I get no where near the near the bandwidth I pay for every month. In fact, my up-speed is regularly under .15Mbps! Thats .15(!) and thats crap. My packet loss has had an avg of 20-some percent, too. Makes gaming or any sort of remote management impossible. The tech that made my original install smelled of sweat and pot and left ALL the cable wires and connection out and exposed in our trash roon...the cables hang down into the trash cans. I have been here twice..unwillingly. the first time i was behind on my bill and the man on the phone told me i had a certain day to pay. I went on that day to pay and my account was closed. The manager *i think* of the store within 5 minutes reopened my account, and settled my payment. This place has AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. I call them when I have issues instead of the stupid Cox hotline. They are very fast and knowledgeable. read more

Absolutely ridiculous, unprofessional and horrible customer service! It started out great. We were previous customers at our old home and wanted to transfer service. This was a week before our move to the new house. Andrew was very helpful in listening to our requirements and setting up the deal on our package for internet, phone and cable service. We did however repeat numerous times that we had just bought this new place and that the General Contractor had cut and cleaned up wires to provide a beautifully finished home. That said, we did not want the typical installation with stapled cable wires showing all over the baseboards and everywhere. So we asked for an initial technician to come take a look to tell us what would be required to obscure the wires as best as possible. The manager said that wasn't possible but the guys would come with our new boxes and the cabling to take care of everything the same day. So the move weekend arrives and the technician says that he can't do what we asked because it isn't the "standard installation" for today and he would need to get a quote from an electrician which took an extra 4 days. In the meantime, my electrician was still in the house finishing up lighting and could have run the cables himself a week ago before the move. Everything would have been ready for the move weekend! And no downtime in service would have occurred. At this point I'm entirely frustrated and just asked my electrician to run the cabling (at half the cost of Cox's I might add). That was Monday and here it is Friday and I still can't get Cox to reschedule my installation appointment (at this point quite simple and less involved than other "standard" installations). So now my appointment is the following Monday and will have been without internet or cable for more than 2 weeks. I repeat, absolutely ridiculous, unprofessional and horrible customer service! They really need to resolve the disconnect between their sales group and the technical group and stop giving customers the run around. Awful. They refuse to bill us, either electronically or by mail. They NEVER send us a bill, despite me complaining to them multiple times, but have no problem sending us LATE NOTICES and charging us late fees for bills that we never received. Unfortunately they are the only option available in our area. This is how they get away with this BS. Avoid if you can! read more

I am so disgusted with this company. A few days before I moved out of my apartment I called the Cox Customer Service to tell them I was moving and needed to disconnect my services. The support representative told me to bring all of my equipment EXCEPT the mini box. The representative told me that because of the arrangements with my condominium that I should leave the mini box there. I get to this store and the employee told me that I'm going to be charged for not bringing it in. And when I explained to him what the other service representative told me, he just shook his head and said that she shouldn't have said that and it doesn't matter and I'm going to be charged anyway. Really?? Talk about TERRIBLE customer service. He gave me a receipt for the other materials dropped off and waived me off like some annoying fly. This is a very bad company with poor taste. Absolutely the WORST internet service provider I have ever experienced. Our apartment complex, Huntington Gateway, forces us to use this internet service provider as our only option. We have had their premium, most expensive internet service for two month. It is the most inconsistent and poor speed connection I have ever experienced even when it is just one device. We had a technician come in and change the router and worked fine for a day then back to terrible speeds. We are ready to get out as soon as this month is done. STAY AWAY read more

Like another yelper previously said, I'd give this "business" a zero if I could. The service is AWFUL. I've been fighting them for years! Finally I got some bad Internet wires fixed behind my house, after ive been promised this for a YEAR. Obviously they didn't call and just showed up. Luckily i was home to let them in my backyard. Had to Leave an hour later for work...You'd think the problems would be over...nope.. I guess while fixing Internet line, they f'ed up the cable one. The "supervisor" on the phone said that I have to call their Internet department..isnt it the same company? Laury in the Cox store in Alexandria is amazing! Back story- I knew my pricing was expiring and contacted Cox via phone to renew my services. I ended up spending an HOUR on the phone with an incredibly pushy salesman who made me take extra services and didn't really lower my bill. (I had missed my date by a few weeks and think they intentionally kept me on phone to frustrate me.) I needed to pick up new equipment at the local store and was fortunate enough to get Laury to help me. She sensed my frustration & looked up my account. She performed magic as she was able to remove all the new, unnecessary services and lower my bill significantly since I have been a loyal Cox customer for years. She is the kind of customer service rep that companies should groom and reward. She is the reason I'm staying with Cox instead of switching to a competitor. I will also now exclusively deal with the local store instead of hoping to get the right department on the phone. read more

Long lines at this "store", even for the simplest transactions. Staff apologetic about the quality of their products and service, but in the end not particularly helpful. Expensive TV service. As soon as I can watch Nationals baseball without needing to do so via MASN cable programming, I'm getting rid of Cox cable TV. Everything else I watch I can stream much less expensively. read more

Absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. BAIT AND SWITCH tactics. They advertised their $79.99 bundle on television and in the newspaper -- I called them on the phone and arranged for installation (which is a whole other nightmare story in itself). My first $79.99 "bundle" bill was in excess of $160 and my second was in excess of $180. They don't respond to e-mail, snail mail, or phone calls so I am now forced to take them to Small Claims Court. I spoke with an acquaintance today, and this person is experiencing the exact same thing. My advice -- DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC. read more

My complaint is about cox in general, not necessarily this store. They use bait and switch tactics by lulling you in with a low price, then jacking the price up each year. This time they tried to raise my "triple play" by $50 per month. It's just not worth it. We don't have FIOs in our building, so I'm stuck with cable TV for reception. But I do have a choice on phone and internet, and am switching today. If the HD antenna pulled in more stations, it would have been goodbye to cable altogether. read more

I had to go in to the store to swap out boxes on 11/24/14 and I was dreading it - I guess it's still PTSD from previous experiences from Comcast and even Verizon. But it was the simplest and friendliest transaction I have ever had with a TV/Phone provider. Chris was friendly, genuine and thorough. I was thrilled when I moved to an area where I had another option to the providers listed above and Cox made setting up services easy with no drama and have not had a major problem. i have used cox for 25 years.. there was a time when they cared about their customers. in my place I can not get internet services anywhere but my living room. they keep the prices going up, but services go down. Monday after work I sit down to watch game of thrones.. the box goes out. I still have tv in my bedroom but no recording, that was to be fixed today ( 2days later ). I race home to meet the tech , he comes in changes both the boxes tells us the box will reset again because he is signed off the job. we thank him and he leaves.. but our boxes are resetting over and over for 20 mintes. I call cox on the phone for an hour plus again. they don't know whats wrong , they will have to send out another tech. but not til Friday..i am really mad now , no tv at all , if I want it fixed I have to take off work or wait another 2 days, but the best thing of all lmao. the boss at cox tells me in his house no one would miss the tv for 5 days... I just had COX service installed today and they had screwed up my order. I had spoken with a representative before moving into my apartment and was told to fax or email a copy of my lease. I emailed my lease information and was scheduled for service. Then I was told that because the previous tenant had a unpaid bill, I would have to go to a COX store and provide my lease and ID. Well, everything was cancelled. I went to the Kingstown location and informed them that I wanted the $99.99 Phone, internet and cable bundle and was told that it was entered in the computer and everything was set up. Well, needless to say when the nice technician had arrived to my home he only had the first cancelled service request which was the tv and internet, not the new request for all three. I had called the store and was directed to another department which I had to leave a message. It's not a good start. read more

If there was a zero score, this rating would be accurate; however I can only go as low as a 1-star rating. I will never step foot inside this Cox store again due to the malicious and rude behavior of the store supervisor. I went there to return 2-cable boxes/remotes, and due to their large size, I had them in a "clean" plastic bag. Eric, the self proclaimed store supervisor, did not greet me with a hello when I came to the counter; he said in a stern voice, "You need to take everything out the bag." OK, I did and he checked items in and said "done." I assumed I was finish, so I looked around office lobby for a trashcan to put plastic bag in myself, but there was not any in the office. I did see a large trashcan behind Eric and kindly asked him if he could please discard of the bag in his trashcan. Eric said, "We do not have any trashcans in this Cox office." I told him "I clearly see the large trashcan right behind you, please place the bag in that trashcan." Eric sternly said "No, you have to take your trash with you." I asked him when he could, please place bag in the trashcan behind him and started to walk away thinking our conversation was over. Eric yelled to me and said, "If you leave this bag on my counter, Cox Communication will charge your account for it and you will have to pay." I could not believe a Cox supervisor would yell at a customer and threaten them with a "bag disposal charge" on my account. I reported Eric to Cox Communication Regional Supervisory Division in Chesapeake, VA. This incident is currently under investigated by Cox Chesapeake office. read more
