Street Parking only. Parking behind the building is not for the restaurant. Only outdoor seatings are available. Food here is amazing!! Full of flavors. Rice dishes are very tasty as well here as well. Quatro dulce de leche - the fourth ingredient is Coconut Milk and it is amazing!!! If you do not like coconut then this is not for you. Service here is superb as well. Server was very nice and answered any questions we had. Overall experience here was great!!!

    Lomo Saltado and Ceviche Mixto

During my stay in Del Mar I decided to check this place out for lunch. I came for lunch with one other person on a weekday and there was only one other party. All the seating is located outside. It's a smaller restaurant but is cute. We ended up sharing their Ceviche Mixto and Lomo Saltado. They were both very salty. I eat pretty salty but my god. We did both like their flavors though. The ceviche mixto had great seafood in it, such as shrimp, scallops, calamari, and literally one mussel. It came with some yams that went great with it. The lomo saltado was even more salty. It came with two potato wedges and some rice. The meat had an asian flavor to me. I probably wouldn't get it again. Pricing was reasonable. I think it was a little over $70 got both items. The service was cool. Food did take awhile but other than that no complaints.

Location was cute but it's also really hard to go wrong with anywhere in Del Mar. The waiter was nice, seems he was the only one working on a slow Thursday afternoon. With that said, the service was slow. We got the ceviche, lomo Saltado and I got the queen carafe of Peruvian champagne. The ceviche was interested in that it was served hominy, what I think might be steamed yucca and catch of the day was yellowtail which is my personal favorite fish. However I'd rate the dish a 2/10 as the flavor was lacking and it was odd to be served with so much of the same texture. There was no crunch or dimension to the dish. I'm also from LA and we have amazing ceviche so I could be biased but even compared to a grocery store bought ceviche it barely held up. The lomo saltado had good flavor however the cuts of meat were interesting ... I almost expected it to be served with sliced up pieces of meat and fries but it wasn't quite what I expected. I'd give it an 7/10 bc I liked the flavor of the marinade/sauce. It wasn't until we asked specifically for green sauce and hot sauce that we got it but I think the green sauce should automatically be served with it bc it adds more to the flavor. I probably wouldn't come back as nothing inspired me to return for seconds or sparked my curiosity. However the place was nice and the waiter was sweet.

Went to this wonderful Peruvian restaurant after the Banksy exhibit. Parking was a challenge, but we managed to park on the side street. Waiter took care of us and the food came out fast! The octopus appetizer was delicious. My rice and seafood plate eas delicious. I must note the shrimp was sweet and tender. Lots of seafood and scallops hidden in the rice. The desert was good, but the real star was the food. Check this lovely restaurant out when you are in Del Mar, you wont be disappointed.

Obsessed! My sister found this place on Yelp when we were looking for a dinner spot nearby that served seafood. The reservation system made it easy to book a time (and change it when we were a little delayed). We came on a Saturday evening and it was basically empty. The ambiance was very cute (both outside and inside), and I could see this being such a cute date night spot. Everything on the menu looked delicious and fairly priced, and more importantly it tasted amazing! Literally everything we ordered was perfection -- no complaints. The drinks were okay (not bad, but not spectacular). I'd gotten the sangria which I wish was a little sweeter, and my sister ordered a non alcoholic Bellini (which she specifically asked for non-alc options and was pointed to that particular Bellini)... she ended up getting an alcohol one anyways which she was a little annoyed at, but good thing her reasoning for going non-Alc wasn't that deep or else it'd be an actual problem. I'd say the service as nice, standard, but pretty slow tbh. It took a while to get any kind of attention when we needed it (but we were checked on throughout the meal), and even longer to get the check and for them to come back to take the payment.

We were so excited to try this place but were unfortunately disappointed in our experience. I found Coya on the SOS app and the reviews looked promising. We went on a Saturday for lunch and were seated promptly. The ambiance is fun and the place is nicely decorated. Our server took our drink orders and then came back later to take our meal orders. We ordered a pomegranate limeade and their house made drink (forget the name), and for meals we ordered the octopus appetizer, lomo saltodo, squid ink risotto, and a kids lomo saltodo. The drinks were good. However it took a long time for the food to come out. Our server brought my daughter's meal first, then after some more time brought out our meals. Except they forgot my meal and instead he placed the octopus appetizer in front of me as if it were my meal. After waiting a little longer he asked if we were missing a meal (I was sitting there waiting and I said yes), at that point they rushed my order and it was obvious because the beef on my plate came undercooked. My husband's risotto barely had any rice, and he didn't like the fish it came with. Both portions were really small. Not much beef on my plate, and being pregnant, I avoided the undercooked pieces (I didn't ask for it to be redone because we were in a rush). My husband ate the undercooked pieces and later he had an upset stomach. The sauce in my dish was good but that was the only good thing about it. Service was average. Overall pretty disappointed in our experience as it had the potential to be so much better. We always love trying new places and new cuisines but this one was unfortunately a letdown.

Stopped by on a Sunday for dinner. Cute little spot with all outdoor seating. We ordered the ceviche classico, chaufa de mariscos, lomo saltado, and half roasted chicken. Everything was good but nothing really stood out.

Such a cool, unique restaurant in the heart of Del Mar! Very authentic Peruvian dishes that's full of flavor and worthy of all the accolades it's received in the past. The servers were friendly and attentive. A bit noisy with music playing loudly mixed with all the chattering from nearby tables. But since all seating is outdoors, the noise is somewhat diffused. Dishes we ordered: Peruvian Scallops appetizer - 3/5, although the presentation was fantastic, the scallop to cheese ratio was way off. The little scallops were buried deep under a mountain of baked cheese which made it hard to taste the scallops, which should've been the star of the dish. Loma Saltado - 5/5, it's no wonder this steak dish is popular among patrons. It definitely lives up to the hype. Pork Sandwich - 5/5, another popular favorite, and AGREED! Yuca Fries - 4/5, tasty but the cut was a bit thick. Cilantro Chicken Rice soup - 4/5 House Sangria - 5/5 Only big disappointment was that they ran out of passion fruit ice cream, which would've been a refreshing dessert. Ah well, next time, I want to be whisked away to Peru for a delightful meal, Coya you'll be my Secret getaway!

    Baby Chicken

Coya Peruvian Secret earned one of the top restaurants for a reason. As my first time experiencing Peruvian food, I was not disappointed. Service was exceptional, and while they are shorter on staff upon opening (1 main server & 1 chef) the quality made a nice experience. Their baby chicken is an underrated gem. There was a lot of cheese on their special scallops, but the affogato was delicious with homemade gelato. Portions were appropriate for the pricing and amount given. There is street parking both up front and behind the alley, and reservations can be made via OpenTable. Most of the seating is outdoors.

Service was great! I called ahead because most Peruvian restaurants are closed on Mondays. They are open Mondays! Yay. 4:30-5 chef takes a break so no major dishes at that time. So we took the coast and enjoyed the long way to the restaurant so we could get there at the right time. No issues parking, but we went during a slow time. It's off steet parking, there's not a parking lot, but again we found plenty of spots right in front of the restaurant. They have pretty and colorful decor. Fun lights and beautiful flowering tree coverage. Seating is outdoors so dress accordingly. I knew this because we've enjoyed dining here a few times, so I actually used my little throw blanket. It's causal but some Couples dress up and eat here too. Server was great. He was tentative and nice. I knew I wanted the shrimp causa and my daughter's favorite Peruvian dish is Lomo saltado, so thatd what she ordered. He told us about the specials so we went with trying the baked scallops. I'd asked for 2 and he accidentally brought 4 but immediately realized and without us having to even ask, he offered to take the extra two off. So grateful he caught that. My daughter doesn't like scallops and I just wanted to try them. I like sea scallops but these were bay scallops. I never asked so I shouldn't have assumed. It was a tasty appetizer, talked my daughter into trying it but she wasn't interested to try more. She loves Parmesan cheese and there was a lot but she wouldn't attempt the scallops. They were not under nor over cooked. I'm not sure what made it taste so unique but we both agreed we've never tasted anything like it. The shrimp causa wasnt the same flavor as months months ago. We don't live near so it's been a while since we've tried it. The alioli was a lot spicier than ever but still had good flavor but the causa was dry. But I had a side of alioli to help with that. Shrimp was tasty. Several other restaurants shrimp has been tasting off for months but this place shrimp tasted better. The Inca and chicha were delicious. I miss the cut up apple they use to put in it but still tastes fresh. Lomo Saltado was just two huge potato wedges and very few rice. Look at the photo. We did not eat any of it yet. This is the portion. It had good amount of jugó but the flavor wasnt like anything we'd tasted in Peru. BUT there's many many areas in Peru and we've only lived in a few and have only visited a handful more so just because it's not like any lomo we've tasted, doesn't mean it's not Peruvian. My daughter still liked it. It was high soy sauce and high vinegar taste. Lomo has both, but it was missing the cumin and flame flavor for me. We don't like potato wedges at all but she cut it up and made due with it. We were sooooo hungry from all day at the zoo so we almost finished all of it. None of the dishes are repeats for us but again, they taste good, just not the flavors we are use to, it's been a while so maybe that's why the causa and lomo tasted different. The server asked how is everything, im sure if we had said something he'd probably sought to help, but really it is what it is. I just think they cook differently then what we have had living in Peru. My husband had the seco here time ago, it's was incredibly delicious. He loves lamb. It was cooked perfectly and the frijoles were delicious as well. I hope the decide to put that dish back on the menu. Please. Not every visit is gonna go perfectly, that's not possible. Still a fun colorful restaurant with great service. Plates had great presentation. Not long at all ago I enjoyed the ceviche. I was just too cold to get it this time. Gonna got for it next time. Another couple got a huge salad. It looked so good, imma look for it on the menu next time.

Lomo Saltado that looks like it's been previously eaten. Clearly missing meat.

We came for dinner around 6 PM midweek and it wasn't crowded at all. The service was extremely slow, it took almost an hour to get any food. I went inside and saw numerous dishes sitting on the counter. After an additional 10 minutes of waiting, I asked the server to check as it's been almost an hour and he rudely said you only waited 30 minutes and it's not a long time. Those same dishes were sitting on the counter, nothing coming out to other patrons either. The food we got was not hot at all, likely just sitting on the counter for at least 15 minutes. The Lomo Saltado was flavorless and seriously lacking in portion. Look at the picture, can you find any meat? We only had 3 tiny pieces that taste like rubber. The salmon dish looked good in picture, but was flavorless and cold. The seafood fried rice was just rice mixed with seafood, by far the worse chaufa I've ever eaten. Strongly recommend going somewhere else for edible warm food.

The food are tasty and baby chicken is big portion. I like the beef in lomo are super good! My husband and I were fighting for it. Would be even better is good size as baby chicken. The area is good and nice decoration. Easy street parking.

4.5 stars. I have tried 3 Peruvian restaurants in North county (Qero, Manka, Coya) and this is the best. Their food is top notch. Their service and the overall ambiance needs some work. The restaurant is described as a quaint vintage cottage with vines running all over. At night, with the lights, it looks cute. But honestly, with the exception of the two tables right underneath the vines, the rest of the seating is just a mix and match of tables and chairs. There are a few tables that extend outside the restaurant patio area and it feels like you are sitting on the pavement rather in the restaurant. We almost got seated on one of those tables and requested to be moved to community high top table instead. If you are a party of 2, my recommendation would be to choose the tables right underneath the vine near the window. The service was a little underwhelming. Our server came to our table pretty quickly to take our order but after that, she disappeared for a while and we had to wait quite a while to flag her down for dessert, to-go boxes and the check. There were about 3 different servers and the other servers were more prompt with their tables. The menu is selected but hits all the major Peruvian dishes I've previously eaten. We ordered the classic ceviche, the lomo saltado and the half roasted baby chicken. We also got the pisco sour and Cusquena beer. We ended the meal with a quatro leches. The ceviche was excellent. Peruvian ceviche is a little different from the Mexican ones I've had before. The catch of the day was sea bass. The whole plate was tart, fresh and delicious. The yams were a great addition. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The portion was bigger than what we expected too. The lomo saltado was very good, but we would have liked a little more meat and a little less of the potatoes and the tomatoes. The meat was cooked perfectly. I've always found the filet mignon a little chewy but this one was on the medium/well side which we liked. The sauce was excellent. The whole plate was very filling but we'd have liked slightly more protein than the starch. The half roasted baby chicken was the star of the night. The chicken was cooked very well. The bed of rice, salsa and the aioli elevated the plate. We thoroughly enjoyed this plate and definitely recommend getting it. It is large enough that it could be shared by 2 people for sure. The quatro leches was disappointing. The biscuit added as the second layer was too dry and there was a weird raw powdery taste to the whole dessert. It got slightly better when you took a bit of all the layers together but I think they went overboard with this dessert and it ended up not being the classic that I'm used to. The drinks were good. I liked the pisco sour. It was slightly more eggy than I'd like but still good. The beer was interesting and my husband found it decent. The whole meal cost us about $85 without tips. For the quality and quantity we got, it was absolutely worth the price. We will be back here when we want Peruvian food, and will hope for better service and try to book the table under the vines.

Is their a place to stay overnight?

There are hotels in Del Mar

    Do they have live music?

No, at least the few times I've been there.

Is there a kids menu here?

    Yes

Do I have to make reservations for Mother's Day? Would love to bring our mom here and eat some good food! She is Peruvian and we love Peruvian food we could eat it all day everyday jajaja

In my experience, reservations are essential. There are simply too few seats to comfortably predict the seating situation at any particular time.

Can we reserve a table for 3 on the outside patio?

Definitely. In practice, almost all seating is outdoors.

I cant seem to find a menu and their website does not have one?? How is the pricing for lunch time.?

Just had lunch yesterday. Prices for the excellent food and service, to me, are very reasonable. Wine, appetizer, entree, and complimentary fried zucchini and cannoli for birthday (enough to take home leftovers) for two people around $100/w tip.

I didn't see this on the menu but if asked, would they be able to make aji de gallina?

It's called something else but they have it. Yes. You can get it.

We started with the papa a la huancaína, followed by the pollo saltado, tallarines verdes con pollo, and a chicha morada. The papa a la huancaína was decent, but it lacked the rich, flavorful sauce I was expecting. Unfortunately, the chicken in the tallarines verdes con pollo was undercooked. I let our server know, and when the dish was returned, the chicken had been cooked to the point that parts of it were charred black. I also wasn't impressed with the quality of the chicken, as I bit into hard pieces that caused me to spit out my food. The noodles themselves also lacked flavor, so I ended up leaving most of the dish untouched. The pollo saltado was the better of the two entrées, and we finished that plate. The chicha morada was refreshing and enjoyable. As for the sauces, the ají verde was mild and lacked flavor, while the ají panca was much better full of flavor with a nice kick of spice. The service was also just okay. There was one server handling the dining room, and while he wasn't unfriendly, the service felt very minimal. Overall, I really wanted to love the food based on the reviews, but I found it to be average. The portions, however, were generous. I left disappointed and don't plan to return. It's possible I simply ordered the wrong dishes, but since these are classic Peruvian staples, I expected them to be much more flavorful and better executed.

What adds to this food experience is the sauce that they give you both green and orange and they are both so delicious. I'm always a doubter when it comes to high ratings like did they offer some promotion? What I found was this authentic Peruvian spot that really outdoes itself in fresh, simple and flavorful ways. Service was great and I got the pork sandwich and a flan. Probably not the healthiest but wow the taste was there! Also clean interior that was nicely decorated to reflect the Peruvian culture.

The place is clean and the workers are very nice and patient when answering questions. This time around, I got the special: Arroz c/Pollo Y Papa Huancaina and my guy got the Chicharron sammich. I had them put the papa huancaina on the side because I wasn't sure if I would like it, but man was I proven wrong. It was delicious! Everything we got was delicious, honestly! I couldn't get enough of my chicken dish and didn't want to share it with my guy. His sammich was also very tasty and the pork was soo juicy. We ended up taking some dessert to go as well: Budin (bread pudding) and Chocolate Cake. The chocolate cake was a bit dry, but not sweet, which I liked. The bread pudding was freshly made and packed and we had to get it. I have never liked bread pudding in my life, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. That should tell you something. If you get the chance to come here, don't miss the chance! You won't regret it.

Sangucheria - Best beef empanada I've had so far in SD! The filling tasted like a beef stew with spices and the pastry was soft. Well balanced flavors.

Was only planning to get my favorite dish seco con frejoles, but had to add the kids pasta for myself! Ha! Again I'm serious. These two together lasted me 4 meals! I don't eat a lot but these two meals filled me up 4x. Now I could have ate it all in 3, but I would have been stuffed! Oh and I got my hubby arroz con leche. He was eating at home since I was just in San Diego for dr appt, but I wanted him to enjoy dessert from here. Of course I got two chichas as well, one for the drive home and the other for while I eat my meal. Don't let prices scare you. It's expensive everywhere. Here you get quality and a full plate and very full bellies. You will feel good afterwards, no regrets. Well maybe, you may regret not ordering more for the next day *wink*
