My dad is a veteran who has served in the military for 36 years and lives with PTSD. Because of that, we occasionally ask to be seated in an area where he feels more comfortable. We completely understand that a preferred table may not be available immediately, and we are always more than willing to wait. Unfortunately, our request was initially met by the hostess with an extremely rude and dismissive attitude. She acted as though accommodating my dad's request was unreasonable or impossible, despite us making it clear that we were happy to wait. Her behavior was disappointing and lacked compassion for someone with an invisible disability. After speaking with the manager and explaining that we were willing to wait for a suitable table, they were able to accommodate us without issue. This made it clear that the request was not unfeasible--it simply needed to be handled with a little understanding. To make matters worse, once we were seated, the hostess threw the menus onto the table and walked away without saying anything. It felt disrespectful and unnecessary, especially considering the circumstances. My hope is simply that staff receive more education about invisible disabilities and the challenges many veterans face after their service. A little kindness, patience, and empathy can make a significant difference for guests living with conditions that aren't always visible. read more

Wow, wow, wow!! What a blessing to be able to come into Cracker Barrel and enjoy this beautiful chilly Saturday morning with great music, food and a fabulous waitress! Typical and dependable menu and service. We visit many Cracker Barrel locations around the country. All are laid out the same, enter gift shop and restaurant to the left...not this one. Totally backwards - that said, not a problem once reoriented. Services as efficient as usual and food was great - especially as the 2 for $19.99 weekday special. Mine - meatloaf with okra, greens and biscuits with honey. Tami's - Roasted Chicken tenders with carrots, mashed taters & biscuits with strawberry jam. Opted for 3 stars because we had excellent service! We didn't really see the increases in price you see everywhere else right now, but the portions of like hash brown casserole / meat seemed smaller. My catfish was hot and really good. I think the rest of my food waited for the fish, because it was lukewarm. My husband had grandma's breakfast. The pancakes were excellent. We came on Easter morning like insane people not really remembering it was Easter until we saw all the people wearing pastels. We were able to make a reservation online and just hurried to check in when we arrived. We got called up almost immediately to be seated and had a nice and clean table waiting for us. I got the new pancake platter and my boyfriend got a steak with eggs and hash brown casserole thing. The pancakes were tasty blah blah but the STEAK!!! Holy cow. The steak was INSANELY DELICIOUS! Like, whoever is back there making steaks needs to head over to Rafferty's and give them a hand in the kitchen. I don't even eat beef that often but I cannot stress enough how delicious this steak was. I will think about it for the rest of my life. I don't even know if it could be recreated at this point. Our food was good typical of Cracker Barrel. The service was the absolute worst that I ever experienced at a Cracker Barrel. If it weren't for the food, I would have given minus stars if at all possible. Sat with no drinks refills, then when refills came it was the wrong drinks. Server filled my unsweet tea with sweet tea and being diabetic this was a problem, then when told all she could say was oops. Amiya the server spent more time talking to co workers than waiting on the only customers she had. Maybe she will realize why there was no tip left. My kids and my mom love Cracker Barrel, to me it's just okay. We've been coming here for years and there have been some highs, very few lows, mostly just in middle 3 stars. The service has always been great but yeah since Covid, it seems to be lacking. Mostly take out since then, actually all take out except for two days ago when we had a sit down dinner. The wait for take out always went beyond the estimated time sometimes passed 20 minutes and even if reheated the taste was lacking. It seems a common theme with many recent reviews, I guess so you can peruse the general store for old timey knick knacks as you wait. Two days ago we were seated immediately and service was fast but the waitress was uncommonly unfriendly, and a bit sarcastic. The food, meh, the meatloaf was more sweet than savory and the bone in chicken dinner was dry like it'd been under a heat lamp a little too long. The sides were as usual, pretty okay, except for the dumplings which were good. The complimentary biscuits and/or cornbread were dry and crumbly and the cornbread was a little sweeter than sawdust. I remember when they gave patrons a basket of both, but now it's one or the other. A decent dining experience. read more

I went to Cracker Barrel for a late lunch yesterday. It's the 1st time I have ever been disappointed with the food. I had the homestyle chicken breast meal. It was dry and overcooked. It tasted like it had been warmed over in the microwave. The loaded mashed potatoes were bland, and I couldn't taste any cheese in them. The carrots and biscuits were good. Maybe it was the time of day, but as I said the food was not up to parr. I'll stick with the breakfast menu as it's always been good. The waiter was very good. My kids (9 & 13), wife and I wanted to have dinner and this was busy parking lot all day. Our last few times at other Cracker Barrel's over the years were disappointing. We were seated right away. Our waitress "Hannah" was very attentive and we received our drink orders. My wife ordered the catfish dinner and 13 fried chicken. Both looked very good and they enjoyed their meals. My 9 year old ordered the Buffalo Mac & Cheese but when it came out it was drenched with hot sauce. I politely asked that could he get another new one BUT with hot sauce on side. Our waitress VERY nice and accommodated. I ordered the Country fried steak which was dry, thin didn't taste fresh and the white gravy was very thick, too thick. It was edible but eh wouldn't get it again. The various side we ordered were fried Okra, fried apples, side salad and steak fries. All the sides were very good. Our sodas were constantly being brought new cups and never had to ask. Over all I thought it was good but not great. The service was Great. However, with 20% well deserved "tip" I don't know if it was worth the expense. The corn muffins were all over baked and no one ware any. Disappointing but we were all stuffed and had left overs except my 13 year old and I as we finished our meals. Look at the pictures and you be the judge. Would I come back? Yes BUT DO NOT order fried steak and would ask for fresh corn muffins that weren't overcooked plus get buffalo sauce on side. It was Good But not Great. We had Culvers up tbe street for Lunch that same day (as we were at the Horse Barn with our horses) and while we love Culver's for Burgers and fish, wanted to really give a chance to Cracker Barrel. For the prices charged It should have been better ALL our meals not just 2. NOT something we try next time we in "E Town" as there too many other options. read more

So disappointing! Breakfast order, only thing hot was gravy. Lukewarm eggs, sausage, and the hash brown casserole was not even lukewarm! Casserole was dry and the potatoes were crunchy. After waiting for five minutes, I started my phone timer to see how long we would have to wait to be acknowledged. Joined the waitlist online while on I-65 for a road trip which worked very well for a Sunday lunch. This Cracker Barrel is a mirror-image to most with the dining room on the right of the building instead of the left. The food was up to par, but maybe because of the pandemic, they had supply chain issues for some foods and seemed short staffed. The store had some areas that weren't well-stocked. Cracker Barrel, you either love it or hate it. It's pretty much that simple. Driving back home I got the hankering for some chicken and dumplings and I know both of my kids will eat those, too. Cracker Barrel to the rescue. Haha, not really, but still. It's not very often I don't go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, but when I do I'm usually pretty delighted. This particular location was pretty busy for a Tuesday night, but we were seated rather quickly. Waiter came by shortly after and took our drink order. Jake was cool enough to actually alter our order and ended up splitting 1 meal between the two kids and supplying us with sides. Food came out pretty promptly, and tasted good. 4 stars for the lack of chicken tenders. Odd thing to be out of, but it is what it is. Good spot for breakfast and a good spot for a break on a road trip. read more

So I just came from walking out of Ruby Tuesdays. I got seated by a hostess that didn't seem enthused that I was a table of 1, or maybe she just doesn't like Sundays? Who knows. I sit, look over the menu for some semblance of food not containing meat.. having a darn time. No substitutes for non meat eaters. At least Ruby's had a plant burger that if the waiter ever came back, I was gonna try! This menu lacks anything creative in the salad category as well... BORING!!! Pancakes shrunk. They used to cover half the plate. Considering this is the only thing I ever order, I definitely know what I've always received vs what I received today. Not only that, they were cold! But, because I had a late start eating anything on today, I didn't return them but ate them anyway. You'll almost eat anything when you're starving ... cold or not. Informed waitress that pancakes were cold but I did not want to send back because I was really hungry. She later returned and stated she took the charge off bill. We love Cracker Barrel but just had one of the worst experiences ever at this location. We're on a road trip with two little ones and were super excited to stop here and eat. We called on our way there so they could get started on our food so we didn't have to wait so long for our food with the babies. It took me about 15 minutes of calling to finally get someone. Then, they kept transferring me to different people until I finally got a manager. I said we just were calling in advance to put in our food order, and that we'd be happy to pay over the phone. I explained that we wanted to get it started so we didn't have to wait as long when we got there. Last week at Cracker Barrel, we ordered when we got there and had to wait about 40 minutes for our food, and we were trying to speed things along. She put me on hold again, and said she wasn't going to do that for me. I asked if they would be willing to help our family out, we were almost there- and she said no. I was under the impression this was a family establishment, that liked to serve families. The multiple people I spoke to- not one of them were willing to help our family out on a super long day. Disappointing. If I were in their shoes, I just can't imagine not doing everything I could to try and help out a mom and her babies, especially knowing it has probably been a long travel day for them. Because of that, we went somewhere else. We usually spend a good amount do money on the gift store so they missed out on a big purchase today because they weren't willing to put in our order. read more

We visited on a weeknight about 6:30 pm with a party of six and were promptly seated. Our waitress was friendly and made sure that we had what we needed. Unfortunately, though, they were out of meatloaf which was the main reason my father wanted to come (and it's my favorite as well). They had just replenished the chicken and dumplings, which was good since two others in our party wanted to order those. Dad and I ordered the pot roast instead. Mine had a couple fatty pieces I couldn't eat, but overall it was pretty good. The kids were happy with their kids meals, except for my nephew who liked his food but wished he had more of it. All of the sides were yummy. If you are craving meat and veggies this is a good choice in Elizabethtown. read more
