We hired CPR pools to completely redo our pool. We purchased a home which had an existing pool, but needed a major overhual. We needed new plumbing, electrical, gas line, equipment, and plastering. I could tell from the beginning after meeting with Robert that he was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. The price they offered us was reasonable and considering the amount of work needed for our pool we were very happy. They worked with our timeline, gave us no pressure, and did what they promised to do. Jan helped us pick out tile and Pebble Stone we used and it all came out beautifully. They can get busy at times so may take a bit for them to get back to you if you have a question but they always do get back to you. Signed a contract in April 4th suppose to finish by June 15 . Nice nothing been done and no permits issued and $20000 cashed and spend on a vacation in Europe On June 18 he got caught with all his lies and what , he called me all the F words and quit the job. On the 19 requests for me to sign a new contract with $7000 extra on the contract for same job . I agreed that pool will be done in 2 weeks. June 24 permit issued and he wanted to pour concrete without having inspections, how nice, smart contractor. I did stop him , he got mad after that for a month one day a week they show up for a small thing to do and a text or email request to sign for extra$ for extra work. We did but one month still same thing. Putting the blame on the pavers or materials need to be ordered or inspections required all is just a story. Contract was $37000 changed to 41750 then to 47500 then close 55000 . When I did ask what is going on Jan his wife responded Having dinner not the same price like a la carte He is the biggest thief, crook, I ever met Even all his subcontractors they did talk bad about him But they are scared to say a word because he owes them money. We had an efficient, smooth and quick experience with CPR, Jan, and Robert. Replumbing, replastering and retiling was done in under two weeks with minimal fuss/mess. Communication was just fine, with calls returned promptly and direct access to Roberts cell phone, even on the weekend and while he was on vacation. I even got follow up cells when I failed to return messages. We haven't tested the pool out yet, (still in start up phase) but if my experience so far means anything I'm sure we won't have any issues. Thanks CPR! Called year or so after my pool was completed and asked a question about a light in a pool and something with my pump. They came out and took care of the questions I had. All having nothing to do with their job and took care of everything. It turned out that what I was asking about had nothing to do with their original job. And they upgraded me to what I wanted. I believe they lost money I giving me what I wanted. But this is why they are the best! There work is 100% but they are with you always. That's old style personal care. We would never use any other company for our pool, spa or pavers or back yard or for that matter our front yard. I apologize for the length but I am just so pleased, nowadays to find any company, in any industry that cares about any customer, especially after the sale. Oh my Lord. Read all the 1 star reviews. SHORT version: This "company" consists of just one rich guy who passes out a bottle of cheap wine at the end of the installation after he's collected your money and the poor workers, have finished working for him. His wife, Jan, apparently is hired to ignore the phones and send out grade-school quality invoices made with Quicken, with no accounting knowledge or details other than a big round price tag. Quality of work depends on which incompetent person Robert hires on the side to do your job. I got some real bad ones. LONG version: I will report to their bond company, the state board of equalization (they don't even file sales tax returns for products they resell), and my lawyer. But I will give you a few details. If you want to skip it, just look at the picture. That's their "finished" installation of my $6600 bill. Pool Pump, filter, salt water chlorinator and automation installed to turn the pool on / off remotely, change to spa, handle lights, etc. I've had pumps and heaters etc done before by Leslie's, and boy did I make a big mistake trusting CPR for this. Simple installation for a company claiming to be "high end" right? Nope. Wrong equipment ordered and installed: Filter wrong size, wrong control center, wrong wireless setup, completely messy work even my 8 year old scoffed at. System was a variable speed pump wired to run only at high speed. Automation wouldn't work because it was wired incorrectly. They ruined my pool lights and put them on a single circuit instead of the previous two separate ones. Chlorinator wired incorrectly. Physical equipped installed horribly, at angles, hanging off the wall. Screws dropped in my heater's vent, and the installer was clueless about all of it and said he'd come back and fix it. So did Jan. So did Robert. This was in the middle of the summer. Its December now. 5 months. Reflecting on all of your complaints about communication that's the bottom line. I'm a nice guy, had no problem with the inflated pricing, but come on... DO GOOD WORK. Even after I reported all of the above, it took TWO MONTHS to get a response. Even then Robert said he was sorry and to pay what labor I thought was fair. Considering I spent 12 plus hours on the phone with Pentair REWIRING THE ENTIRE SETUP CORRECTLY, all documented, I wasn't really keen on paying them anything. But Robert said he'd deal with the electrical and address things. Never happened. And that's the thing... you don't want to be a customer with a problem as they are gone gone gone once done. They don't fix their problems, they feel entitled and continue sending me balance due notices for the labor portion I refuse to pay. I mean, come on, they didn't install anything correctly at all ... and given 5 months to resolve, never did! I was nice enough to pay them the hardware portion, inflated at $4385.61, and wish I hadn't. Headaches, blowing breakers in my kitchen daily, not working during the height of summer. Shame on you guys. I couldn't use the stove or microwave if the pool was running, otherwise everything popped off. I feel so sorry for the workers. Even my incompetent pool guy complained they under pay (under the table anyone?). He got $200 or so to do everything, and the quality of work showed. Meanwhile Robert & Jan Pools Inc want almost $2700 for that single day of installation. Which was 5 hours. All I ever did was ask them to fix the problems they created. Normal for any business who slips up. But the arrogance of them not responding is truly telltale at the end of the day. I gave them half a year to resolve, and it never happened. Side note: Anyone at Pentair answering the phone knows more about this equipment than they do. Pentair techs literally told me they felt sorry for me and couldn't believe how incorrectly things were wired. I could go on an on.... but at the end of the day, just look at this picture. Stay away, otherwise you're just rolling the dice here. Stick with a company you have recourse with, like Leslie's or someone else. I may not like Leslie's, but having worked with them for the previous 20 years, I can tell you I've changed my mind about them. There are a LOT worse Pool companies out there. Thanks Robert and Jan for teaching me that lesson. On the flip side I now know more about the equipment than they do, and Pentair support was spectacular. Highly recommend their equipment if you can find someone mildly familiar with installing it. You won't find that here. read more

WE have a fiberglass pool that needed resurfacing. After speaking with a few companies we chose Complete Pool & Spa Restoration for resurfacing the pool and we're glad we did. While there was a problem with the first appointment we chose them. Jan was very responsive and kept us informed of what was happening and when. Robert also stayed in touch and gave us an information e-mail/sheet that provided care instructions to keep the pool surface looking good. "The guys" who prepped and resurfaced the pool did an excellent job. They spent a great deal of time prepping the surface and made sure they cleaned up at the end of each day. The pool looks great. We had them change out the pump & filter equipment and install the pool hand rail (in the picture). That review is still forthcoming as we ran into a "snag" that hasn't been entirely resolved. But I would highly recommend them for pool resurfacing and would definitely use them again. read more

We changed from white plaster to tropics blue mini-pebble, with new tile, coping, and pavers (replacing existing concrete) for the deck. Jan patiently helped us with our selection of material. This was the hardest part, as there is no way to know exactly what it will look like until the work is done. Even then, the color looks different depending on factors such as depth and sunlight. Robert's estimate was one of three we got. Not only was it competitively priced, but he also mentioned a DWP rebate to help defray the cost of a new pump. No one from any other company offered that information. The workmen were pleasant, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. We are thrilled with the look of our new pool and deck! The entire project (once we made up our minds about materials) took about two weeks. We are completely satisfied with the people, product, and value from Complete Pool & Spa and would choose them again if we had it to do over. read more

Maybe they do good work, maybe they don't. My advice to you is do not pay them a cent until the workers are in your yard ready to begin. I contracted with them at the very beginning of June and was given excuses week after week about why it wasn't getting started. Two weeks before the 4th of July I was told it would definitely start July 9th. Again more excuses and lies. At that point I cancelled the contract and had to go to their mail stop ( they don't really have an office) and get my check. The response from the owner was "I'm sorry it didn't work out". We hired Complete Pool & Spa Restoration to replaster, replace most of the plumbing and all of the equipment. From start to finish, they were on point and the pool is fully functional and was finished beautifully. They even recommended a great pool man for regular service since we were out of their outgoing service area. After the job was finished, Robert delivered us a couple bottles of nice wine with the bill. Classy, loved it. They were a pleasure to work with from the beginning to the end of the contracted service. I got a little ticked off with them when we had one of their new LED pool lights go out a couple months after they installed it (they're supposed to last for years!). I called, left a message with a woman in the office, asked them to come out and fix it. Didn't hear from anyone over a week, called again and left a stern voicemail and was about to leave a negative review because I interpreted it as "we're done and no longer helping you." Finally get the call from Robert that they'll come look at it. It took about two months to get the light fixed from my first phone call to them. One day I come back to find out it was fixed. They said it was an electrical issue that they didn't cause. Fine... I'm very reasonable, the pool is a half-century old and I believe them. However, the pool light switches are in the house. They wired a new switch outside by the pool equipment (not very convenient), so that leaves us with one switch inside for one side of the pool and one switch outside for the other. Awkward. I emailed them after receiving a bill for the electrical work that has gone unanswered, asking why they didn't wire it to the switch inside the house. The same bill also included a charge for filler (to close the gap for the new coping they installed) which is weird. Why wouldn't that be included originally? Nobody wants a gap that big on the ground. Long story short... fair priced, Great work. Terrible communication once they're done with you. I actually would like to hire them again for the new house I just purchased but I'm torn. read more

When I was finally called back and Robert came to my house I was pleasantly surprised with his recommendation. Unlike two other contractors who said I need to remove all the coping and tile to fix my cracked coping, Robert said I only need to replace the coping that was damaged and I could put off the other work. HOWEVER, when I contacted them to schedule the work to get done, I NEVER HEARD BACK. I e-mailed and called several times -- and said if the job is too small or they are too busy, just let me know. NOTHING. Quite frustrating. Now I don't who to contact to get the work done. After reading all the great reviews I was quite disappointed that they could not just take the few minutes to respond. UPDATE: I did eventually hear back. The workers did a great job and the area where the coping was replaced cannot be distinguished from our original coping. The pricing was very fair and overall I am very pleased with the work and would use them again. read more

We had spent about 3 months looking to re-gel our fiberglass pool and had contacted over 40 different companies all to no avail (most of them didn't even have the slightest idea how to deal with a fiberglass pool). Everyone I contacted gave me a different solution as to what they recommend to do with no logical explanation behind it. Our original consultation with Robert from Complete Pool & Spa Restoration however was something different. When I met with Robert for the first time he gave his proposal as to what needs to be done and explained in great detail why and how and what the alternate options were and why what he originally proposed was the best solution. I had received so much information that I felt like I was a pro myself! Then Robert did something that we had never in the past 20+ years of working with people seen or heard of... he told us which one of his competitors we should go with if we chose not to go with him and why he would recommend them. I was shocked... the people who work only for money would never refer you to their competitors if you chose not to go with them and most of them talk down their competitors but you could tell Robert really cared about the job and the money was not his main objective at all. He just wanted the job done right and that, along with the thorough explanation of the details in the resurfacing was enough for us to make up our minds and go with Complete Pool & Spa Restoration. The entire consultation was just a breath of fresh air. Then began the job, we were scheduled promptly and his crew came in and began. All in all it was about a week and a half job and they worked quickly. The crew was also great, they cleaned the entire backyard after they were done every day (all the dust from sanding the pool), packed their tools and repeated the same procedure the next day. If there was ever an issue, the crew, Robert, Jan or Jimmy would quickly address the issue and move forward. There were no hiccups in the procedure and everything went smoothly. If we had any questions or needed an opinion (tile color and placement, grout color, etc.) Jan was just a phone call away and provided expertise advice on what she would recommend. The end result was a beautiful fiberglass pool, new tiles at a price no one could beat! However, what mattered most to us was the delivery and customer service we received which was unparalleled to anyone else we've worked with.
