I tried to switch to cox and made my order online to a cox salesperson. I ordered cable and internet. I was quoted a billing of $165 plus taxes not to exceed 200 dollars. After installation, I was billed $232. I called cox and after much back and forth I was told I would have to pay that or cancel service, that no one at cox would have offered me any $165 package, and that there was no other option but to pay the 232 dollar monthly charge or cancel. So, I have cancelled, realizing that cox does not care about what happened and has no intention of resolving this problem. Unbelievable! read more

Cox communications in a gainesville Florida provides awful internet and cable services, particularly to "older neighborhoods" where in lieu of fixing their systemic fiber network problems, Cox insists on doing "patch work" leaving customers with no service or extremely poor slow functioning services, which is essentially useless. As others have mentioned, Cox has a monopoly on this area, leaving essentially no other internet/cable tv options for the consumer. People pay hundreds of dollars per month for these ridiculously priced Cox packages, which is only rewarded with ongoing poor service, to include lack luster customer service and tech support. We're currently experiencing the most recent outage of multiple outages which have occurred each week for the past few months. The current outage has a resolution date estimated at 5 days out from today! Five DAYS. Do better Cox, you should be ashamed. We recently moved to Gainesville. Prior to buying our home, we called Cox 3 separate times and checked online to make sure that they had fiber available in our area. They lied to 3 separate people. After we bought the house and them being our only choice, they said no one can tell the difference between fiber and cable internet. This is false. The upload speed is unreasonably low and unstable. We now have to sell the house we just purchased and purchase another one in the area with a different internet company. My senior citizen cousin lives in Gainsville and called me yesterday in tears. After being without Internet for months, COX sent a technician to his house who yelled in his face that the box worked fine. They left leaving him without internet and TV and charged him for the call. He has also been billed for months without service. This tech never tried logging into the internet using my cousins laptop! The tech said my cousin's computer wasn't working since he didn't want to fix the internet issue. So my cousin took his computer to geek squad and paid to find out that "the computer worked fine and connected to the instore internet". My cousin paid another 75.00 to Geek Squad. MY cousin returned to the Gainsville office yesterday begging for them for the 4th time to help him. Again he was treated rudely and disrespectfully. My friend has a disability too. Still there was no attempt to fix the problem. Instead, they continued to argue with him and get in his face. They made no attempt to help him and he left feeling battered. In December of 2020, I started having trouble with my internet. I would get a message stating to check my connection. I'd have to shut down everything and reset. Reset internet and my Roku. This would go on for hours at a time. Fast forward to now, I'm still having to do it. Technicians would come out and say that they don't see a problem. It would work for a day and back to shutting down and me having to do this now for four hours nightly. Between 7pm and 9pm I'm having to contend with this. I don't think it's right I'm having to pay for service I'm not able to use. They said I needed more mbps, I increase and still have the same problem. Nothing is being resolved. I reset, they reset, we all reset. Nothing is working. You can't tell me everything is fine and it ain't. I had to get wifi extension otherwise I couldn't even watch or be on my phone unless I'm right there in front of this so called Panoramic wifi. Well it ain't Panoramic. Cause I couldn't get service in my kitchen or bedroom. This just isn't right. You want money fix the problem. I'm sure if I didn't pay you'd have no trouble turning it off. Then making me jump through hoops to get it back on. Almost five months of this issue is enough. I feel as if NO SERVICE NO PAY!!!!! The average number of times I'm transferred before someone helps me is 4. The last time I called I was transferred 10 times before I refused to be transferred again. I went into the Cox Solutions Store to sign up for internet service and was pleasantly surprised. After reading the reviews I was expecting it to be a nightmare but I was in and out in very quickly and without any stress. Andrew (blondish hair, cool beard) helped me out and totally made the experience easier than I expected. Dude totally should be the manager there with his skill and demeanor in helping people. I can't speak on the service just yet, but I will say it seems to work fine (18 hours after signing up). Bottom line- the store seems to be improving from previous ratings. read more

Cox Cable is the absolute WORST company I've ever had the misfortune of doing business with. It's a bad sign when you even try to log in to their website to pay your bill and their website over their "high speed Internet" takes approximately 5 minutes per click to resolve to the next page. When we first moved here, it took 3, count 'em, THREE different service people to come out to our place and get our two whole boxes working together the way they should. Then when we got the first bill, we still saw that they were overcharging us by adding a home phone line that we never asked for, and it took 2 months to get that off our bill. When the wind blows, our fantastic Internet service goes out. Every single week without fail, something on our cable system locks up, channels go missing, we can't access features - it's always something. How in the hell can we get away from these clowns? We can't - it's a monopoly. Even if we move to DirectTV, we have to get Internet from somewhere. If you want a model for how NOT to do business, Cox Cable is it. Instead of listening to me (the overcharged customer) during a chat, the individual went ahead on their end and did what I requested not be done. When this was accomplished this "individual" also disconnected my internet thereby ending the chat without correcting anything. Now if you would like to, again, run the gauntlet of automated steps to get back to tech support; what do you think that the odds are that you might actually get back to the "individual" that messed up in the first place? Gainesville needs to get Cox some competition. he bundle I had in St. Pete: basic phone, standard cable and the highest speed internet was $89. I can only get standard tv and medium speed internet and NO PHONE for that here. Plus the internet is constantly bugging--saying check your internet service because they must have too many of us on one branch to save them money. I'm considering DSL since they no longer require contracts and AT&T does have good service and getting Dish network for tv--had them years ago no problems and they're cheaper than Cox for more channels. I was charged $75 for cable installation in one room and the technician ended up damaging my air ducts under the house causing the a/c to quit working. I submitted a damage claim and was told someone would call in two days.... Two weeks went by and no call!! Customer service promised to escalate the matter and still no call and no answers. Called a fourth time and was told the same thing, it will be escalated. Meanwhile it's 90 degrees Florida!!!! I asked to be credited for the $75 charge and the agent said she can't do anything for me.... When you call IT for support the only thing they tell you is reboot the modern/cable box... If that doesn't work they send a technician to destroy your home with their futility!!! What's worse than Cox customer service? Their equipment!! Not only am I without a/c now, I have to watch one channel all night because rebooting the box doesn't work!!!!!
