The unsweetened tea here is the best in my opinion. The sandwiches are great but the tea is phenomenal. The staff shows how customer service is supposed to be.

Amazing service! They threw in an extra salad for me and helped me carry everything to my car. Very quick a service. Restaurant was clean and staff was very friendly. Will definitely be coming back for future catering orders.

I had a busy day, and after that busy day, I did not feel like cooking the big dinner I had planned. So after my husband got off work at 5pm, we headed to McAlister's Deli in Fredericksburg for a light, impromptu dinner. They recently opened up a new location here in Fredericksburg. The restaurant is located off Plank Rd near the new Chipotle, in the same plaza that houses Harry's Alehouse. It's off street parking, but parking is limited. Fortunately for us, it's a Wednesday evening, and it wasn't too busy. Overall first impression, is the restaurant is brightly lit, with modern decor, and clean. We had no line, and took our time studying the menu prior to ordering. We decided on ordering the club on wheat, with potato salad, and the ultimate nachos as well. I wanted the pulled pork nachos, but they were out of pork. I downloaded the app, and got a free large unsweetened iced tea. However nobody could figure out how to get the app to scan, so they just deleted the drink from my total, after seeing the reward on my phone. We sat down and were served within 5 minutes. I thought the club was pretty basic; good, but nothing special. I've had better at a couple of local restaurants. The potato salad was delicious. I'm particular about my potato salad, and this was really good. The nachos were solid. I enjoyed the flavor of the chili, and they didn't skimp on toppings. But our avocado on the nachos was visibly moldy. I notified an employee, and asked that she let them know in the back. She said, "Oh sorry", and that was the last we heard. I eat a lot of avocado, and I'm aware of how quickly it can go bad. But they sliced it, and put it on our nachos, moldy side up. So somebody didn't care about serving rotten avocado to a customer. That's a problem. However, everything else was good enough. It's not fine dining, and aside from some very good potato salad, nothing else really stood out for being anything special. But it's pretty decent for what you get. Our total was $19 and some odd cents for the club with potato salad, and the Ultimate nachos, which I find reasonable. We didn't leave hungry. I certainly want to try some of the more interesting things on the menu, like the loaded spuds, and the pork nachos, which are only available for a limited time. I will return, but I will also be watching my food closely to ensure that we're paying for fresh produce, and food that isn't rotting. Still, not at all a bad first impression.

The total contest of the Rewards Member menu. What's the point?

It's a brand new location, and the roll-out is apparently tough for them here. The staff here, specifically the manager are trying really hard, and it's apparent, that managing the staff (cashiers), deconflicting with incorrect info on the App, and meshing the kitchen staff is a monumental task. I really think the Company is failing them, it's not a lack of effort on the part of the employees, but I'll say this: 1st visit : Absolute failure. Took them 1.5 hours to never get our order out. Three trips back up to the register. Two personal visits to our table from the manager, before they finally just refunded the whole order, then explained that they had sold out of the items we ordered while we waited. The whole time they were selling those items to people that came AFTER us. But in our 1.5 hour wait, we were out of luck. 2nd visit : Success. Got the food. Every single thing we ordered was wrong. We got the right items, but the wrong options. No tomato, wrong add in the tea, wrong side, etc. everything was wrong. 3rd visit : Getting closer. All the wrong toppings on the potato. Wrong toppings on the sandwich. 4th visit: Ask about ordering for dine-in on the app. Talk to a cashier and they explain that they "have no idea how the app works and I should probably go online and research it." The manager interrupts and says "we don't do dine-in via the app". I show him on the app the option is there, to which he replies "They were supposed to disable that for this location." 5th visit: The "Rewards Members Only" menu on the app is not just completely empty. None of the menu items are in the app, but they are still available at the register. Nobody knows anything about why that is, of course. Meanwhile, they have the absolute WORST parking lot I have ever seen. It's a total 1.5-way disaster. Chipotle customers can loop the building in the drive through, but McAllister customers have to come in and go out the same way, while dodging narrow spaces, a narrow through-way, and not enough room for the cars to back in and out of the spaces while vehicle are passing through. It's a terrible terrible location for parking. The food is good, if you get it, and if it's prepared properly. The app functionality is useless. Why would they disable "order ahead" anyway?

Outstanding food today. I had a Cuban, and my wife had the French Dip. My Cuban 12 Cuban was huge. It was fantastic. My wife's French Dip was huge as well. We both brought half of our sandwiches home. Popped then in the air fryer and still awesome. I highly recommend it. In my opinion, the best.

What the heck, McAlister's?!?!! Made a special trip across town to get my chicken salad fix before you closed since tomorrow is Thanksgiving & I figured you would be closed (even though I could never verify that since the phone number rings until it finally says that the voicemail box has not been set up. What restaurant has a cell phone?) Anyway, imagine my surprise & shock when I pull up to an obviously closed restaurant. I could see some sort of sign taped to the door, so I got out to check. "Closed at 4 pm" hand written on a white piece of paper. (See pic) No explanation. Did the registers go down? Was there a fire in the kitchen? Might as well just say everyone decided they wanted to go home. Except that when I went up to the door to take the pic, someone approached the door from the inside & hollered that they were closed. Um, yeah, I can read. Did the registers go down? The kitchen catch on fire? Seriously? Very disappointed. Do better! Please.

Outside of the building. Parking lot is full & busy.

Their menu was quite large, with hot dogs, cold subs, hot sandwiches, and paninis listed. They also feature a couple soups daily. When we went, they had a loaded baked potato soup and a lobster bisque. The young girl working the front was very happy and helpful and gave some good suggestions too. The place is quaint, with several tables and lots of historic signs on the walls. We started with their baked potato soup - The overall flavor was nice. But the potatoes in it were rubbery, like they used the wrong type of potato or maybe over-cooked it. Also, the soup was just warm, far from being served hot. Next up were the sandwiches - I chose the BBQ chicken sandwich, which had thinly sliced chicken breast on it, along with BBQ sauce, mayo, and onions. The sandwich was pressed, like a panini and was pretty good. I liked the smokiness of the BBQ sauce. I also got a bottle of their homemade root beer and it was pretty good. They serve Route 11 potato chips, which are my favs! So, I had to pick up a bag of Mama Zuma for later - those things are spicey, hot, and tasty! Overall, it's a nice spot, I can see them being a popular lunch spot downtown.

And the one you'll skip over but shouldn't is the Adkins Special, which is 3 eggs and 2 meats (or 2x one meat) -- no bread, no fruit, no potatoes. Sometimes you just need to go all proteins!
