I ate here a few weeks ago ordering the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. I did get my food quickly and I think that was part of the problem with the food. When I started eating the meat loaf I found it was room temperature. It actually tasted good so I didn't worry about it. It became colder as I dug into the middle as if it had not been heated at all. I had eaten about half the dish when I decided to try the mashed potatoes. They were very cold as if they had not been heated in any way. I told my waitress. She apologized and suddenly the manager was at my table. While he was friendly enough the way the conversation started struck me as he was already on the defensive. It was something in his body language and tone that made me feel uncomfortable. I explained the problem and he apologized and told me the steam table must not be working. He made sure a fresh plate of food was replaced. When I told him that is all I wanted was fresh food his attitude changed. He relaxed and seemed more genuine. I had the feeling he thought I was going to try and push for a free meal. I was only looking for what I ordered.. nothing more. My waitress took my drink off my check though I insisted there was no reason to do that as a fresh plate of food was brought in place of the other. When I left the waitress brought out a free desert to go and apologized again. Because of her caring nature I'm leaving this a four star. The food was very good. I saw a quick review someone else left and they were also complaining their food was served cold. I've never had that problem at a cracker barrel in the past. Maybe it's something management needs to pay more attention to if it's a recurring complaint. read more

I have never been disappointed in a visit to Cracker Barrel before,but a 45 minute wait is ridiculous.The the manager tells us it was because it got busy at lunchtime.well should they not been prepared for that.this experience has soured me and all of the people in my circle towards Cracker Barrel.then when the meal finally came it was stone cold.then the manager said that she would comp.the drinks.I got fed up and walked out.I will never go back to Cracker Barrel again.if I could give negative stars I would. read more

I was on a family trip and as usual we decided to go typical for breakfast and try Cracker Barrel. I typically eat healthier options than that, but it's very convenient for a bigger group. The menu is of course predictable. I dont care for pancakes or other starchy options, soI am glad I asked about omlettes. They do make them, even though they are not on the menu. An egg white omlette with mushrooms and tomatoes did the trick. The coffee was decent too, and better without sugar than with. I always will get anoyed with places that don't care sugar in the raw as a sweetner option. Cracker Barrel also gains my contempt for this. It is frustrating to order coffee and then realize the two awful sweetner choices are refined table sugar or splenda. No thank you. Overall it was fine so I think four stars will suffice. read more

So the food at Cracker Barrel is almost always good and what you expect. I have been a customer of the chain for over 25 years. And there are certain things you expect such as being crowded @ lunch time. Today we arrived, got seated quickly as the crowd was lower than normal. At 12:44 we placed our orders from the fast menu selections listed on the board. At 1:15, I asked the manager as he passed by about our order. Said he would on it. Came back and said we are on it. Ten minutes later our food finally arrives. We waited 35 minutes for the fast menu! I am complaining because I wanted a discount. I specifically ordered off the quicker selection list as I needed to get back to work. I wasn't the customer there whim mentioned it took an abnormally long time to their food, yet the staff didn't seem to care. Very frustrating. read more

Always pleased. Pancakes are old fashioned, no glitz & glamor...just hearty and good. My eggs we perfectly prepared (whites only fried hard). Most places can't seem to get it right. Was very surprised that they carry English Breakfast tea. We love those little bottles of hot maple syrup. Lost one star because hot water pot only stores enough for 1 cup of tea and although really good and flavorful, the smoked sausage patties are really small...like silver dollar pancakes. Our waitress was really nice and attentive...sorry I can't remember her name. read more

I have tried CB in many different locations. I'm still waiting for my first pleasant experience. Either the service or the food is horrible. I guess you can't have both. One morning at breakfast, I had to wait 45 minutes to get someone to let me pay for my breakfast. There was no cashier despite several attempts to get the manager to get someone up there. Placed a to go order and was told it would take 15-20 minutes. I sent husband to pick it up and he waited 40 minutes before he lost his patience. It took them 3 calls to the back to get through to see if my order was ready yet, then an employee came out asking what we ordered. My husband was so upset that he told them to cancel it, but then the food came out and the line to get a refund was ridiculous because there was only one cashier. I see why now they make you pay first. So disappointed. This place really needs to get their things together. I already called and spoke with corporate and explained the situation. I waited two weeks for a follow up to my complaint. I had to reach out again to get a resolution only to have the representative tell me she never did anything with my complaint. I am highly disappointed with the representation of the company all around. I loved coming to the restaurant in the past, however it has seriously had a decline in quality of customer service. We've eaten at Cracker Barrel's in many places but the one in Dothan is the best of all of them, i think. Our favorite dish is the grilled trout but the grilled pork chops are also very tasty. I also like that they bake the sweet potatoes (not microwave like some other places). Staff is also friendly. read more

We typically love to eat at Cracker Barrel as we travel back and forth from Florida to Wisconsin. However, this one did not come close to the high standards we normally find. There were mix ups with the order and the floor in the restaurant was dirty and messy. The men's restroom was nasty. The only positive was the food was typical Cracker Barrel. read more

I would have given this place a 5 star review if it wasnt for the service. I will say this is the most busiest Cracker Barrel ive ever seen. Does not matter what time of day, its always packed. This Cracker Barrel needs to buy a new dishwasher - NOW. Every time we eat there the silverware is dirty, spotty and sometimes even has bits of food or paper stuck to it. If the dishwasher is not getting off what I can see, then what about the germs I can't see? I have no faith the silverware is getting sanitized. Apparently the health inspector doesn't have a problem with this since he gave them a 90 in late July. But I have a problem with it. If you can't even manage clean silverware, I am not eating in your restaurant! read more

I've always been a fan of Cracker Barrel for their breakfast menu so I decided to give their dinner menu a try and I was not dissappointed. The Dothan location is clean, service is fast & friendly. I ordered the Chicken and Dumplings plate with mac & cheese, green beans, and their signature hashbrown casserole. The food was delicious! The chicken and dumplings was piping hot, creamy and seasoned well and the sides were all fresh and tasty. If you're looking for a comforting breakfast or dinner, this is the place! read more

Had breakfast here this morning. Food was below average. Grits and hash browns tasted like they were made up way ahead of time then nuked. Gravey for biscuits didn't have much flavor. Best item was the fried apples. Coffee was $2.39 each. So the bill for two adults and one child came to $35.00. Service was very good. So with tip over $40.00 breakfast. Then had to wait in line with only one register open for almost ten minutes to pay. Our grandson likes Cracker Barrel but I won't be back. read more

Every meal has been great, and when I am really hungry for a full meal, this is where I go. Portions are extravagant and delicious, from salads to desserts. I have never had a bad meal at this Cracker Barrel. The food is not designed to be particularly healthful, but is totally flavorful. The biscuits melt in your mouth, and the cornbread is well above average. Probably the best meal is breakfast, which is a huge production with tremendous portions. The bacon is thick and crisp. The ham (country or city) is pure flavor. The eggs (three) come just as ordered, along with your choice of potatoes, grits, pancakes, toast, etc. All-in-all, this is a fine place to eat anytime, and whenever you go, your tastes will be met. First you walk in, dazed and dazzled as you walk through their store front, looking at their unique and interesting products and décor as you make your way to the sitting area. Packed and bustling away as the best smells linger from a busy kitchen.and with so many positive reviews, its got to be good right? That's what I thought, well boy was I WRONG. Turns out its just another overpriced waffle house impersonator that cant even make their coffee right. If you also take a look at all the breakfast platters, ALL are the same thing except for one little option added(You mean your going to charge 6 bucks extra for a menu item I may not even get? My husband and I went out for a mid afternoon meal we had a gift card so we thought why not. We had eaten at CB a lot and we liked it. Over the past year the CB in Dothan has really gone down hill. The service is acceptable but not great. The food, that's another mess that should close their doors. My husband ordered the sirloin, medium. The waitress asked him if he wanted it red in the middle he told her what he wanted. They were out of potatoes so he had to get something else. His steak came out like the sole of my shoe, horrible. The paste they tried to pass off as white gravy was so bad I should have resoled my shoe with my gravy and his steak. The manager came out and asked if everything was ok, but you know at this point it is too late. Nothing to salvage the bad experience or make you want to come back. We are done with the Dothan CB, the others we eat at when we travel are way better. Here's a little hint kitchen and wait staff, if gravy is thick as mashed potatoes, either get new or thin it down, it is nasty by the clump. Time for either the doors to close or a complete overhaul of the staff. read more
