Stopped by here on our way home from Columbia. SC and the chicken was as good as I expected. This is my fourth Maryland chain that I have tried and I haven't been disappointed YET !! As we pulled up we noticed that it was crowded, which means the chicken must be good and it should be fresh due to the amount of people ordering. We ate outside on the patio and the chicken was hot and fresh. The okra was really good too. They were both seasoned well. I also ordered mac & cheese, but didn't get any utensils to eat it with, so I had to wait until I got home. I ordered a slice of red velvet cake too. It's been years since I visited Maryland's, and I'm glad I got the chance to do so yesterday. It is in the same location, same spirit, and small smell of some good chicken frying. It was a nostalgic visit. I got the three-piece white with mac and cheese and the coleslaw. I've always loved the coleslaw here and the chicken is still amazing. I love it. I love those biscuits with honey. The key lime cake was a great dessert. I only waited 10 minutes after placing my pick-up order. They are awesome and I'm glad they are still around. read more

First off let me just acknowledge that Marylands is a staple in the east boundary community. So much so that I live in Los Angeles and I met a guy at work that lived in Augusta in the 80's and when I told him I grew up in Augusta he asked me if Marylands was still in East boundary. This is one of those no frills you know what you're getting everyone kind of places. One of the reasons they've been able to last so long is they've been putting out good product at a good price for years. I always get the 3 wing dinner with 2 sides. I typically will get their Mac and cheese and greens and although it's not a savory side my favorite is their sweet potato casserole. Having moved from Augusta years ago it's nice to come back and still be able to get something that I used to eat as a kid. It's seems like all the old mom and pop shops have been replaced by chains so it's nice to see this staple still standing strong. read more

The food is always hot and delicious!! I wanted a 3 wing dinner but they were low on wings and they don't sell only wing dinners when this happens. So I opted for a 3 piece dark 1thigh and 2 legs and to my surprise they added a wing. The slaw is one of a kind and the fries and biscuits were delicious as well. Looks like they forgot my biscuits but the freshness and taste of the food made me forget I didn't receive any. The restaurant is take out only so it's only standing room with a couple of chatty people waiting to get their food not too quiet but not loud. My business was located down the block from this Maryland's. I had just relocated to GA and heard that their chicken was deeelicious. So, one day I walked down to the opposite corner of the block to buy some for myself and mother-n-law (MIL). I bit into it and ... well it was not seasoned well. I was verrrry disappointed. So, being new in town I wondered what all the hoopla was about. My 81 year old August born MIL said it used to be much better years before. I tried them again several times after and learned that it is hit and miss here as it relates to the food and customer service. Depending on who's cooking (employee turnover is high) and who's at the counter it can be a good or not so good experience. My opinion regarding the food was confirmed one day as I was at the counter waiting for my order. I overheard a regular customer (older gentleman) and apparent friend of the establishment ask "who's cooking today ... because the chicken is good today". The person at the counter gave him a name then agreed. read more

Some recent bad review of the service here. I love Popeyes and maybe people think that all fried chicken places should serve you that fast. I was happy to wait for this chicken (about 15 min). Meant I was getting fresh, hot, just cooked chicken. Got a breast and thigh (chicken only). Nice sized pieces at a great price. Anyone can make wings and most can make thighs, but real test in breast. I don't happen to normally get because typically dry and flavorless, but I believe if you are testing a place, the breast will tell you what's what. Took the chicken to go and tried to take a bite in the car. So hot and juicy, I realized I would be creating a risk, so waited until back at the hotel. 15 minutes later the chicken was still hot, juicy and delicious. Crispy and very well seasoned (perfect salt). Inside is a bit sterile, but great crowd (and music). Delicious. read more

Been here twice now within the past couple of months. Was hyped for the chicken after hearing about them from coworkers. The first time I went I wanted wings. They were out. So I settled for a 3pc mix. My son is picky so I wanted to get him some fish. No fish or shrimp available. Their chicken was great. No complaints. The availability of options was not. Today I decide to go again and give them another shot. Same issues as the last. No options to select from. I tried to order tenders for my son and was told they were out and the truck hadn't delivered yet. So I was able to order wings this time and got my son a leg. Chicken was precooked under the lamp. So of course I don't know how long it had been sitting out. Definitely wasn't warm enough when I got home. After today's experience, along with the other a couple months back, I've decided to mark this spot off the list. Can't recommend them to any of my friends. read more

I dreamed about this chicken as a kid!!!! I have love this place all my life. Some of the best chicken I've ever tasted and the biscuits are to die for!!!! I could eat this everyday!!!! It depends on what time you stop by how busy this place is. It can get really busy and it sometimes takes a little while for you to receive your food, but I will wait for all the goodness here!!! I love the sweet tea and lemonade. I usually get half and half to get the best of both worlds!!! Sometimes there is cakes and other baked goods being sold. They can be a hit or a miss!!! I was inquiring about a piece of red velvet cake and one employee said you don't want that mess!!! I couldn't help but burst out laughing at her honesty!!! I would have been highly upset if I bought that cake and it wasn't good!!! This location has new hours of operation now. They close later now. Okay, let me just start out by telling you why I originally went in to this establishment. When I was a child, I lived in a small town called Vidalia. There were very few restaurants that were there. My mom was a single parent and we didn't have a lot of extra funds to buy food out. There was a Maryland Fried Chicken place and I always looked forward to getting food out because we rarely were able to afford it. The Maryland Fried Chicken place had a fish dinner with hush puppies which were shaped like little cylinders. I always loved getting this! So when my husband and I were driving down Broad St and we saw a Maryland Fried, I couldn't wait to go in and get some food and hopefully those hush puppies. We ordered 2 of the 3 piece chicken dinners and asked for breasts as our pieces of meat (yes we paid extra but that's okay with me). We also substituted hush puppies instead of biscuits. My husband substituted bake beans instead of fries. We paid and took it home to eat. I was so excited to see if the food would be as good as when I was a kid. When we got home the order was all messed up. They didn't give us 3 breasts in each meal. They gave us a breast and a wing. They didn't give us baked beans. We didn't get the hush puppies that I wanted to try--they gave us biscuits even though I clearly gave the woman my order and asked her before we left if she was sure the order was correct. So I called up there and spoke to the lady who waited on us and told her to please check orders before they taped up the boxes bc ours was all wrong and although I wasn't mad, I was pretty disappointed and most likely wouldn't be back. She told me not to worry because the next time I came in I should tell them my name and they would not charge us for 2 dinners. Tonight, which is exactly 1 week later, we went up there and told the order taker what I was told to say--to tell them my name and they would replace my order free of charge. The young man said that the woman who told me shouldn't have said it and that he wasn't authorized to honor the request. He said he'd take my number and have a manager call me. Well that kind of made me mad and I asked him how he would feel if he had been told that and so on. There was an older gentleman in the back who must have been the owner or a manager and he said, Baby, don't you worry! We are gonna make things right. He asked me what the order was and even though it was close to closing time he fixed it up! Was really nice, too. When we got home the order was perfectly done and DELICIOUS! The order was exactly right, too. The only thing, and it's not really a big deal or their fault, but the hush puppies are round ball, not the cylindrical shapes I remember from my childhood. They were delicious and that's all that matters! Give this place a chance if you want some good fried chicken! I know we will definitely be back once every 2 or 3 weeks. read more

For a business that's been around for decades this is a very poorly ran business. First off they dont gave a website and the closest MFC website I found to me was a free website that hasn't been updated since it was created. They say buffalo wings are on the menu and none of the employees act like they dint know what a buffalo wing is when I mention. Not very professional or polite when i talked to them either. Except for the greasy okra, I really enjoyed the food - fried liver and 3 wings with okra, coleslaw and biscuit - but the funky attitudes turned me off, which is why I only gave the place 3 stars. I love Maryland Fried Chicken and I went to the one in Dublin Ga yesterday.While in the process of purchasing a 9 pc without short thighs,cole slaw and potato logs. I was informed by the 2 females that worked there that my order would be $2.00 more because they didn't have any dark meat and they would have to give me all white meat.Also they were giving me 4 small cups of coleslaw because they said they didn't have the bigger cups.I refused to pay $2.00 extra and was given my $20.41 back.Now is it me or does it make sense to give me the white meat chicken for the original price or lose $20.41 for $2.00????
