Even though I've lived nearby for a while, I avoided this location because the parking lot always seemed stressful. I eventually realized there's another parking lot around the corner with plenty of space, which made visiting much easier. I've now been twice and both visits have been great. The food has been consistently delicious, and while this location seems a bit more expensive than others, it makes sense given the area. Service has been good each time. I usually order the veggie skillets and they've been excellent. They are definitely my go-to. Overall, I'm glad I finally stopped by and would definitely return.

I don't how to feel about this place , it was decent but overall didn't feel welcoming. The servers were non- chalant and didn't seem too enthusiastic. The food overall for a diner was ok , it tasted less passionate and more let's turn a table. The ambiance was ok , but could've been better.

Standard diner that didn't really distinguish itself from any other. The food was ok and the prices are high. Portions are typical of American restaurants - way too much.

Been here multiple times, most recently got take-out, never disappoint. Has multiple locations around the city. Overall consistent with a traditional dinner. Plenty of option for breakfast and lunch. I typically get the breakfast sandwich which has already been good. You can customize the sandwich in many ways, in terms of bread, meat, and egg style. Service is average, not bad by all means. The ambiance is also average, a typical dinner. There is usually a longer wait in the weekends, but goes by pretty quickly. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is free and can be found in the front with additional parking in the rear.

Average food, good service and diner-like ambience. I got the abuelita skillet - it's more of a hash brown skillet with tons of chillies and very little meat. Avocado piece that came with it was not fresh, nor the bread.

Great spot for a hot breakfast at a fair price. The sausage had amazing flavor and the hash browns were hot and perfectly cooked. I'm always a stickler about coffee and they had some strong, hot coffee! Great breakfast spot!

Fireeee. Haven't been in-person but had it delivered after a sucky night out and it slapped. So yummy, bold flavors, fresh food, and brings so much comfort. Need to make a stop in.

Avocado toast rocked.

Great place!! I didn't know they had so many locations. Good service good food good specials, classic diner vibe.

A pretty solid breakfast with no frills! They also have Mimosas and Bloody Mary's that give you a nice buzz!! I ordered scrambled eggs with onion and cheese, sausage and pancakes. It was good the waiter did forget my cheese. He brought it on the side but of course that didn't help because the cheese didn't melt the way it should have. Parking is right in front of the restaurant.

They were a bit short-staffed that morning, so service was slower than usual, but we weren't in a hurry and the staff remained friendly throughout. I ordered the daily special French toast, added fruit and pecans, plus a side of bacon. The French toast was absolutely massive and could easily be shared. My only complaint was the $3.75 charge for pecans, which felt a little steep for the amount included. Overall, the food was good, the diner atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for, and there's something special about dining in such a historic Chicago institution. If you're visiting the city and don't mind a bit of a wait, Lou Mitchell's is worth experiencing at least once.

We ordered a coffee and a Diet Coke. Our bill was OVER $70. SEVENTY dollars. I always say I believe in paying good money for good food but the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. And this is on top of the city parking you have to pay to eat there. It's just craziness. I will say that the toast was pretty delicious. The server was nice enough. The bathrooms were downstairs and needed attention.

I had the corned beef hash, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, while my husband ordered the Mexican omelet with taco meat, and he couldn't stop talking about how good it was. We also enjoyed an iced coffee and a chocolate shake, both of which were fantastic. Of course, we couldn't resist trying a few extras, so we ordered the chocolate-covered pancakes and potato pancakes for the table. Both were incredible and the perfect addition to our meal. Between the delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and friendly service, this was such a great experience. We will definitely be back the next time we're craving an amazing breakfast or brunch. Highly recommend!

I would assume a place where the newest thing since the 1980s is the security camera would have vinyl with more cracks and patina than my trusty old leather jacket! But no, it's in fantastic shape. Especially given that, the vibe in here is awesome! It's like stepping through a time-portal. For food, I ordered an old favorite: Pigs in Blankets. The food came out fast, though, to be fair, there was only one other person dining in at the time. The sausage links were crisp, and the pancakes were lightly sweet and fluffy. All in all, great! While perhaps not enough to summon the Michelin Guide inspectors, it was better than the average greasy spoon. Finally, I really appreciate that the prices are reasonable, and that there is parking! Final verdict: I've had a small handful of spectacular breakfasts. I've also had criminal breakfasts, where two unsalted eggs, two bacon strips, and a tablespoon of potatoes costs $14.95. Golden House Restaurant & Pancake House finds itself in that sweet spot in between - it is neither a spectacular spot (often have prices to boot), nor is it an overpriced, underwhelming greasy spoon that stays in business thanks to regulars who have been coming for decades and don't want anything better.
