We called about our Cox cable, which went down on Sunday morning early in the morning. First, they told us that it was our modem and that we needed to buy a new one. We bought a new modem. The new modem didn't work. Before they would send a technician out they said that they would charge us if it was internal and they sent a technician and they could not send someone out until Monday morning to fix it. The technician came out Monday morning and reinstalled something on the pole outside assuring us that it was a box from years ago that was analog and that the boxes were now digital. He then checked everything in the house and we thought it was working and when he left the Internet went out again. We called the company and they sent him back out, but could not give us a time as to when he would come so I was stuck at the house all day. He did not come until 6 o'clock. We were eating dinner and I have a 10 year old who is sick. The gentleman spent over an hour here and finally got the Internet working again and when he left it went off again about 20 minutes later. My husband then called Cox back and the representative had no idea how to help us. All he kept saying was that that he could send the technician out. We are very upset at the service that we are getting after years of using Cox, Internet, and cable. My husband begged them to come out over the weekend because he works from home and my daughter needs Wi-Fi for homework and tests. Cox representatives said they would put us on a priority list and two days later it is still not fixed. read more

Services got canceled 3 times by the system when it wasn't even connected yet. Techs didn't show up twice and missed work for 3 days. Spoke to a customer service MANAGER for 45 minutes and FINALLY got everything straightened out and was PROMISED my first month of service for FREE. Got an automated call about the bill being late. I'm sure anybody dealing with Cox knows this but AVOID selecting them for your provider at all cost!! I am stuck in an apartment where they are the "only" provider so I have to deal with them, and here's what I deal with! I have been on the same plan for years, no specials and no increase notice and they tripled my bill!!! That's not completely straight yet but they are supposedly "working" on it!!! Every 2 months they change my service or fees and I have to spend more time on phones to get it corrected! I tried changing my system online and it got so messed up with their delays and incorrect programming it took 10 days to get back to just "screwed up," where it sits today!!! Once they turned EVERYTHING off two weeks prior to the date I requested to end services and it took two days to get it back on!!! They really are the worst run company and the absolutely the worst internet provider!!! Their service goes down all the time, I have to reboot 2-4 times a week and you never know what's going on!!! Can't believe I am saying this, but...I would prefer Comcast. I've been seeing all these commercials about how great Cox is, and was excited, until I actually got it. Internet is slow, phone call quality is low, caller ID costs extra, you need to dial a million numbers to get to one person...ugh. Internet quality is so bad that I can barely Skype with my overseas solider - not cool. Thankfully, Verizon is working on getting FIOS in my area. I cannot wait. I know this probably does not help anyone, because if you want cable, you have to use Cox in this area...but still. It feels good. For the most part, Cox Cable has always been fairly reliable, and this store has helped me save a bit of money with special offers and temporarially suspending service for extended vacations. This review isn't directed at the store but more so cox as a whole. Recently viewed their current pricing for Internet only just randomly. A long while ago I used cox and it was alright service for like 60 bucks Internet only for a couple years. Slow at times though. I just felt it was way too dirty of them for jacking up the price to like 250 dollars after 2 years for Internet only service, not even the highest tier at the time. Options they told me at the time were to pay more for more service or keep paying 250 bucks for the same internet service. Very dirty to increase it by over 200%. The service was not worth 250 AT ALL in any world or reality. Went with Verizon after that final dirty cox bill. Verizon did a 2 year thing as well but they didn't Jack up the price to over 200% plus. It's been at least 4 years now with Verizon. Looking at cox current pricing, I still wouldn't change back cause they will still probably Jack up the price by like 200% plus again. I just don't trust them and still don't even after looking at the pricing. read more

This rating is for Cox in general. This store location in Alexandria is the closet one to my house. No phone call or email when they were coming or they changed it. I originally asked for Thursday July 5th. Took off that day and now find out they actually scheduled on July 9 without letting me know. I had to called and asked when and I didn't see any rep today. They told me "sorry" and don't know who set it up and never notify and no note at all. I have two accounts with them at two different home, I'm so closed canceling it because of bad customer service/communication. BEWARE of Horrible service Cons: -OnDemand almost never works (like right now) -They're over priced -Half the time, the channels are unavailable and don't function -OnDemand selection is poor -To get the cable working I have to unplug the box and hope it works when I plug it back in -Simple channels like G4 and TV Land I would have to pay for to watch. I never had any problems with this store. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait, but they do have a login system for when they do get packed. When I went o return my equipment and close out my account upon my move, I was treated kindly and the process was smooth and relatively quick and simple. No hard sales tactics to try and get me to move the service with me, and come to think of it, I've never really experienced any hard sales tactics here, which makes for a much more pleasant experience. It is a little tricky to find, so be persistent and ignore your GPS. It is there, I promise. read more

We have been trying to transfer service to our new home for a week. An installer came out, installed the wrong equipment, channels we paid for were not included, the customer service rep "downgraded" our service instead of transferring service so now we have no DVR service, none of our premium channels - literally the only thing that is working is the internet. This company has wasted my entire day. We decided that the only thing worth our while is the internet service. We will be returning the cable boxes, the phone service will be ended, I am over the pure incompetence of this company. This review is mainly based on the customer service received. My boyfriend uses cox cable and needed to go to this location to purchase a new box. The service was prompt, the girl who signed us in was super friendly & pleasant, they have a flat screen playing sports in the background... oh yeah, and they passed around snacks to everyone waiting! What more could you want for going to a cable company??? Not the visit I was expecting. Based on my boyfriends experience with them, he has had a few miscommunications with the company where they charged for visits that were supposed to be free, but he ended up getting reimbursed after talking to the company and has not had any problem since. read more

Signed up for Cox using their Silver plan. Online the Monthly Bill was advertised as $79.99. Two pages before check-out the Monthly Bill was $85.99 because of some added taxes. Received first Monthly Bill and its $112 with all the hidden fees. The $85.99 amount is no where to be found on the Bill. Also, every time I log-in to my account online -- it switches my Billing to Paperless Bill without me doing so. Be Careful!!! P.S. The technician that came to our property was very miserable and told us that if we don't give at least 9/10 Star Review, Cox will consider that his installation was a failure. Here are some reasons Cox should be avoided like the plague, or the covid virus: 1. The internet plans are overpriced; 2. The connectivity is inconsistent. I've had to turn the router on and off at least once a week to reset to get consistent wifi coverage for about a day or two; 3. Their agents need to be trained about billing issues. I was told billing due dates are about a week earlier than the start of my billing period. I asked why and he could not explain. 4. Agents also need to be trained in customer service. When you decide to cut off the service, courteosness gets cut off too. especially if they can't convince you to stay on for a lower price and a much lower upload capacity. Bottom line - Cox sucks. DO NOT get Cox for your internet service. I worked for Cox for several years. I spent the last year of my employment with the company working at this retail location part-time while I finished up school. I have come in here about 3 times since I left the company. All three times I had an issue with the service provided by the rep in the retail center and they are the same issues I spent nearly all my time correcting as an employee of the company. Cox's service is not all that bad and quite frankly I have been quite happy with it for years. This review really is only about this particular retail location. Here goes. As stated earlier I have been here 3 times as a customer. Each time I came in to get 1) a DVR 2) an HD-DVR and 3) a regular HD box. I would ask the rep to write down what my monthly rate is, every single time the rep was off. For trip 1 I had to call the call center because the rep did not arrange the services on the box correctly. The rep was actually quite rude and just wanted to rush me out of the store. Trip 2 same thing, rude rep who wanted to get me out of there as fast as possible. This rep actually offered me a promotion on the HD-DVR telling me the HD was free for 3 months. After going to the website to look at how much HD normally is I realize COX DOSENT CHARGE EXTRA FOR HD SERVICE ANYMORE (they did when I worked there, an HD box was like $10 more than a normal box). So this rep offered me a promotion on something that was free? She couldnt of given me a DVR promo becaus I already had DVR, if I know that SHE should of. Trip 3, I come in to get a regular HD box, actually I had no problems here. 1 out of 3 guys, not very good odds. I have another complaint. When I asked if Cox had DVI cables no one knew what I was talking about. If you work for a cable company and dont know what a digital video interface is than you should look for another job. So really the problem about this place and other cable providers is that they put people who don't know what they are doing out there on the forefront of their company. Some of these customers that come into the retail centers I almost guarantee you will know far more about the services, installation and general methodology of modern audio, video and internet technologies than the employees representing the company. They really need to train a huge majority of there retail staff better (this includes many of the reps in the call center). read more

I have had bad customer service from Cox cable in the past and unfortunately am forced to use Cox again now due to lack of other cable services at my address. They are showing to be consistent in poor customer service and complete lack of professionalism. My installation appointment was scheduled for 10-12 pm, at 11:30 I received a call with no apology that the technician was running late and would likely arrive around 2:30 pm. At 5 pm I called again and was told the technician was in site at the residence before mine and would be at my house soon (??? No time estimate or apology). I cancelled and said this was a horrible way to treat new customers. I missed an entire day of work waiting for the technician and ended up with no cable at the end of the day. I called the customer service number. I wanted the Economy Package with the Sports Pak. Initially I was told that I needed the Advanced Package in order to access the Sports Pak, but an exception was being made. I was quoted a price of $38 over the phone. When I went to pick up my cable box I was told my monthly price would be roughly $80, not the $38 I was quoted. The reason? You can not get the Sports Pak with the Economy Package, but this is not what I was told over the phone. The representative, while polite, was inept navigating through the various screens on his PC and was struggling to give me any information on this mix up. After 35 min, I walked away and now I'm on the verge of ordering Direct TV. I am very disappointed. read more
