If I could give a negative score I would. 1. Ordered new Internet. I was told the modem had to be shipped and that so could not pick it up. 2. Waiting on modem that never arrived. I was told it was a day late. 3. Modem never arrives. I just want a shipment/ tracking number. After 2 hours on the phone/chat- they have no clue what I am talking about. No record of my order. So I send a photo of the email they had sent me. I am told to go to my local store which is closed that day bc it is Sunday. 4. Call from work on Monday. This 4th person tells me to pay $50 to ship the equipment. My order is on hold!!! I have never been contacted though I am on my 4th time contacting them. I told her I did not trust paying for anything bc I don't know why they are for the first time asking for a payment. Each time I have been told something different. I would have paid the first day had I known. I politely ask to speak to the supervisor. I am connected with someone. I ask if she is the supervisor. She says no and hung up!!!!! Now I get to find a local store and try to figure it out there. I have spent hours, hours going through the phone chain, chat. Absolutely worse customers service that I have ever experienced in my life! I called 5 times today and spoke to Richard and Vanessa his manager with badge ID 24991. I was on the account as a secondary user and was added by my sweetheart 3 times. We were then transferred to the loyalty department that would argue that I was not on the account and back in the general queue waiting. 2 hours later we finally talked to Shea from the loyalty department who could not find a better deal than $76.99 compared to the $83.99 we were charged (from $74.99) with the original price of $59.99 for 150 Preferred plan. She was not able to do it retroactively and could not find a better deal. 2 hours of aggravation for a $7 saving... Cox has the monopoly in my area in Irvine and can get away with whatever pricing or increase of prices that they wish with the worse customer service. I'm in the room next to the router and I can't even stream Netflix, and this is with me having the best internet possible. Liar!!! They told me that they cancelled TV and phone services from my account when I return to cable box on 11/20/2017. Cox still add the TV and phone charges with my internet statement. I called the customer service, they told me that these services are still activate. The customer service told me that I need to call the customer service when I cancel these. My wife was forced to take a month off to take care of our son for a month due to lack of child care. I called every creditor we owed money to to make arrangements for payments and Cox was the only company unwilling to work with us and make future payment arrangements. Tldr: Garbage customer service. Hung up on me twice and never called back. I got disconnected from an online meeting and no one can help answer what happened or resolve my issue. Internet is always dropping connections. Tech support has no real IT background. It's always some high school drop out who can't communicate properly. There are monthly outages and ridiculous data caps that serve zero purpose other than to gouge customers who sign up for any TV or video streaming services instead of paying for Cox's overpriced TV packages. If the Irvine Google Fiber rollout every hits my neighborhood or whenever home 5G is ready, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Cox could work to keep their existing customers happy with reasonable, consumer friendly offerings, but they've instead chosen to bleed their current customer base out for as long as possible until everyone can leave them. DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH COX. THEY WILL PULL A HARD CREDIT HIT ON YOUR ACCOUNT. My fiance and I opened an account with Cox, and Cox did a hard pull on our credit. Initially, we thought it would be a soft pull as it would be unreasonable to do a hard pull because it was an application for utility, and not for credit. We had Spectrum and Comcast before and they just provided us with service without a credit check. We contacted Cox and their customer service said that they would do an investigation but we never heard back from them. We decided to call 2 months later and they did not do anything. They are lying and are very manipulative. They have a monopoly in Irvine, which is extremely scary as they are billing us without providing any real service. One of the worst customer service I had ever encountered. My home internet was out for three days. When I called ( twentieth call in three days) COX customer service representative said that home internet service is a LUXURY. COX does not consider these to be urgent issues. They allocate service agents only when they are available. I was extremely disappointed that they don't consider issues with residential accounts a priority despite the fact that several of us work from home these days. Terrible dishonest run from them. My daughter is a UCI student living in a condo. I got her cable just to be sure she had good internet for finals etc. I spent hours online with "customer service" when the modem/routers I purchased each failed to connect. They blamed Netgear, so there went hours online with Netgear as well. Finally I spoke with the building manager (large complex) who said they needed to come out and connect the cable. He said they do it all the time ... usually no charge, but if the try to charge you just tell them you're going to switch to AT&T and they will do it for free. (And yes, I was going to switch to AT&T because I don't like being treated worse than everyone else around me. Anyway, the guy came out, and connected the cable in minutes telling me there would be no charge. A month later? $100 charge. I contacted "customer service" again. They asked "did he specifically write in his notes there would be no charge" as if I know, or even know to ask if he "documented his file." Oh well says "customer service ... the charge still stands." Terrible service. Cox apparently doesn't know the days of cable monopolies are over. I'm going to recoup my $100 "involuntary investment" and switch to any other company. Can't wait to see Cox go the way of MySpace. Pathetic. Trust me when I tell you ... go with another company. Cox communications is the true definition of modern day robbery! They jack up the bill every few months and you can't do anything about it, because they have monopolized the OC area internet service so they know they you have no other choice but to stay with them and they get to steal from you legally! Even when you want to leave and cancel their service, they charge you $270 because they have you under contract (which we had no idea, no one ever told us when we started service with them)! If they allowed all of the cable companies to compete head-to-head within service areas, they would have to provide much better customer service and much better pricing. Went and bought a cable modem and router so that we no longer would have to rent the one we have from Cox. Cox requires you to call them in order to get your new equipment setup which just a ruse to take the opportunity to upsell you to whatever their latest bundle is. Our main goal in buying the cable modem was we no longer wanted to rent equipment that would probably paid for at least three times over in the past two years. Once you paid the cost of the damn equipment you should not have to continue paying rent for it. That's unethical as hell. So the first person I spoke to on the phone was unable to get my modem working but took the opportunity to spend an hour and a half on the phone with us trying to up-sell us to a television and internet package. Which conveniently included a DVR that we would have to rent. We told her in no uncertain terms that equipment rental was a deal-breaker on anything since the reason we were on the phone with her was to hook up the equipment we own and turn in the old equipment that we rented. She couldn't help us get our modem working. Which is bizarre because she was supposedly a technical support person. She escalated us up to what they call Tier 2, and 5 minutes later my modem was hooked up and working. Pro tip to all of the cable companies, when people call for technical support, it is not an opportunity to upsell. That pisses people off. When and if Google Fiber ever gets here, we will enthusiastically kick Cox to the curb. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. I have never dealt with a company that is this incompetent. It's been 2 weeks and I still can't get anyone to come out and set up my internet or tell me why they won't come. I called on a Sunday to have someone come out the following Saturday. That Saturday no one showed up. I called to ask why and was transferred to over 5 people and on hold for an hour before I was told that the guy who i originally called to set up the appointment hadn't actually booked it or sent the info in and the next appointment they had for me was 2 weeks out. I left a message to speak with someone about the situation as I partially work from home and internet is mandatory. I was guaranteed I would be called back within 24 hours. Over 48 hours later I got a voicemail saying that he had hoped to catch me before I left for work (I had specified I leave for work at 8am and he called at 10:30). He then told me that I should set it up at home myself and told me to call him back with questions. I called back but the number he gave me required an extension which he had not given me. I called and was transferred to 3 different people who all told me that they couldn't help me, nor were they able to reconnect me to the manager that had called me in the first place, before again telling me that all I could do was set up a new appointment for 2-3 weeks from now. I have never in my life dealt with a company where this many employees are completely incompetent at their jobs and unwilling to help the customer. Avoid using this company at all costs if you can they are an absolute nightmare and have made the move to my new home hell. read more
