My usual cracker barrel experiences are great however I've come here for the first time ever because this cracker barrel needs some serious attention. I took my family here for dinner while on vacation expecting a good meal. My granddaughter didn't get her food until 4 request later and our table had already finished eating. The worst was an after dinner trip to the restroom. Had I made that decision first we would have never stayed as this was the nastiest restroom I've ever been in. Worst experience, I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in a while and we were feeling nostalgic. And we were traveling, tired and hungry, had gotten really excited about familiar comfort foods. No one answered after repeated calls to place to go order, so we walked over and placed our order, thinking it would be fun to browse and get some treats while waiting. And wait we did. We ended up with $100 of merchandise, which I planned to purchase, again just tired, had excellent and very helpful girl at register hold for us, but no food. Left our # to call when food was ready (just veggies, all of which I'm sure already prepared and just needed to be portioned out). After another 30 min, my husband called; no record of our order, though we'd been milling about and asking after it for an hour in the restaurant. My husband talked to manager Pam, who was marginally helpful and only reachable after another half hour waiting on phone, at which point I'd already arranged dinner for us otherwise and her offer to get (a super easy veg side order) "right away" was totally moot. I would not consider Cracker Barrel to be anything other than what it is 'a geographically diverse but consistent southern themed American food restaurant'. This location was no different than the many Cracker Barrel restaurants I have been to across the United States-the same expansive menu, reasonable cost, good service and great value for both portions, quality of food and flavor. I obviously cannot attest to all Cracker Barrel's everywhere however of the chains I have had occasion to frequent, given the extent and diversity of the menu it is probably one of the more reliable dining experiences offered. read more

Worst experience i have had at crackel barrell in a long time. The manager Barry is busy having his dinner instead of making sure this restaurant was running like it should have been. Started out ordering a root beer. It was hot and the mug was not frosted. I heard the manager tell our waiteess Aquarius that he would get us a cold root beer. That root beer never showed up. Than they ran out of dumplings, than they had no biscuits. Still no drink. Salad was wilted. If your going to stay open untill 11, dont run out of food at 9. Had to beg for a drink. read more

The food was ok but the service was lacking. We were a party of nine and my food came out first, the next four plates did not come out for another 15 minutes and the last four plates took 15 more minutes. Some of the other costumers were getting their orders in a timely fashion and some others suffered the same kind of service we did. Our service was so bad even other costumers took notice. The restaurant was not very busy since we arrived after 7pm. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and skip this establishment. read more

For the past day, I have gone back and forth about writing a review, but I came to the conclusion, I should share my experience with others. MAYBE corporate will read this. To start, I have an extensive background in food and beverage. I have been General Manager of a few, successfully ran million dollars stores. A majority of those being corporately owned. Here is the experience we incurred on the evening of Monday, January 21 at the La Grange, KY Cracker Barrell location. When my spouse, son and I walked in, we weren't greeted with friendly faces, but employees who seemed like A. They didn't want to be there and B. they judged us upon entering the establishment. We were shuffled towards our table in the main dining room. Let me tell you, I wanted to walk out as soon as we were sat! Disgusting place at that time. Almost every table we scanned inside the main dining room was full of dirty, non-bussed plates, drink, napkins and silverware. As we sat there, we had time to calm down our toddler, look over the menu extensively and talk about things going on in our adult life's. We sat for over 10 MINUTES without any acknowledgement! We saw the manager in charge of the shift (not sure if she was a GM) walk to a few tables and ask how they were doing while not only ignoring the new guests, but full hands in, full hands out of that kitchen. Every time she walked past a dirty, disgusting table, she looked over at it, but never once approached it to help the team out. Those dirty tables sat there for over 20 minutes. Maybe they were short staffed, but no excuse when I see a manager "surveying" the restaurant and not acting approapriately. Our server FINALLY approached us after 11 minutes to get our drink order. She never introduced herself, never looked at us and took our drink order and ran. She finally came back 6-7 minutes later with our beverages. Asked us what we would like to eat. I ordered for my family because my spouse took a business call and she was not engaging or even really acknowledged she was our server..just there to take our order, so she could MOVE on. We had bread that was suppose to come out before our meal. We sat there and watched two tables not only get greeted, but got their beverages and appetizers (including bread and side salads) before we even got our drinks. I also watched a gentleman to the back right of us complain out the service and overall quality of the restaurant. We then witnessed the host sit a single gentleman down next to us at a DIRTY table. I'm not talking about some silverware sat there, I'm referring to food and sauce all over the tables, trash and beverages split on it too. The guy kept quiet and wiped the table. He waited over 10 minutes for any acknowledgement as well. When we received our food, another person brought it out (which is fine because food runners of any kind are important), but I was out of beverage and our son didn't receive his side. I also needed condiment, but our server or manager was no where to be found. I had to get up from the table, walk back to the host stand and ask for ketchup and a refill. The look I received from this woman was like I asked her to jump off a cliff! Really? Once I returned to the table, I just watched this manager walk the dining room "checking" on guests (always went to talk to this one table) and walk right past dirty, piled up dishes. That same manager checked in with us, but luckily for her, my spouse told me to swallow my frustrations and not say a word. I couldn't even look up at this lady because I was super frustrated and I would have probably embarrassed her in the establishment. We weren't even finished with our meal before our server just ripped off our ticket and sat it on the table and walked away. Thoughts ran through my mind the ENTIRE dinner about not tipping this girl, but I know the service industry. I usually leave a big tip, but not this time. As we were leaving, the same manager was YELLING at those girls from the kitchen FOOD TO BE RAN as she was coming out with empty hands, screaming at her employees. I WILL NOT RETURN! read more

TERRIBLE!! First, we were seated and "our" waiter/waitress was nowhere to be found.. Second, when our waitress decided to come by, she took forever to come back. Third, she gave us our complementary bread at the same time she gave us our food. That's too late! And last but sure not least, she gave us the wrong ticket for our food. I could go on and on but this was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant and I really don't plan on going to the Cracker Barrel in LaGrange ever again. read more

This has got to be the slowest Cracker Barrel I have ever eaten at! This is the second time we have been here and both times it took forever to get our food. When breakfast finally arrived it was warm, definitely not a hot breakfast. Waffle House will get our business next time. read more

They never make doubts on the delicious meals. When you're finally seated though, it takes them 15 to 20 minutes just to take your order, especially when the waitress' are standing there doing nothing or walking pass your table. Hope they change that. Four stars until then. read more

The Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is a southern, home-style restaurant and general store. When you walk up, the porch is lined with rocking chairs and cracker barrels that have been turned into checkers tables. They are quite inviting and evocative of the days when a general store was a community gathering place, where people would get their community news and visit with folks. When you walk inside, the Country Store theme continues. The store area is crowded with merchandise of all ilk. The merchandise consists of clothing, nostalgia candy, lotions and soaps, cast iron skillets, humorous signs, toys, stuffed animals, CDs, all sorts of sundries, and more holiday decorations than you can imagine. Personally, I found the Country Store to be cluttered and distracting, however I suppose the distraction is preconceived to keep you occupied while waiting for a table. The Cracker Barrel was doing a brisk business on the Friday night we were there, so we had plenty of time to browse around the store. Our name was finally called, and we were escorted to the dining area. The place is decorated with old fashioned signs and local memorabilia. Our waiter was self admittedly harried, but friendly nonetheless. Most of our table ordered chicken and dumplings, one ordered the Friday fish fry with cod, and I had the smaller portion lemon pepper tilapia with turnip greens and hash brown casserole. The chicken and dumplings seemed to be a winner, everyone that ordered them was happy. Unfortunately, the fried cod came out cold and hard which was quite a disappointment. My meal was very average. The tilapia was just fine, but I was not a fan of the hash brown casserole, and the turnip greens, while good, had what I am guessing was pork or ham on top. The shredded meat was dry and flavorless, and detracted from the greens. We were considering dessert, but our waiter was nowhere to be found. We asked a few other employees to send him over, but he never materialized and we learned that the dessert we were considering was not currently on the menu. We asked for separate checks, but as is often the case, a generous member of our party offered to cover it all. We asked again for separate checks, but he deferred to the person that offered to pay. I feel like this was more to save himself the hassle of re-ringing. Apparently, you don't pay at the table, but rather take another stroll through the store to pay at the counter, giving you another opportunity to browse through the amply stocked store. Overall, the Cracker Barrel Country Store was a decent choice for a large group in a small town with limited options. However, the quality of food, coupled with their past discriminatory practices against women, minorities, and homosexuals will dissuade me from eating there again on my own. read more

Very satisfied with the service we had!!! They was super super busy. We sat down and ordered, our waitress asked us if we wanted to get biscuits before the meal and we both decided yes because we figured it would be a while waiting for the food. Bought 12 of their ready made Thanksgiving meals & waited 2 hours to eat. Simply asked their manager to sub 3 slices of the pecan pie in lieu of the pumpkin pie that came with it. To be asked after another 10 minutes "what did you order, we will get it out."....No thank you. Then the manager was suppose to get us Gold gift certificates, but never came back to give them to us. I enjoyed our breakfast as we headed out of Lagrange and traveled back home. I ordered Catfish, Grits, Hash-brown Casserole and some biscuits. My BF ordered some hungry man's breakfast with Sausage, Bacon, Eggs, Apples and Grits. My fish was pretty good but the temperature of the rest of my food was not hot enough for me. I actually got ill as I was eating and so I got my meal to go. Luckily the restrooms were very clean. My BF finished his meal and thought it was great! Came from out of state to visit family, leaving this morning but wanted to grab breakfast with my sisters family before we headed back home out of state. Was told no more than a party of 7 could be accommodated. Thought it was because of short staffing. We have a party of 9, 4 adults, 3 kids and 2 babies age 1 and younger. Tried explaining the babies would be ordering food off the menu so that really makes us a party of 7 who will be ordering and eating. Was told no by the manager. Then asked if we could slit into two tables (my family and my sisters) but sit right next to each other. Was told they would try but no promises. I tried to explain I was from out of town and did not wish to be sat across the restaurant from my sisters family. Was told "that's just the way we do it". Don't go here for family time. They are not family oriented and do not care. The hostess thought she was funny on top of all that was going on already trying to talk about me like I can't hear her. Unprofessional. I don't go to Cracker Barrel very often these days. However, I decided I wanted some "country style" food. I ordered the sampler plate (dinner) with vegetables (corn, pinto beans, fried okra). I was told it would be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. I walked in approximately 18 minutes later. My food was not ready. Finally after another 15 minutes, my food came out. I picked up the bag to go to the door and was called back (although they should have noticed I was in a hurry after more than a 30 minute wait). The server who brought out my food had to go over it to make sure it was what I ordered. Geez! Maybe you could have done that before bringing it out rather than call me back from the doorway on my way out. Finally I could eat but it wasn't very exciting. The ham was hard, the meatloaf dry and tasteless. The chicken dumplings were pretty good however. The cornbread was so dry I think they forgot to put any wet ingredients in it. The pintos were decent, the corn was decent. The fried okra was hard, very dry and pretty much tasteless. I ended up eating only the pintos, corn and dumplings. The rest went straight into the trash can! So much for "fresh" country foods. read more

Forgot to take pics...and I was hungry! Waitress was excellent (Bettina is on the receipt but I don't think that was her name...crs). Got eggs in a basket, hasbrown casserole, bacon and one pancake. I love Cracker Barrel's pancakes, nice and crispy around the edges, but fluffy and soft inside! Eggs were just slightly over done per order (over-medium-well) but still enough runny to make me happy. Sourdough is really the best toast for eggs in a basket. If you have never tried it and like runny yolks and toast...try this! read more

Great service at this location!! Returning from a Labor Day weekend trip, my family stopped off of 85- North and was there during the lunch hour. Upon entering the restaurant, the atmosphere was filled with christmas decorations, country decor and candy store treats. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server "Erica", who was great. She gave eye contact and explained menu items in detail when asked. The iced-tea was very watery and a couple of the entree items were not brought out with our order which is why I gave it 4-stars. The restaurant manager on duty was "Quentin, who was very pleasant and greeted our table. We were very pleased with our visit and plan to return again. read more

We love good southern food when traveling in the south and Cracker Barrel always delivers just that. This particular location was not our best Cracker Barrel experience. The waitress didn't know the menu well, my hash brown casserole was served dry and cold. It tasted like leftovers which was a huge bummer since they normally have the best hashbrowns! My friend and I eat lunch at LaGrange Cracker Barrel every Sunday after church and usually it is a good experience but todays visit left a really bad taste in my mouth and I am not sure I will go back. I bought several store items. The total bill was 14.19. I gave the girl 2 tens and two dimes. She gave me back $5.01. My friend and I told her this was not right that we should get back $6.01 and she said well the machine said 5.01. We could not get her to see that $20.20 -14.19 = 6.01, She finally called the manager and she said just give her the dollar like she was doing us a favor. They both made us look like fools in front of everyone in the store. I bet if we shorted her a dollar it would have been a BIG deal to her. Can't think of a single time I've ever been disappointed with the service or food there. Orders are always correct and no matter how many times I view the items on the walls, always find something to talk about or an item sparks a memory... The feel is the same in each restaurant but the people here makes it a special feel, but we're on the road lot and frequent Cracker Barrels as the food is consistent.
