Stopped in for a quick bite a little after 915 on a Saturday morning. Surprisingly the 3 of us were able to be seated immediately. We ordered and our food came out within about 25 mins. The pancakes were lukewarm but the syrup was warmer. My girlfriend sent hers back and our server looked perplexed. Fast forward to us asking for a sweet tea to go and a caramel latte. Although I didn't specify whether or not I wanted it hot (on a cool autumn morning) it arrived as an iced caramel latte. My girlfriend's sweet arrived in a hot cup but was iced tea. None of it made sense. I asked the server why I received an ice latte and she said most people want it iced. In my opinion, and in order to get the beverage I wanted, I should have specified hot BUT as my server, she should have asked. Needless to say, I told her I didn't want it and she still gave us the bill without removing the iced latte. Smh Good news is that the manager took care of it when we went to pay the bill. Let me start off by saying I looooooove Cracker Barrel! Usually there is a wait but not yesterday...came right in and was immediately seated, SCORE! Our waitress was Kim who immediately took our drink orders, water because I'm trying to stay away from sugary drinks it I really wanted to try the blackberry iced tea. After giving us a few minutes to peruse the new summer menu we all ordered the shrimp platter (see pic below). The shrimp were not over fried. The French fries had a good softness to crunch ratio. The green beans had awesome flavor. I always gotta have biscuits w/ apple butter. I don't know what it is about the biscuits & apple butter but it ain't nothing but love. I have been eating at Cracker Barrel for over 40 years now. This particular location has been the worst experience I have ever had. They were out of half the stuff on the menu then they said they were absolutely not able to substitute anything so I requested the general manager I come to find out yes they did make this substitution that I requested. My sister and I went to lunch to try their Fall menu. At our location in Southpoint, we were happy to see the interior and exterior remain the same, unlike most locations that were subject to change drastically. During our visit, we ordered 4 items: 1) Grandpa's Breakfast 2) Butter Pecan Sticky Buns 3) Sausage and Egg Hashbrown Casserole 4) Butter Pecan French Toast Bake. The butter pecan sticky buns arrive to the table in a small cast iron skillet. They were very moist, delicious and had just enough sweetness to your palate. I would definitely order it again. The sausage and egg casserole also came in a cast iron skillet. It was layered with gravy, fried onions, green chiles, smoked sausage, scrambled eggs, red peppers, melted cheese and hash browns. Surprisingly it was ridiculously delicious. The combination was incredibly intoxicating with flavors. On the grandpa's breakfast platter includes a choice of eggs, grits, choices of fried apples or hashbrown casserole and a choice of country fried steak or chicken tenders topped with their signature sawmill gravy. I chose the grits topped with cheese, chicken tenders and medium over eggs. I place the eggs on topped of the chicken and gravy just to utilize space. The chicken was juicy, tender and enough to satisfy your taste buds. Unfortunately our least favorite was their butter pecan French toast bake. When it arrived to the table, it is plated with the bake French toast which looks like baked bread pudding; choice of protein: bacon or sausage and butter pecan syrup. I taste the bake French toast on its own, it was dried. Even when I added the syrup, it was still dried. I selected the sausages which came in two but they look like Johnny cakes, very thin and that too was dried. Our server Ally (Alexandra Y) was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Everything about Cracker Barrel is great, but especially the service. It is always Five-Star. As if we were going to dinner at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. Yes, it's a Cracker Barrel. But it was the way waitress Sarah and her trainee Sally engaged with us, made sure our order was perfect, kept the coffee coming, and most of all, made sure we were happy. Even our check-our cashier asked if all was fine and we were happy. We still are. The service was that good. Sarah let us know when our catfish was on the way. And as we expected, it was delicious. The service is good, but the food was bad. I ordered chicken tenders with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The chicken tenders were OK, not bad, but the broccoli was mushy and had a funny taste that I couldn't get out of my mouth. I couldn't eat them. The mashed potatoes taste like they were mixed with instant potatoes. They were still edible. I know it wasn't super expensive. I felt like I was wasted $20.85. Had an EPIC experience visiting Cracker Barrel at 5200 Southpoint Parkway this morning. We were greeted by a smiling host and a lively server, Ms. Vicky. We were apprehensive about where we were seated but she told us we had the best seats in the building because she was going to take care of us, and she did just that. She made us feel like we were seated at her kitchen table. Our order came out fresh and hot. The food was exceptional and had all the comforts of home. On a cold day like today the rolling fireplace was the right touch. Midway through our meal Don, the manager stopped by to gauge our dinning experience. We gave Vicky rave reviews that were well deserved. He obliged us for a few minutes sharing his love for meeting new and welcoming new patrons, I could tell how passionate he is working in hospitality. I shared that I'm an Army veteran and he encouraged me to sign up for their rewards and I did. The cashier was also helpful when we paid our bill. But, Ms. Vicky even stopped by while we were paying to ensure that our time spent there was satisfactory. Wow, the customer service and dinning experience there was through the roof! I travel the 95 South corridor a lot for business as a private chef caterer and to know that I've been missing out on this gem. I found 3 tiny pieces of egg shells in my egg sandwich. Food was delicious like it always is but wasn't happy when I felt my eggs "crunch".

This chain is consistent. Was glad to have breakfast for dinner. Usually I go with the chicken fried chicken with sawdust gravy. That is beyond delicious. Yet French toast with bacon works too. Definitely needed the calories. This one like the others, is literally a minute off the highway, Service here was excellent. Got a table quickly, and wait time for food was practically nothing. When on the road this is of high importance. Clean restaurant, and found the seating roomy and comfortable. The country store was avoided this time. They will always be among my road trip favorites. 2/9/22 Cracker Barrel is just a terrific place to come with a family to get pretty good food at a great price. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast at any hour of the day, or some biscuits and sawmill gravy........the menu is vast and the staff at any location I've ever visited has been very friendly. The gift shop also smells so good it makes you want to have a seat and relax for a while........it's also has plenty of retro candy from yesteryear to bring you back to a simpler time. Meatloaf lunch special (single decent slice) with potatoes (smooth and creamy with gravy) and cole slaw (crisp and cold). So, I go into the Cracker Barrel at exit VA126 and am immediately hit by a blast of cold air. In this vein I asked one of the employees near the entrance door about the very cold air blowing into the store. The young lady stated, "yeah it is freezing in here". The young lady did tell me the back offices (I am guessing adjoining the kitchen) was warm and humid. Thus, (I am concluding) the reason for very cold store section and eating area. Apparently, the a/c ducting needs work at this location. I proceeded to the restaurant hostess stand. There I found 3 young ladies huddled around one another, no doubt to ward off the cold. I asked about turning up the thermostat. I was told they could not turn it up. Clearly the employees are not empowered. I then asked for the manager, at first my request was ignored. When I asked a bit more assertively (but still very nicely) I was told they would locate the manager. For the record - this is an old trick - only produce the manager after 3 requests. Obviously, the manager (in a near empty store and restaurant) was much too important to actually interface with a customer. As an aside, this indicates poor staff planning to have 3 folks around the hostess desk and others circulating around in store devoid of any customers. I can best describe the manager as a nearing middle-aged lady with a c. 2 - 3" circular hair bubble atop of her head. Her immediate attitude was one of annoyance - similar to a small thinking TSA manager, or a wanna be Leona Hemsly (for those old enough to understand the cultural reference. When I asked about the chilly air and turning the thermostat up, she replied "no one else has complained about the temperature". I then asked the 3 young employees huddled around the hostess stand. They said nothing, clearly intimidated by the hair looped manager. The manager displayed a very poor and condescending attitude towards both this customer and the employees. No doubt this would work as a drill instructor or the aforenoted self-important TSA employee. I am thinking maybe, just maybe, not so much in a for profit hospitality establishment. My conclusion was that clearly the manager's comfort more important than customers. My guess is that regional management must tolerate this manager for whatever reason. The only reason I go to CB is that my wife likes the food and the store. For the record, we eat out once a day in far nicer establishments, or at our club (when in town), we go to CB by choice. Not so sure we want to deal with a business that allows this type of behavior in their staff. BTW - the server was great as was the first young lady I encountered. read more

I've always loved Cracker Barrel. Their pancakes and syrup are fabulous. I do not like the massaponax location because they can never get my eggs fried hard. They always want to scramble them. You can get a whole egg fried hard with no problem but not egg whites. No other restaurant has ever had a problem with this request. read more

Food taste decent alright. Got the double meat breakfast wife got French toast my wife said it wasn't good. Her dish she was not please at all. I ordered 2 eggs over easy toast shredded hash browns and bacon. My dish was decent. Sausages were great. Don't think I will come here a lot. Waffle House taste better in my opinion. Maybe the cook that day when we came here wasn't having a good day? I don't know. But I won't say I won't be back cuz you never know. We were on the road for 4 hours and needed a break and comfort food. My husband's favorite meal is breakfast and mine is anything but breakfast so Cracker Barrel met both of our needs. 1:00 PM meant the restaurant was only moderately busy. The staff were all attentive and cheerful. The menu is extensive. I stepped away from my usual salad lunch and chose chicken fried steak with dumplings and green beans. This was definitely comfort food from a can. As expected, the chopped steak was breaded and fried, the dumplings were soft, and the green beans were over cooked (canned?). The gravy was the pasty glop from a can, undercooked and thick. I ate half because it sat like lead in my gut. My husband enjoyed his breakfast which was standard fare. Pretty hard to screw up pancakes, eggs, and ham. If it weren't for the staff, we would not be back. I think we'll plan to find a local diner next trip! read more

To be honest, no real complaints here. J and I trudged in around 5:30 on the Friday after 4th of July, ready to get outta the heat. It was busy but not slammed. We were seated promptly and courteously. Our server was sweet and attentive throughout the meal. I got the grilled chicken tenders (tender, moist, and flavorful), steamed broccoli (wasn't steamed to mush), green beans (done to perfection and tasted faintly of ham), and mac and cheese (could have been warmer but still tasty). J got the fried chicken (crispy, well-seasoned and a huge portion), corn on the cob (sadly extremely mushy) and a house salad (fresh and crisp). The accompanying biscuits were very nice and the corn muffins were a distant second place. Two huge entrees, and two drinks, $27 before tip. Great service, would return. read more

A larger gentleman with Elvis sideburns asked us how many and walked us to our table but he did so at the same pace as the sloths in the DMV scene in the movie Zootopia. I never thought I could get road rage in a Cracker Barrel. I felt good when I walked in but by the time we arrived at the table I was malnourished and needed to shave again. The wait for a table wasn't long and they call you on a loud speaker to let you know when you are next to be seated. Standard Cracker Barrel menus (breakfast, lunch and dinner). My wife and I went with dinner plates that wach came with a choice of 3 sides. Wife went with Chicken and Dumplings which were okay. Chicken was tender and in a good sauce. The dumplings were a little rubbery. But overall okay. I went with the Fried catfish (because the Friday Fish Fry was only available on Friday...oops). Catfish was also okay just wished there was more (not just 2 small planks). Went with the Fried apples, fried okra, and the grits and cheese for my sides. Lots of food at a descent price. Quality and taste of food could be a bit better. But good place to eat. read more

Sure enough, the "single diner" disease was underway, and groups walking in after me were getting served before I was even approached. The waitress apologized for the delay, but there was no evidence of post-rush cleanup and no lines at the door. This was simply poor customer service. The food, however, was great. It's Cracker Barrel, you can't go wrong. It's the same menu every day, no thrills. It was pleasant. The food was decent and we had a really nice waitress. The only downside was the bathroom. It had a terrible odor and it needed attention. Other than that it was ok. Nice "home cooked" meal. read more
