First the good. Waitress Shelby = Amazing! No wait even though it was right after church on Sunday. There were 5 of us. Two of us, myself included ordered the hamburger steak. The problem? Crispy on the outside and raw on the inside. Mine was covered in gravy and onions so I didn't notice it was raw till I was 1/4 through it. I know it's chain, but come on guys, the customer service was poor!!!! For starters the drink order was messed up from the jump. That issue was corrected, then when it go time to ordering the food, everyone in my party spoke slowly and loudly where it could be heard and the order was still taken down wrong. The order I received wasn't even what I ordered, the server did acknowledge it was his mistake .... Soooo are you going to bring me what was ordered? No he just walked away. For that I wouldn't recommend coming here until the foundation of waiting on tables sets in and by that I mean reading the order back to the customer, and providing quality service. It's a CB. They are notorious for hit and miss service. This one is 3 1/2 stars. It was a tad slow and it wasn't all that crowded. I did like they had new options like the Cinnamon roll skillet and S'mores hot chocolate. The food was typical CB . The waitress was fine. Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was established in Lebanon, Tennessee back in 1969 and has since grown to over 665 restaurants in 45 states. That is a pretty impressive accomplishment in itself and this restaurant offers a cool general store that you have to walk through to get into the restaurant part. I met a client here for a breakfast meeting. The staff was friendly and since I am trying to drop a few pounds, I went with a couple eggs over easy with hashbrown casserole. Yes, I know the hash brown casserole is not the lowest calorie thing, but it is probably the best thing about Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. Stopped in to breakfast off I-65N this Cracker Barrel is to be commended. It was like the early days there was a GLO- I Love My Job. The Host to the server were friendly and Accommodating. Our coffee kept refilled w/o asking. Butter, jelly, syrup and extra white sugar were all there. (note- we do not use artificial sweeteners wish CB would stop serving Its Toxic). We had a nice lunch traveling through from our trip. The chicken fried steak with gravy was great. Meatloaf meal with greens and a side salad was all great. I substituted the potatoes for a side salad & was charged $2.50. I was not told by the waiter there was an extra charge. The manager removed it from my bill. I knew I was taking a gamble, but I didn't realize I was signing up for the full antebellum fantasy package, complete with a side of bland food, dusty racism nostalgia, and a live roach cameo. The moment I stepped in, the air shifted. The banjos were strumming, the rocking chairs were creaking, and the stares? Oh, baby--the stares. I hadn't even ordered food yet, and I was already being served side-eye and suspicion. The hostess hit me with that "Can I help you?" tone like I wandered in looking for directions instead of dinner. Newsflash, sweetheart: I'm here for the food, not the time travel to 1863. Now, the food--if you can call it that--tasted like it was cooked by someone who's personally offended by seasoning. My fried chicken had all the soul of a tax return. The mac and cheese? Dry, disrespectful, and definitely made by someone who thinks pepper is "too spicy." I asked for hot sauce and got a packet of shame. I've had more flavor in a hospital tray. And just when I thought it couldn't get any worse? A roach strutted across my table like it owned stock in the place. Looked me dead in the eye like, "Welcome to the Barrel, bruh." I damn near dapped him up just for surviving in that wasteland. I told the server, and she gave me a shrug like, "You new here?" Nah. See, THIS is why we don't be coming in here like that. The country store at the front? A mess. Looked like Auntie's attic threw up. Jesus candles, Confederate energy, and enough gingham to blind a man. Why is half the merchandise scented like cobwebs and white guilt? First off Amella is a very good server. Better than a three star rating for sure. The place is always clean and the air conditioning is running strong. Anyone who had something to put on wore it to stay warm. It really ruins the experience to freeze through a meal. The meals took forever. My husband had pork hops. They were hot and he liked them. My meal was Tips, chicken and shrimp. The tips were burnt in a stuck together pile. The HB casserole was cold, hard to chew. The tips were replaced and the server was very kind. Just off I10 at exit 69. You can see their sign from the highway. Plenty of parking. I went for breakfast and it was moderately crowded but I was seated right away and brought coffee and ice water. And we were seated quickly. The decor is barn kitchen as usual. The breakfast menu has changed. I couldn't see toast on the menu at all. Just biscuits and gravy. I didn't see hash browns just a potato casserole which was pretty tasty, but not hash browns with little crispy bits. The biscuits were fluffy, but not completely baked and not a bit flaky. We frequent this location regularly so rarely have issues. We visited for lunch today and I was in the mood for a nice chef salad. The closest I could find on the menu was a fried chicken salad. Chicken breast was prepared nicely although a fried piece of skin by itself was on the plate along with meat, not appealing at all. The salad itself was pitiful. Probably 1/3 head of iceberg lettuce with 8 small grape tomatoes, 4 slices of cucumber, 1 sliced hard boiled egg and a small sprinkling of shredded cheddar. Hubby had breakfast and really enjoyed! This location doesn't know how to right there wrongs. Ordered the cheese burger and the patty had other food from the griddle burnt into the burger. Showed the service and sent it back. A few minute later the manager brought me our a "new burger" and said he personally fixed it up himself. Start to build my burger again only to notice it was THE SAME BURGER I sent back with the same food still burnt into the burger. Laterrica was our waitress and she did not disappoint at all. At 6 pm on a Sunday there was open tables and no wait for 2. As soon as we sat down, our waiter came over and took our Sri K order. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Hashbrown Casserole, and Fried Okra. Everything was seasoned great and cooked to order. The heavy was just thick enough on top of the steak and the mash. The Hashbrown casserole had great flavor and not too many onions. The Chicken Fried Steak and 3 sides with biscuits or cornbread was 10.99. My husband ordered the Chicken Tender Dinner Grilled with Dumplings, Pintos, and Baby Carrots. The chicken tenders were juicy with great seasonings. The carrots were very soft but not too mushy. Pintos and the dumplings were a major hit. Seasoned perfectly.
