Thank goodness I have been to several other Cracker Barrel restaurants, because if this was the only one I went to, I wouldn't ever go again. We were on vacation and driving through and stopped at this restaurant for lunch. We had to wait quite a while for our waitress to take our order, but they seemed fairly busy. After we ordered, again, we had quite a wait for our food. Our waitress forgot to bring (or perhaps order?) the fries my husband ordered as a side. When asked, she said she would be right back with the fries. We waited and watched her go from table to table, chatting with locals and community members. Then she passed our table and said she would come back with the fries. She again disappeared, and reemerged and went to socialize with other tables. She eventually brought the fries. Although my meal was hot (chicken and dumplings, fried apples, and broccoli), my husband's wasn't (chicken tenders, fried apples, mashed potatoes). The fries, when delivered, were the only part of his meal that was hot. Near the end of the meal, the waitress appeared and came over to refill our teas. She correctly identified mine as unsweet and my husband's as sweet topped both off. Unfortunately, she topped off both of ours with the wrong kind of tea. Unless you are a local, do not go to this Cracker Barrel that is just off the interstate. You will be forgotten about and ignored if you are passing through. read more

I have recently began to work Cracker Barrel back into a semi rotation again after more than four years. They have been much better. But this store left me disappointed. Service up front at the hostess was efficient and seated immediately with menus. Our waitress came by for drink orders which both got waters. After ordering a few minutes later still no water. The waitress was very pleasant and smiled which I loved the attitude, I could see our waitress took orders, bussed tables and later found out prepped salads. So no surprise the waters took around ten minutes. We thought bread would hit the table before, but we did not ask. My salad came out quickly and was very good. Our food came out after around 30 minutes. My wife's grilled chicken strips and mashed potatoes looked great and she confirmed it was. My Smokehouse grilled chicken however was awful and obviously not prepared correctly. The tomatoes side also awful. The okra was not something I even ordered or liked. The waitress could not be found for around ten minutes, then she did a table check. She then acknowledged it was not prepared correctly. I told her I needed to leave and she asked for a minute to talk to the manager and took the plate. Once she returned there was an apology and gift card for another visit. The manager also comped the meal. I felt it was handled properly, but left hungry. I'm at a 2.5 and rounding up with one meal correct and good. After hurricane Helene washed away part of I-40, we went through West Virginia on our way to South Carolina. When we stopped driving after work, Cracker Barrel seemed the best place to get some vegetables with our meal and I was not disappointed. My original idea was to get a vegetable plate but Hubby ordered the grilled rainbow trout and it sounded so good I changed my mind! He had two pieces with macaroni and cheese and green beans, while I had one piece of trout with steamed broccoli and carrots. Our server told us that the one piece trout meal is being discontinued but it was still available that night. Also she wasn't sure if they had any broccoli besides the broccoli casserole, but she found some for me. We both enjoyed our grilled trout and I got some of the vegetables that I wanted. On vacation travel with our two youngest grandchildren and we hit up this Cracker Barrel as it was an easy walk from our hotel. It was after 8pm, undoubtedly at the end of their dinner service. Our server was Karressa. She was very attentive to us, dropped off waters for all and menus, giving us time to make decisions. We played with the little peg games after deciding on dinner choices. The children each ordered the hot chocolate, which they love, and one had the grilled cheese and fries and the other had the chicken tenders dinner. My wife had the Sheppard Pie and I had the Shrimp Skillet. Of course the kids loved their food but our adult food was not the best we have ever had at the Cracker Barrel. It was OK, but too often restaurants forget to properly season the food leaving the customer holding the bag. With adult children in the food service industry, and they have told stories, we hesitate to send back food not knowing how the kitchen staff will react. Anyhow we paid the tab and tipped Karressa appropriately, bought two bags of soft peppermint sticks, and went out the door. So, dinner was successful, though somewhat disappointing. We are generally fans of CB and this will not keep us away but management should keep a close eye the product that the kitchen is turning out to the customer. On our long road trip from Toronto to South Carolina, we stopped in West Virginia and lunched at the Cracker Barrel. Super friendly staff and attached to the cutest, well stocked souvenir shop! The menu was extensive with amazing items! We did find the food a bit 'cafeteria like', being a bit sloppy, salty and mushy. Some things overcooked and some things undercooked. I'd go more for the store than the food. A good experience but not a repeat visit. read more

On 1-4-26 at approx 1:30pm we stopped here while traveling to Indiana. I was told it would be a 20 minute wait but we were seated after about 10 or 15 minutes. Our waitress was excellent and the food was great although they were a little light on the french fries with my husband's burger. The problem was when we went to pay. My husband is a military veteran and I have the Cracker Barrel app, so we asked for the military discount I don't understand why the young girl at the next cash register was extremely rude yelling across the line of customers that we could not get the discount without it being in the app. I've had locations give the discount from his id but I wasn't given the discount here. I was not aware that it had to be downloaded into the app and I will be doing that asap when I get home. We travel through this area quite a bit and I will never be back to this location. It wasn't so much the discount problem, but the way she was yelling at us around all the customers. She was making a big scene on a Sunday afternoon when they were really busy. I love Cracker Barrel, on vacation I search for this business as a staple, Dennys as a 2nd. It breaks my heart with this review, Beckley WV is the restaurant to stay AWAY from. Management, Cooks, I don't know. While I love the location, Front of Service Staff and Waitresses, and business Model of the company, the food at the end of the day was not what was expected. What happened? the food was horrible and un eatable. A Chief can have a bad day, that's understandable. The past 5 times within 2 months means someone has given up, or don't care anymore. I love the Chain, love the food, well most of it, the business Model of food and shop and it pains me to have to write this. As of 12/24... Stay AWAY until they have the chance to renew their COOKS. I also enjoy shopping while waiting for my food and have bought several women's tops and Leanin' tree cards here. Since it was Friday, my husband and I both had fish specials: I had the fish and shrimp combo, and he had all fish. You can affect the calorie count greatly by the sides you choose. I had steamed broccoli and fried apples, his sides were French Fries and Cole Slaw. The waiter brought corn muffins and biscuits with our drinks before we ever ordered. Our waiter was busy with a large table once our order was ready, so someone else delivered it to be sure we got it still warm. We appreciated that. We'll be back! read more

We had a table of 9 and food came out hot and tasted good. We got the pancakes with bacon, ham and sausage. We also ordered French toast and southern half and half. (The door was not locked) I said, it says you are open till 10pm online. 2nd person "Well that's not true". I said ok well you should change the times online. "We aren't able to do that." all the first person had to do was say sorry but we actually close at 9pm and I would have said ok. This is the 20th time they messed up syrup, might as well give me the recipe so I can make it myself since they have short term memory loss. This time we also requested extra ranch for a salad that had no croutons. Didn't get that either. I'm willing to pay extra to have what I request. We called to complain and they didn't even apologize, kind of acted like we were bothering them. Well let me tell you my teenage boy is extremely bothered to have cold pancakes. When we went back to get the 3 syrups we requested still got no apology and then they tried to give us 2 because the girl didn't want to walk back to the kitchen to get another one. Great place, excellent food, friendly staff This restaurant is located off Harper road in Beckly off the north side of the I-64 Harper road intersection. It is on the north side of Harper road behind the Country Inn and suites. As with most Cracker Barrell Restaurants, there is parking on at least 3 sides of this location with RV parking as you first enter to the east of the site. The front has rocking chairs along the porch. There is a gift shop as you first walk in. You check-in at the counter. We were seated quickly and they were not very busy. We had a seat by the window. The waitress was very pleasant and took our drink order within a minute of our being seated. She was very attentive and responsive throughout the meal. We were there for breakfast and I got the pancakes with bacon (and extra syrup) and a tea. My partner got an egg breakfast and we tried the Biscuit Beignets. The food came out quickly. The meals were very good but I was not a fan of the biscuit Beignets. Prices seemed a little higher than the Cracker barrel that I am used to. The price for a meal and drinks for the 2 of us was $27 before the tip. You pay at the counter in the gift shop with whatever other things you may have picked up in the shop. The person who checked us out was very pleasant and helpful. Overall, a very pleasant eating experience that I would recommend for my hungry fellow travelers. read more

My order was a pickup order, I was so looking forward to a nice chicken dumpling meal. The cashiers were very pleasant. I love the store and all of the odd tchotchkes that they sell. But when I got my meal home, I was very disappointed. The portion looked fine but when I dove in it was one huge dumpling that wasn't completely cooked/raw inside and some chicken that wasn't bad. I guess where the price of food is so expensive we just really can't afford to waste our money on such horrible meals.
