Glad I didn't pay any attention to the menu before going there, or I might not have gone, since I was looking for a seafood dinner as opposed to a crab boil. Fortunately they DID have catfish on the menu, and it was the best catfish I've had since moving back to NM from Arkansas (where everyone offers catfish on the menu). The 3 large fillets were coated in a very tasty cornmeal coat and nicely crisp. The tartar sauce and the generous portion of fries were both very good as well. the service is horrible. the host are horrible at time management on tables . they give wrong wait times and kept telling people 45 min when they close 30 min for a wait for a table. there servers are running around like chickens with no heads. the food wasn't to par, real thought this place would be great for being the closest sea food in rio rancho by pres. they need a busy boy or more servers to help turn tables better. who is Ryan? unfortunately, offering me a job does not the fix fact you're not apologizing and say we are working on this. There was another server and he was doing great, but I didn't have him as my server. I noticed he was following up with all his tables and you can tell he was generally doing his best. As a transplanted East-coaster, fresh seafood is hard to come by in land-locked New Mexico. The snow crab legs were delicious and fresh. One thing is for sure ABQ has several seafood boil restaurants to choose from. What makes this leaps above the rest?... they treat you like family. It is not uncommon for the owner to come out and check on you during your meal, and asking about the people you came with last time. They care about your dining experience and they care about you as a customer. We have been here dozens of times and are overjoyed each and every time. We have bet had anything we were disappointed with and seem to discover new combinations each time. This last time we had a fun discovery, sake bombs! The trick is to use room temp or chilled sake, makes the drink amazing. We cannot say enough good things about this place. So much yum to choose from. The sea food boil places are all very similar, the exception here is the chicken strips and the friendly service. My hubby does not do the shellfish and he says the chicken strips are the best so we can both agree on this place. The chicken strips are best when dipped in a mixture of the cracken sauce and ranch dressing. Also get the wings appetizer. IT. IS. THE. BEST!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. I order the shrimp in cracken and then a side of rice and a plate. I then peel my entire order and place on the bed of rice, pour the excess cracken sauce over the shrimp rice. Then I devour my epic meal. For me the potato and corn do not add anything to the meal but most others enjoy that part. As long as you are ok with paper plate and earring out of bag you will have one of the best meals ever. read more

Amazing food and Thomas gave us the best service we've ever had at a restaurant! We would ask for something and he clearly had a pep in his step, he would return to our table in the blink of an eye with refills etc. The crab, scallops, and lobster were all perfect! Which I felt was very unprofessional. Other customers followed us out. I'm so disappointed in this treatment as we have frequented this place for several years. This is one of those spots you get what you pay for. One bag is enough to feed two people. The food is so tasty and really who needs forks and spoons....the experience is definitely worth the price. Crackin Crab is is definitely a good place to get your shellfish fix, with more options than just snow crab and shrimp it's a good place to check out at least once, but if your like me it's one of those places your once mean once a year. We ordered a shrimp and snow crab combo, 2.5 lbs for $52.00, I wouldn't buy the combo, it's more pricy than the price per pound on the individual shellfish. Also why it's a comb beats me, unless it's considering it's one potato, corn and half a sausage it comes with the side items. The flavors were good it just needed something more like side of Coleslaw or pasta salad! Some bread or dipping sauces or just more corn and potato's! Just a little more bang for your buck is all we're asking a, ps ditch those plastic bags you serve them in and get some trays please at the very least. read more

This week we went in for the third time, and we discovered something that popped this up from good to astounding. You see, there are 2 sauces, Crackin' Sauce, and Lemon Pepper. Either can be done in mild, medium, or hot, but the way they get to "Hot" Lemon Pepper is actually by adding Crackin' Sauce with all of its garlicky cayenne goodness. "Hot" Lemon Pepper is about the same as Medium Crakin' Sauce (Which is as hot as I'll let Raz go since I like to taste flavors other than cayenne when I'm eating Cajun-inspired foods). If you're a fan of shrimp and only shrimp, a pound of the little, headless guys cooked up in the hot Lemon Pepper sauce with a couple extra cobs of corn tossed in is a very reasonable meal for 2 people. Not that I would ever steer anyone away from the crab-heavy "Cast a Net" menu, since I absolutely adore crab and Crackin' Crab has a good supplier and excellent handling of said favorite shellfish, so it comes out fabulous and goes well with either of the super buttery sauces. Also, this location does Cajun Fries far better than the other location in town (which is in itself a reason to come up to the West Side), plus the portions of those or the Sweet Potato Fries are positively gigantic (Im pretty sure that 2 full yams or russets get julienned for a single basket). This is my absolute new favorite place to resolve my not infrequent cravings for shellfish. read more
