    Pancake Sandwich
    Joseph L.

Old school diner that's a favorite with The Blunch gang. Friendly waitresses who are always coming by with the coffee pot. BTW the pancake sandwich is on the menu!

Chopped steak with onions and mushrooms, corn and mashed potatoes and gravy.

Had the juiciest chopped steak and delicious mashed potatoes. Great menu. Good portions.

The confusing price sign that's vague.

The place is cute, food wasn't bad, but the pricing was so unprofessional. We ordered about $60 bucks total of food, but our bill was $85 roughly. We asked for explanation, and they said the prices increased due to a sign on the door (that's been there for 6 months apparently). So at this point, the price could've been anything they want (see photo). So all in all, they made up prices, said the menus are old, and didn't really seem to have a clear price point on anything. Had a great time up until the bill, will not be going back.

Food was great! Service was awesome. Windows are so huge and the nice sun rays were warming me up as I enjoyed my meal. Something fast and quick before heading back to work.

Great spot for run of the mill diner food. The sausages are encased which Is how I like it. The eggs are done just right every time. If you're looking for that old school diner food with old school diner feel, this is the spot! Don't come here and complain it's not your typical brunch spot, it's clean enough, and good enough. Great breakfast, lunch items are ok, definitely boomer geared lunch items which are always a familiar and welcomed nostalgia since I have boomer parents. You've got your brown gravys and steamed veggies and such. Get: typical breakfast food Skip: They offer eggs benedict, but definitely skip it. stick to the classics, this isn't the place to get fancy. Suggestion: Don't come here unless you like that diner feeling. DO come here if that's exactly your jam.

They updated the menu. Same variety and still affordable. Friendly service. Sometimes it gets busy, but you can always get a table.

This + coffee was less than $8 :)

I would be doing this neighborhood gem a disservice if I didn't take the time to right the glowing Yelp review it deserves!!!!! Comforting, delicious diner food is super cheap. Staff is super friendly and helpful. You can definitely come here and get yourself a full-ass breakfast for less than $10. I recommend getting the chorizo here if you want to try something other than sausage or bacon with your eggs. Fullerton restaurant, may you live forever

All my life I thought this was a dental office or some. Windows are always blocked by red curtains, and I just recently realized this was a restaurant. It is very good, though! Classic American breakfast and hospitality. Very affordable too, at $6.00-$10.00 range for eggs, bacon and hash.

We love the Fullerton! We are here every other week for breakfast or lunch. The ladies are amazing and always remember our favorites! The food is consistently good and unbeatable prices for dining out. This was my first time having their chix salad sandwich and it was delish! The patty melt is always a favorite too.

2 perfect eggs, bacon, hash browns, raisin toast. $4.95. Boom.

It's a diner not really a restaurant- you know the difference. What makes someplace a good diner is far different than what makes it a good restaurant. This is a good diner. In fact, based on the few breakfasts I've had there, I'd say it's a great diner. The atmosphere consists of small booths and counter space. The view out the window onto Western Avenue can provide some good entertainment over your coffee and scrambled eggs. The breakfast options are plentiful and everything is tasty. Plus, the times I've ordered eggs over easy? They came out over easy not cooked rock solid. Someone is paying attention back there. I like that!! And it's so cheap!! Unheard of pricing for tons of food. You won't leave here hungry. And the service has always been attentive and friendly. Sure, it may not look inviting from the street and I can understand your skepticism. But you're missing out if you don't venture in. I know I'll keep going back.

The menu is filled with many of the typical diner favs and what they're known for is they bake their own breads, so I knew I needed to try that. Soon after sitting down, our server brought us a homemade donut hole with a slice of orange. That donut hole was so very tasty! I also got unsweetened iced tea to drink and that was freshly made and also tasted great. For my entrée, I opted for their open face tuna sandwich, which has melted American cheese on top of it and the combo of the tuna, cheese, and their amazing bread was so very good! The tuna is definitely not your ordinary tuna from a restaurant, it's high-quality, thick pieces and hardly has any mayo in it. And this portion was HUGE! I couldn't eat it all. It came with their homemade fries and cole slaw - the cole slaw was excellent and the fries were pretty good, sort of "homestyle breakfast potato" type of flavor, but a big, thick, square, beautiful fry, it just was a little soft, not very crunchy... it was very good though. Overall, we all loved what we got - would definitely return!

They were a bit short-staffed that morning, so service was slower than usual, but we weren't in a hurry and the staff remained friendly throughout. I ordered the daily special French toast, added fruit and pecans, plus a side of bacon. The French toast was absolutely massive and could easily be shared. My only complaint was the $3.75 charge for pecans, which felt a little steep for the amount included. Overall, the food was good, the diner atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for, and there's something special about dining in such a historic Chicago institution. If you're visiting the city and don't mind a bit of a wait, Lou Mitchell's is worth experiencing at least once.

Ed Debevic's opened on Wells Street in 1984, ran 31 years, went dark in 2015 when the building came down, and came back in 2021 on Ohio Street in Streeterville. Same bit, new address, and a very easy walk from the Michigan Avenue hotels. The premise has never changed: the servers play characters, the sass is the entertainment, and the room is full 1952 fever dream, jukeboxes on the tables, chrome and neon everywhere. The food is better than the gimmick needs it to be, which is the part people do not expect. I had the Early Bird Sandwich. Southern fried chicken, bacon, an over easy egg, cheddar, avocado and spicy mayo on a bun. It is enormous, it has just enough heat to keep you interested, and it was flat out delicious. That sandwich alone is worth walking over for. The coffee was legitimately good too, not the sad refill you brace for in a theme diner. Tara had the Two Eggs Any Style and her whole plate was perfect. Eggs cooked exactly the way she asked, bacon properly crisp, nothing to fix. She asked for the crispy bacon up front and our waitress complained about the request loudly enough for the neighboring tables to enjoy it, then brought it out crispy anyway. That is the trick of this place. The attitude is theater, the cooking is not. One honest heads up for future guests: the hash browns come out plain and they need help. Add cheese, add onions and peppers, add anything. On their own they were the only dull thing on the table. I want to give the staff real credit, because what they do is harder than it looks. Playing rude on purpose while running a busy dining room, reading which tables want to be roasted and which ones want to be left alone, and keeping it warm underneath the whole time takes talent and stamina. Ours was excellent at it and we laughed the entire meal. Two practical notes. We walked in early on a Saturday and sat down with no wait at all, so go early if you would rather not queue. And the legend is that the staff climb up on the soda counter for a dance number. We did not get one, and I am choosing to take that personally. Their sign says that if you are easily offended you should probably eat somewhere else. Believe them. If a server telling you the food is somewhere else sounds miserable, this is not your place and no hard feelings. If it sounds like a good time, you will have more fun over breakfast here than most restaurants manage over dinner. Five stars. Get the Early Bird, doctor the hash browns, and bring your sense of humor. We will be back, and next time I am asking a dumber question just to see what she does with it.

Hard to describe but you just know you're at a very important place but that doesn't take itself too seriously. There are burgers that are good, burgers that are great, and then there's Au Cheval. I went in with pretty ridiculous expectations considering this place has been called one of the best burger spots in the world...and somehow, the burger still delivered. That's rare. The patties were insanely juicy and perfectly cooked, with that beautiful crispy, caramelized edge you want from a great griddle burger. The combination of the melted cheese, creamy sauce, onions, pickles and that ridiculously buttery brioche bun was borderline unfair. Rich, messy, salty, savory and completely indulgent in the best possible way. And that bun deserves its own mention. Soft enough to absorb all that glorious burger juice without completely falling apart. The whole thing is constructed like someone actually understands what makes a burger great. Is it the best burger I've ever had? I DONT FUCKING KNOW. but I completely understand why people put Au Cheval in the conversation for best burger in America, if not the world. The hype is real.
