Now I will give them this -- they move people through faster than a tax refund disappears in Washington. I ordered three chicken finger baskets and repeated "unsweetened tea" enough times that it should have become part of the permanent record. Reconfirmed it at the second window too. We were in and out in four minutes flat, carrying enough Styrofoam and paper sacks to feed a Little League team. Six minutes later at home, the first sip of tea hit like liquified hummingbird feeder. That "unsweetened" tea had enough sugar in it to put the city of Fredericksburg on insulin monitoring. The lone survivor in this culinary rodeo was the sauce. That special sauce is carrying the entire franchise on its back like a weary mule climbing Pike's Peak. I finally asked my grandson if he had eaten there before. He admitted he had not. He'd simply been told it was great and figured nobody could really mess up chicken fingers and fries. Well. Strike Raising Cane's from the regular rotation unless it is 2:00 in the morning, every other restaurant in Virginia is dark, and your soul is screaming for fried chicken through the fog of poor decisions.

Cheap albeit greasy seafood shack. I concur with other reviewers that it's a notch up from Arthur Treacher or Long John's. The sign says "fresh" but vegetable side dishes are obviously canned. And they don't use real crabmeat, so fresh is a relative term. But there are 5 kinds of fresh fish available on the menu including salmon, tilapia, catfish and flounder. All fish are filets. Gumbo didn't have authentic cajun flavor but wasn't bad. Good hush puppies, tasteless dinner roll. Breading is somewhat heavy and strongly flavored so a nice alternative is to order some of the non-fried menu items such as grilled fish and rice, which is nice. Extra points for a great job of re-creating that fun beachside feel inside and out, and the menu prices are pretty old-fashioned, too. Plus they have free WiFi, which is a cool alternative to the coffee-shop or hotel lobby. read more

She helped improve an otherwise disappointing start to the evening. She saved this from being a completely negative review. Food The food did not meet expectations. The Imperial Dip was overcooked and stuck to the bowl, the mahi mahi was overcooked and small in portion, and while my steak and lobster were cooked properly, the dish lacked flavor and I relied on salt and pepper for flavor. However, the warm butter heater for the lobster was a nice touch. The fish and chips and macaroni and cheese for our kids were also just ok. Value With a nearly $180 bill (including a few drinks), the overall experience felt disappointing for the price. Final Thoughts I might consider returning, but only with hopes for a much friendlier welcome, the same great server and service, and sticking to safer menu options. For the price point, there may be better dining options available downtown.

It was cooked to perfection, supplemented with a delicious bang bang sauce, with just the right amount of spice. Overall, an excellent evening meal, satisfying our appetite, even without a main.
