I have not had a bad experience at any Cracker Barrel locations and I have been around a lot of CB's. The only bad thing I can say about this is that the silverware's were missing random silverware in each bundle. One had only a knife. Another had spoon and fork with no knife, and not one out of 11 silverware's were complete with all three silverware's. With that being said, the food, the service, and shop with all the clothes is always great. Had the experience of eating the Stuffed Cheesecake Pancake Breakfast with scrambled eggs with added cheese and bacon. Always love the atmosphere with it feeling homie. As mentioned earlier, I have been to a lot of establishments of CB and they are all consistent with their service. Portraying loving, smiling, caring, and attentiveness is constant. Cracker Barrels don't often get good reviews, but I've been a fan of this restaurant chain after a trip to Florida where there seems to be so many along the highway. I recently tried the fried chicken, but still enjoy the chicken dumplins with my favorite sides of fried okra and apples. This Oxford Cracker Barrel was a stop for lunch between Birmingham and Atlanta. It's a great location not far from our exit. After checking out the Country Store - and checking a few items off my Christmas list, we were seated promptly at a socially distanced table. To order, since I eat gluten free, I pulled CB's Allergen menu up on my phone and ordered a veggie plate - baked sweet potatoes, collards, carrots, coleslaw and water with lemon to drink. The veggies were hot and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the collards with country ham. My husband got his usual meatloaf (we frequent Cracker Barrel Restaurants) and he loved his perfectly cooked meal. Our server was very friendly and engaging. She kept an eye on us throughout our meal and provided great service. We both felt well cared for by the time we left and we were appreciative in the days of Covid, when it's easy to maintain an emotional distance - as well as a physical distance. She is a gift to those who meet her. We will definitely stop again - and I'm hoping we get the same waitress! read more

We were passing through town and needed a breakfast spot. We wanted Cracker Barrel but the reviews were less than stellar. Because it is CB we decided to at least scope things out. With it being a Sunday we expected to wait. We were told 15-20 minutes but were seated in less than 10. Our waitress (Lacy) was top notch. She was so cheerful and attentive even though they were packed. Our food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh. It appeared that every employee we saw enjoyed their job. They were all so friendly and the place was really clean. We will be stopping at the Oxford CB again. read more

I'm honestly baffled with how we were treated today at this restaurant. I put ourselves on their online wait list, was quoted 20 minutes. We get to the host stand to check in and somehow our name became deleted off the computer so we waited an HOUR for a table. Once we finally became seated, it took almost 15 minutes to get greeted by a server. I understand if it's understaffed and we can be patient but even the manager saw us looking around and we were ignored. Once we finally got our drinks, we asked for straws and didn't get them until our food came out. From being a server, bartender and trainer for over 20 years, I know how dirty the cups can be so I don't think it was too much asking for a straw. We order and I got eggs and sourdough toast only, a very simple order. I repeated the order TWICE to our server, especially the toast. Once the food comes out, my toast never came and took 10 minutes to get that, so by then my eggs were cold. The server never apologized and the manager knew we weren't having not the best experience (since we had to ask her for the straws) and the manager never came over to check on us. My husband got the hash brown casserole and it wasn't cheesy or baked, no where as good as they used to be. It was very frustrating paying $30 for a meal that was cold and horrible service. I just could never imagine treating the guests that come to my restaurant like that. Managers need to do a much better job on table visits, especially the tables who's simple order was messed up and cold. read more

Declining again. Once again, the servers are great and trying their best, but just not enough of them. So if you have to have Cracker Barrel and you're traveling on I-20 try to make it to the Cracker Barrel in Pell City or Douglasville. An hour wait is common if they tell you 30 minutes. And food is likely to be served an hour and a half after your arrival. This is not what one would expect of a country restaurant. Do not attempt this restaurant unless you have endless amounts of spare time. read more

Like all Cracker Barrel's your service will vary upon location, enough cooks, if enough employees, If those employees give a dang..etc This was our second CB location we went too since the one in Bremen was a total disaster. We explained what we had been through, ordered since we knew what we wanted . In 5 min our food came just like that!! Usually I love Cracker Barrel, and my boyfriend and I were very excited to eat there today, but our experience was horrible. I ordered water, and he got a sweet tea, and both of the drinks came out with lemons already squeezed and put down into the drinks. He does not like lemon, and did not ask for it, but my entire water tasted sweaty when I took a sip, more than likely due to unclean hands squeezing our lemons. We also had to wait a while for our food to come out, and when it did, I was informed that my food had just a few more minutes and would be out soon. The waitress placed my boyfriends meal in front of him, and knocked one of his fish filet pieces off onto the tray. She tried to act like it didn't happen and that she did not notice and thought we wouldn't notice the missing food. He asked for the filet, and she said she would get us a new one. That took about 15 minutes, and I still had not received my meal. I finally got my food 25-30 minutes after he did, and his food is now cold because he did not want to eat without me. I guess we also visited during shift change, because our original waitress disappeared and never came back. We weren't even sure who we were tipping at checkout. Because of such, we were also neglected refills, or service. It took 20 minutes just to get our sweaty tasting drinks switched out. I think we will just make the trip to Bremen next time we are craving Cracker Barrel. read more

We were greeted by a less than enthusiastic Demetra. She seated us and left us menus. Nakisha was a little dry at first but warmed up some. You could tell they were short staffed or just coming off of a rush though it was after 2pm. Tables had not been bussed and the floor was dirty. The lanterns on several tables were missing the tops. We arrived to have breakfast around 7 am and were seated immediately, which was a plus. No wait. Having eaten at Cracker Barrel nationwide for years, no matter where we lived or traveled, we know that "waiting" can be a common issue. So we were pleased by that service. But I think we were seated so fast because this location has earned a bad reputation. As always we ordered the Old Timer's breakfast, bacon crisp with scrambled eggs. I did the hashbrowns casserole and my husband did scattered hash browns. When our orders were brought I immediately asked the waitress to take my bacon back and microwave it long enough to make it crispy. Floppy, uncooked fat was at both ends. She refused, claimed she'd already done that and couldn't do it again. After she left my husband gave me HIS bacon and he ate the center of mine that was done leaving the rest for trash. But then we realized that he clearly was served two eggs, whereas my plate did NOT have two scrambled eggs unless they were using quail eggs. We did have one more opportunity to deal with our waitress. We had no napkins and flagged her to tell her but she didn't come back with napkins for another 10 minutes when we had already finished our meals and a ticket was slammed on the table with our napkins. When asked at the check out how we liked our meal I was honest and told them it was the worst experience at Cracker Barrel we have ever had. They asked if I wanted to speak to the manager and I said NO. I just wanted to leave. read more

I'm not sure what people are expecting when they come here but I believe they are worthy of a 4 star review. During my stay I ate the country fried steak, pancakes, and chicken and dumplings. I was never disappointed and the staff was friendly. If you're staying local or passing through I'd definitely drop in here. More so due to the lack of breakfast options in the area. read more

We visited the Oxford, AL Store on 10/19/24 and I am sad to say that this will be our last visit to any Cracker Barrel. It is very apparent that things are changing at the corporate level as they continue to close more and more locations and customers are no longer a priority. Allow me to share our most recent experience. As we were escorted to our table, the Host encouraged us to try the new "Apple Iced Tea." My wife placed an order for the tea with our Waiter, only to be told that they were out of the Apple Iced Tea. She then settled for a soft drink instead. I then placed an order for their Chicken Fried Chicken with Sawmill Gravy. Only to be told by our Waiter that they were out of Sawmill Gravy. I can see this happening late in the evening, but we visited at 4:30 in the afternoon! As a result, we chose to leave Cracker Barrel and dine elsewhere, since there were plenty of other restaurants nearby. However, we still paid $7.24 for our two 12 oz. soft drinks. Cracker Barrel used to be a frequent stop during our trips across this great Nation, but it is very obvious that things are changing with this corporation and their corporate-owned stores. In years past, they have been the Go-To place for consistent drop-in food or while interstate traveling. Haven't been there in a year, so we dropped in for lunch. We were ready to stand and leave when we finally got attention from waitress. Restaurant was not busy at all. They no longer offer biscuits and/or corn muffins unless you ask. I ordered meatloaf, green beans and carrots. Husband ordered hamburger steak and fries. My meatloaf must have been the corner piece in the pan, because it had hard corners (bad) and the piece was huge (which was fine). Green beans and carrots were both watery and soggy, without much taste. Ice tea was nearly clear it was so weak. I asked for pepper sauce for the green beans just to give them some flavor. Our waitress stopped to bus and clear the table behind us before bringing me the pepper sauce, which I thought was probably an employee training issue. Serve your customers before bussing your tables, or risk getting less in tips. Our drinks didn't get refilled. To top everything, I took the leftover meatloaf home, expecting to enjoy a meatloaf sandwich (which I love) the next day for lunch, but I became ill later in the afternoon from the food and had to chuck leftovers in the bin. Too bad for an old trued-and-true favorite. We won't be returning. read more

She suggested a cheaper alternative that included all the add ons I wanted! My husband ordered the Sunrise Sampler. Food was delivered prompt, warm and delicious. She brought honey and maple syrup without us having to ask. She also had my husband's coffee and our waters topped off always. Never had to ask for a refill. I checked in online and when I arrived, the hostess tried to tell me I did not even though I showed her on my phone that I did. The wait was ridiculous (over 20 minutes when I was told it would be only 10 minutes). This restaurant should be staffed properly to handle their peak hours. The fact that they are not shows poor management. The food was good as it usually is. The service, once I finally got to a table was fair at best. I travel for work and dine in Cracker Barrel restaurants usually on average 2 to 3 times per week. This is one of the worst experiences I have had in a Cracker Barrel. read more

One thing for certain, is that when you go to one Cracker Barrel, you've gone to most of them all. The service is always excellent, fairly priced and the food is good. Not great, but good. First you pass through a sea of country decor, clothes, foods and housewares. Then you meet the hostess, who will seat you. Your waitress/waiter will take your order and deliver it in a timely manner. They will check on you if anything else is needed, once. I have occasionally had slower service, or wait listed for a table. But that is more the exception than the rule. For the traveller, it's not fine dining but it is good food, and is consistent. I order the same thing at Cracker Barrel every time: turkey sausage and fried apples. I like the biscuits and butter that they bring out so I end up making a turkey biscuit. I always use too much butter. I'm not sure why, but I wasn't feeling the fried apples this time. It seemed so much smaller than the other locations I've been too both the quantity and the size.
