I watched an older guy spend 10 minutes trying to figure out what he could order. Two other customers walked out. All I could do was laugh at the comedy skit between the customer and the owner. Also, if the order allows two sides, why can't both of them be yams? There seemed to be a policy against getting two of the same side even when the order comes with two sides. Although not a big deal, but I smelled like a BBQ pit when I left. Felt unsatisfied, I so I went to a small chain BBQ place to get ribs and brisket. The lesson is to get there early for ribs and brisket.

The chicken however was like rubber. I ate half a small piece and put the rest to the side. My husband had the Pulled Pork platter which is normally good. The meat was really dry. I ate all the pasta and told our server about the chicken being like rubber and she stated that she's mentioned that exact thing to the cooks but that maybe if a customer complains they would possibly listen. What made me a little annoyed though was that I ate none of the chicken yet they didn't at least bump off a few bucks off my meal. Granted, the actual gumbo was pretty solid with the right amount of heft and spice and depth, but even then the rice had some hard pieces in it like it was old. The biscuits aren't anything to write home about and the butter is just meh. I wouldn't spend my carbs there. On top of all that, the waitress literally couldn't be bothered that I existed. I had to pry to get a drink menu (which is when I found out they weren't serving any), I couldn't get any eye contact from her or any kind of friendliness, she asked me if I wanted them to "heat it up" when I told her about the crawfish, and then brought my bill when I hadn't even finished dinner without bothering to ask if I wanted any dessert. And on top of that, there was no mention at all about the dinner issues or any apology whatsoever. I don't need or want a meal comped but for over $40 for a bowl of gumbo and some biscuits (+ tax, tip, etc) I at least expect some acknowledgement or "hey, here's something nice we can do for you". We really enjoyed the last time we were here and this was a genuinely jarring experience compared to that.
