Terrible customer service. The technicians are usually helpful but the customer service people are terrible. They DO NOTHING FOR YOU. I have been a COX customer for way to long. Time and again I find my internet speed is much much less than what is promised in the plan I am paying for. Again, I verified with the COX technician today, the speed I am suppose to be receiving with the plan I am paying for. (150mbps download and 10 upload). But I rarely receive anything near that. See the photo of my internet speed test attached. My household has two users. So at most we are streaming 2 devices at one time. We are not overloading the demand by far. In addition even though we are in the farthest south community in Orange County we are being routed to an LA server....meaning huge increases in legacy variations as well. I know that remote devices and distance to the modem/router have an effect....but not this effect. I wanted to share this information with you, as all should know that although COX will charge for high speed.....this is the service that COX is delivering. Technician came to hook up 2 coax cable, charged $60 for it. He left after 3 min of work. Cox refuse to believe that it wasn't a modem relocation. We have video recording to prove it wasn't a modem relocation. The technician himself noted that it wasn't and said he will update the notes so we don't get charged. Internet Service Provider in Irvine. I am living in Woodbridge, and I am currently with Cox , and things were going fine until their outage on March 20th, ever since then, my Internet has been slow, and inconsistent. I work from home and it is critical to have fast and reliable high speed internet. I have spent nearly the last 2 weeks on the phone with technical support. Usually the Internet works, but Lately it is so I consistent. I'm so annoyed that I always have an insanely high bill because I opted for the high speed, and the Internet is constantly dropping now. I literally can't wait for google to come in with fiber optics. This is a complete monopoly, we don't even have the option to go anywhere else. This is absolute rubbish. This internet is the worst and they've monopolized my area so I have no choice but to stay with them as a provider. I pay for the streaming / gaming rate which is supposed to be super fast and I don't game at all. I literally just use the internet for my 2 smart tv's and rarely 1 laptop for homework. Yet, my internet is CRAP. It is ALWAYS buffering. It always gets disconnected from the network. It's insanely frustrating and they never have a solution or fix it, just excuses. I live in Lake Forest Area (calling center goes to 949-240-1212) On 06/26/2019, I called to try to lower our CableTV+ Internet Monthly Fee (was $204.12). I spoke w/ a rep named Tracy(or Tracie), after at least 40 min of waiting & bargaining (this of course IS a normal routine once the promotion expired, so no complaint there), she said the lowest she could offer is $159/mo (contract for 1 yr & without lowering our internet to a slower tier), she said I could take some time to think as the offer is good until 7/8, because our DVR box rental is expiring and they would not be able to renew that discount after 7/8. So I confirmed that if i call back by 7/8, I do NOT have to go through this gruesome bargaining process again and she firmly confirmed. When I called back on 7/8, the rep (Josie)said the deal is now $166/mo & she didn't see the $159 in our working folder. I tried to explain and this went back & forth for some time so I requested to speak to a supervisor/manager, and she said the wait time will be 30-40 min. I waited for about 20+ min, finally spoke with a Supervisor named Crystal (Employee ID: B41000), Crystal said the lowest price is now $174/mo. I asked her to honor the $159 that was promised to me but she refused. She said because my DVR box rental discount is expiring the next day, and she could not renew that (this was contrary to the 6/26 conversation so I told her about the agreement on 6/26 and asked her to go back & check the recording and she said, "No, you were mis-quoted"). I asked to file a complaint, she said there was no one else there. Her attitude was rude and impatient throughout. I don't mind the bargaining and wasting time after all these years being a loyal customer (it's sad because i really should), but what bothered me the most was their dishonesty! Cox internet used to be great; however, recently it continually drops during the day. Support is completely useless and try to blame the modem or router. Last time I called in they had no idea our whole neighborhood was down and still tried to blame my modem. If. I've been a Cox customer for many years and was talked into the landline, Internet and TV bundle which supposedly is a money saver. Typically, the bill inches up by about $5 every month, for no discernible reason that is every explained to customers. The TV package was costing me about $200 a month. This month with no explanation the cost jumped to $230 and most of my discounts were removed. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Cox and they did almost nothing for me. Time to cut the cord! I get 40mbps with data capped at 1TB for 40 bucks a month. One year later, the price goes up because it's not promotional anymore. Cool. Now i'm paying 80 bucks for the same internet plan. Well, I accidentally go over my data cap once because I stream youtube and netflix for my family exclusively. Over $100 was added in surcharges. Okay, my fault. How much for the unlimited data plan? 40 more dollars on top of the 80 I am now paying. Cool, $120 a month for 40mbps. Well I'm moving and the area I'm moving to has a nice little package for $45 a month. No data caps...and 100mbps. That is way more like it. Cox is a rip off, they know it. They're really holding on to the few people that truly need their service because once 5G takes off in a couple of years their days are numbered and we can live without cable companies. They tell me the appointment was set for the 14th of this month (???!!!!) I just moved in, and I need internet for work. Makes PLENTY of sense right? He tells me soonest a tech can come was Monday. I need internet to work this weekend. He said my only option was to go into store to pickup the equipment to install myself. I came home. 3 different locations in my unit I tried and none worked. I called again and automated system asked me to confirm a number which was not mine. Then it transferred me to another line which prompted me for my cell phone number to verify account. Entered number and it said there was no account for this number. Had to hang up and call over again. Was on hold for an hour before someone got on to help me. He says in his system. Today was the first time I ever called them to setup service (I have phone record and email with their service ID in it to prove I contacted them that day). THEN he proceeds to tell me about ANOTHER service to buy into which would cover all technical service needs and equipment charges? YOU CANT EVEN GET SOMEONE to come to their appointment on time? Then he proceeds to tell me that I was going to be charged for the install indicating first guy on 26th was not telling the truth. And that if he sent a tech out to fix the issue of it not connecting they would also possibly charge me an additional $20 on top of a tech service fee...... I almost cried. I've been on the phone all day today with them and my insurance who was having system issues. Terrible service... You pay for "upto" service because they cant actually provide the service you pay for.. we pay for 500 up and i think 30 down... We get at best 98% of the time 50up 2 down and up in the 1000s latency.. We uplugged every device in the house except 1 computer no other wifi devices and 50upload 2download... You pay someone to come out and check the signal.. its the same and their excuse is.. "oh there may be an outage" a 5yr outage in this case then.. and the other "oh it seems you have too many devices" again every device in the house unplugged google wifi shows only 1 device.. I have visited 6771 Quail Hill Pkwy. Irvine, CA 92603 location last month. I wanted to return my COX Tv. They said that if I return it my monthly payment going to increase. They said I have a promotional rate of up to 2 years. And This month I received my bill $37 more. I contacted customer service and explain the situation. The customer representative was worse than the actual Cox Rep. in the store. They "DO NOT CARE" about customer's problems at all!!! Please stay away from them. I am absolutely sick of coming in here every month or calling because my bill has magically increased again without any explanation or notice. Cox is the most unethical company that I have ever dealt with. The customer service is abysmal. Their billing practices are nothing less than criminal. As soon as Verizon comes out with 5G or Google has an alternative I am packing up my equipment and brining in in and I hope everyone else does as well. I have had Cox for roughly 3ish years. Everything worked fine initially. I was paying a little bit over $100, which was sounded reasonable enough for the many channels + HBO and wifi at around 50mbps. What I was not told was that the company has an apparent monopoly where I live, and no matter how fast I get my wifi, the internet still switches to a DSL type with a maximum speed of 25mbps. At the same time, the router they gave me was on a recall and has kept failing me and they refuse to give me a proper router. There were incremental bumps in the cost but nothing too crazy until today when I realized I was paying closer to $500 a month for horrible internet and cable. It took me two tries and over an hour of talking to someone on the phone with the company and they refused to lower my cost unless I added all sorts of completely unnecessary services such as alarms, cameras, smart bulbs, etc. and even then, the cost is too much for what I get. They told me to call again in two years to talk about changing my plan again and said i could cancel for free in 30 days or spend an insane amount of money to cancel. But hey---I can at least keep all of the equipment? read more

I moved from Denver where I had Comcast/Xfinity for nearly 20 years, sure there has been an outage or two in that time, but they fixed it quickly and automatically provided a refund on my bill. I moved to Irvine about 18 months ago, and COX has a monopoly in Woodridge, and they know it, the service is slow, and spotty at best. My first sign of issues, they blamed my router, even though it worked for years, so I purchased a new $250 router to avoid their $15 per month rental fee. As I figured that I may have them for years, and it would be cheaper to buy one outright... Of course that did not fix the issue. So I had to sign up for their care program at $10 per month for 3 months, which they agreed to refund, as good will for the issues I was having. They sent out a tech who did some tests and found that the there was a line issue outside of the house and fixed it.. He informed me they are suppose to record every issue as a "Customer" issue to charge the fee, but in this case it was clearly a Cox issue.. I had to call them SEVERAL times to get the $30 credit that was promised because it was not documented on my account, finally someone agreed because I had been without internet for a while.. Since then my Internet has "working" slowly with freezes and outages.. but today 6/7/22 they had a 5-6hour outage.. and now my service is not coming up after the outage.. they of course want to schedule someone to come out for a $75 service fee.. Even though it was "working"prior to the outage.. I am so fed up with this company I am considering moving to an area where I can get Google Fiber or other service.. I am really hoping we get a 5G provider soon. read more

Here is my second review: ZERO STARS. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS. This is what they have done for me in the past few days. - I spoke with two people before. I was offered $154.48 for cable, internet, and unnecessary services and they were supposed to come to my house this weekend between 8am - 10am. - the next day, there was no record of any of this. I was given the run around by over 5 people and then they RAISED my current rate of simple cable/internet to nearly $300/month. Finally someone said that they would "launch an investigation" but I never heard back. I tried to file a complaint over the guy who made the agreement with me, which I felt was just brushed off. Also to mention, no one at the company could tell me what was happening and also could not even find the notes to my files. - today, I spoke with someone who I felt was also giving me the runaround and got my bill down by $55, but with the horrible internet service, I am still over paying and they refused to do much else to help me. TL;DR I am probably going to cancel everything within 30 days so I do not have to pay an insane penalty, and none of their current and future customers should be subject to these insane prices. read more

Does Cox even have a supervisor to read these reviews? Are they geuinely concerned about providing excellent customer service or is it an advertising strategy to get you to sign on for services? I am a new customer and to be honest I would rather do without their services than spend hours being transferred and disconnected by their various teams. It's a shame that they monopolize the market so most customers are left with little choice. We subscribed to their services 3 weeks ago. They advertised their package deals at one price but when you get the actual bill it's 30.00 more in the name of taxes and surcharges. (Complete BS) Our brand new TV sporadically shows vertical & blurry lines . We had 2 tech teams come out and the last technician swore the brand new TV was bad. Our original TV was oversized so we had to rent a Uhaul to take it back to the store. We purchased another TV and guess what the lines are still there. We spent $40.00 to return a perfectly new TV, purchased another one, paid a second set of shipping costs because Cox Cable has no idea what they're doing. So the tech comes out again and claims that's the best reception we can get because Cox is unable to keep up with the "high end technology" in the newer televisions. Say what? You're charging me close to $200.00 a month for shitty service and you know it's shitty service but charge us anyway? We were also advised to add an international calling plan at the beginning of the service because we make lots of international calls. The rep. indicated the calls were unlimited but that was incorrect again. You have to pay for the package and a supposedly low cost per minute which they swear is the best rate. That is also BS because I have cheaper international plans installed on my cell. We attempted to remove the international package plan and that resulted in a 2 hour hold with Cox Cable reps. because they kept disconnecting my phone line while removing that add on package even though one had nothing to do with the next. They also billed me for a second DVR box which we don't have and that took 3 calls to rectify. Cox your service needs work big time. This is not the way to treat customers that pay a steep price for shitty service. You deserve ZERO stars. read more

Ridiculous. I hate, hate, hate cox cable. We were signed a contract with one of the the leasing agencies and were forced into using cox cable as our service provider. 1, upon install the tech person just plugged everything in and left before it was properly installed. Even stating he gets paid for installing quickly and the more installs the more $$$ he makes. So we had to have 2 more tech support people visit before realizing they needed to access the media closet in our building... 2, since installing we've unplugged our phone since we do not ever use the landline but somehow telemarketers have called repeatedly from the minute the phone line was installed. Thanks Cox. 3, the internet chooses when it wants to work, despite having every speed and capacity upgrade possible. I've called in repeatedly but I'm routinely told "everything looks good on our end" but when I'm on the phone trying to run speed test the internet buffers for minutes at a time. 4, if you need a technician to visit you for a service that is NOT working there is a $75 fee from Cox to send someone to your home. Don't get suckered in. Stay far, far away from Cox Cable. This is the worst service I've ever had, in 4 major cities in 3 different states. Choose anyone but Cox. read more

If I could give a negative score I would. 1. Ordered new Internet. I was told the modem had to be shipped and that so could not pick it up. 2. Waiting on modem that never arrived. I was told it was a day late. 3. Modem never arrives. I just want a shipment/ tracking number. After 2 hours on the phone/chat- they have no clue what I am talking about. No record of my order. So I send a photo of the email they had sent me. I am told to go to my local store which is closed that day bc it is Sunday. 4. Call from work on Monday. This 4th person tells me to pay $50 to ship the equipment. My order is on hold!!! I have never been contacted though I am on my 4th time contacting them. I told her I did not trust paying for anything bc I don't know why they are for the first time asking for a payment. Each time I have been told something different. I would have paid the first day had I known. I politely ask to speak to the supervisor. I am connected with someone. I ask if she is the supervisor. She says no and hung up!!!!! Now I get to find a local store and try to figure it out there. I have spent hours, hours going through the phone chain, chat.
