We went to this location before we got on the road to travel back to WV and TN after visiting family. Our waitress was in a hurry (in a virtually empty room) and we would still be talking to her as she walked away. I ordered the French toast and sent it back after trying about half of two slices to see if it would be any better. It was just egg. There was no cinnamon or sugar. The waitress let me know they don't use either, and the manager (I'm assuming he was a manager) came to tell me that they make their French toast the Tennessee way with sourdough bread...I live in TN and I've had much better French toast at other locations so I just laughed. We assumed that they would comp the meal, but they did not. So no big deal...but then we went to check out. And the cashier was either still tired or just out of it. Her demeanor and tone with our mother and grandmother wasn't appreciated. She looked uninterested and kept leaning on her arm and playing with her hair. Well I made an online order for pick up and my husband picked up the order. The restaurant "checked" the order and all was well. He got home and the restaurant confused grits with hash brown casserole. We didn't receive any hash brown casserole. Also after biting into pancake number two I found a very long strand of blonde hair baked into the pancake. When I called the restaurant about the hair I found in my food and the missing casseroles, Management was more focused on the missing casseroles rather than an unsanitary bite of unwanted blonde hair. I had to remind the manager that the hair problem should be the focus because it's unsanitary. So now I need to call the home office about refunding since it was an online order since I did not want a "meal on them" .... fun read more

I'm not sure what is happening with regards to customer service but this is becoming ridiculous. I placed an order through their website for a meal, went smoothly. I got a confirmation and It said it would be ready in about 30 min. I showed up their in 20 min and called saying I was there. The person who answered the phone said, "ok, great, we will be there shortly as we are finishing your order." I waited about 15-20 min and a person came out and says, "so our grills aren't working today and we couldn't make your food, we will refund the order." While I completely understand that the grills may break and issues happen, don't you think one, you should call and let someone know or at the very least when I call you, you tell me that the order couldn't be completed before you leave me sitting there for 15-20 min? Come on! I tell the person, "you couldn't have done a courtesy call or even notify me ahead of time? That's pretty rude service." She tells me she is sorry and if I reorder when the grills are working, they will comp the meal. I call today to reorder and the lady tells me she isn't handling those issues and passes me off to a person who said he was the manager. He proceeds to tell me that they already refunded the meal and that's all he will do, he doesn't understand why I should get anything for free. I tell him that it was HIS worker who said it and I'm not saying I'm entitled but between me sitting there and them not saying anything and now this attitude, it's pretty poor service. He says he he trying to help me so to then tell him what I ordered. I tried to explain it and he keeps interrupting me saying things like it doesn't come that way. I try to explain to him the way I ordered it with him continually stopping me and then saying, I'm not comping this meal as we only comp one meal. Ummm, that doesn't make any sense at all. My order - pancakes - Maine blueberry, two eggs over easy, the hash brown casserole with the biscuit and apples. Combined is what I ordered and that to me is a breakfast meal. At the end I just told him it's fine and I'm not interested and will just go to another place. We arrived and were seated promptly at a clean table WITH a clean high chair. That's where the good news ends. Upon arriving to take our order our waitress greeted us, not with a happy smile but with an angry snarl befitting a witch. "Perhaps she's just getting in the Halloween spirit," I thought. But we would soon find out that was simply not the case. She took our drink order, water for me and an unsweetened tea for my beautiful wife who's auburn hair laid gently in a curl upon her shoulder. "WHAT!?!? Said the mean old waitress from atop her cracked order notebook. "Unsweetened tea," said the fair maiden. "UNSWEETENED!?" Asked the waitress, as if the thought of unsweetened tea's mere existence had made her day of waiting tables much, much worse. After no less than 8 minutes the mean waitress returned from the midst of her kitchen lair with drinks in hand. Upon setting them on the table she asked: "what do you y'all want?!" To which my lovely bride responded, "can I still get breakfast?" "Ugh, yes". We placed our orders with such high hopes that Cracker Barrel would, as we have grown accustomed to, deliver delicious meals in a quick manner and at a reasonable price. Tonight, they only kept to their prices. Alyssa was her name, but good service was not her game. She did not bring a biscuit even for FORTY minutes. We sat and waited, feeding my daughter of 53 weeks yogurt melts to pass the time. She delighted at the sound her silly cup made when smashed vigorously against the table. As her laughs and coos echoed throughout the restaurant our tears of hunger began to fill our eyes. Every time our waitress emerged from her dungeon my heart would flutter like a butterfly on a warm spring morning only to be crushed by the lack of fried catfish upon her tray. The seconds ticked by and the minutes felt more like years. My daughter finished one pouch of baby food and a true cornucopia of yogurt melts by the time we saw our waitress approach again. This time though, it was not for us. She instead had the sustenance for a different table. The man seated behind my wife saw her draw near and waved his hand in the "come hither" method that can be seen from sea to shining sea in cafes, restaurants, and diners. She lacked the true understanding of his truest of intentions and responded with such ire that even I was brought to blush. "YEAH. ILL BE THERE IN A SECOND" she shouted, putting the man back in his place harder than his wife had ever known possible. Embarrassed in front of his two sons he adjusted in his chair and mumbled what I could only presume to be profanities to his wife who was busy trying to control their brood of two adolescent growing men. Once she had placed the food on the other table, she drew near our neighbor's table. He asked for the check and she acquiesced promptly. Now was my chance. I drew deep and brought forth every ounce of childhood trauma and disappointment that I could. I drew the corners of my once smiling mouth down to form a strong frown portraying not only discontent but also a hint of hunger. She looked into my eyes. Stared. Stared deep into my soul. She saw the plight of a man without food and understood my pain. Felt my pain. In that moment I thought "this is it; she's realizing our problem. She can help!" She did not help but rather returned to her lair. I can only guess what atrocities laid waiting for her. As I continued to wait my mind drifted to the thought of my wife's pancakes on a griddle. Sizzling and waiting to be smothered with maple syrup and melty butter. These pancakes of my dreams were perfect. Their golden-brown centers glistening was almost so real I could taste it. After approximately 45 minutes our waitress returned. Finally! Our food! Our hearts were filled like a wee child on Christmas morning. We had so much faith that our food would be delicious and our bellies soon would be full. But, just as all children must someday learn the truth about Santa, so did we have to learn the truth of our food. My fried catfish tasted as if they forgot the fish part and instead had fried a measly street cat. But that was not the worst of our Sunday Night Plight. Those pancakes of which I had dreamt were delivered to my wife so cold that the butter actually solidified more once placed atop their once pillowy waves of grain. Not only were her pancakes cold but also the eggs- OH THE EGGS. The staple of all breakfasts has never been treated so poorly. Their scramble incomplete and the cheese still solid I've never witnessed such a sad representation of such a proud meal. The waitress did not return 'til I had finished almost all of my food, leaving my lovely bride to sit waiting even longer. When confronted about the icey condition placed atop our table she could barely feign concern. "oh boy" She muttered as she took the plate away "I'll have them make another" Then she brought the replacement and it was alright so she ate it and we paid and left. The end. read more

I almost gave this place one star, but I remembered that all the staff there were super kind and professional. That being said, I waited over an hour to be seated, over an hour for my food, and when it came out ALL of my orders were wrong. I left hungry because I didn't have the patience to wait any longer. Got there at 11am and left at 3pm. I understand being busy. I don't understand getting every order wrong. Also, most people in the shopping area weren't wearing masks. Seating multiple tables for one server (who was doing her best to keep up) is NOT setting your people up for success. Management is also allowing food service of incomplete orders. Saturday is a volume day for sure, but with only half of the dining room full, service should be much smoother. Tried to order on line with gift card for curb-side pickup. The website would split the gift card with my credit card. I wanted to use all of the gift card. I called the Belair Rd location and asked why and the guy employee that answered told me he didn't even know the website would take gift cards. Really? So, I called in the order for pick up. The waitress Meagan seemed annoyed by our table from the moment we sat down. 40 minutes in we had to beg her for biscuits and we really upset her when we asked for jelly. I end up dining here on occasion, usually for lunch or dinner. I'm not sure I've ever made it for breakfast. I've been lucky enough to not ever have to wait for a table either! One thing I really like about Cracker Barrel is their veggie selection. That's important to me. The other thing is that all the nutritional info is on the website, so I can make a smart decision about my meal. On my latest visit I had the oven "fried" chicken, and it was very good. Our servers are always quick to get to the table and friendly. We are usually in and out pretty quickly as well- which is certainly a positive at lunch time. Browsing the nostalgic shop is always fun too. I usually end up with a candy item for dessert! read more

We had a server named Wendy. From the moment she greeted us at the table she had a cold shoulder approach to us. When we were ordering drinks I asked for water With lemons, she proceeded to say that there was no lemons at this location. Yet when her next table was sat she had bought the lady a water with lemons. This table sat to the right of me they were two older caucasian ladies. Then when I ordered my entree I asked if it was possible to make biscuit sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon and she said yes. When the food came out i had two pieces of bacon and one egg on my plate and a side of biscuits. She came out to check the food and said i guess they didn't put the sandwich together, suggested i put the pieces together and then walked away. When i looked at the receipt she had placed something completely different than what I had ordered for breakfast. She was very pleasant with her other tables which made me feel uncomfortable and I am not saying it was race related (we are Hispanic) but it came off that way.. in the end we tried to contact a manager but after waiting about ten minutes no one ever came to address our issue so we paid and left. This was my first time, I went with a group, if I were alone I probably would not come. I think it's a little overcrowded with stuff, but that's my opinion. They do have nice items for sale, and the prices are decent. The menu had a nice selection, and I decide to get the Salmon patties and sweet potato. I might be bias, but when you make your own salmon patties and then taste someone else it sometimes doesn't measure up, but it was decent. A lot of people talk about Cracker Barrel, but I just didn't get that experience. The staff was nice, I am going to end this one here. Let me start off by saying I love Cracker Barrel. That said ...this location has a serious challenge with to-go orders and basic customer service. When you aren't dining in. I placed an order at 11:35. I was told 15-20 minutes. 12:15 I go to the hostess to check for the status of my food and she shrugged it of. She eventually asked me if I wanted her to go check on it??? She goes to the back and brings out the cold food and asked me to check if everything was there. When I brought that to her attention she said "well it was just sitting back there so I bagged it up". The second hostess overheard that and immediately called a manager. Manager came up seemed bothered and said she'd get it heated up. I insisted that she have it recooked. I was in the area and decided to stop in and grab something to eat. I was meeting my mother here so I grabbed a seat in one of the rocking chairs on the porch and enjoyed the scenery. It took her over an hour to get there I'm usually impatient but I didn't mind it this day because I was actually enjoying my time just rocking away in the rocking chair. Once she arrived we went in and were quickly seated. The server was very friendly and swift at his job. It didn't take us long to place our order and receive our food. I played a few rounds of the IQ game on the table while our food was being prepared. I loved this game as a kid. My aunt had one and we would play it all the time at her house. I like that you can request toast instead of biscuits or cornbread. I'm not fond of biscuits, so this is a perfect fix for me. The food was good not great but I do love the chicken and rice on Saturdays. That dish is sooooo good! I wish they would place that on the menu for everyday consumption. I would be there everyday! I hope my prayer is answered one day if not I guess I will try more things off the menu!!! read more

I have been to Cracker Barrel many times before and never had issues with them. That is until now, when I took my mom there this morning. We went for breakfast and we had to wait 45 minutes before getting our food we had ordered. My mom being that she was not doing well at all and has Dementia started to get restless and not felt good. I had to ask for the nearest waitress to find out what happened to our food and that my mom wasn't doing well. She then called the manager and told me that she was looking into it. She arrived saying that the food was never being cooked and that she was going fix that. We finally got our food 45 minutes later. I do not recommend going back there anymore as I wont after this episode. read more

Went there on a Saturday night for dinner. The service was very poor, we waited a long time for anyone to take our order. Finally a server appeared and took our order. The food left a lot to be desired. The pancakes that my wife ordered had no flavor and were overcooked. I made the mistake of ordering the open faced roast beef sandwich and got three pieces of burned "grilled" sourdough bread, only one of them having meat and gravy on it. The roast beef was hard, dry, grainy pot roast that was probably sitting in a pan all day. The gravy was nondescript brown gravy. The beef was so tough it was hard to swallow. Our server was completely inattentive except at the end when he offered a takeout box. He didn't bother to ask if we were satisfied. I suspect he knew what the answer was and didn't want to hear it. Normally the service is good and the breakfast dishes are fair to good. Based on our experience tonight we won't be back. read more

I'm a huge fan of Cracker Barrel, but today was our first experience at the Evans location and I really wish it would have been better. My husband got a breakfast meal that was served cold. After asking to get the meal reheated it looked almost inedible, his steak was brought back looking like charcoal COMPLETELY overcooked when he asked for it to be cooked medium well. His hash browns were also brought back still cold. On a better note, when we brought it to the managers attention, the meal was removed from our bill. read more
