We went here for breakfast on Mother's Day and we had a nice time. I really like the menu at Sunrise as they had all the standard stuff. The service was kind. The place is really nearby us. It's a nice little mom and pop type shop, which I felt good about supporting. So, the food was fine. I would say all of the food was pretty standard fare - maybe there just wasn't anything with oomph to differentiate it from anything else. For example, I think they made their waffles from a standard batter and the syrup was pre-packaged stuff. They only had drip coffee - no espresso-based. There was one bagel option. The quesadilla was also fine. The side of hash were fine. So everything was fine, tbh. Actually, one item that was a cut above average was the tofu scramble. Nice and tasteful. That was definitely the one stand out. Well, overall good visit. Can't complain. Thank you Sunrise! read more

Everything was good just not great. We got the hash, eggs, and pancakes which though tasty, were super small portions. The prices and the ambiance definitely don't match up. It's very no frills which I normally love. Service was really great though, I just wish the portion sizes were larger for what you're getting. read more

If you want a home cooked breakfast, this is the place! It's a little small but even on a Saturday morning it wasn't hard to get a table. The staff is very friendly! If you're looking for adult beverages, it's a BYOB so grab a bottle of champagne at Mariano's across the street and order an OJ! read more

Sunrise is a solid breakfast spot. It was snowy morning and I decided to find something close to my Airbnb to get breakfast. With Sunrise I was able to order directly through the app so that's a plus. We got corned beef hash and eggs with an English muffin, Greek omelette with hashbrowns and pita, and because I didn't wanna choose (like Cardi), chicken fried steak with over easy eggs, hashbrowns and cinnamon raisin toast. Everything was awesome! The chicken fried steak batter was well seasoned and the omelette had strips of gyro meat rolled inside and a healthy amount of feta. What more could you want from a good diner? Crusty, buttered toast, perfectly cooked eggs, and good sized portions for a decent price. Check, check, check. read more

A little Ukrainian Village breakfast spot gem! I had friends in town and we were looking for an awesome breakfast spot to cure our booze blues. We loved the old school diner feel, the food was fantastic, and our server, Celine, was phenomenal with her recommendations, her excitement about our orders, and just overall great service. We actually came here because the original place we intended was unexpectedly closed for an emergency. We were pleasantly surprised how good Sunrise Cafe was. I'm glad the other place was closed! Got the chicken fried steak and eggs. They forgot to put my gravy on the side as requested, but I usually do that because people put too much on. This was a good amount, so was fine. They made up for the mistake anyway by giving us some fresh squeezed orange juice that was divine. Family owned place for a long time with great food and service. The fellow across from us had the best looking fruit and whip cream topped (waffle I think?) I'd ever seen. Hubs liked his stuff too and we both agreed we were happy the 1st place was closed. read more

Top notch service! The server was constantly refilling coffee and water and making sure we had everything we needed. They never let your coffee get cold! I ordered a Sunrise Special, which is a typical american breakfast... Eggs, sausage links, hash browns, pancakes. The other choices for meat were bacon and sausage patties. I think I made the right choice with the sausage links. My over-easy eggs were indeed over-easy. I get annoyed when breakfast restaurants do not get eggs correctly, but not here! The hashbrowns were crispy. The sausage links were bigger than I anticipated. I would prefer the pancakes a little more cooked, but there were still nice and fluffy. Overall I was very pleased with my breakfast and the dining experience there. The dining area is kind of small so it's best for small groups. read more

Got delivery via Yelp via Grubhub, and thankfully it arrived about 15-20 minutes earlier than the estimated delivery window given. Plus one star because I was starving and had a mean country fried steak craving! Ordered chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and corned beef hash with fried eggs, both with wheat toast. The wheat toast was understandably soggy by the time it got to us wrapped in foil but there was enough butter smeared on them to give it a good flavor anyway. Everything was put on aluminium foil in a styrofoam to go containers, so it tended to continue to steam the food inside, making it less fresh or crunchy than it would've been had we gone into the restaurant. The chicken fried steak definitely hit the spot. It would've been better had we gone to the restaurant, but that's to be expected. By the time we got it, it was a bit soggy and didn't have the usual crunch. But the crust's flavor itself was there, the steak inside was tender, the flake on the outside was savory and peppery, and the sausage gravy was a rich and spot-on add. The hash browns were okay, nothing special, and could've used some more seasoning - pepper? The scrambled eggs reminded me a bit of the eggs you used to get on airplanes. The corned beef hash was good. They resemble the corned beef hash you can get out of a can in terms of texture, and while it wasn't as salty as what you get out of a can, it had a pretty good level of salt. The portion for this item wasn't huge so if you've got a big appetite or a big man, this likely won't fill you up. Most all their dishes were in the $11-13 range per plate so that was a good thing. Glad we found this place and that they delivered quickly, looking forward to being able to actually visit their restaurant in person one day! read more

Went here for the very first time with my friend to get some breakfast. It's a five minute walk from the house which is nice, but there is street parking available (meter). Good food with nice atmosphere and service. I had a veggie omelette with hash browns and toast and my friend had a steak skillet. Really good food would definitely return. read more

Came by on a Sunday afternoon with some friends. We were seated right away and they got us started on drinks as soon as we sat down. They're very on top of refills and you'll never find your glass empty! We ordered a chorizo skillet, portabello skillet, eggs benedict, and the countryfried steak. As well as a few sides. The food was delicious! Completely satisfied with both price and portion size. I also appreciated that they were willing to reheat my friends food because she showed up quite late. They leave your bill on the table and you can go up to the register to pay, which is nice because there doesn't have to be a back and forth waiting. Warning: you do have to pay the bill in full, or divide it evenly! So make sure to plan for that when you go. The place was BYOB but we didn't bring anything. Their juices were good and coffee was good as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the nearby area. read more

Wow, sunrise cafe is the most unassuming brunch spot. I find it difficult to branch out for brunch as I've already developed some favorites in the area but am so glad I tried sunrise! Having never ventured in, I thought that the busy dinner style seating at the front was all they had. I was pleasantly surprised when our group was led to the back where there was ample seating and beautiful decorations, especially with the sun motif on the wall. I had the breakfast burrito with egg whites and it was stuffed with guac, cheese and chorizo. The tortilla was soft and chewy. My gf really enjoyed her hash browns and her build her own omelette, especially how they mixed the ingredients within the egg prior to frying. Service was nice and prompt and everyone left happy. Glad Whisk was closed next door because I tried Sunrise and loved it! Great selection breakfast menu with daily specials like avocado toast and roast beef hash. Excellent service and we stayed awhile talking and appreciated the continued service! Large, fresh tasting eggs served to order with hash browns, corned beef hash and toast (which was actually perfectly toasted). Lunch menu looks great, too! Parked right in front! BYOB. Fantastic no frills get what you order cafe. My mom and sisters were in town and I neglected to make brunch reservations anywhere in advance so I went on a search for someplace nearby that could accommodate us on a Sunday morning. I stumbled upon Sunrise and am so glad I did! Five of us were seated right away and we were immediately served our coffee and juice. After ordering the food came very promptly and was delicious. I got the gourmet egg sandwich which comes with ham and gouda cheese as well as hash browns on the side. I only ate half and ended up taking the other half home. They have lots of "regular" breakfast items but also offer Mexican breakfast items as well for those that want something with a bit more pizazz. If you want something more upscale, this isn't the place for you; if you want a diner with delicious food and great service, give Sunrise Cafe a try. read more

I ordered up a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs and turkey sausage, and a side of toast with a tomato slice...and hashbrowns. Crispy crunchy, Not too potatoey, Salted just right, Not too greasy, A fantastic delight. They serve Intelligentsia coffee here. It's not my favorite diner coffee, but I know a lot of other people who like it. Nice waitress. Clean bathrooms. Did I mention great hashbrowns? *Two meals and two cups of coffee for $25. read more

After pressing the skip button from what I believe to be non-tip worthy service, he threw a fit and said "Wow you're serious? After I did all that?" Meanwhile all he did was write names on cups. Now I would understand if he was the barista working hard to pump out the coffees, but two lovely ladies were in the back doing that. He shooed me and my friend out of line as we were still processing what he just said. The next customer orders and he had the audacity to talk about us to them while we're 5 feet away. Delusional as he was, he had the nerve to say we were holding up the line and made him do "all that work", and I could promise you, we knew exactly what we wanted to order the second we got up, and took no longer than 45 seconds. We also witnessed he got into it with another customer, so it seems like he's the problem here. Most wild service I have ever received, all for some milky coffees. I ended up tipping the lovely ladies in the back though. Be warned. There are much better spots.

So after hearing some good things about this place, decided to check it out. Came in on the weekend with a party of four, early afternoon, and the place was filled up, but didn't seem to be a wait. I asked the waitress/hostess if we could put our name on a list and she says she could seat us immediately...(Great,..um where?) She points to a little side door and says, "Go through that little secret passageway, and there's some seats in the back." Really!!, a SECRET PASSAGEWAY....I love secret passageways......just never seem to come across any. We go through the door, down a sparkly gangway to this really cool covered, heated patio which we basically have to ourselves. I'm lovin' it. We order a caraffe of oj, break open the champagne and get down to business. The menu has some interesting options. We got the 3 cheese omelette, tofu omeltte, smokey something, and a jalapeno burger. All were fantastically fantastic. Great food, great service and no corkage fee.. Love this little no-frills diner, super homey and exactly what you want on a lazy weekend morning. I got the country fried steak with eggs, hash browns, and toast, and my friend had the biscuits and gravy. Everything came out hot and fast, and the portions were hefty. I think it's amazing they are carrying Be Hive vegan meats for their new vegan menu. I tried both…read morethe vegan bagel sandwich (with Violife cream cheese yum!) and vegan turkey club couldn't decide which one I loved more! Some tips if you are a vegan ordering from here though...it's not clear on the menu which bread or bagels are vegan. The owner told me the challah and egg washed bagels are NOT vegan so take note when ordering. Also, if you are planning to travel there to eat in rather than taking to-go, there are a few stools you can sit at but seating is quite limited if they get busy. Pre-ordering on their website or app is highly recommended so they don't run out of the vegan options. I'm so happy they added the vegan menu everything I had was delicious!!

This was my…read morefirst time in, but I'll certainly be coming back to try other sandwiches and/or the bagels they offer as well. Service was timely, friendly, and succinct. I stepped up to order a Reuben, and while the 18 dollar price point made me hesitate for just a moment, it was all for naught, as the absolute mountain of meat they brought out just 5 minutes later was everything I'd been hoping for. Hearty, flavorful, and filling as can be, the corned beef will be visiting me in my dreams in the near future. The fresh tangy sauerkraut was like the beam of a lighthouse cutting through a stormy night, guiding me to wherever I needed to be. My only possible complaint was that as I ordered it to-go, the pickle was pre-wrapped, and therefore not actively dripping vinegar. Still a very solid pickle with a satisfying crunch though, so I'll let bygones be bygones. All in all- fantastic. Would recommend. Finished only half of the colossal sandwich so far and will be taking down the other half in an hour or two after a brief respite.
