Well, it happened before. You did not properly fill my takeout order. You apologized. Now it had happened again. After a 40 minute round trip we get back and realized that you left an entire meal out of our takeout order. I am kicking myself for trusting you. As I said before, I used to do this kind of work. Perhaps they are best known for reasonable prices on comfort food. Service and food temps can be hit or miss. Overall, when you are craving a filling meal at a value, this is a great choice.Plates tend to come in large portions, so come hungry. Cracker Barrel isn't what it used to be, Not that it was ever all that good to begin with but this meal was a new low. The people working there were just as nice as they could be. However the fried chicken dinner I picked up last night was struggling to achieve mediocrity. The fried chicken was below average, any fast food fried chicken would've been light years better. The green beans were soggy and definitely from a can. They opened the can poured it into the bain Marie with no seasoning, no flavor, no ham hock, no nothing. it was literally flavorless mush straight from the can. At least put up some semblance of effort would you guys? The "fried apples" were totally bland, a little cinnamon, a little ginger and a hint of cloves would have made all the difference in the world. If they were fried they sure had no signs of it, other than the unmistakable taste of stale grease. They were not browned anywhere and tasted like canned apple pie filling except not quite as good. Stewed apples would be a better description although they did have a peel on them so they possibly may have been pre-cooked from the commissary and finished at the restaurant. It was a sad meal. Their breakfasts have always been solid, but I'm not inclined to go there for breakfast tomorrow morning based on the mediocre dinner they served me tonight. Cracker Barrel--show us that you care!! Your food now tastes like it was made for nursing home residents, but considering your clientele that's probably by design. Another place I used to like now going down in flames from poor quality control and lack of ability to season anything. I gotta admit-- I'm a picky person when it comes to breakfast. And I'm married to a guy who could eat pancakes at every meal. Breakfast (or any meal) at THIS Cracker Barrel doesn't disappoint. We get the Mama's Pancake Breakfast usually. Grandmas Pancake Breakfast (not on the menu) includes the infamous Cracker Barrel hash brown casserole. Yum! The manager Dale and the long time servers there (especially Patty and BJ) are awesome!! There might be a little wait for a table, but the hostesses make sure to seat you as quickly as possible. In our travels, we visit many Cracker Barrel restaurants. Don't get it twisted - they DO NOT compare to this one. If you're traveling to Chicago, make a beeline to the Troy location. Horrible!! There were 4 of us including 2 little kids and we waited 15 minutes before a waitress came to our table. Then waited an hour and still didn't have our food. The tables that sat down the same time as us received their food and were gone in less than 35 minutes. I'm one of those people who is always out of synch: Saturday and Sunday typically are work days, and the "weekend," such as it is, might be Monday or half of Thursday and part of Friday. Or something like that. Four to six weekends a year, I might get an opportunity for a Sunday breakfast, as I did recently at the Cracker Barrel. What a happening place at 10:00 AM: it was packed, we put in our reservation, and they got to us in "11-15 minutes," as promised. Meanwhile, we enjoyed all the kitschy country stuff in the store. Gloria Gaither is a gospel artist: why is she such an authority on home cooking that she deserves a cookbook? These are the things I grouse about when my daily coffee consumption has been delayed 3 to 4 hours. I don't need pancakes or waffles, and I never want grits or gravy. Road trip from Arizona to Toronto (yes, we are that kind of crazy) and we ended up making a stop to eat here in Troy. We went off the highway trying to find a place to eat and nothing got our attention. We were about to go back in the highway when we noticed Cracker Barrel on the other side. Comfort food is just what we needed on that chilly afternoon. Our server was very friendly and we were in and out just in time. I like the bench and the flowers by the entrance. Thursday 6:300PM.....dinner with 2 adults & 1 9 year old. Country fried steak..meat dry & tough tasteless, milk gravy super thick & flour taste - terrible. Vegetables all very good & taste. Hamburger sandwich with fries.....very good. Adult pancakes....overly dry & TOUGH....hard to cut with knife & fork(2 adults labored cutting them....NOT exaggerating!) and tasteless. Biscuits decent but not excellent....same for cornbread. Gift shop excellent & fully stocked but food quality continuing to slide downward over the past years. Just for the record they do not have a good child's menu. You will pay almost as much as an adult. They will ask child if they want extra stuff and you think it is included but they charge extra. We ordered two pancakes on child's menu they ask our granddaughter if she wanted sausage. We thought it was included with child's meal. It end up costing us more that our adult meals. Two pancakes they ripped us off I could have bought to boxes of mix for what they charged us. Make sure what you are being chaged We ate again here on July 13 2019 because of my birthday. Our experience today was one of the worst restaurant experiences in decades. We waited almost one hour for our food to be served on a very slow Thursday afternoon. Customers arriving well after us were finishing up their meals by the time our lukewarm dishes arrived. We've been under-welled by the quality of the food before, but today's turkey dinner (the Thursday special) was tasteless as well as cold. Additionally, some of the silverware was dirty. Unfortunately, my dining experience this morning on 5/20/19 was marred by an incident while trying to pay for my meal. I had asked for my bill and it took 15 minutes to get it. When I got the bill from the waitress I went to the cashier to pay and it turned out that the bill was for a different but similar table but the bill had already been paid and removed from the system. It took about another 10 minutes for them to contact the waitress to come to the cashier. It took another 10 minutes to figure out that she lost our bill and just gave us one that she found somewhere for a similar meal that occurred earlier that morning. 35 minutes after a meal to get a proper bill and pay is poor customer service. The waitress looked at me and the cashier as if I was trying to get her in trouble with the manager while all I wanted to do is pay my bill for whatever amount they decided on and get the heck out of there. I am a retired senior citizen and 6 year Army veteran even wearing my Army veteran hat today at the meal only to be treated with disrespect after receiving substandard service. I thought of Cracker Barrel as somewhere that maintained American values especially for veterans and senior citizens. I will not be back and cannot recommend this restaurant to friends and family. They even had the nerve to keep asking how much tip I wanted to put on my card. I told them that 35 minutes to pay a restaurant bill does not deserve any tip. I left the restaurant while my wife shopped in the store and when she came out she told me that she gave them a gift card and her item and they still charged her full price. My wife said why didn't you take off the gift card and the cashier said what gift card. My wife argued with her then the cashier realized she set the gift card down while talking to a coworker and forgot about it. I have never been to a Cracker Barrel before. When my grandpa heard me say that, he knew where we'd be eating lunch! This was my first stop after arriving in St. Louis by AmTrak. After a 6 hour train ride from Kansas City I was famished. While waiting to be seated, you can peruse their many rocking chairs out on the front porch, or take a look in their country store and browse their wares. They have a nice eclectic selection of goods to choose from, and makes for a nice gift shop if you're looking for something to bring home for friends or family. Once we were seated, I ordered one of their summer time salads, which was a strawberry grilled chicken salad, on a bed of spinach. It also had blueberries, bacon (not bacon bits - BACON), and was lightly dressed with strawberry poppy seed vinaigrette. It was absolutely delicious. Despite being really hungry, I couldn't even finish the whole salad. I took my leftovers home, added more spinach, and an egg, and had lunch for the next day. They also brought cornbread on accident when my grandpa ordered biscuits. They just let us keep the cornbread, and brought out another plate of biscuits. So I got to have a piece of that cornbread, and it was pretty good! The workers were all very friendly (then again it seems that everyone is in the midwest), and kept our water glasses, tea cups, and coffee mugs filled. read more

This is the worst Cracker Barrel I have been to. Sunday, November 3, at 4:30 p.m.....waited 10 minutes for waitress. It's Sunday....busy day, everything we ordered they allegedly were out of...i.e., carrots, chicken and dumplings. Waitress had attitude. Asked to talk to manager....were told he was too busy....said had new cook. Excuses, excuses.....cold food. Interestingly, the carrots I was told they were out of, were served to the table next to us. This place gives Cracker Barrel a very bad name. Stay away! Actually, they lost not a good review, but I could have dropped a lot in the gift shop.....decided that after the very poor experience in the restaurant, would not give the owner my business. I understand caution during COVID, I do, but this place takes it to an incredible and unrealistic extreme. Only outdoor seating and it was 55 degrees outside. As soon as we got our food it immediately started getting cold. We tried to eat as fast as we could to have a warm meal but it wasn't possible. My coffee was cold in about three minutes. While we were eating a family of eight showed up and they were told that they couldn't push their tables closer together because of COVID. Then they brought us the check and we hand the waitress the card and she informs us that we still have to pay inside. We go inside to pay and one of the cashiers, who has her mask on below her nose, tells my girlfriend to pull her mask up. After paying my girlfriend and I go to use the restroom and the cashier starts talking to another customer about how incredibly disrespectful my girlfriend was when she had to pull up her mask. The city this restaurant is located in has a population of 10,000 and yet this restaurant is more strict on any of their COVID policies than anywhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. How is it safe to eat outside, pay inside, and use the bathroom but it's unsafe to eat inside? Not to mention their staff being incredibly rude and unprofessional about the absolute ridiculousness that they are enforcing. read more

When we arrived, there wasn't someone at the hostess desk for about 5 minutes and it wasn't busy. But, our waitress, Brandy S., was the BEST waitress ever. Just really attentive but not overbearing and she even bought a little bowl of whipped cream out for my 2 year old, I'm guessing because she saw him eating the whipped cream off my latte. People like Brandy make the dining experience extra special, I truly hope she is appreciated by her bosses for her awesome work and warm and friendly personality.
