Well, we were looking for a new place to go eat dinner tonight. I looked on Google, and this place had high reviews, and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, some of the best food I've had in a while. Mind you, I don't know Peruvian food that well, but it was just dang good. The ceviche was the best I've ever had, and the ribeye steak was really, really good and well-priced. Large portions. The atmosphere is a little more cafeteria-ish, but it's okay. The food makes up for it.

We finally tried this AL TOQUE Peruvian Kitchen , a Peruvian Cuisine. They used to only operate in a Food Truck and now they have their restaurants. We came early and there were only a few of us inside sitting in the main dining area. There are plenty of customers on their Bar and a lot of in-and-out people ordering to go. We only ordered the Soltado and Fried seafood (Jalea Mixta) to try, but it took so long for our food to come out. They seemed to be focusing on the orders to go. But after trying their food, all that waiting is Worth it, the food was delicious, I really like how the Fried Seafood was cooked, Crispy and flavorful, also their Lomo Saltado was very Tender. Very clean inside, spacious, and with friendly staff. Parking was easy, plenty around.

As daughter of a Peruvian I can tell you this place is very good. We got there at 12pm on a Saturday and there were only two tables occupied. We were seated, but it did take a while to get service since there was only one person for all the tables taking order, bringing food, etc. That for me is a downside since being a Saturday in December the restaurant should have more personnel. We ordered Maracuya Sour and Chicha Morada for drinks, which was really good. For food we ordered Fish Ceviche, Yuca Frita and Chaufa de Mariscos (Peruvian Fried Rice). Taste was truly Peruvian style. So the quality of the food made for the service, that is why I didn't put it 5 stars. Place is big with lots of tables and a big parking area.

Some of the fries were spoiled, as you can see in the photo.

Parking was easy and the staff was very friendly. The ceviche was absolutely perfect. The potato dish was also perfect, but a few of the fries were spoiled, as you can see in the photo. The beef plate had good seasoning with the onions and rice, but the meat itself had a slightly odd taste. The chicken and rice plate was unfortunately dry. Overall it was a decent experience. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but if I'm already in the area and hungry I'd stop by again....

First time trying this spot out. In a strip mall with some parking, but there are lots of businesses there, so it is a little crowded. Inside the restaurant, plenty of seating, giant mural, nice ambiance, TV with sports playing, friendly staff. Service was good, the food was ready when promised, and they double bagged my order which was great because 1 bag would have broken with all of that food. We tried several different items. Calamari Crispy fried calamari, seasoned and lightly battered, served with our huancaina dipping sauce. Crispy fried calamari, seasoned and lightly battered, served with our huancaina dipping sauce. Yum. Tasty. That dipping sauce has a little kick, but it is a good taste. Saltados - Chicken & Ribeye A delicious duo of juicy chicken and tender ribeye, wok-tossed with onions, tomatoes, fries, and Peruvian spices, served with a side of rice. A delicious duo of juicy chicken and tender ribeye, wok-tossed with onions, tomatoes, fries, and Peruvian spices, served with a side of rice. Delicious. I was going to try to not eat it all, but it was good good and I devoured it. My least favorite part was the tomato chunks. Tallarín Verdes-Pollo Enjoy the bold flavors of our signature Peruvian green pasta! Spaghetti coated in a rich spinach and basil sauce, topped with a tender, flattened chicken breast (pollo) grilled to perfection. Good. I tried a bite. Not as good as my Saltados. Lomo A flavorful Peruvian fried rice dish with tender ribeye strips, scrambled eggs, green onions, and soy sauce, wok-tossed for a smoky finish. We found this place while looking for Peruvian food in the area. Prepared to be wowed by the full wall mural as you walk in to the right. It's just so vibrant and full of energy. It gives the place such an upbeat feeling. I ordered the Tallarin Saltados Especial, with shrimp, chicken and beef. Such a dance of flavors! Loved the sauce so much, I could drink it. Service was friendly and speedy. I look forward to trying out more dishes here.

Here's a second review from me. I had the Tallarines a la Huancaina-Pollo for the first time and it was amazing the Parmesan creamy pasta was packed with a home style comfort food experience. The chicken breast was cooked to perfection with balanced spices to compliment the pasta Honestly I wasn't very hungry when I arrived but I wanted to finish my meal due to how good it tasted. I ended up ordering one to go for my lunch tomorrow since I live 70 miles away. 5/5 stars The Chicha is also a must to order. It reminds of Christmas fall holiday flavors. I got one of those to go as well. 5/5 starts The owners were gracious enough to put a specific football game on so we can see it while we eat. The ambiance was full of upbeat people celebrating a few birthdays!

Tried Al Toque while in Oceanside and it was a great find! We started with the calamari appetizer -- simple, crispy, and good. The Talla'nin Verdes-pollo was the star of the night, so flavorful and cooked perfectly. I also tried the Leche de Tigre which had awesome, bright flavors, but it's a little tough to share family style, so probably wouldn't order that one again. The Mariscos Chaufas was super tasty and full of flavor. For dessert, we couldn't resist the Alfajores -- you get a dozen in a little to-go box. They were soft, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth delicious and such a fun way to end the meal. Service was prompt and friendly. All in all, solid 4 stars -- tasty food, casual vibe, and we'd definitely come back next time we're in the area!

Came in on Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy. Few different families so not loud at all. Food was absolutely amazing. My steak was made differently this time and I personally loved it so much more. Service has been consistent and the men always make us feel welcomed. I know I need to try something new on the menu but this has been so good. Steak with a creamy pasta, like what else could you ask for. My son had the pesto pasta and really enjoyed that. Even took home his leftovers and finished them later on that night. I mention that only because he hates left overs and that means he really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back to try something new.

Food is always delicious. So flavorful and it tastes even better than it looks (hard to believe Ik) service is very friendly and helpful! It's in a bit of an unassuming spot but what a gem to know about! Already can't wait to go again :)

Chaufas with Chicken and Aji de gallina

I came here last night with a friend. Having never tried Peruvian food before, I was curious about the dishes. Soooo delicious! I learned that Peruvian cuisine has Japanese influences due to the immigrant population. What an interesting flavor pairing. My friend and I both got the Chaufas - Peruvian friend rice dish. I chose the chicken. It was so good. Like a warm hug in a bowl. If you like spicy food, you will love their house made Aji sauce! It adds a flavorful kick to the dish. I also tried the Inca Cola which is like a cream soda. It's a sit down restaurant. The staff is friendly and warm and welcoming. Highly recommend checking it out.

BRICK AND MORTOR (5 stars) - FOOD: delicious - PRICE: fair - SERVICE: attentive and excellent - AMBIANCE: in a plaza with ample seating Really good Peruvian food in north county San Diego in Oceanside. The people coming here seem to be local residence AND regulars. It's giving community vibes and I like that about these smaller beach towns. :: ORDER :: COMPLIMENTARY CANCHITA - aka Peruvian popcorn. Tiny bowl was served and nice to much on while waiting for your meal. INKA KOLA ($4) - you cannot have Peruvian food without an inka kola! You just can't. Their Inka Kola is served in a bottle (first for me as I have always had it in a can). For those who don't know the flavor - it resembles bubble gum in my opinion. HIGHLY RECOMMEND RIB EYE LOMO SALTADO ($21) - the portion to price and the quality of the meal matched the pricing. Equal ratio of vegetables:fries:ribeye:rice. Good execution of stir fry, the vegetables (tomatoes, onions) were sliced and cut into smaller pieces, still had shape, some crunch, but soft when eaten. The fries were skinny and soft from soaking up the sauce. The ribeye was cooked right, it had good texture and packed a punch. It was rich and tender. The slices were cut into thin strip and easy for consumption. Didn't find any fatty gelatinous pieces - all meat. The sauce that covered everything wasn't too saucy or soy saucy and provided balanced marination of salty, savory, and little bit of tangy. They provide a bottle of huacatay for you to control your own heat levels. A tiny dribble of this goes a long way and the heat can be felt. HIGHLY RECOMMEND I usually leave room for dessert but there wasn't any on the menu. It's okay, left very full and looking to return to the other items. Until the next review....

Tallarn Verdes-Ribeye - SO good and ribeye was not overcooked

I make the best at home but it's quite labor intensive so to see they had it on the special! Yay! I can have it and don't have to cook!!! Most places all in the US doesn't get this dish right but yay, I enjoyed it! The large was plenty for my hubby and I to have a cup for lunch then the rest for breakfast the next day. I added their green sauce to give it a kick. So don't worry about it being spicy. It won't be. But if you want spicy they have rocoto (the red) or verde (green) sauce. Add that to your dish to give it that little kick. I don't like extra sweet so I ice down their chicha. Most ppl don't so enjoy it how you like it. The gift is you can alter the items to your liking. All you need is right there. Salt. Ice. Sauces. The causa is so delightful. And the ceviche is creamy jugó yumminess. So fresh. And refreshing. These two are offered together too! I drove into the center just to see what was there, and that's when I found Casera. The pictures in the window caught my eye, so I figured I'd stop in and try a few empanadas. The woman behind the counter told me they had three kinds that day: spinach and cheese, chicken, and beef. I ordered two of each and literally cleaned her out. From the moment I walked in, the place had such an authentic, family-run feel -- you can just tell when food is made with care. She asked if I wanted hot sauce, and I told her I love hot sauce. She handed me both a salsa verde and a salsa rojo, and man... after the very first bite (I started with the chicken), I completely lost my mind. I added the sauces and went to town. Before I knew it, I had eaten all six empanadas. I am ridiculously full right now, but they were so good I honestly couldn't stop myself. If I had ordered a dozen, I would've eaten a dozen. So we took the coast and enjoyed the long way to the restaurant so we could get there at the right time. No issues parking, but we went during a slow time. It's off steet parking, there's not a parking lot, but again we found plenty of spots right in front of the restaurant. They have pretty and colorful decor. Fun lights and beautiful flowering tree coverage. Seating is outdoors so dress accordingly. I knew this because we've enjoyed dining here a few times, so I actually used my little throw blanket. It's causal but some Couples dress up and eat here too. Server was great. He was tentative and nice. I knew I wanted the shrimp causa and my daughter's favorite Peruvian dish is Lomo saltado, so thatd what she ordered. He told us about the specials so we went with trying the baked scallops. I'd asked for 2 and he accidentally brought 4 but immediately realized and without us having to even ask, he offered to take the extra two off. So grateful he caught that. My daughter doesn't like scallops and I just wanted to try them. I like sea scallops but these were bay scallops. I never asked so I shouldn't have assumed. It was a tasty appetizer, talked my daughter into trying it but she wasn't interested to try more. She loves Parmesan cheese and there was a lot but she wouldn't attempt the scallops. They were not under nor over cooked. I'm not sure what made it taste so unique but we both agreed we've never tasted anything like it. The shrimp causa wasnt the same flavor as months months ago. We don't live near so it's been a while since we've tried it. The alioli was a lot spicier than ever but still had good flavor but the causa was dry. But I had a side of alioli to help with that. Shrimp was tasty. Several other restaurants shrimp has been tasting off for months but this place shrimp tasted better. The Inca and chicha were delicious. I miss the cut up apple they use to put in it but still tastes fresh. Lomo Saltado was just two huge potato wedges and very few rice. Look at the photo. We did not eat any of it yet. This is the portion. It had good amount of jugó but the flavor wasnt like anything we'd tasted in Peru. BUT there's many many areas in Peru and we've only lived in a few and have only visited a handful more so just because it's not like any lomo we've tasted, doesn't mean it's not Peruvian. My daughter still liked it. It was high soy sauce and high vinegar taste. Lomo has both, but it was missing the cumin and flame flavor for me. We don't like potato wedges at all but she cut it up and made due with it. We were sooooo hungry from all day at the zoo so we almost finished all of it. None of the dishes are repeats for us but again, they taste good, just not the flavors we are use to, it's been a while so maybe that's why the causa and lomo tasted different. The server asked how is everything, im sure if we had said something he'd probably sought to help, but really it is what it is. I just think they cook differently then what we have had living in Peru. My husband had the seco here time ago, it's was incredibly delicious. He loves lamb. It was cooked perfectly and the frijoles were delicious as well. I hope the decide to put that dish back on the menu. Please. Not every visit is gonna go perfectly, that's not possible. Still a fun colorful restaurant with great service. Plates had great presentation. Not long at all ago I enjoyed the ceviche. I was just too cold to get it this time. Gonna got for it next time. Another couple got a huge salad. It looked so good, imma look for it on the menu next time.

It's so refreshing to have something authentic and cultural here that isn't just a derivative of every other restaurant in town. Great service, good vibes, and truly unique flavors. THE FOOD: -ceviche (AQ) - smaller in portion size but very flavorful. i think the red onions, halibut, and corn nuts paired really well together and i would order again. just wish there was more! -ribeye saltado (AQ) - compared to other locations this one is a bit higher end and serves ribeye and it was very good along with their bomb aji verde sauce!!! spread that everywhere and you're golden. this is my go to dish and recommend to anyone! PROS: -beautiful interior -they open the windows up really wide so it also feels indoor/outdoor if you are sitting in that part of the restaurant -friendly staff! -very large space; would be great to host an event here -cant go wrong with their dishes CONS: -smaller parking lot but doable or street OVERALL: highly recommend, but note it seems each location has a different ish menu and caters to that area (ex. this one is a bit higher end) so keep that in mind!

The space is small and intimate and I think it would be a nice place for a casual date! We were seated quickly and the server was really great throughout the whole meal and very knowledgeable about the food. I appreciated that he let us know about the specials without us needing to ask. We started off with some drinks. I got a red wine sangria and it was good but I did find it to taste a bit watered down but it wasn't a huge deal! We also got a carne empanada and the flavor was to die for. The beef and onion was so delicious and savory. It was juicy inside but the outside was crispy and dry not soggy at all. The portion size was fairly large as well. We also got the yuca frites. They were good. Crispy but still nice and starchy and filling. Not my favorite dish but only because of personal preference and not because they didn't do it well! Lastly we ended with the pork shank special they had for the night. It was absolutely amazing. The meat just fell off the bone and was so tender. I loved how the mushroom and spinach came with the pork. All of the different parts of the fish came together really well to made it exceptional. It was a hearty and comforting meal and I wish it were on their regular menu! I'm excited to come here again in the future to try more dishes.

The outside patio is especially pleasant and makes for a great place to sit, enjoy your meal, and take in the fresh ocean air. Being so close to the ocean really adds to the experience and gives the whole place a laid back coastal feel. The menu features Mexican and Latin fusion food with some creative and flavorful options. Everything I tried felt thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. The cucumber margarita was incredibly refreshing with a bright cucumber flavor and just the right touch of sweetness. It was crisp, light, and perfect for the setting. The seaside molcajete was a standout dish for me. It is a hearty seafood stew served bubbling hot and packed with different kinds of seafood. If you enjoy seafood, this is definitely something worth ordering. The Baja fish tacos were also very satisfying with thick pieces of fish that were flaky and flavorful. It is a simple dish but done very well. I also tried the chicken enchiladas which came as a comforting plate with a little bit of everything. The chicken was tender and the dish had a rich and satisfying flavor. Overall Tamarindo Del Mar is a great spot if you are looking for Mexican and Latin inspired dishes in a relaxed coastal setting. Between the pleasant patio, the ocean nearby, and the flavorful food, it is definitely a place I would come back to.

This restaurant did absolutely nothing for my tastebuds, I should have saved my money and ate at the taco shop across the street instead.
