Queenstown is easily a five-star experience when it comes to the food. The quality is exceptional, and everything is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. I've tried the lamb chops, shrimp salad, salmon dish, and steak and fries, and every dish has been consistently excellent. Even the coffee is surprisingly impressive. The one area that could use improvement is the service. There can be noticeable delays, and the staff can come across as somewhat impersonal and inattentive. A little additional training around attentiveness, engagement, and hospitality would elevate the experience and better complement the relaxed yet polished Del Mar atmosphere. Overall, the food is outstanding and absolutely worth coming back for. read more

Her steak was a bit chewy and the fries were salty. I ordered the rack of lamb which was tastier and more tender. The salad was good and the sweet potato was also salty but so good. Potatoes need salt. We also ordered the chocolate temptation dessert but I think we should have gotten the cookie with ice cream instead. Queenstown Del Mar has such a beautiful dining room--tastefully decorated, gorgeous lighting, and those big windows overlooking downtown Del Mar. The space is simply stunning. We arrived about 10 minutes before closing, and they still welcomed us without hesitation. Our server, Brian, was incredibly warm and made us feel so welcome. That kind of service really stood out! We ordered the lamb rack and sea bass, and WOW... both absolutely blew us away. The sea bass was cooked to perfection and served over beautifully seasoned risotto and spinach. The lamb was incredibly tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. We genuinely loved every bite. The restaurant also has a separate bar and restroom area, which gives the dining room a nice, open feel. The pie was delicious and the crust was very flaky, but the fries were not cooked through and we're not crispy. We visited on a Saturday around noon, and the first challenge was parking. Finding a spot in the area was surprisingly difficult, so give yourself extra time if you're coming during peak hours. The restaurant itself was clean, bright, and well maintained. We were seated near the bar area, which had a nice atmosphere. Food wise, there were definitely some highlights. The hummus was excellent. Fresh, creamy, flavorful, and easily one of the best things we ordered. The burger was also very good. High quality ingredients, cooked properly, and packed with flavor. The breakfast plate was mixed. The sausage and the rest of the plate were enjoyable, but the biscuit was extremely hard and difficult to eat. The cocktails were pleasant and enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the service lacked attention to detail throughout the meal. Our hummus arrived before any utensils or napkins were brought to the table. After joking with our server that we must have forgotten our silverware at home, they apologized and eventually brought everything over. The iced tea took multiple requests before it arrived. We had to ask three separate times, and once it finally came, there was no sweetener. We then had to ask again for sweetener before being able to enjoy the drink. None of these issues were major on their own, but together they created a service experience that felt disorganized and inattentive. Overall, the food was good enough that I can understand why people like this place, especially the hummus and burger. However, the service needs improvement, particularly when it comes to paying attention to basic details and responding to requests in a timely manner. This is the third location I have been to. I discovered it's sister restraunt in Northpark. I found out about all the specials and the burger of the month and I have not stopped going since. I think so far I like the Little Italy location the most but this one was fabulous! The decor was on point it's got a separate area for a bar. It's an open-air concept dining so you get a cool Ocean breeze. I'm making my way through the menu and have recently tried the meat pie and then this time I tried the burger of the month which actually was a buffalo chicken wrap. It's definitely worth it! I still have two more locations to go but this one is definitely on my rotation in the future. The staff was over the top nice and when they found out it was our birthday (my friends and I) they brought us both our own personal slices of dessert with a candle! I shall return! read more

Excellent experience at this new Queenstown as usual with all of the e restaurants of this chain. What a nice add to Del Mar! That corner has changed dramatically and I can only see tons of people enjoying food and ambiance there. I love their lamb burger and it was the same flavor and moist and other Queenstowns. Fries were perfect too. Server was adorable and fast. Light is very mellow creating a peaceful atmosphere. Separated there is a bar area where the restrooms are located. Delicious food with good portion sizes. I give them 4 stars instead of 5 for only 3 reasons: 1. Not alcohlic drink prices are REALLY high. 2. They only have a 2 small bar tables indoors and all the rest of the seating is outside and it would not be a great place if it is cold, or raining. 3. The server insisted that the sauce on the tacos was not spicy and it was actually "hella spicy" - like make your eyes water spicy. Otherwise, The menu was interesting. They have fantastic happy hour food special prices. The server was very friendly. And the food we had was great. We ordered off the happy hour menu and the portion sizes were good. We had the beet salad which had this amazing dressing. They told us it was the Plum vinegar they use. Sooo tasty. We also had the Poke tacos. If you don't like super spicy get them without the sauce. So bummed. I have been going to Queenstown downtown since they opened. My coworkers have probably been there over 100 times. When they opened up in UTC I tried, they tried, it was mall food with mall quality service. And then they open up in my backyard of Del Mar. I love the way they outfit an awkward footprint and they found a way to get the sheep involved. We went for happy hour ready to eat and drink. Sadly it was not to be. Their version of a spicy margarita was fine but a little too sweet for my liking. The sausage bites came out piping hot but after eating a few bites we noticed a couple of hairs. The poke tacos (2 for $10) were ok. Not alot of tuna but that was fine. Our food stayed half eaten, plates and drinks empty for at least 15 minutes. We were not in a rush so it started out chill. And then it grew to frustration as staff walked by like were invisible. When we finally flagged someone and asked them for service and told them about the hair they ignored it. Oh well. I suspect the team here is still ironing out the kinks. Three of our party of four were very disappointed for several good reasons (mostly food prep related), but my own experience was very good. My King Salmon was cooked perfectly, as was the rice. My squash was over--too mushy. My wife's spicy fried chicken sandwich had way too much gristle and the shoestring fries were strangely seasoned (off sweet). The other couple we were with shared the sea bass and thought the portion was too meager (maybe a self inflicted error). The space is delightful and our server was solid. I tried Queenstown last night. We do a weekly motorcycle ride to dinner. There were 4 of us last night. I had the Smash Burger and a Cesar salad. All the food and drinks were fantastic, as was our server. I will definitely go back. The only downside was at this time of year, at dinner time the sun was baking our table. We asked to have the shade lowered and they told us they couldn't do that but offered sunglasses. Eric went through several napkins mopping sweat his bald head... but then the sunset. A bright, airy, and creative addition to the Del Mar dining scene, on the busy southeast corner of Old 101 and 15th Street. The windows and shades can be opened, so it's almost like outdoor dining. Watching the passing parade of characters of all types navigating this busy intersection is an added cultural bonus. The reasonably priced dinner menu includes six dinner plates from $29-$39. It has five burgers, including a lamb Smashburger for $18; five shareables; and five New Zealand favorites, including the tasty sausage rolls for $16. For appetizers, we enjoyed the two Poke Tacos, $14. For dinner, the New Zealand sea bass in a mild beurre blanc sauce ($36) was a little light on flavor; it came with a saffron risotto. The tasty Queenstown Fav Burger, $17, with New Zealand wagyu beef and Edam cheese on a house bun, is highly recommended. It came with shoestring fries, but their recipe oddly adds dashes of sugar and not just salt. We could have done without the sweetness. For grazing, try happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM in their bar, across a small courtyard. It features $10 cocktails and wines, $7 for draft beers. For combinations, they have offer Mussels and Vino for $18; burgers and bubbles, $18; and different shareables, $14. Service is fast, professional, and friendly. The food here is genuinely great, the atmosphere is awesome, and the location is a gem -- I want this place to succeed, especially since the last couple of businesses in this spot didn't make it. That said, there's one thing management needs to fix. During our visit we were asked to leave our table not once but twice by the hostess (our server was lovely -- this wasn't on her). We'd been there a total of an hour and ten minutes, at 11:15 in the morning, and there was nobody waiting for a table. It was clearly a booking/planning issue on their end, but it was handled with zero social awareness. The second ask especially came off as flat-out rude. Being asked to pack up mid-meal because someone overbooked the floor isn't a guest problem, it's a management one. A little training on how to handle table turns -- or just not double-booking an empty room at 11am -- would go a long way. Again: great food, great vibe, great location. Fix the front-of-house management and this place will thrive. Leave it as is and you'll lose people who otherwise would have been regulars. read more

The service falls far short of the ambiance. While the setting is beautiful and the host was very nice, sloppy execution and deceptive billing marred our dining experience. Basic service necessities were completely overlooked; no share plates for our appetizer, and no discard bowl for the shells in the cioppino. Parts of my hangar steak arrived lukewarm and almost raw. The server was basically MIA most of the time. The biggest issue, however, was the bar tab. I ordered a standard Old Fashioned without specifying a brand, only to discover on the receipt that the server had quietly rung up a $26 pour of Basil Hayden plus a $2 cocktail modifier, turning a basic drink into a $28 surprise. When the bill came, the server simply dropped the portable payment terminal at the table and vanished, leaving no chance to question the inflated charge before closing out. In a neighborhood with so many great restaurants, Queenstown Del Mar needs to seriously up its game. (But maybe that's why there was zero wait and several empty tables.) read more

As a local, I'm so happy that Queenstown has moved into this location! On the corner of Camino Del Mar and 15th just up from Powerhouse park, this spot has been home to a few other businesses and this is the one I would like to stay. Gorgeous on the inside, filled with plants and large windows that open up to the outside so you can still get that patio feel if you're on the side close to the windows. Their bar and kitchen is across the walkway which is unusual but I love the equally appealing but different vibe of the darker and more tucked away bar. For happy hour I have had their burger, fries and bubbly special and it is sO good. The fries are shaped like chips but textured like fries with both a ketchup and a brown sauce on the side for dipping. The burger is perfect and the prosecco added on is a wonderful bonus. I'll absolutely be getting this combo on repeat to kick off happy hour or before moving on to Monarch to continue the evening. read more
