I'm very happy they haven't changed the look of this location. I have been coming here since I was in high school and usually come here once when I visit. Service was really nice she made sure and let us know she has only been a waitress for two weeks. I think she did a great job. I will say the only complaint is the menu is all over the place. Pretty much the same. This order was picked up so I don't have pictures of restaurant. We ordered a Family meal for 5. We ordered the 3 meatloaf and 2 person chicken tenders fried(10 total). We chose Loaded Hash brown Casserole and Mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Biscuits were also included. Everything was pretty standard for Cracker Barrell as one would expect-that's why we go. Ol' C.B...not much to report here. My other joint (Troy's Diner)'s line was out the door with it being App State's first week back in session. Boone has been an absolute mad house dumpster fire all week. So I landed at Cracker Barrel since it is easy to turn into and I found a parking spot close to the front door. Anyway, chose a veggie plate over breakfast, even the guy beside me had pancakes that looked good. Fried okra, Luke warm mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese were rounded out by a big bowl of creamy coleslaw (which I didn't want but the option I got came with four sides.) Small portion of Mac and cheese was the only thing that was hot and the okra has some inevitable cold stringy ones that I had to discard of. I'd say the teeny biscuit(s) and the tea were good but the stupid glass and a half of tea I got cost $3.69! If I ever go back I'll stick with water. Should have left after waiting 10 minutes just to order drinks when there were 3 waiter/waitress just standing there. One kids meal was wrong, hamburger steak was burnt, and mash potatoes literally tasted like dirt(rinse the potatoes before mashing them). We brought the Sprinter up to the North Carolina mountains and spent the night in their parking lot. Arriving not too late in the evening but not hungry, we took a look through the store and bought a few lemon sugar sticks after visiting the clean restrooms. While the wait staff was amazing, even though she had worked 15 hour days all weekend she was still kind and attentive. The food on the other hand was inedible. The Louisiana Shrimp Skillet was overly salted, the biscuits and cornbread were under cooked, the hash brown casserole must have been prepared in a bowl directly from the sink because the taste of soap was immediately noticeable. If I could give 0 stars I would. The staff were all very friendly but the food was the worst food I've ever eaten. I'm not sure our chicken was entirely cooked through. The okra was so fried it was just a crisp each bite. The green beans were tough and tasted old and musty. The grits the kids had tasted old, cold and very lumpy. From the very start, our waiter, Reagan, had a bit of an attitude when helping us. Out of the gate she was not pleasant. We waited about 40 minutes for our entrees, and when we asked (nicely) what the hold up was, she lost her cool and said that it was because our party had 5 people. That shouldn't mean anything, because parties that came in after us got their food before us. If this wasn't enough, when she was serving a table right next to us, she'd apparently given them something extra and said (so we could hear): "this is what you get when you're kind," which seems extremely childish. This Cracker Barrel restaurant is on point! We used the waitlist and were seated immediately during busy Sunday lunch. Our server was Bailey. Absolutely the best server we had ever had. We travel and always go to a Cracker Barrel on a trip. She took our drink order, came back with hot biscuits and plates. Told us cornbread still baking. Took our food order, less than 5-10 minutes, our hot food arrived. Order was perfect and delicious. And came she came back shortly with hot cornbread. She checked on us but was not intrusive. Went to visit my mom for Mother's Day in Boone NC and she always chooses Cracker Barrel whenever we go out. It's consistent, delicious, a great price and so much food! First time to not cook Thanksgiving, I wouldn't do that again. It was extremely crowded, chose to take home instead of 2 hour wait. To their credit they were fast and handling the crowd great. On this morning we were served by River B., a four star apron-ed, experienced and very nice wait person. I had the bacon and hash brown breakfast with two eggs ($9.29). The hash browns were LOADED with cheese and although they regularly do scrambled eggs with this dish, I asked for and got my eggs over medium. Yum-a-liscous. I ventured up the mountain to Boone to look at the leaves and pick up some apples and cider. In the cold rain, I visited this Cracker Barrel for a hot cup of coffee and a good meal. Fish Friday is always a good time to visit Cracker Barrel. Madison provided outstanding service. The fish was amazing! I enjoyed a great meal.
