The Thunderbird Lounge and Profile Room are a conjoined restaurant and bar located inside the Indian Head Resort. We came for lunch and to watch an event after hiking nearby at the Flume Gorge. The space has flood to ceiling sprawling windows offering a wonderful view of the White Mountains and the property. Lots to do on site including pedal boats, shuffleboard, pool, hot tub, corn hole, and arcade. Very family friendly. We sat in the bar area and the bartender kindly accommodated my channel request. Large TVs with good definition. I had a couple beers. Mix of some macros and regional options. Standouts were IPAs from Maine Beer Co and Fiddlehead. Food wise, I had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. My wife had the Greek salad with fried chicken. Veggie forward items were delightful for us after an ice cream heavy diet during our trip. Fabulous in every way. I came as a young 10 yo with my brother and parents, many yearly trips. I then started my own family and we came up yearly. Now my oldest brings her husband and now their child. And now we all vacation together. Thank you for being who you are, and us wanting to come back for more memory making to add to the past. Ordered the Sirloin steak. Overpriced and tough service was mediocre. They had run out of my wife's salad dressing so instead of coming back to find out a substitute, the waiter just brought a substitute and left before asking if it was alright. It wasn't he also didn't bring me any dressing for my salad. read more

I'm not understanding bad reviews here. We stayed across the road in what I'm assuming is the newest part of the resort, the room was very nice. Everything was clean and it passed the wifey test, . This not the Ritz, nor does it pretend to be, it's a family place. Plenty of areas for the kids to run around, 2 pools and a hot tub with a million dolls view. The restaurant was good and again, we weren't expecting gourmet food, just decent simple fair. The staff was nice. We'll be back again when the warm weather arrives. Hehe...I hear they stock the pond in the back and they'll cook any trout you catch. read more

Everything was good. Maybe we ordered well, but everything delivered. French onion soup was excellent. Salad was made very good by very good blue cheese dressing. Those are both highly recommended. Italian Pizza was a special, very good. Atmosphere was pleasant and view is neat. Host and waitress were both very good. Live music started a bit late, but all good. read more

Great "all you can eat" breakfast buffet! Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good, nothing fancy, but my two kids cleared their plates and went back for more. My fiancé and I were in the area for the weekend and stopped for dinner at Indian head resort. The service was incredibly slow, but our waitress was very nice. We ordered potato skins and they were overcooked. My flatbread pizza seemed frozen and partially Microwaved. I then ordered a salad with steak. I got a small plate with pretty much just lettuce and 4 pieces of steak. That salad was $17. My fiancé felt sick shortly after eating the chipotle chicken sandwich. This restaurant was very over priced and I left hungry! read more

We had take out and breakfast here while staying the night. The food was good, could have been a little better seasoned. The breakfast buffet has amazing crepes stuffed with cream cheese and topped with strawberries. I would eat here again! read more

Unfortunately this was the worst hotel I have stayed at in 30 years - which includes some 3rd world country hotels. The room was a joke - a "cabin" which had an RV sized shower with a dirty, dingy floor. That I could have handled if not for the extremely small bedroom with the double bed (not even a full) up against one wall. The only way 2 people could get into the bed was for one to crawl over the other. The couch made out into a pull out bed and the mattress was thin, dingy, and old. Truly a joke for a room. That being said, the food was spot on for the wedding and the event coordination was pretty good. Too bad they don't step up for the rooms read more

The decor has a nostalgic 70's vibe - which is kind of cool - and has nice views of the pool, fireworks on Friday nights, and opens to the bar with live music. Food however was really bad. Several of our entries were barley touched. Everything seemed undersized and microwaved. I'm not going to waste my time with a painstaking analysts, because I honestly think they just don't try or care. If you are unfortunate enough to have bought their "meal plan" - you're stuck. If not - you are about to be horrendously overpriced for bad food. read more

This hotel is vintage early 80's /late 70's but ya know what, it doesn't take long to grow on you. The staff in the dining room are very attentive, the food is prepared with the same concern, and it shows. This ain't Trump plaza but if you give it a chance you might be surprised at how good of a time you have. We got the "honeymoon suite" haha , no round bed or hot tub in room but the view, u can't beat it. Night swimming in their heated pool was nice, it must cost a fortune to heat that pool all winter! Horrible! They should not call themselves a resort with a dining room like this one. Tonight we stood in a line for fifteen minutes because they could not seat people. We finally get up to the desk and I hear the manager tell the host to seat a group at a certain table because the server has one table going. The line was back to the lobby at this point. At the same time half of the dining room was empty. My wife ask for a seat near a window not hard since their are windows on three sides of the dining room. The manager comes back after five minutes and says it will be a half hour to be seated. At this point apparently the manager of the resort is standing at the desk instead of addressing my concerns she just ignores me and starts taking names. At that point I went to the front desk to register a complaint they were nice but not helpful. Foolishly we had purchased the meal plan this morning so I asked for a refund and was told sure but we had breakfast this morning mediocre at best I would add. So they said sorry we can't give you a refund at that point I asked about the manager and was told that was the rude woman at the dining room desk. At no point did anyone ask for my room number so they could get back to me later to try and do some service recovery. Now to top it off we had dinner in the same dining room the night before my steak was over cooked and dry. My drink was watered down and the best part of my meal was the steamed green beans. Their is no way I would recommend anyone ever try to eat at this so called resort. The accommodations are dated and the service is horrible. With so many other hotels and resorts near by it appears they are living on their reputation. I would say unless the management is changed or they learn about service recovery look elsewhere in this wonderful part of NH. read more

Really amazing pancakes. The short stack is enough (and more) for any normal human being. The excellent and attentive waitress advised me not to get the full order because she's only seen one 25-year-old guy eat the whole thing. Coffee ok. Service great. One complaint : in New Hampshire, maple syrup should be standard. Even if they have to up the overall prices...it seems weird to pay 3.99 for syrup and 4.99 for pancakes!! read more

We checked in Friday, little mistake on reservations but no biggy the gentleman was awesome & fixed it. We planned on staying till Sunday but unfortunate circumstances w/our 10 mo nephew being rushed to hospital out of state & we got the call to come immediately. It was about noon on Sat when I asked front desk receptionist, Amanda, if we can get a refund or since it paid a rain check or etc anything...before she can say a word her manager/supervisor said nope nothing we can do. I tried to explain & Amanda showed great concern & professionalism but her very unprofessional sup/mgr would not hear it & walked away from me. Amanda was apologetic & very sincere. We frequently stay at IHR & send 20-30 ppl to your resort a year. Personally that mgr would be terminated for her rudeness but most of all lack of customer service if she worked for me. Amanda was more than polite, customer service oriented & mgr can learn from her. read more

Omelette had way too much cheese and all the meat was over cooked. Home fries had a peculiar taste like the grease they were fried in was old. Sausage gravy was gravy with link sausage cut up and added after being cooked. Will not eat here again. read more

First the good points: It is convenient to have the restaurant and bar right there on the same property as the rooms. We were able to relax and have a few drinks with dinner without worrying about having to drive. Also dinner was good and the server/bartender was helpful and professional. The problem for me is that the room we stayed in was no better than one of those less expensive motel rooms. It was in serious need of an update. The bathroom was small. For the price we paid for the room, I expected more. We were only there for one night so it was tolerable but we will book at Woodwards next time. The price is similar but the accommodations are far more comfortable. read more

Checked in yesterday 8/23/19 haven't stayed here in several years but it always used to be one of our favorite resorts. However, things have drastically changed since the last time we stayed here. Upon entering the room, it had a very musty smell, which is concerning since my daughter has bad asthma. The room is dingy and in need of a serious update. The wall paper near the door is peeling off, there is a small hole in the wall and the decor is old and tired. For $250 a night this was not what I expected. We consider leaving but after calling other hotels in the area with no rooms available we decided to stick it out....the rooms are clean, right? Well, that's when things took a turn for the worse, we ordered a cot for the room because my kids were fighting about sharing a bed. They brought up the cot right away (thank you) only for us to discover it had a strange smell.....what was the strange smell you ask? Come to find out the previous user of the cot had wet the bed, the fine cleaning staff here at Indian head didn't clean or remove the sheets...instead they made the bed nice and neat and sent a urine soaked cot the next guest! I'm ready to call the board of health for $250 a night this place should be ashamed! We have a wedding in the area tonight so can't leave but trust me you DON'T want to stay here! Save your money and go someplace else! read more

Stayed here many times over the past 3 years and never had an issue. The staff is always friendly, the food is good and the rooms are great for the price. We love staying here and listening to the entertainment in the lounge while drinking cocktails. Very convenient location and even when we aren't staying here, we tend to drop in for a drink or two at the lounge. Very unique place to stay and would highly recommend! read more

Our second stay at Indian Head and the first time we got the meal plan. Don't bother. For breakfast we got the buffet, it was average at best. For dinner I got a dinner special, Maple Bacon Chicken, and the hubby got the peppercorned beef tenderloins. The waitress helped us to decide, so we enjoyed a drink while we waited. So the best thing about the meal was the view of the lake out back. My chicken was dry and the portion was tiny. It came with a few baby carrots and roasted potato wedges. The hubby's beef (2 small slices of beef) was overcooked (well done and the order was for medium rare). He got the same few carrots and roasted potato wedges. I would stay again but never have any of my meals here. We looked around to see if others in the dining room had better meals, and we did not see anything to make us think we were the exception. Also, if we had paid full price for our meals it would have been the last time we stay there for sure. read more

It's a beautiful place to be, but the service live up to it; specifically around lunch time.

Staff at this hotel was far from friendly with the exception of the maintenance man. Front desk help was flat or just rude. We had reserved our room which wasn't ready on time. Told we would be upgraded but that our room may be smaller which it was very small, and finally with a $10 a night increase were given a room that was originally the size we reserved. At check out the front desk tried to charge us a 2nd time for the $10 upgrade fee we paid on arrival. Had to argue to get through and then they realized it was there error. No apologies at all. The rooms and the pool room dressing rooms were not very clean. The best and only good thing we experienced at this hotel was the outside pool and jacuzzi. The indoor pool would have been great but there was so much chlorine you could not sit in that pool or jacuzzi for more than 5 minutes without your eyes burning red. We spoke with many who complained about this problem as well. We hear the food was amazing but this was not something we tried. I would look for other options before returning here read more
