star alarm with their executive leadership. Where should I start; we signed up for a residential service with a little twist (needed a static IP), the original order disappeared or something, after 2 weeks on second try we finally got our service up and running, thanks to my husband who is a CIO with multiple Cisco and Microsoft certs otherwise we would have never gotten the line configured properly. Now I had no illusions about Cox services, we had to deal with their business service division for 15 years prior and it has been nothing but an uphill battle of bad service delivery, substandard engineering, and awful customer service. Anyways, I don't want to bore you about how Cox raised the price of our service by 33% without communicating the change violating the terms of our contract, or how they have continued to bill one of my client 3 years for internet services after the business has moved to another suite, cashing in over $30,000 in bogus billing, I can only second a previous reviewer's opinion who said that if Satan would have a corporation it would be called Cox Communication. read more

To say I am dissatisfied with my service would probably qualify as the biggest understatement in History. I pay for 200 Mb per second download speed on my home Internet. That is the fastest available speed to me in my home and I pay a pretty penny for it. I have spent two days on the phone to no avail and finally today my Internet speed went from 30 Mb per second to 15 Mb per second and now finally I am writing this review downloading at 1.5 Mb per second no less than 125 times the speed it should be. It is not my router it is not my modem it is the service itself which is consistently awful and unreliable. There are no direct competitors in my area so the service is completely monopolized and this is the extent of my abilities to do something about it. If you have the ability to use another service provider besides Cox then I would absolutely recommend that regardless of who that competitor is. read more

I have been in customer service for over 30 years, primarily in the call center business, and I fully believe Cox still only exists because there is no competition in our area. Just called to have a technician come out with a new cable box since we have to reset ours daily. Shows don't record. On Demand doesn't work. Stations are constantly not available. Finally decided to call and ask for a new box and was told after setting up the appointment for tomorrow that I needed to call back in the morning to make sure it doesn't get cancelled because "the system" says it's just an outage in our area. I have to call back to make sure it doesn't get cancelled? When I asked for a supervisor to ensure that someone comes out, I was told none were available and I could get a call back within 24 hours. So now I'll just reset my box a few more times today, cross my fingers that I can access On Demand later and hope someone from Cox actually cares enough to help. Oh and just in case you get the chance to do a survey, don't bother saying yes to have someone contact you about the bad service, because no one will. Way over priced in today's technology market. My bill was up to $235/month (Bronze level, no HBO, Showtime, etc) with continuing less content, but new customers could pay $99/month for two years,. Tried to negotiate with them. I was even willing to pay $135/month for same service as those at $99/month. More and more hispanic channels....I don't speak spanish. More and more sports channels...unless equestrian, olympics or super bowl just not interested. Much better content can be accessed for free through a Roku device or a monthly subscription to Netflix. Also all the channels I watch are accessible through Roku or my Smart Samsung TV. Enjoy documentaries and want to watch them on your timeline. Last night I watched a great one called Unbridled 5 of 5 stars on Netflix. Netflix costs $9.99/month for so much more and better content and channels. Cox get on board! In late November I called them and was able to get my Cable/Internet/Telephone bill down to $135 in Orange County but it was with much less content than what they were offering new customers with a 2 year contract at $99/month. I called today still willing to pay $135 per month but asking for the same cable content/channels as new customers at $99 per month. They would not budge. So I told them that I was dropping the Cable portion. The customer service rep. than comes back and tells me I would have to pay $119 per month for what I am currently paying $89/month pre- bundle discount. Can you believe it? They wanted me to pay $30 per month more, which is $360 per year more than what I am paying. Well it was the straw that broke the camels back. I cancelled my Cable services and requested I speak with the supervisor. The supervisor magically was able to get the price of my internet & phone to remain at $89 per month. I anticipate in the near future I will be paying less for those services as I drop Cox Communication and move to another internet/home phone provider. The supervisor proceeded to tell me that they will be having a rate increase in the near future so don't be surprised if my bill goes up. Well Cox don't be surprised when you file Bankruptcy. read more

I have been a Cox client since I moved into my apartment in Tustin in July of this year and I have had NOTHING but problems from day one. I have emailed and emailed and emailed the representative for my complex, Greg Leather, and he has NEVER responded to my inquiries and/or issues. What kind of customer service is that??? Their lack of concern for their customers is OUTRAGEOUS and quite simply SUCKS. I pay over $130 a month for service that is CONSTANTLY disrupted, I mean who wants to watch a football game or tv show when the sound constantly goes in and out and the picture continues to go out as well. A really nice service technician did come out and try to fix the problem but unfortunately, the problem persists. I have no choice but to sit and remain a completely DISSATISFIED customer as I am unaware of any other cable/internet options in my area. I'm not sure how the Cox folks can feel good about themselves when the service they provide is beyond TERRIBLE. All that matters to Cox is getting your check every month. Internet speed goes up and down (usually down) throughout the day. Cable TV freezes frequently. Dealing with their customer service is the ultimate nightmare. We made a large overpayment due to an online bill pay error. We immediately notified Cox and they promised to refund within 15 days. We objected to the delay and they agree to put a rush on it. 15 days later we haven't received the refund and they are telling us that they can process it in TEN WEEKS!! Wonder what they would do if we didn't pay their bill for 10 weeks? All recent reviews are in agreement with this assessment. I would rate Cox at negative 10 stars if I could. Cox has provided me with (if I can even say that) with the absolute most hideous internet service I've ever encountered. I mean it BLOWS!!!!! Whatever you do in this world, do not subscribe to their service if you do not want endless frustration. Get anything else but Cox if it is available in your area. For about 4 weeks now since I've had this service, often my web pages are "trying to open" at speeds worse than dial-up used to. That arrow goes round and round and round. My network also sporadically disconnects anywhere from a period of 2 hours to as much as every few minutes at times. I have disconnected / reconnected to the network countless times; unplugged, re-plugged my modem in, restarted my computer over and over again; had a Tech out who changed the splitter last weekend and said that would correct the problem, which it didn't; reset the modem today via phone instructions - and now my printer won't recognize my password. I now have no printer, limited internet service and I'm told I have to wait until next weekend (so I don't need to take off time from work) for another Tech to come out to service my router or bring it in to change it because I rent it - not own it. This sounds exactly like the problems Dan M is having and others who have written here. Cox is a a scam. They charge exorbitant fees, provide refurbished Chinese routers that don't work and pitch that you can upgrade at every service call to try to get you to spend more on there garbage service. I also was not provided with equal services on both TV's. It's a scaled down version with limited channel selections on my second TV. I've been patient but I've now had it. I'm going to cancel their service and go to the Better Business Bureau with my complaint. read more

Not sure how to give more than 1 star when I have to shut off my modem few times a night to get basic internet service. They suck. When I called them, they said they would charge $75 if it's the equipment problem. Well I had no problem with my modem when I was with Time Warner, and Cox says my modem is compatible, so what's up with that. read more

I wish i had checked yelp reviews first before taking cox connection. So many people have given 1 star. Cox product and customer services are really bad. First of all their internet is so poor and their tactics to sign up customers without disclosing the full details is regretful. They signed me up for 12 months giving xyz rate, but didn't disclose that the rate after 12 months will be more than double. I had to dig into my account to find that out. Then they didn't disclose the fact that it is a contract for 12 months and will have early termination fee. At the time of cancellation, they said you owe $xxx amount as the contract termination penalty fee. When I asked them why it wasn't mentioned at the time of signing up, they said, oh it is always there on our website terms and conditions and you can search for it in on our website search bar...Really....Their customer service is waste of time. While cancelling they started tactics to sell me other options, again without disclosing what rate I would've to pay after xyz months and without understanding why I'm cancelling in the first place. Also, after joining cox, they'll bill you unnecessary charges and you can keep calling them every day wasting your work hours and after multiple days of hassle they'll accept the mistake and reverse charges, but guess what.....same charges will again appear in next month bill, like magic. I just got Cox bronze bundle $99.99 / mt which included an extra $9.99 for phone FCC fees monthly. When I called them after the first 10 days of service and wanted to downgrade to the Contour TV/Internet only for $89.99, I was told I was on a promotion price and if i downgraded, I would lose the promotion and the new price for just TV/Internet would be $164 / mt and not $89.99 / mt!!! I was so pissed as SALES lied to me and told when I got service that I had 30 days to downgrade/upgrade if I was not happy. Nobody told me I would lose my promotion bundle and have to pay extra. Now I am stuck with phone and HBO since I do not need it?? I have read countless of issues and bad customer service with Cox but there is nobody else in Foothill Ranch I could use and I feel Cox is screwing with its new customers. read more
