Every time we stop in Waterville (which is usually 2x a year) we stop in to the coyote. The food is delicious the only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are always super busy and there's always a wait. Their specials though! One time my husband got elk. I never even heard of elk at any other restaurant and it was so so tasty. The prices are a little higher end but that is to be expected for the love they put in their food is very evident. They do have a bar menu which you can order off of anywhere in their bar area. That food is so tasty too. If I don't order off of their specials menu I usually have their fish sandwich which is always fresh and great! Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. It's the best around. It's the only semi-fine dining option at Waterville Resorts and serves its purpose. It is a casual setting but they also host plenty of rehearsal dinners and private parties. The only challenge is that it is located inside the White Mountain Club so you are walking by the pool. Not a big deal but worth a note. The food is just ok. The menu is small but they always feature daily specials like scallops and even elk, along with oysters and other fresh seafood. Some dish recaps: 1. Chicken and mushrooms: Juicy, egg-battered breast over risotto in a Madeira glaze with mushrooms. The sauce was flavorful and well-balanced, and the chicken was tender, albeit slightly dry. The risotto was disappointing: al dente and bland. The presentation was nice but the overall flavors were distracted by the risotto. 2. Stuffed Haddock: Just ok - the fish and stuffing were dry, and rice was bland and very dry. A seasoned pilaf would have been a much better accompaniment. 3. Flat iron steak: A pretty typical steak but mine was more sinewy than necessary and on the tough side. The mashed potatoes were also pretty bland. 4. Caprese salad: Pretty standard sliced mozzarella and tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. 5. Creme Brulee: SKIP! WAY too sweet and the sugar glaze was too thick. 6. Chocolate ganache tart: It's a decent gluten-free option but the ice cream was flat and the tart itself too sweet. The concept is good but the execution fell flat. Service is very friendly and the low-key vibe is great. I think that the pub fare is likely better than the "higher-end" cuisine - the burger looked good. Many years ago this was a standard sports bar -- not my thing. In May we dined with friends there. It's now a really great American with variations overall restaurant. And the TV's were off that night, so we especially liked the ambiance. The Bang bang shrimp is absolutely to die for! And their's doesn't match any recipes I found on the web -- I want their recipe ! Everything we had from drinks through dessert was delicious and well prepared. Service was great. They weren't super busy the night we were there, which may have been an advantage. Yes, it is strange to be located above a health club that smells of pool chlorine, but given the limited options in Waterville Town Square, Coyote Grill is a pretty good one. It is walkable from any of the lodging options in Waterville Village, but the night I went was nearing 0 degrees outside, so I drove the 30 seconds and took advantage of their large parking lot. And sorry, I ate the pork belly mac and cheese too quickly to take a photo, so you are left with the one Yelp photo with the wine glass (which isn't really reminiscent of the feel of the place). It was delicious, along with one of the hot adult beverages (hot chocolate w/ peppermint schnapps). I ate at the sizable bar, where there are TV's showing sporting events and plenty of people watching. read more

I took one star off because as people have mentioned, it's weird that the restaurant is located above the resort pool. There is a chlorine smell and lots of people running around. Also, we had an800pm reservation and were not seated till closer to 830pm. Other than that- delicious, VERY LARGE portions of just the right kind of food you want to eat after a long day of skiing or hiking. There are usually specials and they do sell out! The lamb shank was perfectly cooked and fell right off the bone. Service was amazing even at the height of busyness. Billy was a great server. Eight of us, Labor Day weekend. Made a reservation in the morning, for our party of eight. When we arrived, the place was jammed! We were greeted by the manager who told us our table was being prepared for us. Well, they gave us a great table that we requested so that we can view the fireworks that evening. Waterville Valley has fireworks on most holidays year around. Yes, I'll finally get to the food review! All of our meals were excellent! In fact, despite how busy the place was, our food was exceptionally good. And the service was top-notch. We look forward to our next meal there. Very creative menu, with the owner always having some wild game on the menu. We had the elk and it was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Despite how busy it was, they encouraged us to stay and enjoy the fireworks from the window while it was raining outside, which was our plan. You really couldn't of asked for a better evening, with everyone getting along, great food, great views, in our wonderful little Valley. Well worth the trip for anyone looking for some creative food in a gorgeous setting (the Town) in the middle of the National Forest. Came up for some St. Patty day skiing. The service was great! I had the apple salad and added some shrimp to it. We all shared the brussel sprout appetizer. Delicious! If you're looking for dinner in Waterville there are slim pickings. This place blew everywhere else out of the water. After spending the day with my husband having a few drinks at several of the local bars we realized we wanted something more for dinner than the typical burger or pizza most of the places offer. We chose coyote grill. After walking past the pool & the overpowering smell of chlorine we were very pleasantly surprised. On a busy Saturday night of a holiday weekend we found two seats at the bar and our service was great. We each had one of the specials, both of which were reasonably priced as well as flavorful and delicious. We decided to return for dinner the following night because we enjoyed the dinner and service so much! Visited Coyote Grill after a weekend at Waterville Valley. It was pretty quiet but there were a few tables taken. It was the first weekend of summer and before Waterville gets busier. Our dinner was good, service was good, and everything came out in a timely manner. My wife and I had drinks, appetizers, entrees, and shared a dessert. All of it was very good. My wife had a kale salad with chicken which she says was amazing. Her margarita was also very good. She loved the chocolate torte, as did I! Honestly have to say I don't get all the high ratings for this place. It has to be that is about the only game in town. We drove 40 minutes from Lincoln (staying at Loon) to try this place based on the reviews. There really isn't much in the Lincoln area that is really good so we said we would go and try. Let's start with the reservation process. The first time I called when I knew they were open it rang for several minutes with no answer. I hung up and waited a few minutes and tried again. I young man answered and I asked if they took reservations, he says yes. I told him what I was looking for, he asked my name, said I was all set and hung up. Didn't ask for my number or anything, just hung up. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated immediately. They have a good wine selection, but extremely limited what you can get by the glass. Lots of good wines by the bottle, but not going to get a bottle for myself. The only cabernet they had by the glass was low end and rated so so. I tried a glass of a higher rated Toscano and it was OK. When it came to the menu they have a decent selection. My wife and I both started with a bowl of their bacon corn chowder. When it came we asked for some salt and pepper for the table. The server brought us a bowl with salt on one side and pepper on the other, no utensil. We had to use our fingers to pinch some of it and sprinkle on. It tasted good, but my wife kept asking what this mushy thing was in hers. It almost looked like a small dumpling. I suspect it was the flour mixture used to make a rue. Yuck. They had an Elk sirloin on the menu. I had never had Elk before and like to try new things so I asked our server about it. She said she didn't know, she was a vegetarian and had never tried it. I get the vegetarian thing, but as a server you should know the menu and be able to answer questing about it. Since it was pricey I decided not to go with it. To afraid of paying a lot and being disappointed. Well that still somewhat backfired. I went with the shrimp and risotto, which I love both. What a disappointment. The risotto was undercooked, not creamy like it should be and had chunks of thick shaved parm on top that only partially melted. The asparagus was almost raw. The shrimp were cooked good, but lacked flavor. My wife went with the fish tacos and said they were good. She also got Tiramasu for dessert and said that was good. Other than the soup my wife thought it was OK. I was highly disappointed. Not worth the $ or the 40 minute drive each way. read more

This place is highly rated and it is located above the pool at a complex near the ski lodges. Food is over priced for what it is. We ordered flatbread pizza and it was soggy. Kids meal pasta was fine. Pasta Bolognese was watery and lacked both flavor and texture. Meatloaf at 25 dollars was not worth it. Booth was nice but faced the kitchen door. Easily the best place to eat in Waterville Valley, my family has been visiting Coyote Grill for years - at our most recent visit, the Thai brussels sprouts stood out as exemplary, but my mushroom risotto and my husband's elk special were generous portions, impeccably prepared. Kids Menu is standard fare (mac & cheese, chicken fingers, etc), but the children were happy. The waitress was friendly and efficient - and gave my son extra cherries in his Shirley Temple, which was nice. The best (and most expensive) restaurant in the valley, but we've found it a bit inconsistent over the years. Perhaps this is inevitable at a small town restaurant. The menu changes regularly, and they often serve interesting cuts of meat like venison and bison. Strengths seem to be beef and fish dishes. The pub menu offers less expensive fare. Good Food & Service! The low marks are more a reflection on how we were treated by the host. We came in when we knew it wouldn't be busy (between the lunch and dinner rushes). We wanted a quick meal before our game that didn't involve chicken nuggets or pizza. We were not disappointed in the food! Everything was good. There were 8 of us. BFD. The dining room was empty. There were 2 people sitting at the bar. He was freaking out (visually and physically) that we didn't have a reservation (which we tried to get). He made us feel most unwelcome (our bill was over $500 all said and done) and repeatedly mumbled (loud enough fur us to hear) how his dining patrons have certain expectations. He didnt' even consider us dining patrons! By the time we finished our meal, customers were rolling in, but the dining room was still primarily vacant. He had no business acting the way he did. Hovering and pacing around our tables...it really took away from our experience. We were treated like crap and will not give this place our future business. read more

Very much enjoyed our meal here. We were a bit skeptical about a restaurant located in a health club, but once you actually get in it's a nice setting. The food was very high quality Classic American with a twist. We shared lobster and tomato salad and both went with the elk special for mains, which was fantastic. Shared a Boston cream cake desert, which was also good, though the savory dishes were more special and the highlights. Coming here for a weekend from NYC we feared we may need to compromise on restaurant quality (yep, NYC food snobs), but were pleasantly surprised: the food was really good! Can't say enough good things about the Coyote. We held our rehearsal dinner for about 30 people there for my wedding this past summer and everything went smooth. The food was great and everyone enjoyed it. Working with Nathan to plan the event, menu and details was very stress free and he was very easy going. Its easily the best food around. We also showed up the day before the rehearsal with 10 folks of my close family since the food is so good and they happily accommodated the large party. Night #1 with the wife was great, my fave Baxter brew.on tap, great steak & cheese sandwich, fries and Cesar salad all came out quickly and were all pretty great. Had a great Daddy daughter dinner last night with my 12 year old. Another great dinner at coyote! Plenty of great menu choices. Too many actually. Selected the pork chop and was very pleased with presentation and absolutely everything. Brined perfectly and cooked just right. We ordered off the full dinner menu but I liked having access to the pub menu too. Just in case. Server Noelle did a great job. Coyote continues to be the best restaurant in WV and surrounding area. I made reservations in advance here for our Valentine's Day dinner. It was on our way in to NH from Southern MA for the long weekend. It was slightly out of the way, about 15 mins off our route (off the highway), but 30 mins from our hotel. It was busy, but wasn't super packed. The waiter seemed very nervous and had to be asked a couple of times for the same request. Such as asking for a straw, or a second refill on a soft drink (that we finally decided to cancel). Maybe he was new, but seeing him juggling back and forth the few tables he had, seemed to be a bit much for him. Now the food, not a very big menu to choose from. I got the "Pork Schnitzel - panko crusted pork cutlets, yukon gold mash, mushroom madeira demo glace." It came with 2 thin chops and mashies. Supposed to come with a "glace" I had not noticed a drop of it on my plate as it was all very dry. I had to ask for some kind of gravy afterwards. Which after a whiles wait only after I had already finished - only eating an unsatisfied 1/2 the portion of my plate, it arrived and it wasn't your average gravy for mashies, like a watery sauce assuming it was the "glace" I should've had to begin with. Very small portions, luckily I wasn't starved. My boyfriend got the Angus Burger and fries and enjoyed it. I myself, honestly, did not. read more
